Hello there!
I have an HTC one S, the beats audio one.
The only problem is that the screen and the glass are completely broken, so the screen is always black.
I don't know if it is working or not.
if i connect trought usb and I launch lsusb command, this is the output:
Code:
Bus 003 Device 002: ID 13fe:1a00 Kingston Technology Company Inc. 512MB/1GB Flash Drive
Bus 003 Device 004: ID 0bb4:0f91 HTC (High Tech Computer Corp.)
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0001 Linux Foundation 1.1 root hub
So it is recognise, but I can't mount it, the red led on top is always on.
If i press volume up or down, I hear a sound.
So, based on my opinion, it is working, what do you think?
also, do you know how to repair it? and where I can buy online a repair kit?
Thanks everybody in advance.

video for you to decide if you want to try. If it is under warranty I would send it back.
Yeah! Already see it, in your opinion, the phone is working? And where I can buy at the Best price a screen with glass?

Ya, I think it is working. I don't know anything about replacing a screen. Maybe someone more knowledgeable will read this thread and respond. Good luck to ya.
Someone know how much Will htc charge me for a screen replacement?
Sent from my LG-P500 using xda app-developers app
I change the screen on galaxy S2 and was easy, but the One S is more complicated. The screen will cost you from $140 to $180. If you decided to buy new screen, buy with bezel(frame). That way you will not have to mess with adhesive - just put the board back and hook up connectors. It is not for everyone. Cost of repair could be more that working phone from Swappa or Craighlist. I would just get another and keep this one for spare in case you brick it.
Thanks everybody, i called htc costumer Service, and they tell me that the repair cost will be more or less 170 €

Hey peeps,i saw that the Desire HD has USB-OTG mod,so it might be possible to apply that patch over here.
Anybody willing to test?It requires the specific cable for testing!
NOTE-It might burn your motherboard due to excessive voltage/power!

Hi, this idea sounds great! Unfortunately I am (still) too big a noob to try this (as you can see, I just joined this forum).
I was wondering if there is a way to connect a usb peripheral (especially a USB-keyboard) and make the Galaxy S Plus i9001 function as a USB-host.

any phones which didnt have tv-out by company, and devs did it?
If the arc s has (mini) hdmi out, this port is directly connected with the chipboard. You'll see that every msm8255-related board has hdmi connection possibilities when you look on the specification plan / roadmap of qualcomm about this board. It's impossible to use the mini usb port -> usb -> hdmi, by any usb to hdmi converter. There's windows, mac or linux based software needed for output in hdmi.
The sgs, sgs + (and possibly the i9003 as well) got a tv out trough the 3.5 mm jack. There was a thread about it a couple of months ago, since samsung made it impossible to connect it with a universal cable. Samsung changed the connector slightly to force people to buy the official samsung cables for this.

You mean the 3.5 mm to video connectors (3 colors analog connector, I forgot how they're called...)? Samsung should be selling those cables, but I havent searched for them. Camcorders of about ten years back often use them, however they wont work with galaxy s phones, since they made the connection proprietaire...
Getting the mini hdmi output connector on the msm8255 board is impossible of course (or someone should be willing to be soldering a mini hdmi connector on its phone )

if it is possible to build a kernel with usbotg support it should also be possible to make the sgs+ compatible with the car/deskdock
since chrismas i have a original samsung car dock, but as many others i have problems with charging/connecting.
i know the trick with "connecting slowly/half". it works, but this is not very comfortable.
isnt it possible to have a lock in the i9000 files to get the sgs+ compatible.
as far as i know samsung used the ID-Pin (no.4) in the micro usb connector to identify car or desk dock, as it is discribed in the official usb battery charging spec 1.2 ***.usb.org/developers/devclass_docs/BCv1.2.zip
the identification is a simple resistance messuament
and the 3 nominal values are 124k, 68k, 36.5k as discribed on page 56.
so maybe somebody can have a lock in the i9000 files and search for so called AccessoryChargerAdaptor detection (ACA dock).
or maybe someone knows an other way to get the sgs+ charging correctly in the car dock. (audio out isnt important)

