Nice concept, but would be better if you could get it to work via mobile data or Bluetooth (as opposed to WiFi) since chances are if people are gonna use their phones for music, they will be outdoors somewhere not at home where they probably have a music system already.

I agree with @djsubtronic but really good job ! First topic added in my favorite

Hello djsubtronic and thank you for your feedback! :good:
SoundSeeder supports Androids built-in mobile Hotspot.
You can create the mobile Hotspot (a link to the Wi-Fi settings is inside the app) and connect all devices to that Hotspot.
So you can use the app outdoors in the park while having a picnic.

And great to know that it works on your Atrix! :good:

Thats a great idea!
Is it really without any delay?
I have an unused HTC Hero with Gingerbread, this sound like the perfect use case for it.
I will give it a try, directly after work.

I love this app so much!!! Working flawlessly :victory:
However, about the in-app purchase, I wonder the license is just valid for the device that purchased or intergrated to the account? I do need the app right now but I'm not really willing to purchased it for my friend since my phone just stop at 4.0 till I got a new one.

Thank you @v_plou
The license is bound to the google account that makes the purchase and not to the device. If you you have multiple devices running with your account, you can use the full version of SoundSeeder on each of them.

The synchronous playback was the main target, when implementing the app.
There are allready some apps in the play store that can stream music to other devices, but all of them had delays of 30-100ms when we tested them.
So we decided to try to make it better.
And so far it looks quite good on the devices we have tested with. :good:

Hello @jekatt
I've now tested the app a little bit more and must say I really like it!
But I'm missing one feature in the music player:
Saving and managing Playlists would be great!

Worked like a charm on my note 2 and s3. Going to test on several old androids in a while. Might I suggest widgets on both the player and speaker sides?

:good: You are right, thats a good idea.
Currently you can use playlist files, that are found on your phone.
We will add the feature to create, edit and delete own playlists.

Thank you kroewe, any suggestions on how to improve Soundseeder are very welcome!
Currently our plan is to create a "standard media player" widget, to see the current song, control the playback and jump inside the app.
Would you like to have a similiar widget on speaker side to just see the current song and jump to the speaker interface?

Update v0.6
Hey everyone.
Update v0.6 for SoundSeeder Player and Speaker is out now.
Beside minor bugfixes and improvements, the main target of this release are two new homescreen widgets for the SoundSeeder Player.
We hope you like them. :fingers-crossed:
As always we woud be glad about getting much feedback, wishes (and criticism).

Love the widget on player side. Works great.
Is it possible to get a widget on the speaker side too? Perhaps showing track information, player name and possibly a connect to found player button?
Also, transparency settings on both widgets?
Sorry for all the requests, but this is a perfect use for some of these old phones I have laying around.
Great job so far, purchased to support future development.

the free version has ads....including it in the rom would then be unethical............
can u upload a free lite version with advanced features such as equalizer stripped off...
Could you please make it so on startup (or settings) it asks you where all your music is? So it doesn't have to scan and what not. This is useful for us people with the media scanner off. That would make it complete.
its wonderful
only thing i would want is a lyrics viewer when i tap on the artwork
but it still is great

Thanks!
Thank you all for feedback! It's very pleasant and motivating!
Feel free to tell about problems and/or required features. I cannot promise that all of them will be made, but it's defenitely reason of discuss
Cool stuff! I love 8-bit chiptunes.
As a matter of fact i'm using kronegg as ringtone.
Speaking of which.. I think it'll be cool if we can output the sounds as wav files or mp3 to be used as ringtone..
I think FFMPEG supports some known formats.
I know it could be done in PC. Just a thought
Edit: sorry if my idea deviates from the app's purpose (chiptunes player and not a converter)

Adding mp3 conversion for one-time-shot feature like a ringtone conversion seems inefficient.
Use desktop version for such purposes- it can convert to wav/mp3/ogg/flac formats.
AFAIK, android supports plain wav playback out of the box- this can be done with easy.

I meant using desktop version of ZXTune
It supports all the chiptunes formats as Android version does and has a scanner to search music inside archives/programs (ZX-Spectrum basically).

