Probably counterfeit S-View review - Galaxy S 4 Accessories

This is the review I left for an S-View case my wife bought for me from Amazon.
http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00DVF8MC4/ref=pe_385040_30332190_pe_175190_21431760_3p_M3T1_ST1_dp_1
"It's alright, but most likely counterfeit."
I'll start by saying, if this orange S-View case is actually made by Samsung, it is the worst quality item I have seen from an OEM.
Now I'll tell you why I think it's counterfeit.
First of all, my wife bought this for me from LiViTech, but the same listing seller is now called "Fasty".
"Samsung Galaxy S4 S-View Flip Cover Folio Case (Orange)
Sold by LiViTech
Condition: New"
now says
"Ships from and sold by FASTY."
If you compare the images on this ad, they look just the ones from Samsung's site, but what you get doesn't look like the pictures.
Earlier this evening I went down to the local cellular store and compared this case with a real Samsung S-View case.
The materials this is made out of is obviously different.
The color is much lighter than the OEM.
The texture of the cover is different.
The OEM cover is a more uniform shape and size.
The logo on the front of the OEM model is raised, it may be silk screen printed or something; this one is laser printed, you can very clearly see the horizontal lines burned in and it has no raised areas. The logos are also different colors, this one is grey, the OEM is white.
On the back, the battery cover is not the right size, it's very hard to get on. Mine is just barely too small.
The SAMSUNG logo on the back of this one is slightly raised, could be some kind of paint, it looks like; the OEM model looks applied in a similar fashion to the front logo.
The texture of the battery cover is slightly different, and it's color is also lighter than the OEM.
The ridge over the speaker grill is hardly raised at all, where the OEM ridge is just as pronounced as the ridge on the cover that comes on the phone.
The type of plastic on this one is different, you can see the outline of the battery, SIM card and SD Card through it while it is on the phone.
The way the front and back covers attach together is very similar, but the OEM one has obvious quality control.
The soft spot, to serve what purpose I am not sure, under the battery cover on the OEM is filled with a material like that of the front; this one has a paper sticker in it.
The hinge where the front attaches to the rear looks the same, but this one is poorly assembled so part of it was glued as crooked as the seller. This helps the battery cover not snap on properly. It's also almost as hard to get off as it was to get on.
Additionally, the box the case comes in is missing most of the certification logos found on the back of the OEM box. This one only has the recycle logo.
You can certainly tell they tried very hard to get it close, but it's still far from exact.
It was $19.99 when I bought it, now $15.99. I'd say it's worth maybe $9.99.
If you like this design, and can't bring yourself to spend the $60 for an authentic S-View from a reputable source, it's not bad, but it's not real good either.

$20 is too much. Got this from ebay http://www.ebay.com/itm/New-FLIP-PU...Cell_Phone_PDA_Cases&var=&hash=item338394886d
You can see pics and review here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2370606
also uploaded a few reviews of s view cases from ebay on youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OsscRoi-juY
Was going to purchase from amazon at first but reviews were so hit and miss. Figured it would be easier to buy a few cases under 10 bucks and take a risk.

Seidio Innocase VS Ebay Cheapo Cases

I REMOVED LINKS TO PHOTOBUCKETS BECAUSE IT WOULD NOT LET ME POST, MODS PLEASE VERIFY ME SO I CAN FIX THIS.
sinse I could not post pics from photobuckets your gonna have to go loot at the attached pics (some are missing) someone please help me get verify
I will be comparing the seidio innocase to 2 cheap cases i got from ebay.
There are enough seidio innocase reviews out there so I am not going to waste my time with that. What I want people to get out of this is that some cases they sell on ebay are actually good in build quality and even can go head to head with some of the more expensive cases out there.
Here is the picture of all three cases
To eliminate confusion I will name the two other cases. The case with a bar the runs across the phone over the samsung logo will be call "Bar" case and the one with the triangle cutout for the camera will be call (you guess it) "triangle" case.
My first impression of all 3 cases is that they cover the phone very well from all angles
Left side
Bar