No Driver is required
WTF ???
edit : can they prove that this cable works without any driver ? and kernel support ? how will this work without kernel support ? fishy...
it doesn't deny it. it DOES say "compatible mobile devices". if the i9003 isn't currently compatible, then it won't work, but if it is, it will. that's the way people do things without getting in trouble because they warn you that it only works with COMPATIBLE devices. a clever way to sell things without getting into trouble
so, does the seller actually claim, word for word, that it WILL work on an i9003? if not, then just take anyone's word for it (that knows what they're talking about) when they say tv out doesn't work on our device at this time
"no driver is required" is like my camera. nothing has to be installed for me to view pictures on my tv; it's programmed to work using the rca cable

I don't know how bad google trans mangles things converting all languages, but try this:
the seller does not claim it works on i9003 unless they say "it works on i9003". I will not buy it just to see if it works when others say it won't without a modified kernel.

product description is very clear. They have said that cable helps to show audio & vdo contents on tv. Means if u have mp3, vdo files then only it will show on tv. In real term its not a tv out. Tv out means porting mobile screen as it is on tv.

I tested with car bluetooth (blue5) & I could play video with sound on car screen.
does this bluetooth gadget use the 3.5mm jack? no. will it be helpful so people won't worry so much about tv? YES! do all tv's support bluetooth? NO!
provide a link to the bluetooth device and put it in the marketplace for those that want tv out now, and if they're desperate, they can pay for a bluetooth-supported tv too
for everyone else, a refresher AGAIN is that tv out uses the 3.5mm jack. if only audio is connected ON THE PHONE SIDE of the jack, only audio will be put out, so tv out won't work. I believe it's been said that's how our phone is set up currently.
Are you sure about it ? I'm going to buy one next week , any way I'll feedback
I don't think it's fake, i've read about it in a serious magazine.
These cables are available at your Local Electric shop at a price of 100INR or so.
What these cable to is, port over your MP3 to a sound system.
Or your Video to a TV system.
And, TV-OUT technically means that it should be able to show ANY screen ( Be it games, Apps or homescreen) to you Television set.
And, It needs a kernel which supports it!
One can not just od it without drivers.
If it's so, I would not mind paying a $200
So, This is not Tv-Out, This is only Music & Video out

You can play video with sound.
But, You cant play games which is seen on the TV.
And, I dont think it is worth $5!
You get it for $2 in any Indian Electrical shop.
Obviously, If you use the skills of bargaining wisely

Kernel hackers on XDA
I may have a lucrative project for you. My company is looking for someone to help us hack the kernel for an off brand tablet chip. We are in the market for a low cost tablet solution but need it to support USB host and 3g which the low end tablet chipsets do not currently support.
We are discussing put together a fairly large bounty for this project but in the meantime I would love to get XDA's thoughts on what a project like this would take as far as time and what the probability of success.
Please feel free to respond or pm me for further details.

So that is part of the problem. There are multiple options for each.
The basics are we are looking at a Android 3.2 or 4.0 tablet with a rockchip or boxchip processor and at least one usb/micro usb port.
In the meantime we have been looking at using a Archos G9 tablet but have been unable to figure out how to get the device to print and charge from the single micro usb port. It appears the micro usb port cannot charge from host mode (unless there is some sort of internal setting we are missing). Instead we have looked at switching the usb mode via software. The problem is although the device is rooted we do not appear to have the ability to change files in the sys folder.
It is my understanding that were we able to change files in the sys folder we would be able to change the usb mode by:
# echo b_peripheral > /sys/devices/platform/musb_hdrc/mode
# echo a_host > /sys/devices/platform/musb_hdrc/mode
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I recommend using a a500 tablet. It has USB host. You can get them cheap on eBay.

