[APP][Fitness] Route Runner - Android Apps and Games

Hello fellows!
I want to introduce my new running application to you! (download link at the bottom)
Route Runner is the perfect running application for everybody! It doesn't matter if you
are a beginner or an advanced runner. Route Runner makes running even more interesting for you!
Being somewhere and you don’t know where to run to get a route with a specific length? Going in another country without internet connection where you want to run a previously created route, but you won’t remember every checkpoint? Are you new into running and you want to start it easy and continuously increase your running experience? Are you an advanced runner looking for challenges?
Route Runner is the solution!
Create your route!
The main feature of Route Runner is to create your own route or let the application create one. Just drag & drop the start, finish and up to eight checkpoints on the map to create your custom route. Tell the application that you want to run about 5km and Route Runner calculates a random route for you. Adapt the random generated route later on, if you are not happy enough with it!
Start your run!
Start a run anytime and track yourself. If you have previously created a route, the app can tell you where to run (e.g. Turn right on..) ! While running Route Runner tells you your current statistics. Afterwards you can always share your workout.
The other possibility to go on a workout is to start an activity run. The application tells you when to start and stop an activity. For example beginners can use this function to run for 3 minutes and then walk for one minute. Advanced runners may sprint every 1 kilometer/mile for 10 seconds. It doesn’t matter if you are a good runner or not! Activity run may help everybody to get even more out of their running experience.
Share your workout or route!
If you want to share your workout or route you can simply do that with every application installed on your smartphone that supports sharing. Whilst a lot of other applications require Facebook, Twitter, .. permissions, Route Runner won’t ask you for anything like this! Your data remains your data!!
Motivate yourself!
Achievements are a good motivation technique! Try to run faster or even further! Increase your running experience by achieving simple tasks.
Features:
* Quick run
* Activity run
* Custom route
* Random route
* Save/Load routes
* Export/Import routes
* Offline saved routes
* List your workouts
* Achievements
* Your data remains your data
* Share workouts without app asking for Facebook, Twitter, .. permissions
* Easy to learn!
* For beginners and advanced runners
I would be happy if you could give it a try! It's worth it!
I can't post outside links, but if you go on Google Play and search for "Route Runner" you will find it

Great APP!! Random routes are a fantastic idea, never seen this in any popular running app.
And btw best email support ever
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app

would it be possible to integrate this with a website that lets you plan your routes in advance on your computer, and then transfer the route you made to your app? for example, i often use gmaps pedometer to plan routes, and ive always wanted to be able to transfer the route i made to my phone some how! Of course, it doesn't necessarily have to be gmaps pedometer, per say, but something like that would be great!
Otherwise, thanks for a great app!

GMaps lets you create the routes and export those routes.. Currently my application does not support to import from Google Maps, maybe I am going to implement this. Good point

A way to share real time GPS oordinates

Hello,
I am in search of a program that will allow me to share multiple gps 'points' with another phone user.
The scenario: My new fuze has built in GPS. (I have found programs that allow you to share your location with a friend) but I am looking at sharing with a friend but they have multiple points.
The request: I live and work on a farm, when we are working in the fields we may hit many rocks when plowing. If I could send this GPS location to my dad who also has a phone with gps (by sms is what the other programs are using) but I keep going and then hit another one-?Send it to him he gets it and then can go and pick it up. So he gets a real time location of multiple spots of where these rocks are in the field. I am sure I can do this static using points and then when I am done I can then save them and import and export to the other phone, but I was looking for a way to do this in real time.
Any Ideas on how this can be accomplished? Anything that I need to explain I shirly will. I look forward to any ideas!
Thanks,
Clayton

Interesting.. I didn't expect farmers to be playing with smartphones in the fields, last time I helped my grandfather we were lucky to have frozen milk jugs of water ;-)
GPSToday could do that for you, you can share and receive waypoints in real time from subscribed groups, but I'm not sure about the navigating to the other spot in a rural area, might have to just see how it does.
As you say, there are many programs which can share a location but real time which will work as you'd want in a rural area not sure. You'd almost want to have a heading to the location to find the waypoint later vs it just being on a map.
Hi cwrisley,
As khaytsus said, GPSToday might be exactly what you are looking for. Give it a shot. http://www.geoterrestrial.com/
If both of you install GPStoday on your phones, all you need to do it send him a GeoMail via sms to send him a particular location. He will instantly see the location open up on his map.
Thanks

