Modding a ROM

Hello, I need some help.
I want to make my own custom ROM for my Yarvik TAB467 with Android v4.0.4. Well, I have the ROM but,
1. I do not know how to extract the ROM's .img file (WINRAR, 7zip or other apps like Daemon TOOLS won't work);
2. I do not know how to decompile SystemUI.apk after extracting the ROM, then edit it and then recompiling back to apk
3. After I am done, how do I convert the extracted files back to .img?
Please tell me how to do this in the safest way so I won't brick my tablet Dx
Thanks in advance
EDIT: all I want to edit is the NavBar's color and giving it a Galaxy Tab look by the way. Or just the color.

I have made it, specific to our device!
You can download and flash the CWM update.zip on any rom, or extract the logo.bin and flash it via SP Flash Tool!
To completely change the start screen from canvas to Google you will also need the replace the file in system/media/images/boot_logo to the one attached ,download the boot_logo.zip file and extract boot_logo replace with current one!
Done!

[CWM][Aroma][Zip] Funtdo: Brick-no-more when changing system font

Are you afraid to change your system font, because you might brick your phone?
Funtdo, (came up with by fusing font and undo) is a simple flashable zip which will undo or reverse the process made by font changer apps like iFonf to revert the unexpected result (commonly, soft-brick or bootloop).
You can keep a copy of Funtdo in your sdcard before you attempt to change your systemfont, so in-case of soft-brick happens, you can just flash funtdo zip via recovery to restore back your phone.
From Funtdo, you can also choose from selections of font to be installed if you don't want the default system font.
In other words, Funtdo is not only for bricked phones, but also to those who want to change their system font.

Great work, but is there any way that I can put my own fonts inside the zip? Thanks a lot for your work

yes of course...
inside the zip... under the fonts folder...
you can see the three fonts included right?
you can rename your favorite font into one of those inside the folder....
example:
myfavoritefont.ttf --> funtdo-mono.ws
and then replace the one on the zip...
and then flash... and select it... XD
Great, I'll try. Thanks a lot.
its not working in cloudfone 430x..
