So I am looking to root my GS3 4.1.2 on Verizon I already have with a previous GS3 but after a while Verizon no longer recognized my device so I lost all capabilities to call txt etc. I tried to unroot my device and it bricked. Anyways
Questions
1. Stable vs. Nightly which is recommended
2. How to unroot GS3 running 4.1.2 through Cyanogen Rom.
3. How to activate a Verizon device.
Thanks for all the help I can get!

Today my U.S. cellular Galaxy S III should finally make it here. I apolgize if this is a "noob" question, and have been reading through the forums.
It appears i should get a SCH-R530 model from reading today in the mail. With it being so close to Verizon model, will any of the Verizon ways to root the S3 work with the US Cellular version? If not is there any way currently to root a U.S. Cellular S3?
Thanks for any help

If I'm not mistaken the root method for the VZW SIII should work on that phone. HOWEVER, the same image that is in the dev forum SHOULD NOT be used. It is the stock Verizon with su and Superuser.apk added.
If samsung-updates.com drops a stock image of your phone a system.img can be built so that is flashable via Odin. Regardless, before you go flashing anything you should make sure you have that stock image around so you can get back to square one if anything odd should come up.
EDIT:
If you're interested in building the rooted system image here is the thread where they actually were able to build a clean root from the stock Verizon dump: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1762204 It's not a pretty process. The actual instructions used came from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1739426 I didn't see a drop for the US Cell image yet, but I could be missing it. I can be of some help later this evening if nothing has come up.
Root / Recovery / Custom ROM USCC Galaxy S III
I was able to root my USCC SGS3 using Team Epics directions at epiccm.org/2012/06/cwm-recovery-on-all-sgs3-lte-variants.htm
Make sure to apply root.zip. At some point the OTA updated OS so now overwrites custom recovery.
I have Samsungs default ROM on a rooted S3 with CWM recovery. Now onto CM10 (M snapshot). Heard it was very stable.
get.cm/?type=snapshot
Just used the Samsung easy update tool to get LK5 on my USCC GSIII (OTA update failed) but want to get root again without tripping the flash counter. Thoughts?
Guys, I really need help. I've already bricked one phone with cyanogenmod (long story), so I'm nervous.
I have a Sprint Galaxy S3 running CM11, with Android 4.4.2. I just got it today. I didn't activate it first... Apparently that was a mistake. I went ahead and loaded CM11, but now the phone won't activate. Apparently I needed to activate it before I put Cyanogenmod on the phone.
So now my problem is how do I unroot it? It has Knox, and when I go into download mode, it shows Knox Warranty with a value of 1.
How can I unroot it at this point? Has anyone done this with 4.4.2?
Help, please!
I bought a Samsung Galaxy S3 (SCH-I535) Verizon on Ebay. My service has been with T-Mobile for about 10 years so I don't want to switch carriers. I have unlocked the phone and am running a T-Mobile SIM card. I have text, talk, and limited data (Edge). Still have the stock ROM and stock recovery. The phone is rooted and running 4.4.2 Kit Kat. The bootloader is still locked and I have installed and ran quite a number of apps trying to unlock it. I read where Safestrap 3.71 would work but when I install it and boot to recovery, I still have stock Verizon recovery. It is loaded with bloatware and I would really like to install a custom ROM that is written specifically for T-Mobile.
Is there any way to downgrade this phone to Jelly Bean and get it completely unlocked with a custom recovery and rom? Preferably using a form of d2tmo?

Since you have a d2vzw you cannot run a d2tmo rom on a verizon phone. You can however run a d2lte rom on any S3 LTE variant. If you want to hard brick your phone you can run a tmo rom however I wouldn't ever recommend that
From my CM11 S3
Also, you cannot downgrade to jelly bean and you cannot unlock the bootloader.

I'm normally pretty good about remembering the bootloader thing. Must of been daydreaming that time, thanks man

hey guys, so im sure many have tried to put cyanogenmod on a VZW Samsung Galaxy s III with 4.4.2 OTA on it. but couldnt. im really looking to put CM11 on it. im very much so new to rooting, and flashing roms, but i already rooted my device, and flashed the stock firmware back, due to not having a CWM back up and getting "system software not authorized by verizon" warning.
so my question.
can i downgrade my firmware from 4.4 to earlier to have an unlocked bootloader without bricking it? do i need to go to 4.3 and then 4.1.2?
because before 4.3 it had an unlocked bootloader.
I really want CM because i cant stand touchwiz anymore. thanks guys . help a newb out
oh and. should i use towel root? or another rooting method
Your now on the locked bootloader and you cannot downgrade to another firmware. You can root with towelroot but that's truly about all you can do

Okay guys. Here we go. I screwed up the other day while trying to load a custom ROM following a friends instructions. I tripped Knox on my Verizon Note II 4.3 and was forced to downgrade to 4.1.1. My phone is no longer rooted and I am trying to figure out how to root from 4.1.1 with a locked bootloader and then use safestrap to install custom ROMs. Sadly I cannot find any info anywhere after several hours of searching. I've read up on Knox and I could care less about warranty info (I bought the phone used after all) and I just want to be able to load custom ROMs so I can better enjoy my phone while being able to restore APN settings since I am running on a non-Verizon carrier service. Please help!
Edit: I used RootChecker to make sure that my phone is no longer rooted after downgrading to 4.1.1
Edit: Fixed with Kingo Root