GPS app - Offline maps and offroad navigation

On my Windows CE PND, I use oziexplorer.
Using Mobile atlas creator I can use Google or OSM maps, and at the same time it has features like "as the crow flies navigation" to a waypoint, or load upto 5gpx tracks and show on screen, and navigate by gpx track.
It also writes tracks, with a new track for every day(useful over multi day trips).
I was looking at similar android apps.
I came across the following
1. Locus
This is the most popular, but gpx writing etc., has just been added, and is basic
2. Trekbuddy - Very old app, I am not sure if any current dev is going on
3. Big Planet tracks - Looks very promising, and feature set advertises "waypoint navigation etc,m'
4. Oruxmaps - Again very popular, can load gpx track
All the above maps do not split tracks by day.
I also found some quirks. For example in oruxmaps, there is no way of telling whether its writing a track or not. the button does not change shape on pressing play pause etc.,
All the above are great apps, but from an offroad navigation standpoint, I am not aware which is the best.
Of course there are paid apps like Maverick etc., but currently I am looking only at free apps.
Oziexplorer for android is under alpha stage, and many features are missing, but since I have already purchased a license long time back, I presume, I should be able to use it once it comes(nobody knows when), if the licensing terms are same.
What do you guys suggest? Any offroad navigators here?
any other apps which I may have missed?
thank u very much
Have you tried Brut Maps?
Brut maps are good for offline mapping. For this purpose orux/locus etc., all are excellent solutions. I am looking for a good off road gpx and navigation system. similar to oziexplorer. All the apps I mentioned are somewhat capable of what I need, but not every feature is available.
I think the Big Planet tracks is the most promising, since source is open, and with more developers joining in, things can get better!
I'm on the same hunt, a good off road gps navigator. I go off road a lot (have jeep, will travel) and the trails i go on do not exist on conventional maps. they are on topo maps as dotted lines or "jeep trails". I used to use GPS Tuner when i was on windows mobile. Loved that program. best thing out there in terms of off road navigation. hopefully they'll port it to android soon.
I'm currently trying Maverick, OruxMap, and Gaia GPS to see how they compare.
Maverick seems to be the best so far. Easy to learn and use. And has a lot of map options. Plus with the newest version they finally allow custom mapping, which means you can use a program like MapMaker to create a downloaded map with your choice of a source. I also like its interface and how it responds. Also love the one click ablity to drop a waypoint.
OruxMap seems like a good program, but it gets on my nerves a bit when you can not search around on the map, by dragging it, without it doing that "distance to target" crap. My other complaint about it is that it seems you can't just load a bunch of waypoints in without a track. wtf? hopefully i'm just missing something, but so far i can not load my already existing kml file (and yes, tried as gpx as well) full of waypoint markers without a track in progress or from the past. I do not like that. When I go off roading, i would like to load the markers, and have it track where i go. mainly because my "markers" are more like virtual notes to me on forks in the trail and what each one does. plus some of my markers are POI along the trail, like a nice rock climb or deep mud bogg, and I'd like to be able to just click that and have it point me in the direction of it without having to already be on my way.
Gaia GPS is nice and simple. nothing really fancy about it, except the price you pay for such a simple app. It is great if you want access to the old topo maps that it seems no other gps program can get without importing them via MapMaker. Its very easy to use, simple to follow and does its main job perfectly. show where you are ontop of topo maps. this is good for someone like me that wants to see where the old jeep trails are because like i said earlier, seems no mapping company marks these anymore.
And I've tried testing these all as best as i can. Right now I'm grounded to roads only due to the fact my off road ability is shot due to a bad transfer case. but hopefully i'll be able to do a true middle of no where, no cell service, off road test off these apps and any others i can remember to install before leaving the network.
But right now, if i had to pay for one, it'd be Maverick.
I am finding androzic quite nice too. Currently trying orux and androzic, will finalize about one of them

