Hey XDA modders,
Last year I upgraded with the leaked Gingerbread incl. baseband:
Android 2.3.5
L6260_MODEM_SIC_01.1042.00 baseband
GRJ90 build
2.6.35.7+ kernel
LG920-V21a-NOV-16-2011
Unfortunately it's been nothing but problems since then: missed SMS, ghost calls, etc. Unfortunately I'm now off the official LG path, so I can't get back. One of the difficulties in XDA is it's hard to keep up with what is going on. So I'm really not sure what to do as it seems people like me have 'missed the boat' so to speak to get this fixed, as it's hard to search and find any response about this.
My question is:
- What basebands have no known issues? eg. 21a, 21b, 20b?
- How do I downgrade/upgrade to the correct baseband? Flash KDZ?
Cheers
Leon
For what I know you have to downgrade to a 10x firmware ( with kdz or bin file ) only froyo rom seems to work properly
All Gingerbread Roms + CM Roms that used GB baseband suffer from this problem. The problem is in the new bb came with GB. So, the only solution for now is to go back to any froyo Rom.
However, the latest froyo Rom suffer from a problem, when you set wifi sleep policy to never, the phone will randomly reboot number of times a day. So, flash the one before the latest.
LG lost us all, no one is satisfaied!
you can follow this guide to upgrade/downgrade the stock rom, i used it to fix my bricked phone, it works on the downgrade too i downgraded from v21b to v21a
hello, just wanted to say on the prometheus project roms v1.3,1.4 and kernals v1.3,1.4, and 1.5 i get no signal. i can only get signal on roms version up to 1.2 and kernal 1.2, even after installing a new baseband still no signal, anyone out there with a solution to the problem?
Have you checked your baseband version with getril from playstore?
please hit thanks if i helped
yes its v20F
Have you flashed promethius 20f kernel to? sometimes it can take awile before it works.
please hit thanks if i helped
yuo, nothing is working, no signal at all, usually when i have no signal it will say emergency call only but when i flash kernel and rom, says no signal.

Download the v21e baseband from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1635011
Then download the Attached v18a baseband from here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1338383
Read this for how to use LG flash tool
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=17177547&postcount=2
Then copy the name of the v18a baseband file to the v21e baseband file u downloaded and flash it with LG flash tool (otherwise you get an error saying invalid cp path. the flashing proccess will say failed at 72s, when that happens, just exit it and turn your phone on. It should work now). Use a windows XP 32 bit pc.
i had the same problem when i flashed a baseband 2.3 and then a rom and no signal
i did flash again a kdz file 2.2 and woked fine
then a acura rom for 2.2 baseband and it is now super
Hey guys,
When I flash v21E I get no signal, any ideas?
Thanks
Same with me I think it has to do with kernel if I get some time I'm going to try a bunch of different kernels with 21e and see what happens
You have to flash 21e baseband or 21e kdz file with baseband included. Tutorials are on general section.

ya thats what i did i flashed 21e kdz and no network at all
+1
Yeah me too, I'm not a noob I have written my own roms before. I am just nooby on this phone lol. I don't understand how with the correct baseband etc it still doesn't give me signal. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
It's really weird: I own a Brazilian P920H which should be incompatible with V21E, but it's not. It worked with the official ROM and now I'm using Prometheus 1.4 and Prometheus kernel 1.4.5.1 for a couple of weeks. Wonderful battery life and no ghost calls.

did it again
So I did it again ... after I installed the baseband I went into recovery and did all the wipes ... I got signal! let me know if it works for you.

