Bricked? - Transformer TF300T Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello, I recently fixed the LCD on my TF300T after not using it for a few months and wanted to install a new rom. I guess I accidentally pressed reboot in "recovery" while it was on, and since then my tablet will not boot past the asus logo. If I hold the power button, it will shut off then turn back on and be stuck int he asus logo. But if i hold the volume up button while holding the power button, it will shut off. I can not return it or anything since it is unlocked and it has been a while since I bought it. Is this the definition of a "bricked" device? Is there any way I can put a OS or recovery file into my SD card and have it auto boot sort of like a computer?
Thank you,
Jae Cho

I tried following the steps but I could not get past the ASUS logo

What happens with volume DOWN and power being held down? If you can get to the bootloader you are probably not hard bricked.

soft brick!!

i rooted and bootload unlocked on 2.20 flashed boot.img via fastboot and then flashed cm10. everything work fine. then i decided to flash codename. first thing i did was flash codename boot.img before i did anything and thats where i messed up. cant get into fastboot with power and volume up+down it just goes to htc screen with red warning sign. and when i try to boot up phone it gets to home screen and keeps forclosing not allowing me to do anything....
it sounds like you lost recovery, keep trying to get into bootloader then flash twrp again.

wont let me get into bootloader. the power and volumes just keeps booting the phone up and stuck on infinite forclosing
happend to me a few minutes ago it was nasty try to shut down the phone and then
before it loops quickly power+volume down and after the one xl buttons stop flashing hold the
volume down and keep holding it until bootloader shows up
press and hold power button until capacitive buttons flash 6 times. then hold volume down. phone will boot into bootloader. carry on from there.
The problem is you weren't holding the right keys to get into bootloader.... and everything is fc'ing because your running codenames kernel on cm10.

Prerequisite troubleshooting new tablet

Hi guys, new on the forums.
I just wanted to introduce myself and say hello
Also, I just bought a TF700 for a killer price and he told me that someone (either him or someone else) tried to root the tablet and messed up. I've been told by the guy I've bought it from that it just stays at the Asus bootup logo.
Based on my reading from around the xda-dev board, the first thing I should check is see if Fastboot is installed/enabled. If so I should be in good shape and be able to restore the tablet, correct?
Overall I'm jumping into working with this tablet not knowing its condition so I'd like to know what my procedure should be to a) determine the problem and b) fix it.
Thanks guys!

Not good...So with the device is OFF. hold volume down button first, then the power button next, you only see "boot loader unlocked" ? try to hit the volume up button twice and wait a bit, what do you see?

I followed the procedure per your instrux. Still same result of "This device is unlocked" message in upper left corner. Pushed Vol up 2x, nothing. The device resets every 2 minutes or so.
That being said, I am able to boot into APX mode, however the drivers I found don't seem to be compatible with the device.
I think an issue may be that because of the fact that I'm stuck in this infinite boot loop the device never really turns off and therefore I can't get it into recovery. I think what I'm going to do is let it drain the battery and then charge it back up and try to get it into recovery mode off of a fresh power up.

Sounds like it is hard bricked to me - no fast boot and no recovery. Only known way to fix is either presaved nvflash blob files (which I doubt you have from the info above) or send it back to Asus to replace motherboard.

[Q][UNBRICK] Is my TF700 a brick OR asleep in APX MODE?

Hello everyone,
This is my first post here so forgive my errors (if any):
I have tried a few things on my TF700:
1. I have installed the rooting tool from asus website and after activating it,
The first boot scrren said (on top left corner) "the device is unlocked"
When running the app again it would give an error.
2. I tried soft reset - nothing there.
3. I went for hard reset - I accidently went for the left most icon....
After a little investigation on a few pages here I think it is in APX mode..???
It turns on but stays in the first screen with the white ASUS logo on screen & thats it...
Any ideas anyone???
How do I save my precious TF700??
I tried connecting to it through USB installing (Linux):
cat > /etc/udev/rules.d/60-nvflash.rules <<END
# nvflash support for Nvidia Tegra systems attached to USB
SUBSYSTEM=="usb", ATTR{idVendor}=="0955", ATTR{idProduct}=="7820", MODE="0660", GROUP="plugdev"

If you use the Asus unlock tool, you should not brick your device. It looks like that you wipe your system some how. I am guessing here... Can you do some test for me? If you on the Asus screen, just press the power button for about 10 seconds until it shuts down and then keep holding the power button with the volume down at the same time until you are going back to the three icons, thanks. I just want to see if you can get back to your recovery...

Than you for you reply...
I already tried that...it just loops the same shut down to ASUS LOGO screen with no response to the volume down button.
I also let it run out of power so to try & get it out of this loop which resembles an APX loop but in vain...it just keeps on powering up to the same state...
Will give it another go....
There isn't even a pause where I can slip the volume down button in, that is why I let it run out of power to slip the volume down button in...& that is what I am going to do now...let it charge for a short while and power it up with the volume down button (which did not work for several tries...)

