Had same problem. This worked for me:
http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!topic/chrome/7YefrdRfJx8[1-25-true]
Open up Google Chrome and in the address bar type - chrome://plugins/
You will then see a Details link over to the right-hand side of the page. Click the + and you’ll see a long list of the installed plugins in detail.
Look in the Flash section and find the line which has the text - \pepflashplayer.dll
Click the Disable link next to this line and restart the browser.

Just read up on what you told me to do, and did it. Thanks for the advice. I will see if it works for this site.

i've had that disabled for a while and i still get random crashes. not sure what to do

Happened to me again to. I added adfree or adblock for chrome and that finally did the trick for me.

Browser crashing is usually a result of bad script on a website or some kind of incompatibility.
I use Firefox more than Chrome and get less issues. However, I do have adblock plus addon, which obviously blocks ads, at the same time, causes less objects to load thus less problems, maybe ads could be causing your issues.
Try a different browser, works for me. Play offers many browsers to choose from.

Google Chrome to Phone

Do you use Google Chrome to Phone. I just read a review about it. Chrome to Phone isn’t a new product — I’ve been using it since May. Chrome to Phone is a simple combination of a Chrome extension and Android application that allows you to click one button in your browser, and sync what you were viewing right to your Android phone to be check out at a later time.
Reading a news article but need to head out the door to drive to work? Simply click the Chrome to Phone button on your Chrome browser, launch the Chrome to Phone application on your Android device at work, and it immediately takes you to the webpage you were viewing at home so you can pick up right where you left off. I use this feature all the time, and assume many of you would as well.
Google Chrome to Phone lets you easily share links, maps, and currently selected phone numbers and text between your computer running Chrome and your phone.
Very handy! When using your computer’s browser, right-click on an image/link & send that link/image to phone. I used it just now to send an .mp3 link of a 101Mb DJ set to my phone – very simple! Very little hassle…

If you are having problems with chrome in xda, first try running the browser in porn mode with your extensions off to make sure it's not one of them...
I had a world of troubles using adblock with some sites in chrome, and in the end decided i'd rather deal with ads then try to sort out exceptions for each of those sites.
I use Fox To Phone (Firefox version of Chrome To Phone) and it works beautifully.

Stock GB Browser bug?

Hi All,
I've done some cursory searches, and maybe I'm not using the right keywords, but I was wondering if others are experiencing this and if there's a setting somewhere I'm not seeing to maybe shut off this weird bug.
Here's the most recent example that illustrates this issue. I was browsing around on the xda-forums and there was an attached APK I wanted to download. So, on the computer I clicked on the QR Code and just had my stock (rooted, GB v2.3.6) phone detect the direct download to the apk from the link using barcode scanner. It correctly identifies the link and I click on open in browser. The stock browser loads automatically and begins to download the apk. Great. I hit the home button, pull down the notification, click on the downloaded file, it asks me to install the apk, I agree, it installs, I open it. Wonderful.
I then open my email and there's a link to a site. I click on it and then the browser proceeds to load the last loaded page, in this case a downloadable file. So it proceeds to download the file AGAIN and appending -N.apk (where N is the next available number) to the filename. Unless I restart the phone, it will continue to download the file again and again, increasing the value of N every time I attempt to load the browser again. Whether by clicking on a link, or just opening the browser directly from the app's icon. Any thoughts on this?! Am I just doing something wrong? I guess this is a feature you want to load the last page you had open the last time the browser was used, which is fine for web-pages, but I don't want it to keep downloading the same file over and over again every time I load the browser!
Any thoughts or suggestions, or even a link to where this is discussed and hopefully resolved would be of GREATEST appreciation!
Thanks!

Hit menu>new window
That will prompt your gmail attachment to open in that new window.
I use an app called Download Them All and never get that problem. It will download attachments, files from the net, etc. Good little app.

I'm not sure that resolves the issue. Since the initial attempt to open a browser window was in fact to load up a downloadable file (the original APK). Every time I open the browser app, it attempts to reload the last loaded page (or in this case, the file) and so it redownloads the file. In order for me to click on Menu>New Window, I would still have to load the browser app and it's at that stage it redownloads the file.
When the download has started.. manage windows. Close the window.

Yeah...I tried that...you'd think it would work, right? For some reason, the browser doesn't respect that....
Only thing I can recommend at this point is to use a different browser... or user lol jk!

Did you try the Download Them All app?
It eliminates the browser from opening at all.
Also, check the settings for the browser and see if there is an option to disable cookies being saved. Clear your cache, etc. That should stop the issue for this particular item at least.

Thanks, I installed it but haven't really tested it yet. Not sure how this is supposed to fix the issue though since the app doesn't load BEFORE the file is downloaded, it's on the list of apps to select once you click on an already downloaded file and it asks you where you want to save it - which is a nice feature, but doesn't prevent the file from downloading in the first place.....
Thoughts?

[Q] XDA homepage is looking weird.

Hi, I have been getting this 'weird look' for the XDA-developer (dot) com homepage. I tried both (the latest stable) chrome and (latest stable) firefox. It has been like this for about a week now. All other pages (portal, forum, wiki, etc) look normal but just the homepage is seemingly broken.
The moment I signed up to answer the question, the homepage is back to normal now. It is now back to normal on firefox too.
What freakish sorcery is this? My intention with this query is more of curiosity. Why does this happen? It is also happening with the dell.com (worldwide) website. What is technically (possibly) going wrong behind the scenes here?
Thanks in advance. :good:
I have the same issue. I don't know about Firefox, but on chrome you just have to click the shield icon in the address bar and click on whatever option comes up there (I can't remember exactly what it says but it should be fairly obvious) and it should sort refresh the page in the correct layout. Annoyingly, AFAIK you're going to have to do this every time you visit the portal.

