The RUU I prescribed above will take you to stock IF your phone is from T-MO US.
Just go to bootloader then select Fastboot, connect your phone to PC and run this RUU.

You have to run it from your PC, it's an executable file with an extension .exe ... so it will work on PC and not the phone

Yeah that usually means different RUU needed.
Do you know what your phone's CID is?
If you don't know, go to fastboot from bootloader on your phone.
Open a Command window and navigate to the directory where your adb+fastboot files are located and enter this command.
Code:
fastboot getvar cid
It'll help me narrow down the usable RUUs.

Okay then the RUU is correct.
You may have left your bootloader unlocked.
You need to relock it.
Go to Fastboot on your phone and enter this command to lock bootloader from your PC:
Code:
fastboot oem lock
Boot into fastboot again and run the RUU.exe

THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! This fixed y phone now I can return my phone. But I don't think I will ever root or Flash my ROM again lol. Things have changed since I was flashing ROMS.

HTCDev root Unlock issue

Hi,
Since ICS update I have been going insane with the speed of my phone, and today I saw my friends Desire HD running Jelly Bean and it was flying. So naturally I have spent the last 5 hours reading up on how to get it!
I'm an absolute noob with Android, this is my first android and I my other smart phones ran windows 5.5 and 6.5 so however buggy the new OS it can not beat them.
I am confused about a couple of things and I have found many many guides that go in circles. my HBOOTS 1.29
1. Do I need S-off or do I just need my device rooted?
I have found the following guides that seem the most effective:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1661631
2. What is Flashing Firmware and why do I need to do it?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1472298
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1377759
3. It seems the best ROM is this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1782009
Are there anything better?
I don't care about looks, I want the usual phone features, speed, GPS, better battery life and bluetooth connectivity to my external Pressure Variometer (I use it for Paragliding). I don't care about issues with Wifi!
Many Thanks and sorry for repeating previous posts at times
You have 2 options. 1.) S-OFF your device, following the guide you linked. It opens up the whole phone, so after that you can do whatever you would like to. (Recommended)
2.) Unlock your bootloader through HTCDEV.COM website. (If you choose this, you can still install custom roms, but are unable to flash firmware/radio. For more info how to install custom roms with s-on see HERE)
Flashing the newest firmware is "always" an extra. They all come with stability/performance/radio... enhancement. ICS firmwares are 3.32 or 3.33. Whichever you have installed on your device, you are good to go as all recent ICS and Jelly Bean roms are working under both firmware. Some of them recommend 3.33 but are still working on 3.32. As far as I know 3.33 comes with newer radio...?
Rom-wise... It is really up to you what you are looking for and what you expect from your phone. Have a look around in the development section, there are plenty of custom roms/kernel about, either it is aosp/cm or sense based roms. They are all excellent and come with amazing support.
Have fun and good luck! :good:
edit: Have a look HERE too for some more info!
S-on/off
Is it possible to install a ROM on the phone with S-on and on the new rom later turn S-off if required. As I mentioned I'm new so I want to do one step at a time.

Hi,
You do not need to do anything to your phone.
You need to have the correct drivers on your PC.
If you are on a windows 7 or 8 then use THESE DRIVERS

Great, thank you that seemed to have worked I'm going to now proceed with S-off and ROM installation. Will undoubtedly re-post again.
Just one more question, Do I need to delete/format the files off my SD card or not, I have backed up anything of value.
Also the network is not unlocked, would the network be unlocked with a new ROM?

If you can boot into bootloader, flash the proper signed firmware from htc.
Otherwise, more likely is that you have HARD BRICKED your phone. Your only hope then is this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1522351

To use the HTC unbricking project, you need your sensation to be in qhsusb_dload state when you connect it with your pc.
You've got nothing to lose trying though. Also, flashing corrupted files for firmware/radio is probably the top way to brick your device. I'm sorry about your phone but ALWAYS check md5 sum before flashing anything (bootloader/recovery)

