Hi There ,
I have asked in Geekbuying thread on QX1 but haven't got an answer
Can someone please help connect QX1 to Windows 7 laptop usb drivers are installed but QX1 doesn’t show up as a external drive so that i can do firmware upgrades & wifi settings & use Droid Remote .
I have tried connecting QX1 with HDMI port & micro usb-usb port cable .
Also tried microsd card & USB drive
MTIA
Do a Google search for "Geekbuying blog QX1"...
Info can be found within the Geekbuying site however I'm mobile & can't remember the link. The Google search should help.

After searching and not finding what I was looking for, I always go to XDA. What android phones from Verizon have usb hosting capabilities. Specifically I want to connect and external hard drive to transfer files. I know you're probably wondering why I just don't use a computer, well my 4 year old son made my computer unusable. Thanks in advance for any help.

Just look at the market
Search: "usb host"
First result is okay
The problem is:
- Your hardware need to support it
- You need to be root.
But you can try!

I've tried the usb host controllers app, but that was a no go. I have an incredible 2 that is rooted. I should have included this in my first post, but I failed to.

Also the kernel needs to support it and no stock kernel does that I know of.
Supposedly, Android 3.1 and newer support USB host mode. In some cases you'll need special adapters and/or a powered USB hub. Unfortunately, I'm too new of a user to post outside links (the forum won't let me), but there's much documentation on the Android developer site regarding host mode v. accessory mode, and at least one article/forum thread showing an Android 3.1 tablet with an Android 2.2 phone plugged into it, the tablet reading the phone's logs over the USB connection.
In other words, it's possible, but hardware limitations may make it difficult, as will whatever version of Android you're using.

I am running a ICS and it is not enabled by default. It maybe on Tablets but not mobile phones. A search will lead you to threads about it asking for it to be add to the kernel but you remove options when you do and there has not been alot of want for it.
Native support
At least Samsung Galaxy SII and Note does usb Host with the default ROM. You can see with cable you need (witch could be an issue too) on many blogs.
hi, can anyone recommend an Ethernet adapter With the usb 3.0 standard for Surface Pro?
a) The title of your thread ends up being entirely ambiguous as to what you are after, it is normal to use a title related to what you are after like "Ethernet adaptor for surface pro".
b) I went onto google, I couldnt find a single result for USB3 ethernet adaptor /sarcasm. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Digitus-Gigabit-Ethernet-USB-Adapter/dp/B008Y6SPN6 seems to have good reviews, only downer is that the drivers come on CD by default but they have a windows 8 driver installer in the downloads here: http://www.digitus.info/en/products...ards/gigabit-ethernet-usb-30-adapter-dn-3023/
Hi,
Android Dev Noob and just looking at the SDK I have this question which probably someone will be able to tell be straight away.
I want to relay USB Host port data to a USB accessory port.
I am looking at the USB Host APIs >= Andriod 3.1
What I want to do is be able to relay the keyboard, mouse and touchscreen that I have connected on the host port and relay that to the OTG.
So here is my noob questions before I waste loads of time.
1... Is it possible to create device manifests on the fly.
I was thinking I could just make devices connected on the host appear as if they are on the accessory port.
If not then I guess I could create some default manifests and pick the most relevant.
2... This is hardware related but many tablets and android boxes have separate usb host & otg ports?
It is possible to have a host and accessory going at the same time.
This might makes things a little easier as the rationale is that I have a windows 8 machine and an RK3288 android box and I want to share the keyboard, mouse and touchscreen.
Video is easy as I can just swap the input between pc & hdmi.
I was thinking if I plugged all my devices into android I could just have a hot Key to redirect to windows 8 or don't capture and use devices on android.
I thought it might be a much simpler way without network needs and have read there are gesture problems with KVM products such as Synergy.
What do you think is it possible, does anyone know if this has already been done and there is an app?
Also if you have any better ideas or some pointers where to start all will be welcome.
Many Thanks
Stuart
Hey guys. This is an important question for the Retro Gaming Community. Most of you guys aren't familiar with me but let me let you guys know how I do my threads. First I start a topic trying to figure out a problem. We have discussion and after the solution is reached I edit the title to "Solved" and I edit this first post with the solution for the sake of simplicity for when other people are researching the problem also (Whether on XDA or on their favorite search engine, ex. Google). So with that out of the way let me tell you what I'm trying to accomplish, why I feel this is Important to the Retro Gaming Community, and what ive tried to do to find my answer. This is what I'm trying to do...
Im a Retro Gamer (Someone who likes to play old video games, some argue how old but I believe for it to be Retro it has to be almost 15 years or older. ex. Sony Playstation, Nintendo 64, Sega Dreamcast or older).
I recently bought myself a Generic USB Super Nintendo Entertainment System (SNES ) Controller which advertised as Windows and MAC compatible for my PC. Now I also have a USB OTG (On-The-Go) adapter to plug in my USB Type-A (Regular USB) plug to my tablets USB Type-B Micro (Phone and Tablet USB, the small one). Of course you know what I tried to do next . Yes I did I downloaded my favorite SNES Emulator, plugged in my USB SNES Controller via the USB OTG Adapter and tested that bad boy out just to see what happens. And guess what happened next?
Absolutely nothing.....
I didn't receive a notification from my android tablet that I plugged in a peripheral like I did when I plugged in my USB flash drive via USB OTG and my emulator did not detect it so next I went scouring the internet to find an answer. One answer that kept coming up was to install an app called "USB/BT Joy Center" which didn't work for me and isn't even available in the Google Play Store for the USA, and the other thing that's scary about that app is that android gave my a warning saying it asks to detect keyboard input and it also needs access to the internet for some reason. , it also said that app can detect my inputs like passwords and credit card numbers so I uninstalled it.
There has to be a way to make this work. I know almost all Generic controllers work for Linux and Android is a derivative of Linux, also Ive read on many threads that other peoples phones and tablets work with Generic USB Controllers via the OTG adapter. I feel if we find a straight solution to this not only this would be the only forum to have a straight solution to this but for the Retro Gaming community and gaming in general this would be a huge step forward in emulation and gaming in portability.
So this is what Im working with.
I have an Azpen A1023 tablet with Android Jelly Bean, a Generic USB SNES controller with an USB OTG adapter, and Im using the Android SNES emulator "Snes9x EX+ 1.5.28" which allows you to configure a controller and has auto-detect with isnt working with my tablet.
And help, comments or feedback is welcome. Like I said when I solution is found I will edit the title of the thread and the first post for the sake of simplicity. If anyone feels I should edit the title of this thread to something else please feel free to offer any suggestions. Again I look forward to working with you guys to find an answer.
Im sure with over 400 views someone has something to say. Don't keep all that knowledge to yourself, any input would help ☺
Hello everyone!
I have a little question for you geeks.
I have an old Android TV box, and I would like to Dump the Rom to be able to modify it to my liking.
The device only has two USB ports, an Ethernet port, and an HDMI port.
The device appears to be already rooted.
My question is: since the device does not have a micro usb port for connection to the computer, how is it possible to perform a dump?
I think my question may be useful for other people with the same idea as me.
Thanks in advance for your answers!