I on a similar hunt - how did u get on?
Androzic is the way to go!
Oruxmap is almost there, but Androzic is totally Oziexplorer like. And guess what, Oziexplorer truly rocks.
I think orux maps would be close if it auto saved waypoints you created manually, and did not have so much confusing screen clutter.
I love androzic for the "look ahead feature", where I can look ahead a set percentage towards the direction I am travelling.
If you do try androzic, do not forget to download img2ozf from the project page(version 2) as newer version of img2ozf from oziexplorer website will create ozfx3 format maps from mobile atlas downloaded maps, which is not supported by androzic.
Awesome!
Thank you!!
I too have GPS units that I get in for myself & friends and we all go 4x4ing deep in the aussie bush.
Since the tablets have come along way I have been thinking about trying one with off-roading to compare to our current GPS units. However, if I can get a good tablet with GPS, and GPS software that I can port my 6gig worth of oziexplorer maps... I am set!!
I am going to look in to Androzic asap - currently I have masses of CD's with rooftops maps & that is the main thing I want on the droid tablets!
Thanks again for this thread!!
Guys, no question...
I mean it seriously. Menion (the dev of Locus) spends several hours a day in making Locus the best offline map app ever. If you have some suggestions or missing features, why don't you put it on his wishlist?
I looked at locus, but as things currently stand, oruxmaps has kind of come out on top for me.
It can write tracks, read tracks, navigate as a crow flies to a waypoint, or navigate a track.
Now I need to ask the devs to work on the trip computers.
For example, multiple odometers, with individual reset etc.,

[Free]CardCloud Flashcards Study App

Hi, I recently took an Android Development at my school where I made this Flashcards Study App.
There's still a lot of work I want to complete before I call it finished, but it's a good start I think. I still want to add more quizlet functionality to it (since quizlet.com doesn't seem to have an android app yet.)
Download the App!
Some features:
* Offline Mode to study on the go without an internet connection.
* Adjust card flip speeds in the settings menu
* Long press on a deck to view options
* Shuffle your flashcards
* Search Quizlet to access millions of flashcard sets.
* Edit, Delete, and Create new flashcards with a breeze
* Text-to-speech integration
* Multi-language support
* Identify your strengths and weaknesses by keeping track of how well you know a card.
* Reverse Question and Answer sides on cards
* Improved UI
EDIT:
I attached an apk that you guys can use since I can't seem to post a link to the play store.
Or alternatively, You can search for "CardCloud FlashCards" in the play store to get the official app.
I'd recommend it since I'm planning on pushing a lot of new features in the upcoming weeks.
Thanks!

Here's an uploaded APK file you can use in the meantime
Or you can search for "CardCloud Flashcards" in the play store if you want the official version.
Thanks for trying it out!
Definitely let me know if you run into any problems.
So far nice ui
Works good. Is it possible to share own decks with friends? It would be amazing, also an option for read only and read write permissions for shared decks.

Sharing is definitely a feature i'm going to be adding in the feature. Right now i'm torn between integrating some sort of facebook social network to allow for easier sharing. I've been busy trying to learn Ruby on Rails Development and Android Dev at the same time, so the cardcloud website is a bit lacking at the moment. But Sharing is definitely a big feature I want to implement.
Currently I'm in the middle of adding an ability for users to mark each card as easy/hard and then creating an infinite shuffle that will have a smart algorithm to show difficult cards more often.
That should be about two weeks out, and then I'll start working on the Deck sharing.
Great suggestion on the Read/Write permissions too! I think that would be an awesome feature, I've written it down on my notepad, so definitely stay tuned to this thread for any updates I make!
Thanks for trying out my app!

Hi. Great app. Is it possible to manually edit or create a set on a PC and transfer / open / import into the application?
A quick way of implementing this might be to add CSV or XML export and import?
Perhaps a link up to Google docs for cloud storage and on line editing?
Also, would you consider the addition of images on the flip cards? Perhaps a HTML format would make this easy to implement? A picture paints a thousand words and all...
Keep up the good work and I hope its a great success.
Steve.