I haven't been getting this issue, but I've seen it before.
I'm not a web developer, but maybe CSS style information not loading correctly ?
When I get this issue, refreshing the page usually works for me. I get it when our connection lags, too - and doesn't load everything (er, I think that's what's going on, anyway).
That fixed the error!

Thanks! That fixed the error. Wow! So its cause Chrome detects xda-dev homepage having 'insecure content'. I hope xda site admins do something about this soon cause its super annoying!

+1, I think it may be something to do with one of the plugins I have installed, since on another laptop on chrome there seems to be no issue.
Excellent Suggestion!

You were right. Its being caused by the 'HTTPS Everywhere' extension. When I disable, it, the page loads correctly. I had that installed on my firefox too. I hope XDA soon moves their complete website to HTTPS. The extension doesn't seem to have any settings where I can acknowledge an exception.

Of course, I have the same plugin installed I CBA to disable/uninstall it right now, but at least I know what's causing the issue.
Chrome+XDA Forum - Weird look
Since a couple of days I have the forum being displayed as following in Chrome:
In Firefox everything is as usual.

Address bar suggestions not showing up in Chrome

For some reason today, when I type a search query or URL in the address bar in Chrome, no predictions are coming up. I have the 'Search and URL suggestions' box ticked in settings/privacy.
I tried switching the search engine to Yahoo instead of Google and started getting suggestions again, but I much prefer the suggestions that Google makes. I've tried restarting my phone, clearing data from Chrome in Apps, Force closing Chrome, uninstalling updates to Chrome etc. Nothing.
Does anyone have any idea how I can get address bar predictions to come back?
Thanks
Same issue here.

I've got the same issue too, and just noticed this today! But I have an HTC One M8 (AT&T version).
See my Google product forums post about this:
https://productforums.google.com/fo...e=footer#!msg/chrome/xTTHziAr1C0/9b7w4CHSiQYJ
Maybe if others reply to my thread on there (stating that you also have the problem) Google will take notice of it?
Interestingly the search suggestions *do* show up if I use Google Now or Firefox or default HTC browser, or pretty much in any other app (even Google Play) that uses Google search. Just not in Chrome (any more).
As my thread says, it *used* to work in Chrome just fine. If I try to "uninstall" Chrome, meaning roll it back to the oldest default version that came with the phone, then Google search suggestions again work just fine. But then soon Chrome auto-updates and it doesn't work again.
So… since I'm not the only one experiencing this, I'm thinking that a recent Chrome update must have caused this, in which case a lot more people should be noticing it soon… I hope. I'm not sure when the latest Chrome update was, or if this only effects certain devices, or what.
Anyway, if anyone has any ideas on how to fix this, please share!
thanks

So I looked further into it, and it's "Google Instant" and apparently it'snot working on a bunch of phones, including the LG G2... I can't tell if its an LG thing or Android thing. Apparently Chrome Beta has this issue as well... but not on my Chrome Desktop
Can confirm this started happening to my phone too. Seems to be a problem with clearing history too. Weird.

Ah is it all phones or just a few models?
Same issue here. Not exactly sure when it stopped working...
I get this to. I think it started last night. If i uninstall and go back to the preinstalled chrome found in kitkat 4.4.2 it works fine. Or if I switch to bing as search engine It will work.
trying to google it I'm not getting too much for this. So I'm thinking it might be just us 4.4.2 users???
Hope it gets fixed soon
I thought it was only me. Spent an hour or so trying to figure it out. Hopefully gets sorted out soon.

I too am having similar issues and can't find a single suggestion that fixes the problem. When I type in the address bar, auto suggestions do appear, but they are only from my search history and bookmarks. None of them are search suggestions like when using google.com.
I did follow the instructions provided to enable Google Suggestions in the address bar, then use Ctrl+K to place the cursor in the Omnibox to conduct a search, and begin to enter query you will receive query suggestions. That is, when Google.com is the default search engine.

Thanks for the advice. I think you're referring to the desktop browser whereas we are all referring to the Chrome browser on the Nexus 5.
My search predictions seem to be back again which is good. Has anyone else got theirs back?

Q - Browser - opening links on Marshmallow

Hello
I updated yesterday my GS6 on Marshmallow and i have a question for all those who are using MM on their devices( no matter if Samsung or not), i noticed that when i open a link in an app(no matter what app) the prompt doesn't have 'JUST ONCE' or 'ALWAYS'(like on Lollipop), it makes as the default browser the first one i choose. On Lollipop i chose 'JUST ONCE' all the time and it was useful because when i wanted to open a link for ex. in Facebook, i opened with Flynx, links in Feedly with Chrome etc., now, if i open a link with Flynx(or Chrome,Firefox etc.) it opens all future links with the same app, without prompting me like in Lollipop. If i want to open the same link with another browser i have to clear the defaults of the first app i have chosen.
I've set the browser to none in the defaults apps, with the hope that it will prompt me like on LP, but it propmts me like in the second screenshot i attached, after selecting a browser, it's like having a single browser LOL, is this Google's implementation or Samsung's? i've found an article on android police that describes exactly the issue i have
http://www.androidpolice.com/2015/1...ow-and-its-why-your-defaults-are-misbehaving/
but it was for MM Beta and i thought this issue was resolved. Is this behaviour present on any of your devices that runs MM?
Here are the differences between Lollipop(first) and MM(second) the third screenshot is with all browsers defaults cleared, but if i open a link with any browser, it auto-defaults as the default browser( in this case,Fynx, 4-th screenshot)
I have the same problem, and i still havent found solution.
