Play Store Problems - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Does anyone know why the play store won't allow me to download certain apps? I've tried the portal app and instagram and both of them give me an error message after it downloads saying, "Package file is invalid." I've tried clearing data and cache for the play store and still it doesn't work. I had the same issues with my Droid x2 with the same apps.

Update: So for anyone experiencing this same problem I found a solution on Android Central forums. I turned off wifi and downloaded the apps using my 4G and it worked flawlessly. Not sure why it experiences this problem when trying to download or update over wifi with certain apps.

I have had the 403 error and did the same thing. On WiFi I get issues on 4g it works fine. No clue why though.

Google said they are aware of the problem and are working on a solution.

[Q] amazon app store down? cant sign in

I am unable to log in to the amazon app store. Tells me there is a temporary error and this has happened since yesterday. Anyone else or a fix?
Its working for me but it is very slow. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the app.

I have the same problem. I have no issues on my old backup of unity but if I flash any other ROM i cant sign into the app store. Says temp error.
Figured it out. I had to many devices registered under amazon. I went through and de-registered them and I got right into the app store.

Market won't let me purchase

I'm running CM7 and had an issue I noticed yesterday with my market. I am able to download free apps and games as well as update currently installed apps. I am unable to purchase new apps and I get a generic error message stating "An error occurred. Please try again"
Anyone else having this issue and is there a way to fix this?
Btw running market 3.2

I dug myself a deeper hole now i cant even run market cause im getting com.android.vending force close which i havent been able to fix for the past 3 hours. Market Enabler might be the soloution for the initial problem however.
My issue on my Evo was market 3.2. I had to go back to 3.1.3 and let it update to 3.1.5. After that no problems

[FIX] Google Play download/connection problems

Many people have been asking why Google play either fails to download apps or fails to connect at all, so here's a few things that might fix it!
1) Clear the Cache from Google Play in your settings.
(Settings > Applications > Google Play > Clear cache)
2) Try removing your Google account and re-adding it
3) Seems obvious, but try turning your internet of and on
4) Try rebooting your device
5) restart your internet (Through your main hub)
If non of these work, you may be best contacting Google to get it checked out!
Hope this helps

Also tried everything. Even complete uninstall of the play store through titanium backup and reinstall manually the apk. No luck. Internet working fine, only market is dead. The strangest thing is that it was working well, I did not modify anything, then it stopped working.
Please help
If you've tried everything above, you could try restoring your phone. This would be a pain but if you back everything up first shouldnt be too much of a problem. Or you could just leave it a week or so and see if it starts working . If not, I'd say contact Google.

That's the obvious last solution, but it doesn't really make sense. There must be a reason for the market to be doing this. I also tried manually installing a few different versions of the play store apk, not just the latest one. Still the same results.
I know what you mean. Maybe certain devices can sometimes have trouble accessing the market itself, or maybe its just a temporary thing with the Google servers.

1 more thing.
If you patched any app using lucky patcher, it would have created an odex file in data/app. In order to install it again, you should delete that .odex file.
Sent from my muffin LIFE! Under maintenance.!
I don't recall having used Lucky Patcher. Sadly I will never find out what went wrong. Flashed another rom. It was time for a change anyway
I will try this trick
I think also, if you install a ROM or have a device that does not come pre installed with Google play, that flashing Gapps may be better! Because I've tried manually installing the play store using an apk before. And most of the time it won't downloads apps. Try to flash Gapps as that may solve it. You can get gapps by searching for it followed by your android version on Google ^_^ good luck

I had a similar issue where my rommed kindle fire either couldn't connect or was unable to download apps from the play store. On connecting to the store the device details failed to register at all limiting greatly the available downloads.
Resolved the issue by using a gmail address for logging into the play store. For some reason using email other than gmail caused an issue.
Also removing/hiding unused devices in play store allows you to reconnect devices correctly it seems.

I thought you had to have a Google account/Gmail to sign in to the play store anyway?

I think the registration process creates (or allows you to create) a gmail address but you can log into play store with the non-gmail address used to register. Unfortunately it seems doing so causes download problems.