Opening a quizlet with images renders nothing visible on the card
Steps to reproduce...

3. See the text (e.g. "2010 Honda civic") but on clicking the card to see the flip side - there is nothing.

CardCloud - Flash Cards
CardCloud,
Great effort thus far ... you've added the ability to create card sets! This is HUGE.
Some tips I hope you're able to fix in the coming updates, please.
1. Settings - there should really only be on 'settings' button for the app (the vertical elipses button; top right/bottom right corners).
2. Logon - should be a little more clear "what" service the logon pertains to.
- I thought the ability to logon to Quizlet would work with this ?? I'm an Android newb and I've already realized things are "assumed/presumed" to be known to new users, which its not clear on many applications or the OS itself.
3. KEEP the "skip logon" this is critical and I've come across many notes type apps that I cannot even create a note when in the subway because they require a persistent internet connection = total pain in the ass and useless! You've got a good thing going with this "skip logon" ability please KEEP IT Much appreciated.

Thanks! I'm planning on adding that feature pretty soon. Right now I'm on the verge of adding support for marking cards as either correct or incorrect. Also I'm adding in an in-app purchase to remove ads. I've also been working on the website portion of my app (cardcloud.net) which will allow you to upload your local decks onto a website (once you create an account) once it's uploaded, you'll be able to export from the site.
That's still a work in progress, hopefully in a week or two, I'll have that ready for you.
In the meantime, you can expect an update for marking the correctness of each card in the next day or two!
Thanks for the compliments, and thanks for trying out my app!

Hey! Supa_Fly, thanks for the kind words.
I really like the idea of the skip button for logins. The reason the login is there is to allow users to sync their decks with the website portion of the app. (CardCloud.net) But I've been busy working on the app and haven't had a chance to get the webapplication completed yet. Hopefully in the next week or two You'll be able to backup your local decks/cards onto a website, where you can save them on a computer.
The settings functionality is a bit confusing, so I've done a bit of tinkering with it to make it more intuitive to use. Thanks for the suggestions though! I really appreciate the feedback.
In the meantime, I'm working on a v1.2 release which will allow users to mark cards as either correct/incorrect/half-correct/etc, to help with remembering your learning progression. Keep an eye out for that. Hopefully I'll be able to push that up to the google store by tomorrow. I'll also update this thread once that's complete!
Thanks again for trying my app!
Hey. Just uploaded an update to the current App on the Appstore.
Some New features:
* Identify your strengths and weaknesses by keeping track of how well you know a card. Mark a card as Correct/Incorrect/etc
* Reverse Question and Answer sides on cards
* Improved UI
* Settings AutoSave when changed, rather than having to hit a save button
* When Viewing a Deck from Quizlet, download the deck directly from the cardview for your convenience.
* Change your settings (flipspeed and question/answer reversal) from the cardview.

Hi, my girlfriend wrote out 20 sets as study for her exam on Wednesday. Her phone updated your app and it seems her card sets have been deleted (or lost). :crying:
Is your new updated version deleting user inputted card sets?
I'd greatly appreciate a quick response if you have a way to retrieve them.
PS, where are the card sets saved? In files (what location in phone)? Perhaps we can retrieve them manually?
Thanks, Steve.
Hey sd00, I'm really really really sorry that happened.
I found a bug in my code that was clearing the sqlite DB on updates.
I fixed the bug, but unfortunately it looks like her cards have been wiped.
This is embarrassing, I'm a noob and didn't realize that would happen.
There's nothing I can do, but promise it won't happen again.
For what it's worth, If I sent you guys an ad free version of that app, would that help?
Again, I'm really sorry, let me know what I can do to try to make it better.
I'm working on the ability to create decks online and then sync them to your phone, so hopefully that'll make it easier in the future to recreate the decks.
(If you'd like, you can even send me the questions/answers and I'll type them back up for her myself.
if you pm me an email address, I can send you an apk for the free version too.
Again, I apologize for my noobness.
For such a new app - this was an unforeseen mistake by the developer. The fact that he's VERY apologetic and this app does offer some great features over the competition I'll still support this app!
As experience is gained and more testing directly by the developer we'll this app continually excel and grow in feature sets and less bugs. Not many people appreciate developers' hard work and even less developers are as humble as this one.

