Yeah I already know that, but I'm not in the sprint sg3 section for a reason!
I need to know. can Verizon sg3 be flashed to boost?

No [email protected]#t that's why I said that if you had a sprint GS3 you can. So far there hasn't been anyone who has successfully pull it off mainly because of the fact that boost is own by sprint therefore uses sprint's network.

No [email protected]#t genius!

Look what you asking for is very difficult to pull off and you are not the only one who asked this question. The most that have been accomplished was 3G data and the basic talk and maybe even text if you google it you will only find stuff from June to December 2012. You might have to check the sprint sg3 section to see if their methods apply to all GS3 variants since they are still active in that department.

[NS4G] Nexus S 4G on MetroPCS?

MetroPCS does not have this phone listed in it's list of flashable phones.
How might I get this working? If I were to get my hands on a MetroPCS ROM for another android device, is it possible I could piece together a working ROM? Or does anyone have any other ideas?
It's currently set up for Sprint (clean ESN for Sprint, not that it matters much for what I'm trying to do).
....... no
one rom for 1 phone doesn't work for another. it requires work to port
Yep, I got that. I was more asking if there is something I can get from an existing metropcs ROM to clue me in onto what changes to make.
If I reset the SPC, upload a metropcs PRL, and I'm assuming change any wap settings to use metropcs's internet... is that enough? Or is there really more to it than that?

the answer is no.
WiMAX isn't even on MetroPCS. It uses LTE. There is just way too much difference in terms of radios and frequencies.

Ahhh. Thanks for the info. Guess I'll activate on Sprint then. Anything to get away from AT&T right now, service in my areas has been horrible for months.
Metropcs nexus S`
Well obviously the 4g portion of it is different.
Now the evdo and supposedly 3g should work on are where metropcs has it.
Its no problem otherwise you can do everything you can with the nexus, just at a slower Internet speed.
You should probably be able to follow a tutorial for a samsung phone.
Is it possible to get an unlocked CDMA Nexus S so that I can use it with Metro PCS. Which brings up another question, would Metro PCS allow me to use the Nexus S on their service?
Technically, the Nexus S as well as the Nexus S 4G are "unlocked" and can be rooted with no special hacks. I would imagine that MetroPCS can develop their own ROM along with a radio and make it available on their site if users choose to do that. I don't believe there is anything in Sprint's contract which would cause a lawsuit for doing that.
The question is if MetroPCS will allow this phone on their network... it's up to them but I don't see why not, as they don't make money on phones anyway (I think)

Why would MetroPCS make a ROM for a phone that is unsupported? They'd have to go to Google to make a compatible phone in the first place.
Why would they spend money on making a ROM for the Nexus S? That just makes no sense. A radio is also not open-sourced. Radios can only be created by Samsung or Google for the Nexus S.
Get your facts straight
Whoever asked the thread said nothing about ROMs. He asked if an unlocked nexus s could be flashed over to metro which it should be able to.

Try these for starting points. May be more, but I recalled seeing these threads. I know there's also a bounty to unlock a couple of the other GSM bands.

Yeah sory I was manly jus twondering what all is possible its nice to know I can flash to prepayed or T-Mobile but honestly what I realy want to do is flash it to boost. I should have been more clear sorry. but I'm sort of confused because boost tech support says they don't use SIM cards anymore. and the latest device on there network is a Samsung Galaxy s3. so I'm not sure. is there both a gsm and cdma versions of the sg3? I believe the sg3 on boost network is a sprint version.

Boost uses Sprint phones because they are owned by Sprint. I am pretty sure Verizon phones can not be flashed to boost. To my knowledge Sprint phones don't use removable SIM cards do a flash would not be possible

Questions and request for assistance go in the Q&A section not in the General section.

The short answer is no it can not be done Verizon is a cdma phone the other is a GSM phone.
Have a great day!
Post #48. If you do not have data, you need to root and edit your APNs using the steps on the first page. Highest speeds you'll get for T-Mobile/AT&T are Edge (2G).

Actually, there is a GSM setting on the phone, and from my understanding, the GS3 is a world phone, and I think the I535 has the proper antennas to work on AT&T's 4G network, but I may have to look into that. It was something me and one of my coworkers were gonna try, but never got around to and he is now in the military, he had a AT&T GS3, me a Verizon, and we were gonna SIM swap and see if it worked. Hardware seems to support it would, but the big question is why?

Unless there's a breakthrough in this bounty thread, highest speeds you'll see on AT&T or T-Mobile are Edge. Hardware supports "up to" HSPA in other countries given differences in frequencies. Not sure I get your question of "why?" though. Samsung made this phone to support virtually every carrier in the US and it makes more sense to hardware lock (or carrier lock or whatever the technical term is) phones to only have access to most common frequencies in that region.
My question as to why is to the whole carrier swap. When you sign a new contract, you get a new phone, adding a customer owned device doesn't change plan price, but does maintain the upgrade eligibility. As far as I know, the major players haven't started releasing specs on next years devices. So, why the want to take a Verizon GS3 to AT&T is what i'm wondering.
Agreed, although I could understand if he said T-Mobile it makes good sense on their new plans. This just isn't a good idea trying to bring it to AT&T

Yea, I always thought AT&T had similar pricing as Verizon (expensive) but I'm not one to inquire into folks personal decisions on switching carriers with this phone. I'm only interested in doing so when I travel overseas. Everyone has different needs, you know?

Yup, same process for AT&T and T-Mobile so long as you have the respective sim. I'm unsure if you can edit and save APNs on stock which is why I say if you have no data then you need to root for the method I linked to. You can get calls easily on stock, just have to adjust Network Mode accordingly.

I'm tellin you this works man. I was leary about it at first because all I have ever heard is that its impossible to get anything but edge on straight talk with a Verison S3. Its not true. This guy knows exactly what he is doing it took about 30 min from start to finish but what he did worked perfect. No 4g but 3g works like a charm. I highly recommend this for anyone needing it. heres the link to the post.

There are a lot of threads on this and I believe that the consensus is that while possible, there will be issues with mobile data. Depending on which carrier you're looking at there is a good chance that you will not have access to 3G or 4G mobile data. This is because the Verizon version of this device does not support all of the radio frequencies you'd need to use AT&T, T-Mobile, etc. There is a lot more to the story though and you should find/read those other threads because there are many.

I'm almost sure it can be used on most pre paid carriers. IE: straight talk, page plus and so on. But you are correct in saying that bringing it to another carrier like T-Mobile or att it won't work sadly like it should