Try using it with a gmail address then? Other than what I suggested I'm not sure to be honest. My last solution was to contact Google but they can't give a lot of support to custom ROMs.

I had this same problem with my LG Optimus V, famous for this kind of thing. The first time this happen, I clicked on settings, then Applications, then Manage Applications. Then clicked ALL, then Google Play Store. Then I clicked on Force Stop, then Clear Data, then Clear Cache. Then run Google Play Store and agree to terms. This always worked for me using Froyo 2.2.2 -- When that didn't work, I un-installed the updated Google Play Store and reverting back to the basic one.
Later on this problem happened again, but this time it was when I rooted and flashed a custom ROM. I started getting the error message the file didn't download, but this time it was also telling me the file couldn't download because of low memory. Go figure, Optimus V only have 256 megs of internal ram, but anything below 100 megs gives the the Google error. So just before tossing my phone in the trash I read a post somewhere here on XDA forum that showed step by step how to partition a microSD card and link the second partition as internal memory using an app called Link2SD.
So I tried it on a 16 GB card and after rebooting my phone, it fixed it. Never had the problem again. Plus my Optimus V thinks there is 1GB of internal ram now. Being most phones today have 1GB or more internal ram, there should be no reason for this kind of error.

Hey Guys,
Regarding the latest Play Store update there's this annoying new feature (I was hoping it was some kind of bug) that stacks any updated apps at the top of the "My Apps" list and I find it really annoying.
Is there any way of clearing them so they go back into the list ? Google Maps is still there from 2 days ago and now I have another stuck up there and it looks untidy.

This may or not help you, but give this a read:

From what I read so far, you need the updated Google Play App v3.9+ it gives you the ability to select which apps to remove from your "My Apps List" Hope this helps.

Play Store throwing *DF-PFA-02* error can't retrieve information from server

after ****ing around with a google wallet exploit for my S3 which I probably shouldn't have done (build.prop modding?)...the google play store home page throws a dreadful error of "error retrieving information from server DF-PFA-02" I cleared the app cache for the play store, google services framework, tried to remove my card on google wallet, re flash, wipe everything. Still throws this error. And this error code is not very known either, so my searching in google was cut short...especially the "DF-PFA-02" error
it works if i downgrade the play store to the android market, AND it works if I use my other google account. AND the new 4.0 "phonesky" apk play store homepage works
due to certain reasons, I would like to keep my old play store version, before the 4.0 overhaul
I can download apps and apparently update them..I just can't openly browse anymore D:
i'm pretty witty when it comes to android hacking and modding and troubleshooting..but i'm at my wits end here unfortunately....you guys are my only hope
Thanks

Also getting the same error on the AT&T S4. Just started happening now. Of course it happens right as I'm trying to download Tapatalk to peruse xda.
Seems common for some reason. Happening to me as well on the Verizon S3.

Install the newest version and it fixes it.
Because the old version is exploitable with in-app purchases, so Google is forcing you to get the new one, so its not just happening to me.
But my other Google account works fine with it?..

Thanx for pointing out the obvious and I take some blame for that.
Yes, I read the last two post before posting but I can see how I didn't make that clear when I asked the question.
I meant to ask: did you install the new playstore (which still isn't available to the public via an update) to fix the problem OR did you find a solution to fixing the current version?

Google Play Music

So the new update refuses to work on my VZW G Note II. After installing I choose my account, followed by a freeze and a force close. Then about 30 seconds later, while not in the app, a freeze followed by Google Play Music FC again.
I can use the backup of the previous version but would really love to try the update. I'm posting here because (note in my device/ROM thread) I've seen various reports of this issue on many other devices.
Is this a known random issue? If so, has anyone been able to resolve it? All responses are appreciated.

Try an uninstall and then reinstall. This was a common issue I heard.

I've tried that. Tried installing the newest directly from the Play store. I've tried my backup followed by updating from Play. I've tried an apk from someone else, all no go. Kinda sucks, I think it's an app problem though not specifically a device so hopefully we'll see an update.

Looks like the update doesn't like too many songs. Deleted a few hundred and it works.
