Hi I am having problems trying to update my Xperia L I am on Build Number 15.0.A.1.31 so as you can see i was unable to receive the update of build number 15.0.A.1.36 or 15.0.A.2.17 I have tried updating Over The Air but the phone says I already Have latest updates installed also tried using PC Companion but that also says the phone has no new updates. I am in the UK and haven't received any updates from the day I took it out the box. The bootloader IS NOT UNLOCKED and the phone IS NOT ROOTED. Can anyone explain why I am having these problems and give me a solution to update my xperia?
probably the updates are not available. check the drivers.
solution is to flash any .17.ftf file via flashtool, i think it even works without unlock/root (heard of it... just try) or unlock and root if you cant wait

My PC companion was telling me the same but SEUS did the update...
Hope to work for you too...
Are you a Generic UK ? Phone bought outside the network ?
I have same story here, I bought generic phone free of sim-lock and other sh*t stuff from network provider and I haven't received any updates too.
But you can always change the customization number to CE 3/4/5 and then PCC will find update. I have done that and phone works perfectly well on 2.17 update.
I have a question ,if i flash the leatest .17 firmware using flashtool i lose the warranty? My phone is not from any service,it is bought from a shop.
as far as i know you don't.
The .ftf file is created from sonys official rom and so contains no malware at all. Sony would only control if you unlocked bootloader as you can only do damage to your phone by unlocking bl (like through overclocking) but i wouldnt give you guarantee about that...

Thanks everyone for your help. i have tried SUS but same problem. Yes i bought the phone off virgin mobile online however got it sim lock free and it is a generic UK. Can you please tell me how to change the customization number? I don't really want to root as I only got the Phone last week as mucked up my last htc by doing so. If the only safe way is to wait then i will do. Thanks everyone once again :good:
Why you don't flash the last firmware using flashtool?

To change the customization number you need to root. But don't worry it isn't but. You won't bootlooped your phone. When you rooted you have to do PART A: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2355982 and after you done it just use apk called "Voodoo OTA RootKeeper" and deteled the root. Because phone won't update because of root. But if you really afraid of root flash a FTF without thick "wipe data" and the system will change and all your stuff will stay.

and it will be very laggy till you deactivate the bloatwareapps

So basically he will have to root no matter what he will do. I think changing customization number would be easier. But that is my opinion.

ok.. what's the point of this post? :silly:
Finding out when we will be able to dump that pitiful 4.3.
I am usually not keen for the the latest, and greatest version no.
Three years ago I got Neo V, last of Sony Ericsson line of phones. It came with 2.3.4 then it got its last update to ICS which was disappointing (laggy, a lot of ads, automatic brightness not working properly, wifi drops etc.)
And back to that time Sony was not listening to their customers. They were (and still) answering to a question with another question, rather to giving a possible solution. But today we have sources, in those days developers were forced to write hacks to make things work and fix Sony mistakes, instead of that, it is still great phone, now owned by my father. I see tradition continued with Xperia 2012 line and later. But instead of bad software updates Sony phones are a good combination of value and quality, that's why I choosed M2 instead of LG G2 Mini or something else rather than Sony. So, this 4.3 is expectedly working without any problem so far (not even a single freeze or lag), and hope Sony will not mess up again. Phone is more than capable of running 4.4 even with a lot of unneeded apps we would probably get. I am surprised I got box, foursquare and some other useful apps rather than junk like FIFA and Music Unlimited I got on Xperia Neo V. We have root and cwm already and CM11 will come in time, so nothing to worry about
Gesendet von meinem D2303 mit Tapatalk
True, I bought the M2 since it has a low resolution screen and a fairly high battery capacity compare to the resolution and the Snapdragon S400. I have been using it as my daily driver, no complains at all. Now all I need is an official "move apps to sd card" so that I can save some more internal storage. CM11 is nice for a change, and maybe Android L if possible ( depends on the T2 ultra developers, or maybe someone else )
I have the Neo V myself, IMO, this device simply does not have technical resources running a higher version than 2.3.4 too well.
I have a V, it runs well with ICS, JB 4.1.2, but not with 4.3. It does however run well with KK (Omnirom).
I have the M2. Admittedly it runs better than my V under 4.3. But I keep on reverting to my V with KK, it is even better. In the first place, memory management is better.
According to GSMArena, Sony has started to roll out Kitkat updates to the branded versions of the M2.
Not sure I want to update though, I like my SD card being writable. And who knows if the rooted status will survive the update...