Hey Supa_Fly, thanks for the kind words and support! It's been a lot of fun working on this app and I've learned a lot from the experience. Hopefully as I improve, so will the app. Sorry again to sd00 for the bug. I spent a few days testing and retesting to make sure it wouldn't happen again before I pushed up the newest update this afternoon.
I've been working on the syncing functionality the last week or so and I got it finally working the way I wanted. Not 100% yet, but allowing users to create their decks online I think is a necessary feature, since writing out individual cards on a phone is a pain. I'd like to tweak it a bit to make syncs work faster/better, but I'm slightly limited by my web server since it's a bit slow. Hopefully if I can generate any revenue through the app, I'll be able to put it towards faster servers. I'll keep an eye on the bug log to make sure nothing goes awry though.
I've pushed the new features up onto CardCloud.net allowing users to login to their accounts and create their cards online. Also, I uploaded the app updates to the google play store so users should be able to get the updated app with fixed functionality. Hopefully I didn't mess anything up this time .
In the meantime, I have a couple new features in the pipes that I'm working on that I think should improve the app. Hopefully I'll be able to get these pushed out in the upcoming weeks:
- Image support for flashcards. Definitely a top priority feature, should have an update for this within the next few weeks.
- Rich Text Editing. Another top level feature I want for the app.
- Better Quizlet integration. Search for usernames, and returning public decks, recently studied, etc
Anyways, sorry for the wall of text. When I get new features implemented for this app, I will post them here.
Development stops?

[APP]NeverForget Reminder - A New Revolutionary Location Reminder

Hey guys,
We are a small team of android developers that had a cool idea of a reminder app which we have released to the market some time ago.
The app called 'NeverForget Reminder' and the idea is simple: A solution to forgetting stuff when you leave your home(or your current location). There are tons of situations when this app may be useful. A classic example is when you leave your home at the morning to your job, you surely need to take with you some stuff such as your bag, wallet, keys, etc.. NeverForget's Reminder purpose is to make sure you won't forget any of it again. Another example is when you visit your friends house and you brought with you some stuff, when leaving it, the last thing you want is to forget that stuff at your friends home. NeverForget will remind you to take it when you leave that place.
One of our main goals was to make the app as simple as possible, so there is one main button. Click it to start the reminder. And when you will leave your current place, the app will start a loud alarm. There are additional options available such as setting the alarm name or taking a photo of the stuff you need to take.
After thinking of this idea, we have searched a lot and could not find any solutions to that common problem. After deeper search we understood why is that. There is NO way to determine device's location inside a building, for these days. GPS does not working inside closed places, and that was our biggest issue that we successfully overcame with NeverForget.
Basically what we do is rely on WiFi networks around you. Then we make calculations to determine when you getting away from that network and when you do, a load alarm starts with a reminder. If no WiFi networks around you, GPS service is required.
The app is FREE to use and available at Google Play.
We would appreciate your feedback and hope you will try out our app - NeverForget Reminder.
For any questions you can send us an email to: [email protected]

Thanks.

[APP][5.0+] Simple, No-Nonsense betting record keeping app

Hi,
I am looking for opinions about the android app I made.
All the mobile apps I tried for keeping my sport betting records required a lot of input data, which was used for creating different statistics about your betting habits. Which is great, but I was always to lazy when it came to daily inserting all that data, so I usually used excel for the purpose of keeping track of my wins and loss ratio. Excel is great, but is not very well suited for smartphone, so I decided to make a simple app, that requires minimum time and effort for inserting just the basic daily data, and this is the result. The goal was to make it very simple (maybe it is even too simple). So I would be very grateful for any opinions. Thank you for any comments.