[Q] S-OFF'ing the HTC One S4 - Fastboot not working

Hi everyone,
I need a little help here as I find myself stuck between a lot of possibilities and I don't know which one to take or generally what to do.
My girlfriend has an HTC One S4 with unlocked bootloader (HBOOT 2.15), recovery installed, running Viper ROM 3.1.
However because she only has the 1.15 RADIO on the device it tends to reboot quite a lot and she can't have a phone that reboots that often to use on a daily basis.
I want to S-OFF the device so I can upgrade the RADIO.
I've heard of Moonshine method and rumrunner method, however both of these only work with fastboot drivers installed and working.
This is not the case for her S4. I have a desktop (win 8.1, with USB 2 and USB 3.0) and a laptop (win 8.0 with only USB 3).
And none of them can find the device when it is connected while in fastboot. Therefore I can't S-OFF the device that way..
Could anyone point me in the right direction or have some suggestions on what to do?

No I haven't tried with an Ubuntu Live CD, and tbh I'm not that well known in the Linux systems.
Well I installed the Google Drivers from the "Android SDK Manager" and I tried a lot of different methods I found on posts alike.
The problem is that neither of my two computers can find the device when it's connected and in fastboot.

Is it a unbranded phone hboot 2.15 eu ??
For me Facepalm was the only wotking one.
The biggest problem is that without adb and fastboot working, you probably won't get anywhere.
The reason I mentioned the Ubuntu live CD is that I have working fastboot and adb and still had problems with windows 7.
I finally created the Ubuntu live CD (actually USB) and it worked. It doesn't take too long to create the live CD/USB and it's worth a try.

Well tbh I don't know if it is unbranded - Since I don't know what that term means.
We live in Denmark and I think she got the phone from germany - bought on a sale somewhere.
Whenever it was booting up (before I rooted and unlocked the bootloader) it came with a splash screen saying "T-Mobile".
Does that mean it is branded to T-Mobile?

The LiveCD/LiveUSB sounds like an idea and will be my first attempt after "trying" Win 7.
Does the moonshine S-OFF method only support Stock ROM/Firmwares?
I guess I am to try the rumrunner method once on the LiveCD/LiveUSB.
Thanks in advance and again I will return when I know more

Well USB debugging is enabled on the device, however it doesn't show the USB debugging icon on the phone that it does when connected to a Windows PC.
I will try to check is ADB is active later tonight.

the thing is i don't know if adb/fastboot is working on windows 10
there was connectivity issues even on windows 8/8.1
also AFAIK there are no drivers for windows 10 yet
if you want to make your simcard free for any network S-OFF is mandatory
you must make adb/fastboot to get working
and i think windows 10 is a problem
by the way have you enabled usb debugging mode from settings?

Seens it was advised Windows 10 was incompatible, I now have Windows 7 on my PC so giving it another go,
No doubt I will be posting back cos this process has been the most difficult out of all the phones ive done
So I have to unlock the bootloader, achieve S Off, then run a file to remove the sim lock.
Wish me luck
Hmm, still trying!! No luck
Gone from 1 thing to another, every time I try something I need something else first so now am back like 6 steps
Following this link....
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pCwEbh_JsI8
Got to the Control Bear.exe part but message saying "Device needed to be HTC unlocked"
So went to here >>>> http://www.htcdev.com/bootloader/
Which gave me Fastboot.exe, try to run and get error
The program cant start because AdbWinApi.dll is missing, so I google this and I need SDK Tools installing
So I go here >>>>>> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=781386
I downloaded Android Studio which installed Android SDK Manager so thats done,
But seems I do not have C:\android-sdk-windows
So I found I had SDK folder here >>>> C:\Users\Lee\AppData\Local\Android\sdk
So I moved the Android directory to C:\
Can anybody help, this is really annoying me now
I also have the dll file in a folder I downloaded while following the Youtube video
temproot-sensation-windows
This so far has cost me like over 10 hours of messing round, i clearly do not know what I am doing but all I want to do is take the sim lock off this phone!!!!!!

