Looking for app recommendations for monitoring my family's data usage. My family is on the Verizon Share Everything plan and I would like to see how much total data the family is using rather than having to go to log in to My Verizon.
I've looked into Onavo Count and My Data Manager, but both of those seem to only monitor the data for the phone that the app is installed on. The My Verizon widget/app pulls the total data usage from the My Verizon account, but the widget/app is pretty lackluster.
Anyone have any thoughts? Thanks.

I just use the my Verizon mobile app and I haven't had any problems. The widget is a joke. I don't know of any other app that can give you the shared usage. Like you said most just list the single phone

You can try Family Data Usage app on Play Store. In this app you can see details of data used by you and your family members. This app helps you to monitor data used by multiple devices. It also has beautiful interface, widgets and notification. Here you can set data limit, data used by other apps and many more features. It is worth trying app.

when i saw the SKyrocket in the AT&T store i swear i saw an app or widget that stated your data usage in a bar graph of some type.
all i see right now on my phone is the My AT&T app which lets me login to my account and see the DATA tab but thats it.
am i incorrect in thinking i saw a widget of some sort that showed your data usage and a pre defined cap you could put for warnings?

3G watchdog. I have been using it and it's fairly accurate to atts site when I check.
I use an app called Traffic Monitor that I would recommend, it's free on the market. Has a nice widget that differentiates wifi usage vs data usage, and the app will breakdown what apps use bandwidth and how much.

I use my data manager, works well for me and it has a nice widget and stays in the notification pull down.

I know what you are talking about I think it. I have it on my tab 8.9. I can find out the exact name and apk when I get home. It is linked to your att account and has day's left on billing cycle and data used.

well maybe someone downloaded one of those apps onto the skyrocket phone i saw on display since no one has mentioend an official AT&T widget.
thanks guys and i tried traffic monitor and it was great and detailed BUT i really like the Data manager interface more. its simple and you can actually input your billing date and how much data you have used up until now which is great.
love the widget as well.
So I have noticed since buying my HOX, "Android OS" consistently uses several hundred (anywhere from 100-500MB) megabytes of data every month. This is really annoying considering I only have 3GB a month. It uses more data than facebook or the browser! I am rooted on 1.73, and removed some ATT bloat through titanium backup, no other modifications. But if I remember correctly, it was doing this even before these modifications. Any idea what could be the culprit?

If you've setup Android to transfer all data to the cloud, you may just be transferring a massive amount of contacts or Wi-Fi passwords. If all of your contacts have pictures on them, this could be part of the problem.
However, 500 MB is a bit excessive. Time to do some troubleshooting!
I do have my contacts set to sync, along with gmail, calendar, the weather(every 3 hours), etc. My pictures come from facebook, so shouldnt that data come up under the facebook app? And since my billing cycle started on the 27th, I have used a total of 298MB, and 153MB of that is Android OS. And I have set the Play store to update over wifi only
I was having this issue as well. I went to Setting > Privacy > Backup Settings, and checked it off. I think it was backing up everything on my phone including podcasts in downloaded in the pocket cast app.
Since then the Android OS data usage has not increased.
I have auto sync turned off. I also think the respective programs that sync show up separately.

Did some more searching today, someone else also mentioned that turning off "back up my settings" severely decreased data usage by android os. Thanks for the tip gert260. I'll report back to see if that fixes it. Currently at 153MB

That could be some APP showing as Android OS instead of the actual APP.... that happened to me with JANGO (Radio APP) I noticed that my Android OS was using a lot of DATA but Jango was using a few KB... I did a test and I confirmed that it was this app... WEIRD! because on my tablet it shows the correct amount of data. If you use a streaming APP you can do a quick test
The last option says it all. It says app data and settings I would assume that it should go down if some apps aren't being used and being updated. My thought is that the os is updating these settings and data even though their not being used. I personally haven't had the phone more than a month so I cannot confirm this. I will update when I can.

Hello, I use Google Current as my digital magazine and newspaper but I don't know why and when this handy app starts to drain my data (WiFi). In the past, I knew that this app use lots of data compared to other apps but recently its really starts to "conquer" my data plan. In fact, yesterday, when I check the data usage of my apps in 3G watch, I saw that Google Current uses about 1.05GB (84% of total data consumption of the phone) of data per day with extremely light use (I never opened it except one but I killed the app just right after). And when I check the data consumption of the phone of last 30days, it was even stunning: 91% of total usage is occupied by only Google Chrome it selves. Can anyone tell me why this app is so hungry? The only reason I could explain this is because I had lots of news feed subscription, when I opened the app, it may download EVERYTHING including picture and stuff even that I didn't pin them. Am I correct? Is this a bug? Do I really turn of the auto sync? Thanks.

Hi all.
So my mobile provider offers mobile data and what they call "socializer" data too. My current plan is 1.25gb of mobile and 1gb of socializer data. I know that you can set data caps on data so you don't exceed you monthly usage but I had an idea of an app that you can set data limits in and once that limit is reach only selected apps will use mobile data.
I know that IFTT is a very powerful app but didn't see anyway of cooking up such a recipe. Is there a way to do this with IFTT or is there any other app available that already does this? If so I haven't managed to find it. If I knew anything about app development I would be creating an app to do this myself but I know nothing of android development or app development.
Any one keen to have a go at creating an app like this or maybe tell me how I might go about developing this idea into a functional app??

On lasted stock non rooted OS and I have DirecTV Now app installed and recently I've noticed that every time I use the app my Android OS data usage is high so if I stream 500 megabytes of data on the DirecTV Now app then my Android OS data usage will be about the same. Issue is I have a limited data plan and it's eating through my data and I have one of those plans from T-Mobile with the binge on feature that doesn't supposed to count against your data if you're streaming from a certain app like YouTube Netflix Spotify and also DirecTV Now but it's using my data but only with the DirecTV Now app not with YouTube Netflix or Spotify just to name a few if anybody know why your help would be appreciated.

I would just disable the app in the settings when you're not using it, or block it from using mobile data, it's an annoying but simple fix.

I'm paying for the service and I want to use it but I guess after the last 2 updates the data is not zero rated anymore or at least on my LG G5 but is not using data on my old LG G3.Im using that for the time being until I figure what's going on.

Or we can just hibernate that app using any hibernation manager app.