Triangle
Pic
Seidio

Top Side
Bar
Triangle
Seidio
As you can tell the lever of detail is better on the seidio innocase but considering price ($20-$30 for seidio vs $5-$7 for the ebay ones) and the fact that all of them protect the phone well I wouldn't mind sacrificing the detail for the price.
Probably the most important question is whether the case affects the sliding mechanism or not. I can say that the Seidio and the Triangle cases do not in any way affect the sliding mech of the phone, however I can not say the same for the bar case.
Lets talk about each case individually
First the Bar case
Overall feels very solid on the hand yet very soft and smooth (rubberize), I would even say that if feels stronger than saidio but I think that is due to the fact that its a little thicker than the saidio case, whether that is a good thing its up to you to decide. I like the cutouts at the top of the phone, somehow it makes the phone look better, I can not say the same for the bar at the bottom, as you can see it gets in the way of your thumb when truing to press the captive buttons. On the back of the phone it has the cutout for the speaker the camera and the flash, the important feature about the back is that it protects the camera by leaving a gap between the lens and the top of the back cover so that when you set down your phone on any surface it wont actually make contact with the lens. The seidio case does a better job at this as you can see in the following pictures. Sorry for the blurry pic but I had to use some dumb phone I had laying around.
In every other feutere I would say the saidio and the bar cases are the same.
The Triangle Case
First I would like to point out that I bought the glossy case and later found out that they also had the rubberize version of it, I would chose the rubberize version and so should you because the glossy one feels like it would slip off your hand easily.
Overall the case feel strong, I would say it feel just as strong as the seidio but not as strong as the bar case. The case also seems to be thinner than the seidio (on the back piece) case but not by much. I like the fact that the top part of the case does not cover anything but the small bezel of the front of the phone just like the seidio
Triangle
Seidio
On the bottom piece you have a cut out for the speaker and one big triangle cutout for the flash and camera, Again it covers all sides very well just as the other do, the only downfall of this case is that it does not protect the camera as you can see on this picture
My recommendations would be if your on a budget or have multiple epics in you family and want a quality case at a good price buy the triangle case, if you have the money to spare and want a little more detail buy the seidio, but what ever you do stay away from the bar case unless you don't mind the intrusive bar and the faulty sliding.
I was on Amazon picking up a couple of other accessories for the Epic the other day and decided to snag a cheapo case just to try it as well. I actually ordered the one you referred to as the 'Bar' case. But in reality I was actually shipped the 'Triangle' case (and I'm glad that's what I ended up with as I didn't even notice the bar across the front when I ordered it.) I used the link below:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003I8H0B8/ref=oss_product
Considering I only paid $3 for it (including shipping) I'm surprised at how nice it is, at least initially. It has the soft touch rubber feel which I love and didn't add a lot of bulk which I was worried about coming from the TP2. Another benefit is that it helps make it a lot less likely I'll accidentally bump the volume/camera buttons (like I'd already done several times.)
My favorite aspect of it though is that it gives the phone a good bit more rigidity. While the Epic never felt cheap or flimsy, I was a little unaccustomed to having a phone feel that 'loose' after coming from the rock solid tank that was the TP2. Having the case on eliminates virtually all the slight wiggles/flex I was experiencing previously and also make the slider mechanism flow more smoothly and not 'pop' quite as harshly.
The only drawback I'm seeing thus far though is that it won't work with the Samsung desktop dock. I'd gotten spoiled to coming home and having a dock to rest my phone in. But given Samsung's odd decision to put the charging port on the top it looks like I may have to either just go back to a regular charging cable or wait it out for some 3rd party dock options anyway.

XDA's not allowing me to post a link but search ebay for item number 160493347179. I'm pretty sure it's that. Check that seller's store for multiple colors and also matte (look for "rubber" in the title) finishes. Just ordered a black rubber one myself.
I think I have the bar case. I got it as part of a 6 item package from Ebay for $7.99. It seems pretty good, except I would rather have a case that does not cover the front surface at all (like the Seidio cases). The cut-outs are right except that they missed the LED light on the front. No issues with the slider either. I think I'll be pretty happy with it until I find a nice case, maybe the Seidio Active X.
As for the other stuff I got from ebay, the USB computer cable seems fine, but the wall charger makes my touchscreen go crazy. I haven't tried the car charger, but I don't have high expectations for it. The screen protectors I'm not using since the Epic has Gorilla Glass - hope it's as scratch resistant as I think.