about S-OFF if your bootloader is locked see this S-OFF guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1661631
it doesn't require htcdev method
i will send you the files via pm
Its S-Off now so looking for recovery so I can flash a rom,
cm-11-20141207-Sultan-pyramid
I have read I need a particular recovery to use this, the one I downloaded was an APK but as am still on stock it hasnt worked
Now I am having major trouble with PG58IMG.zip
I have put onto root of SD card so when I HBOOT it tries to install, but says no IMG file
So I do the fastboot way by copying in the fastboot directory and following the relevant commands, seems to finish OK
But still no recovery,
Now I am seeing ***LOCKED*** at top of my screen???? is this right????
Words fail me how ridiculous this process is just to remove the SIM lock??????
Now I am trying with PG58DIAG in the root of my SD card
This attempts to run but I get a security fail!, Update Fail!
Can someone please help
Thanks

HTC One A9: Remove Hard Brick?

Hi, guys!
Does anyone know how to unhard-brick A9? I killed HBOOT accidentally. Now it's only detected as Qualcomm Device and nothing is being loaded?
I have patched in hex editor and removed all that annoying text that came in red (without changing the checksum) from `aboot.bin`, that I extracted with `dd` from mmcblk0p12 partition. Later, I ran `fastboot flash aboot aboot.bin` under download mode and it didn't work (I also tried it under `fastboot oem rebootRUU`); Writing mmcblk0p12 partition with `dd` under `adb shell` also did not do anything..
Then I rebooted to bootloader and ran `fastboot flash aboot aboot.bin`. The message was - success. I happily rebooted and that was the end of the my HTC One A9 .
Is there a way to fix this dead phone - it's hard bricked!?
Also, could anyone explain, why it happened. I felt like I was doing everything correctly?
Thanks

Post an photo of device manager please [emoji14]

You mean how it's detected under Windows Device Manager? It's actually different in Windows/Linux. I use Linux. But I could reload into Windows?
Thanks, here is the screen-shot of device manager, in case I got you correctly?
So, should I throw it away now?

I don't think there is a solution yet. You need a programmator (device) to fix it. Take it back to store. They should give you your money back or take it to HTC support, they will fix it very quickly, in case they have a special device.

They could actually. Do you have bootloader dead? If you hold power + volume-up, does the screen show anything (bootloader)?
Or it's black no matter what?

It's easy to fix. Your bootloader is not dead. When I get home I'll find exact instructions for you.

Meanwhile, tell me - do you want CM or get back to stock?
I would like to install cm13, but the problem that i had is that the updates doesn't work any more for me as since Mail i think cm13 updates are based on 1.57 firmware version and my firmware was 1.27 version.
I would like to upgrade the firmware first before installing the last nightly cm13.
I hope you understood what i mean.
Thanks a lot.
Regards,
My problem was opposite. Back then I couldn't install CM because it didn't work with 1.56 and I had to downgrade from 1.56 to 1.27.
Can not say what is now. If you sure that you have version 1.27 installed and it still doesn't work then you need to upgrade to 1.56.
Go here and download latest ZIP firmware for your region (phone): http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-a9/general/wip-ruu-htc-one-a9-t3240344
Then flash it by going to Bootloader (turning phone off and then holding together power and volume down) - search Google or check here if doesn't work - http://www.technewscentral.co.uk/enter-fastbootbootloader-mode-htc-one/id_7930
To flash RUU just rename downloaded RUU file to 2PQ9IMG.zip, put it to the flash card and load in Download mode.
It will delete all data from your phone. It's worth trying to make a backup of your data partition first (in case you have apps and its important data). Afterwards, flash CM, and try to reboot. If it works. Flash custom recovery and then restore data partition.
In case it doesn't load, then I can't tell what exactly to do. Like I already said, I had to downgrade to 1.27 to make CM work 6 months ago. CM might change by now and now requires 1.56 to load. It's normal and very possible.
You might search Google to find out how to flash only firmware.zip without deleting data all the time. Back then it didn't work for me.
To downgrade firmare (just in case you need this), just goto to adb mode and run the following code to be able reflash 1.27 version again (need to change the version number to something lower than 1.27 and only then 1.27 RUU zip could be flashed)
Code:
adb shell
echo -ne "1.10.401.7\x00\x00" | dd of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p28 bs=1 seek=2208
exit
adb reboot bootloader
Good luck.