Did anyone refer you my suggestion of it being in APX mode??
What happens if I put a micro SD Card in the slot??
What is that left most logo on the hard reset screen?
What is that right most logo on the hard reset screen?

If an SD Card does function, what do I need to have on it in order to restore the state of my ASUS to functional?

The device will enter in APX mode only with the Volume UP + Power buttons combo and to get out of that mode you need to hold the Power button for at least 10 seconds.
If you can't get to the bootloader menu (the one with the 3 icons) anymore you are out of luck and only Asus can repair your device. APX it's useful only if you have the NvFlash backup.
Inserting a microSD with an original Asus firmware is also useless if you can't access the bootloader menu because you can't boot in recovery mode.

Make sure you do EXACTLY what sdbags said - he IS the expert.
With the tablet powered OFF, press and hold BOTH the power button and volume down button together, for at least 10 seconds. It should bring you back to the screen with the 3 icons. RCK, android robot icon, wipe. RCK gets you to recovery mode where you can use TWRP for recovery/flash installs, etc. Middle android is the cold boot option which sometimes fixes problems like you're having. Don't do wipe unless someone like sdbags explicitly tells you.
Hope you can fix this.

Well guys...thank you all for your help & time...
I tried everything anyone here suggested but unfortunately ended up with the same result: ASUS white logo screen.
The tablet is still under the first year time period...any suggestions as for how to get it fixed (RMA) without paying tones of money?
What should I say happened???
Guess RCK does not work on my device...(?)
Thank you all...
Did you try the middle android icon to see if that helped? You switch to the middle one by pressing volume down, then select it by pressing volume up.
The device also have a reset button (a tiny hole near the micro hdmi port),use a paperclip to press it and hope for the best.
As for the RMA ,Asus could charge you for repairing because you unlocked the bootloader but some users here on XDA also reported that Asus repaired their device for free even if the bootloader was unlocked.

Nexus 5 stuck in boot loop and cant access boot loader

i flashed the latest nightly of AOKP today and then restored all my apps and data with titanium backup. When the restore was complete it prompted me to reboot my device so i did. ever since then i have been unable to reboot my phone as it is stuck on the start up screen. i then tried to restore from a backup of my other rom and then found out that i couldn't boot into the boot loader as when i held down the power and + volume button the startup would begin and then the phone would turn off. any ideas on how to fix this.
What it's happening is your stuck in a boot loop.
When you are holding power and volume down the phone is only interested in the power button part. Which is why it's powering off.
Just keep the buttons held both power and volume down. When it powers off keep them held and you should come into the bootloader

Not sure if the quote is a typo or not, but it should be power and - volume. You can also try power and both volume buttons, which will take you to the secondary boot loader.

Hi guys.
Sorry for bumping but I have the same issue and for me it wasn't fixed by going in recovery mode. I already tried deleting cash, and even tried getting back to factory settings. But still, when i restart the phone, the same loop keeps occuring.
At first it always just went to 'google' and then rebooted and rebooted. Now it just keeps stuck with the google logo (the 4 colour image).
Could someone help me possibly?
Thanks in advance

Hi Kevin,
Try LG flashtool. Link in my signature. If you have the 32GB version of the american nexus 5 (D820) you can use the converted firmware without any problem. It was tested numerous time.
You can also try to reflash stock google rom in fastboot mode http://forum.xda-developers.com/google-nexus-5/general/tutorial-how-to-flash-factory-image-t2513701
If you are using LG flashtool and you get error about cant format userdata and/or cache or by checking the flashing log you see timeout errors then your phone have a fauilty emmc. If you are using the fastboot method and you see "remote: flash write failure" text in the CMD window then you have fauilty emmc. Your only option is to rma your phone if bought from google or claim your warranty from LG if your phone is not from Google and you have the receipt of your phone.

Phone stuck at Verizon loading screen, can't fastboot

Hi guys,
So my buddy rooted my phone for me and had me on lollipop. Somehow I connected my phone to my friends samsung fast charger and my phone updated normally, and now my phone is stuck at the verizon loading screen on my phone. I can't open the fast boot with the hard commands, (Volume down and holding power button). The only thing I can do is do the soft reboot with the volume up and power button. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I would be fine with doing a clean reset or even going back to stock I really just need my phone to be working.

When you do volume up and power you need to time it right to switch to holding vol down in order to enter boot loader. If you wait for the battery to die you can also boot into boot loader by holding vol down when you connect it to the charger and it gets enough of a charge to boot.

Yeah it does take a little practice. I've had a lot of practice at it now I seem to have that problem most often when trying to change boot animations, it will get stuck at the Verizon boot image and after about 5 minutes of waiting I end up doing this.