[REVIEW] S View knockoff/replica/clone ebay - UPDATED Spigen Flip Mate Case

I bought this case off of ebay and I was very surprised by the quality. This is essentially identical to the actual $60 Samsung S View case. I have only played with the official S View case for a short period of time at the store and have watched video reviews. I was frustrated because I wanted the case but could not justify spending such a large sum of money for it. So I combed ebay and bought 4 S View type cases all under 10 dollars. I have only received 2 cases so far but this one has exceeded any expectation I had.
The case came in a Samsung box that appears to be for the chinese market. Everything about the box looks official down to the "designed by samsung" to the barcode sticker with the inventory part number and date. The case itself is basically an official case. From the front cloth material to the inside felt/leather. The back snaps on perfect like the stock back cover. When I first applied the case it did not close all the way which is common among the reviews I saw but after laying it on it's face overnight, it nearly closes perfectly and I have only had it for a couple of days.
I bought this off of ebay for $8, and it came with a screen protector (I have no need for) and a stylus (I have no need for), but all in all, it is an incredible deal.
For those who want the official S View case but can't justify spending the money, this is perfect.
From all that I can tell, this is the real deal, but I can't see how it could be priced at this level, maybe the chinese market gets a cheaper price? More than likely though, this is just a high grade replica. From little I know of the replica market from watches to bags there are different grades with the low ends being poor knock offs to high ends which are essentially identical and most often made in the same factory where the originals are outsourced to for production.
I read reviews on Amazon for a replica S View cover that is apparently horrible, there is no screen even, just a hole cut out. I was not expecting what I got for the price I paid.
I made a short video review as well on youtube, but I can't post links. Just search for "s view unoffical case"
I am still waiting on two other S view cases that may or may not be identical to this (crossing fingers).
I also just purchased the Spigen flip mate case so the back and edges has some protection. You can get it on the Spigen ebay store for 12.99 rather than 17.99 on their website. I'll post pictures of that when it comes in this thread. Should be here in 3-5 days.

**Flip Mate case arrived, see further down in thread, posted pictures and also a youtube review

I can't post links yet, just created my account. I bought from seller named "frentaly". In his store do a search for "New FLIP PU Leather CASE Cover Smart Wake View For SAMSUNG GALAXY S4 S IV i9500"
Or go to youtube and search for "S View unofficial case - ebay/chinese "replica" incredible clone" you'll see my video that has a link in the description.
I originally went with this seller because he was in the US and had faster shipping, I also bought 2 similar cases that I have not received yet that were cheaper (one was 4.75) but I don't know how these are, could be identical or could be garbage. I will post when I get them. I also bought a S View case/cover that snaps on the phone, if you find my first video you can see my review for that as well.

I just bought one because 7$ is better than 40$ for the sview. hopefully it is actually decent.
And another for $2.75...

Last time I bought a fake flip cover, my signal was degraded and my GPS wouldn't lock on.
To get it cheap, go to Best Buy and price match the $15 Amazon price.

Some Bestbuys do it. Apparently it's up to the managers discretion. I got them to price match Amazon for a TV I bought about six months ago.

My GPS works fine and there has been no impact to the signal. I can't imagine how this cover could cause such an impact, the back is the same plastic as the stock back, there isn't even a case going over that may possibly impact the signal. Maybe the magnet was too strong? I can't detect the magnet in this case, tried getting anything to stick, even cut up a small paper clip and it just slides off. I saw a review of a leather flip case that was like a wallet and it had a huge magnet in it, well, not huge but strong enough to pick up a pile of paperclips.
The one on Amazon, from reading the reviews is the one that has no actual screen for the S View, it is just a hole in the cover and many people complain that the back cover doesn't fit properly. I was tempted to buy that one to test my luck but found cheaper on ebay.
Spigen flip mate case
I bought the Spigen flip mate case off of ebay for 12.99. It arrived quickly in 3 days and was looking forward to it as with the S View cover there is no real protection if the phone is dropped.
I am disappointed with this flip mate case. I wasn't expecting much as it is just a piece of plastic that covers the back, but the main thing is that it fits loosely. It is tight enough to snap on and looks good, but with relative ease, it can pop right off. If you actually hold the phone still you can slide the cover back and forth very slightly - that shows it doesn't fit very tight. Also one of the corners is exposed, you think the main thing this case would at least provide is corner cover. I cannot see a reason why they would purposely cut a hole in the corner of this case. Maybe it was a cost saving measure so they could put it into the packaging.
The packaging it came in is over the top. It is a two piece shell of really heavy plastic - just from looking at things, it is apparent that out of the 13 bucks I spent, probably 11 dollars or more went into the packaging itself. The container it came in is much sturdier and seems more of value than the flip mate case, just don't know what I could use it for. The phone itself did not come in such a sturdy and over the top packaging. Really overkill for this case.
I am going to upload a video review on youtube showing how easy it is for this case to come right off the phone.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJJz8j09jrw
Time to start looking for another case that works with the S View. This case was a waste of money.
Update - attached an additional photo. I have had this case for less than 4 hours and it already has a serious scratch in the back. I have been keeping it in my pocket and placed it with my keys for less than 10 minutes. I usually keep my keys by the doorway and I forgot when I got inside. When I remembered, I saw a large scratch on the back of the case. It isn't deep, but as you can see in the photo it is easily scratched. I have to be more careful with this case. So not only is it loose but it scratches at the lightest touch.
Got another S View type case.
This one is a case, not a cover that replaces the back.
http://www.ebay.com/itm/18116295298...eName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1439.l2649
The front cover is identical to the first one I reviewed except the samsung logo is missing. Same cloth material, same color. The inner cover is covered with a soft fabric/leather/felt type material.
Instead of a back cover for your phone, this one has a case. It is clear plastic, smoke colored. It covers all four corners and the phone fits in tight. One nice feature of the case is that the power button is cutout so there isn't a piece of case obstructing it. Small detail but makes hitting the power button easier than Spigen here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mJJz8j09jrw or other magnet S view case here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TY2d2ifC8Mg
All in all, it is a nice case, It is under 6 dollars and for those looking for an S View Case that want protection for your phone other than buying a Spigen Flip Mate this is a great deal.