If you manage to root w locked BL, pls. post the method. Or just post the entire ftf.
On Neo V there was trick to flash kernel from older release, root then flash again kernel.sin from current release. But it was still ICS, not sure if it will work for kitkat using jellybean kernel. Just an idea
I read somewhere there is a runtime check to block rooting.
Still waiting for kitkat on D2305
Anyone here still waiting for official update to show? I refreshed Updates many times, but still nothing.

I don't think it has made it to Germany yet (nor Austria), at least not to the unbranded phones. According to XperiFirm, only O2 branded phones have it for now. Switzerland seems to have the update already, though.
Yes, mine is unbranded, thanks.

I have a D6603 from the Sony Store running on AT&T. I still haven't received the Lollipop update OTA, or on Sony Companion. I don't want to push it through from XperiaFirmware, as I'm scared to brick it. Any reason why the OTA still hasn't come over?

Usually the service providers are slow to push updates, sometimes not at all. I am sure your device shall get the OTA but it would take a bit more time. Stay patient.
If you wish to flash Lollipop now, I suggest you do it with a flashtool. However, make sure you use device specific FTF or you will brick your phone.

The Z3 is unlocked from the Sony Store. AT&T doesn't even offer the phone so it shouldn't have to go through AT&T for them to push the update.

Odd, I have every z3 variant from Sony.com ver to Japan docomo ver and other than the dual sim model, all are on most current 5.0 now...maybe try removing the sim and attempt update notice via wifi only?
I update all of mine with no sim.

Do you have to leave the SIM card out for a long period of time? I left it out for an hour or so, no update, and tried connecting to Sony Companion with no SIM and still nothing.

Hi everyone
I have just purchased my first Sony phone, the Z5.
It is on Vodafone UK but has been officially unlocked. I wish to debrand and put on stock Sony android software so remove the network branding. Can someone pleas ehlpe as I have never done this before. I have just downloaded flashtool.
My second question - If I use flashtool to change to stock software, will I still receive OTA updates for future software updates rather than having to use flashtool all the time?
Thanks in advance.
Yes, with official firmware everything will be fine.

Hi to all, sorry if I port afloat this old thread.
I have a Z5 with a MM branded firmware (TIM Italy). I already know how to debrand it flashing another compatible firmware.
My question is: is it necessary wipe all data, also if I flash another MM firmware?
By what I read, I understood that if I stay on the same major update (in this case MM) I shouldn't meet any kind of problem also if I didn't wipe all. Is it right?
Thanks to all
Hello everyone! Seems we're going to get root soon on locked bootloader in lollipop, so we can backup the TA partition before unlocking. The question is, can we downgrade from MM to LP without unlocking the bootloader?
You know how google, do you? You can, download the Firmware and flash it via Flashtool.

Yes, I did google. Saw a couple of post about the Z5P, but I'm comming from motorola and they are a little bit special when it comes to downgrade, because of the bootloader. So I want to be sure because I have almost zero exprecience with sony.
Anyway, no need to be rude. Thanks!
You can downgrade with no problems bootloader locked or not as the above poster said flashtool and xperifirm is your friend. I don't have access to links atm

I'm new to this forum so please forgive me. When I bought my Z5 from Vodafone UK, it was running Lollipop 5.1.1 and ran all the apps I wanted flawlessly. Since the update to Marshmallow, ACR and NetVu ObserVer now do not, the developer of ACR cannot work around this so I need to back date the firmware. I have downloaded XperiFirm and Flashtool but can only find 32.0.A.6.200 for EE. I would have preferred the stock Vodafone firmware, but will the EE one do?
any firmware will do as long as those apps work. some branded firmwares have differnt splash screens. thats pretty much the only difference
Thanks for your reply, I'm not bothered about any splash screen but something I noticed is a file named simlock. As EE lock their phones to their network only I take it this file needs omitting?
Regards, John.
Hi,
I just got the new Xperia Z5 from Vodafone. but it has android 5.1.1, I tried using the PC and OTA but still can't find the 6.0 for my device.
Any idea what could be wrong? or is its not released for this one yet.

I tried but still not working , probably had to wait until vodafone releases the update with their bloatware.
any other way to update?
Using Xperifirm and flashtool you can download and install an official MM firmware. The process is quite simple and there are many guides on how to do it. Make sure to backup your data in pcc before update.