I struggled to flash the KDZ file. When I got it to flash, I had a complete phone update to original GB. This wasn't so bad but I still wasn't on V21e. My PC is having all sorts of problems flashing the KDZ file (I've spent a few days trying to get it working) so I've moved on to the fls file instead.
I used SmartFlash Tool to flash the bin and fls file and although I am now on baseband V21e, I now have no signal. I have used GetRIL to match the RIL to the baseband but not joy. I have reflashed the bin and fls files a few times.
May be worth noting that my RIL says its V21e and my Baseband is XMM6260. GetRIL recommends V21d but it doesn't solve the problem.
I am now using the Prometheus ROM and Kernel but still no joy. I have tried different kernels, like the Titan kernel that has solved the problem for other people. Please help - currently my device is a 4" tablet
*Edit* - having more of a read, its possible that I'm using the wrong bin and fls files and maybe the XMM6260 chipset is not used in this phone. I'm going to try to find a different version of the fls and bin files - if anyone can point me in the right direction for the v21e files for the P920, that would be greatly appreciated
*Second edit* - I think the phone DOES use this chipset. Help please
*Third edit* - FIXED. I flashed the Titan kernel again (I flashed them all again) and reset the RIL to v21e in GetRIL and I now have signal, hopefully ghost call free. I should note that GetRIL says my RIL and baseband DON'T match
*Fourth and hopefully final edit* It wasn't as fixed as I thought. Some kernels gave me wifi but no phone signal, others gave me signal but no wifi. I'm now running blue kernel on Prometheus 1.4 and both seem to be working.
I really liked CM but it forced my baseband back and I was getting network issues, plus the lack of 3D caused me to change up. It did indicate that basebands could be updated through ROMs, which would make things much easier

This is happening because smartflash doesnt flash baseband properly...
You just got your signal back because of the kernel you flashed over... which isn't a v21e dependant.
I had the same issue...
Solution? I kept my v20a baseband and I'm using XPlay3d (which is based on v21d).
For me smartflash won't update my baseband no matter what I do... although it flashes the firmware and stuff (and even recovered my phone from a LG logo stuck brick)
That makes sense. I did upgrade the stock LG firmware first and ghost calls seem to be cured. The worst was being on froyo and using a GB ROM like CM7 - calls and data signal were horrendously inconsistent

I wouldn't recommend the blue kernel, it gets slow and the cpu gets very slow in responding after having the phone on for a few hours.
Try one of the older Prometheus Kernels, i had the described network problems too, i couldn't even enter the pin for my sim card.
I tryed a few kernels, and i found out that Prometheus V1.4.5.1 Kernel is working best for me, eventhough it crashes and reboots when you activate bluetooth, but wifi AND signal is working, which is the most important for me

I tried Prometheus 1.4 ROM but didn't work. I probably need one with a matching baseband. I have noticed my phone slows down after a few hours and eats more RAM - thanks for the heads up

Try the newest rom, it flashes the super stock kernel with it, at least should get a signal then, otherwise try a different baseband version (there are 2 different versions) Maybe you flashed a wrong one in the first place. Also the prometheus rom doesn't flash its own kernel, i would advice you to flash the real prometheus kernel, as soon as you booted with the normal prometheus rom, then reboot into recovery and flash the kernel. for some reason there are problems for me when i install a rom and flash a kernel right afterwards, without booting and setting up the new rom.
Also did you wipe everything before installing the rom?

That's what I did - I flashed Prometheus 1.5. Yes I wiped everything. I have an issue with my PC and LG Flash Tool so I'm trying to avoid using it again.
Just to clarify, you are saying I should flash Prometheus 1.5 ROM, then the 1.5 Kernel? There are two (one with a +) for different basebands I think. It wouldn't be a problem as I have everything on my SD card and ready to go. However, I'm not sure which baseband I'm on now - my phone says v21e but you are right that it doesn't seem to be

my phone showed the same, and the + kernel didn't work for me, i didn't get asked to enter my pin or anything, it was showing just no network
I have flashed new rom on my Optimus 3D with the OS Hacking Tool but I am stuck on this baseband and can't return to v21e. I tried flashing with cm7 in zip using cwm but it doesn't work too. Please I think something is now turned on read only. I need your help soon
Hello everyone
I used to have Gingerbread 2.2.2 on my p920, then I upgraded it with LG Mobile Support Tool to Gingerbread 2.3.5. But, I had a problem with my WiFi, it kept disconnecting and connecting. I thought it would be a good idea to look for something else to flash my p920 with. I have flashed it with cyanogenmod 10; but it went worse, my p920 kept rebooting and I had no signal, after that I realized that there is no imei; I type *#06# and it's empty. I have tried cyanogenmod 7 and my device has imei again and works with a lot of bugs.
I need you help me fix phone please.
My questions are:
1. How can I backup my efs for p920, or what ever it is called on p920?
2. How can I remove cyanogenmod and go back to Gingerbread 2.3.5 v20e or even 2.2.2?
My p920 is working, it is not dead.
Pleaaaase help me, I am really in trouble.
Thank you all.