Collecting a list of great Nokia 1020 cases here

I've been searching for the perfect case for 'the precious'. I'm not too much of a klutz but I'm paranoid, so many of my friends walk around with their cracked screens. Can't allow that to happen. I put together a collection on Amazon on some cases, I was thinking about one of the leather cases that would cover the screen maybe.
There was an image of a leather case from nokia that had a lens cover, but it's not for sale anywhere I can find:
wpcentral.com/first-glimpse-nokia-leather-case-lumia-1020
I'll get an actual link up eventually, just copy and paste that it works.
(Maybe if you search for "Some cool Nokia 1020 Cases" on amazon it would come up. )

I simply got the 2.99$ transparent case off ebay. No point in hiding my lovely yellow phone in a leather case..
In regards to the look&feel:
feels a lot safer to hold as it's not as slippery, case fits very well and color remains open without looking like a cheese-grater for toddlers like the new iphone ones
I've been looking around for some time but yet to find a case that I like. The available selection of accessories is really pathetic just because this isn't an Apple or Samsung phone.
In the meantime I just ordered a TPU case to tide me over until I get a permanent fix. I'm also not sure which screen protector to get. Tempered glass when it's available or just go for anti-glare? I hate fingerprint magnets.
If you are looking for a clear hard case have a look at this one "Poetic Atmosphere Case for NOKIA LUMIA 1020"
Just ordered one myself from the US, Amazon UK has it for £20 delived, but ebay US has it for just over £10 delivered.

Genuine Samsung tab s slim cover amazon uk

I paid 29.99 for this last year, absolute bargain for this price. Great quality.
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B00L222C2O/ref=cm_sw_r_other_awd_lZhDwb18H1ZQB
That's a simple cover, not the book cover.
For a bargain try this http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/381219491853 I've found it's a bulk high quality book cover, I bought it for less than 10 euros including shipping to Italy and after 5 months of daily usage I'm totally happy with it. It perfectly matches the shown pictures and practically it's the same as the original Sammy book cover but without logos.
The difference between the simple and the book cover is that the simple only protects the screen and doesn't work as a stand, while the book protects also the back and has 4 or 5 standing positions. The official positions are 3, at 10°, 30°, 50° but I've found that you can tilt one flap even more and get an angle from 65° to 70° that's definitely stable on plain surfaces.

I didn't say it was a book cover, I already have one of these and I paid twice the price and a bit more.
I didn't want the book cover, because for one I didn't want to cover that beautiful back and two I don't like them flappy book cover/stand things.

The words "book cover" are in the title, so I thought you were confusing the models.
Just bought the Samsung official cover from old stock on eBay. Paid $10 and free shipping. Had been using a leather Moko one but it covered too much of the tablet face and the buttons were hard to find. This one is super thin and has a magnetic closure where as the Moko had an elastic strap. I was worried it was fake for the price but figured if it was I hadn't lost much. Snaps fit very tight and the whole face is accessible when open. I love it.
All £2.99 @ Currys now and also as an Amazon add on but only the bronze

Cases from AliExpess

Hi,
So I mentioned in this thread that I bought a couple of cases on AliExpress.
Today I received the last one, and it was the best one From the four cases that I bought, 2 where the same and the worst (not bad, just the worst of them all).
I'd like to share it with you as it it great and VERY VERY cheap.
This is the link from where I bought it: https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Mat...ate-9-Mate9-Silicon-TPU-Case/32767644329.html
I also found a protective film in it... don't know if it is standard but I got one in my package (envelope).
Why is this one the best?
- Good thickness, not to thick, not to thin (you do want it to protect your phone).
- No cover over the side buttons so these aren't sticking out anymore which fixes the issue of taking pictures while inside my pants :cyclops:.
- Back isn't clear and a non slippery so the phone stays in your hand.
- The case ends 1 mm above the glass so you can even lay it face down without damaging your glass.
// UPDATE
I ordered the same case again but now in black, because the flash light resonates through the case giving a white spot on photo's. So no more transparent cases for me.
Again, same case, just now in black
Just for reference, these are the other 3 (2 types) I bought, I'm not 100% sure which one is the runnerup as I can't find ordering details on the packaging and they look the same
