Have you checked to make sure the ein is clean through Verizon? I know that bad ein Verizon phones can be used on cricket.

Forcing an update? To 2.36

Hello, I have 2 Galaxy Ss i727s on Straight Talk BYOD sim program.
One of them updated to the newest firmware over wifi, the other one did not. I think this device was never provisioned on AT&T.
Any ideas to update without going root rout, thanks.

try update through kies, it may work. Otherwise root and flash through cwm is your only option

How do I unlock the bootloader on S3 running 4.2.1?

I have searched far and wide and cannot find a bootloader unlock method that will work with the Galaxy S3 that has already been updated to official 4.1.2.
The EZ-Unlock app will not work for 4.1.2 (only 4.1.1 and before)
The open1your1eyes0 method that was updated in February 2013 does not work either: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1974114
What do I do? Until I get my bootloader unlock I cannot do anything.
Phone is currently Build Number: JZ054K.I535VRBMB1

This is what I used on my phone. I watched the video and read the steps multiple times so I was comfortable.

Did that and it didn't work. Had to downgrade to stock 4.1.1 (K3) then use EZUnlock.
Thanks everyone for the input.

dont use it if youre not on 4.1.2 or earlier. youll hardbrick your phone. its a recoverable hardbrick, but a PITA and unnecessary. What baseband are you on?
Need to unlock
Hi all.
I finally had to do a factory reset on my Verizon GS3. Poor performance and yellow factory mode text floating on screen.
I have obtained root access on the phone, however ODIN3 flashing a recovery image fails. My understanding is that I need the bootloader unlocked for that to work. Is there a reliable way to do that?
Edit: running Android 4.4.2
SCH-535
Thanks,
BigMac

Your bootloader is locked forever, unlocking isn't an option.
If you want anything other than stock you'll have to use Safestrap recovery and modified stock ROMs like everyone else with locked bootloader Verizon S3.
Safestrap is deprecated. At least their site says dev. Has stopped. There's probably a fork of it on github somewhere, but any safestrap you find won't be by the original developer.

The Verizon users(on many of the Verizon devices) are currently using Safestrap, the Safestrap they need is here in this forum.

Thanks for saying that. I was actually looking for it myself about a month ago after a soft-brick and gave up when I found the info I posted already.
Is it the original dev or is it open source now?

I don't know, I use the Verizon S3 ROMs on my device but it isn't a Verizon device, but I spend a lot of time in the Verizon S3 forum, I see new users looking to customize their device all the time.
Here's the download for it
forum.xda-developers.com/devdb/project/?id=2405#downloads
Read this thread though, if you have encrypted your data, it will cause bootloop. Yes, it isn't supported anymore, BUT, the Safestrap still available still works.

Does the gsm radio still work or do you use it only on wifi?
Mine is Verizon and I'm on att now, and thought about flashing the stock Att rom but other members on here told me it wouldn't work :s

I use it on Straight talk, my device is a Straight Talk S3 SCH-S968C that uses Verizon towers, my motherboard is actually stamped with the Verizon SCH-I535 model number, its rebranded as Straight Talk's device. Only difference is they disabled the 4G on the Verizon S3 when Straight Talk rebranded it.

No, you can't flash AT&T firmware. That would surely brick your device. You can port the AT&T firmware somewhat easily, they are mostly the same but have different modems and a few other minor differences. I can link you to a thread for porting the US S3 variants.
No that's alright I'm on a note 3 anyway, but I've got a good place to start so thanks!

[Q] Kinda Confused Here..

So guys. I got my VZW GS3 flashed to simple mobile today and it works I got G internet signal and mms and such. But as of now for some reason. On white backgrounds on any app the screen flickers. So it's running bonestock a ,vzw Rom ,do I download Roms for T-Mobile gs3 ? Since simple mobile uses tmobile radios. Or do I still download VZW gs3 Roms and set the apns and such? Will I lose the flash?? Not sure if it was flashed to work or that they unlocked the baseband..
Any advice would be great!!
Im thinking if you paid money for your i535 to be flashed to Simple Mobile... you should ask for a refund.

believe me, i wouldnt do this. My father insisted in switching in order to save a ton of bucks at the end of the month
Were you running BoneStock before the flash? It has been my experience that each S3 is differently when it comes to custom ROMs. A ROM that works for you may not work for me, even though we have identical phones.
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk
You must stick with SCH-i535 ROMs. Especially SCH-i535 kernels and modems. Most ROMs made for other models won't even flash due to self checking Updater-Script. But kernels and modems do not have this check and you will brick if you flash them.

Gotcha, Ill stick to Verizon S3 roms, hopefully i dont lose the flash, not quite sure if they unlocked the baseband though, Global settings should work if i flash a CM10 rom correct?
and by that i mean setting my mobile network to Global and inputting the simple mobile APN?

You should be able to use the simcard when you change the settings to GSM only. I've tried a T-Mobile sim in my i535 both in Bonestock ROM and CM. Didn't test the data, but text msgs and calls worked fine. I used the phone info app to change settings.

help repairing/restoring my phone...

I am trying to flash the phone to an unlocked rom, however i think i dont have the correct files. I also cannot get it back to what it was either.
I am trying to unlock it from verizon and make it so i can use it on AT&T. I'd much rather use this phone (Samsung Galaxy Note Edge) than what i am currently using. (An Alcatel phone).
If anyone can help me, it would be greatly appreciated.
There are no unlocked Roms that turn Verizon Samsung phones into unlocked phones. Put the original ROM back on the phone and have the phone unlocked properly.

i dont have the original rom. I didnt know how to back up that. ive loaded another rom that said it was original and it loaded all the way but after it downloaded it restarted and now its sitting at the red verizon screen with a blue and cyan led blinking. wont do anything else.

You can use Samsung Kies and restore the phones firmware or go to SamMobile.com and download and flash the phones forward with Odin. If that doesn't work, I'll do it over the internet for you but will take a long time to flash over the internet

ok i am downloading now from sammobile.com....its saying its gonna take 2 hours to download. i will report back once i am done flashing to this rom.
