I9500 is getting no love! - Galaxy S 4 General

I seriously bought the wrong phone.Should have gotten the i9505 instead of the i9500 as this phone is getting no love from Samsung and also no love from xda either.
What do all other I9500 users think? Should we all move over to the i9505 or i9506?
sent from Sky Kingdom.

9500 got quality over quantity. 9505 are jealous of our perseus kernel.
And now that we have CM, development will speed-up

I think he's right.
Perseus on S3 was the best kernel I've ever used on a mobile device, period.
Too bad i9505 doesn't have it.

I know this isn't a discussion on the persius kernel, but can someone elaborate on what made the kernel so great please

read Perseus thread and compare to another...

Perseus kernel is literally the best thing that has happened to the S4 I9500.

What is the so good about Perseus kernel?

A buggy rendition of CM doesn't suddenly put the I9500 on a level playing field in terms of development. The I9505 will always be ahead in this department, simply because Snapdragon is open source and easy to develop for. The developers of CM on the I9500 deserve great credit and what they have done is superb for the community as a whole, but they're flying blind a lot of the time. You only need look at CM for the SIII (and to a lesser extent, the SII) to know there is a massive difference between the initial release and the excitement that surrounds it and once things settle down it being stable enough to use full time without bugs spoiling the experience.

Exynos 5410 is more powerful than the Snapdragon S600 then with the same ROM AOSP the 9500 is smoother.

It's really not that simple. And even if it was the difference in terms of real world use would be effectively zero, as the difference between the two phones running stock shows.

If the two phones use a stock ROM then the 9500 is faster.

Stop the butthurt.
We have what we bought.
It's ALWAYS the device owner's fault for not researching before buying.
So be happy with what you have and enjoy it.

These kinda threads does no good to the community, instead it is creating a rift between the 9500 and 9505 owners.....think over it.

Where is all the developement?

I have had this phone since day one.. and I love it more than life lol xD but the matter at hand... I have watched development for this phone decay.. all roms are either getting abandoned, or support is just dying out.. this isn't applying directly to just AOSP, or AOKP, either.. but touchwiz as well.. should I switch to a different device? Ima nonstop hacker, and used to build roms myself.. but since I started tattooing again, I have no free time.. any good development phones out there?

you can only do so much with the same version of touchwiz jellybean. this device will most likely not see another carrier update. aosp will be the only way future updates are brought to the device. carriers specifically do this so you keep upgrading devices. that being said, why dont you have a note 2 already?

They did announce that feature pack update, plus on release the device was given its 2GB of ram just for future support of new android versions.
My guess is it will get 4.2.1 official, but that will be the end of OTA. I have a feeling though CM and AOSP roms will be around for a while. Too many people have the US models of the GS3's, and due to the fact MOST of the code is similar between devices, it should not be hard to keep them all going as long as theres someone who cares to work on them.

The development hasn't stop just slowed down. There are 4 new ports and some of the older roms have moved on to 4.2(mainly CM,liquid smooth and slim bean). The other roms are still being updated. There is also a new ROM based on 4.2 called Pure Google. Team Baked is working on a 4.2 based ROM.

Split the octa and quad subforums.

Hi guys! I'm back to my lovely second home, xdadev.
Just a quick suggestion this time, - IMO it would be a good idea to split the i9500 and i9505 subforums, just because later on it will get all very cluttered, since the two models will have different rom's and kernel's, In that respect they don't really belong in the same place on xda.
what do you think?

Sense 5 Port [General Discussion]

(PORT) HTC One M7 Rom v1 Alpha
The General Discussion should go here!
not in development section
What is the progress so far?
Well Audio doesn't work, GSM/DATA work in geiti94 test build (unreleased)
rest of the information can be found here: HERE!
People Involved
Geiti94 (OP - And Thread Maintainer, Developing of the rom)
Oweida (Developing the rom, and helps out)
Cnexus (Pointing out files etc, whats needed etc etc)
Jamal (Developing the rom)
dariolob (Will help in developing the rom???)
Aerys (will help in developing the rom???)
Laststandingdroid (well for starting the project, but soon saw he was beaten by sac and Cnexus)
So post what you feel of this project here, and feedback etc here. Thanks!
1s! Really glad you took the time to do the op justice and I hope people use this and leave the devs alone on their work space thread! I wanna say I'm really glad to see sense come to are phone. I always wanted a HTC phone for sense but I have always stayed faithful to Samsung after my iPhone 3gs which I had idroid on it or maybe that was my 3g idk. After seeing how far we are I'm glad to see this totally seems possible to do and development hasn't died after the ROM boots. I'm grateful for all the talented devs we have here!

I know you devs are working hard to complete the difficult part of porting the rom...
My question is, once it is ported, would it be easy to mod the rom or tweak it to make it smoother, or would it be too fragile? Could you just flash a mod which was made for a HTC One rom? or would each mod have to be changed to be compatible with the port?
Keep up the good work

It's actually depends if it's Rom dependent. But I would say yes. Unless it's not replacing any necessary libs
I would say yes since I saw a Samsung tablet port to note ii and they said don't use mods for note ii. Use tablet mods. So it should work. I honestly never use that much mods. So can't say exactly but it's most likely no.

I personally couldn't careless for CM or leaked ROMs, I'm enjoying my I9500 as is due to Samsung throwing the best hardware into it Exmor RS sensor, Wolfson DAC, big.LITTLE ARM chip etc...It's what truly separates the GS4 from the competition outside of TW.
Looking forward to this FW wish it was the Official Samsung Android4.3 though.
guys please stay on topic (NEW FIRMWARE COMING UP FOR S4 I9500)
and we can just open another thread for 9500 VS. 9505 discussion/fighting
Cheers
Back the purpose of this thread. I've had the rom running for close to a day now.
These are my findings compared to MG9....
1 Battery Drain seems worse. I've had my phone off charge for 2hrs this morning, lost only 4% battery, but screen only on for 4mins. Android OS eating 43%... But ROM may still be "settling in" (I'm not even sure if this happens in reality, but I've read something along those lines before).
2. Camera appears to open faster
3. Overall the general responsiveness of the ROM feels to be improved.
4. The Guatemala firmware is Claro branded, and comes with 14 crapware apps.
5. The auto-brightness curve appears to have changed. It is much improved on my phone, think the sensor is functioning better
Can't comment on too much more at this stage. I'd be interested to see if someone can verify my findings...
Thanks Nick! Very informative, think I'll wait for the Bangladesh version of the firmware.