hi there,
would it be possible to use the Raspberry as replacement for a docking station?
Means: using the ports the raspberry provides on the smartphone attached via usb? So the smartphone would be the usb host.
Goal: having a cheaper and better dock for the smartphone.
might be a ridiculous idea.
thx
Anything is possible

well, thx.
im not saying ur answer didnt help, but could u add just a liiiitle more specificity to it?
It should be possible as lo as you can figure out what tells the phone a doc is a doc. The only other issue, and I don't know how much of one it us not much I think, is making them talk to each other.
That's an exciting awesome idea because like he said anything is possible. You could have a really awesome dock that could do anything. I have seen arduino projects that do all sorts of things with phones. Adding raspberry pi power is a great idea.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda app-developers app
im sure they will talk to eachother right away. but not the way i want it. the pi will recognize the phone as an external storage device.but thats not what i want. i want the phone to be "in charge".
maybe its just not possible by hardware design.
there is still the somewaht cumbersome way of using a vnc Client/server combo running on the PI. but thats not very elegant...
Hi
I've got a strange problem: my Vendor ID has changed from original (Captivate) to this:
Code:
ID 04e8:685b Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd GT-I9100 Phone [Galaxy S II]
Seems because of this I can't connect my phone to the computer - it just doesn't see the device.
It began from an CM 11 reinstallation (weird, yep). IMEI changed too, but I've recovered it with an EFI backup.
But how to deal with this problem? Maybe there's an backup that someone could give me and it will help?
Here's the part of syslog
Code:
Jan 16 00:37:49 blacky-PC kernel: [252350.767430] usb 2-1.4: New USB device found, idVendor=04e8, idProduct=685e
Jan 16 00:37:49 blacky-PC kernel: [252350.767441] usb 2-1.4: New USB device strings: Mfr=2, Product=3, SerialNumber=4
Jan 16 00:37:49 blacky-PC kernel: [252350.767447] usb 2-1.4: Product: SGH-I897
Jan 16 00:37:49 blacky-PC kernel: [252350.767453] usb 2-1.4: Manufacturer: samsung
Jan 16 00:37:49 blacky-PC kernel: [252350.775814] usb 2-1.4: can't set config #1, error -71
You see that idProduct 685e isn't valid, it's Galaxy SII's one!
I don't understand anything
It's just bout the USB cable! Changed it - all works well
I was hoping you had found a different cause and solution.
I bricked my Captivate two years ago, I was running CM7 at the time, and used that as a reason to buy a SGS3.
About a year ago I revisited my Cappy hoping to revive it as a backup device. I was able to bring it back to life and installed a stock ROM, and immediately installed CM10.1 and have since updated to 10.2.1. I am using as a it as a media player and GPS sports tracker. Since I am not using it as a phone I have never installed a SIM, AT&T took the old one when I activated the S3. Because of the lack of sim I have no mobile network nor network and have not been concerned. My IMEI has never changed, fortunately.
One thing I did notice was a change in vendor ID and device type when connected to my PC.
Code:
[email protected] ~ $ lsusb
Bus 005 Device 002: ID 18d1:4e22 Google Inc. Nexus S (debug)
I wouldn't mind having a Nexus device, but my Captivate still looks and runs like a Captivate. ;-D
I haven't been too concerned about this anomoly since I haven't been using it as a phone. I have mostly thought it was something in the install script for the ROM that was not correctly set by the dev who ported this to the Captivate. I guess I will find out if it is an issue if I ever purchase a sim to use it as a phone, or if I try to change ROMs.
You know, I don't care very much about this issue now, 'cause after USB cable replacement I finally can connect Cappy to the PC and the connection works fine (ADB, file transfer, etc). Cellular functionality had never disappeared, so here's no problem too.
I was just associating my problems with Cappy<->PC connectivity exactly with that Device ID change. Why? I don't know, but there was the only reason I could imagine.
Now it's even funny to see smth like
ID 04e8:6860 Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd GT-I9100 Phone [Galaxy S II], GT-I9300 Phone [Galaxy S III], GT-P7500 [Galaxy Tab 10.1]