Any chance for chromecast audio & standard chromecast?
Chromecast support is definitely something I want to look at! Should be very possible to implement, but the focus is to first implement all missing features I want to implement, and meanwhile make the app stable.
Anyway stay tuned for updates as I will probably implement what is fastest to implement AND mostrequested first.
Of course I'll support something like this, I bought the plus right away without testing.
Two things I'd like more than anything in every music player there is, that's
10 band graphics EQ
Be able to choose folder play, today you got artist, album, tracks
And want/wish
CHROMECAST MUSIC & or CHROMECAST STANDARD support. And if you can also support for Apple wireless music/video standard(don't remember it's name).
Thanks for great app idea, it's a good looking music player, I always use power amp, since I was in it from the beginning. BUT NOW IM looking for something more light designed and good with good quality, and options and so on, and you'll fit that description very well. Good luck in future development.
Edit...
Also put an X to be able to quit application in notifications drawer(pull down).
Folder play is in there, but you have to enable it in the settings
It needs a bit of work, I know. But let me hear what you don't like about it.
I also answered you a bit on G+
Again, thanks for the support and stay tuned for an update later this week!
Just released an update which finally adds playlist support!
Here is an image from the Trackpicker-Screen
Expect some more, smaller updates in the coming days!
Cheers!
Got a bunch of "error scanning file" toast notifications when adding my music directory. However, the songs with errors seem to still show up in the app. Here's a log. Using Android 7.0 on OnePlus 3.
Edit: The toast notifications pop up again upon rebooting the device. I can provide a log after rebooting if you'd like.
@FroyoShark : Re-Popping up is because of automatic rescan.
I'll have a look at it!
Meanwhile, try to retag your mp3 files with something like Picard
It's worth noting that settings to disable to auto-rescan as well as an alternative scanning method are basically finished, just need to implement them into the UI and push an update
Stay tuned.
v0.13.5 is now live with:
- Bugfixes
- Improvements to playlists
- More supported filetypes for embedded lyrics
- Properly materialized "AlbumDetail"-Screen
Edit:
v0.14.0 is live wit:
- tag-editor which supports lyrics
Edit2:
v0.15.0 is live with:
- translucent skin supporting dark and light flavors
screen:
Edit:
A lot of work has been done over the weekend up to this very moment
and we've actually just pushed RC2 containing a boatload of fixes.
Maybe one or another hidden gem has also made it in this version, you might wanna look out for that
As of now, my personal wishlist for a v1.0 is pretty much done and am now focusing on feature requests (so bring 'em!) and fixes.
Of course, a few things on my list are not in yet, and will be developed over time.
We now are officially released!
A lot of fixing and implementing feedback from reddit (of all places...) was done and we hope it's enough for a 1.0 release
The 1.1 version is already in planning, decoupling completely from androids own media library, adding in smart playlists, adding in sorting options and all that good stuff!
A little update on Chromecast support: I don't personally own a chromecast, heck I don't even own a TV and there seem to be no working emulators out there... So spending 40 Bucks, just to develop a single feature, isn't probably worth it, sorry
If you wan't to get the newest features first, consider joining beta-testing! You can opt-in and opt-out at any time using this link.
And last but no least here are 10 gift-codes exclusive to XDA
ALL OF THEM ARE USED BY NOW!

Used a code (second last). Thanks for that!
Looks promising though it stutters sometimes when I change screens (Nexus 5x Nougat) in the app.
Just saw this and downloaded it, liking it a lot but it isn't detecting my existing playlists - is that a bug or a not implemented feature?
Is there away to remove the message i get everytime I open the app of "error scanning file"
Sent from my Redmi Note 3 using Tapatalk
This is an excellent player, with just the things needed!
But:An essential feature that is missing is the option to make the player open up on startup directly on the ''directory'' category (or any of the others),with the last used folder that you listened too already in place.Like making the player remembering your last folder used.
It is very inconvenient having to navigate all the way from the parent directory to lets say an album's folder 10 folders deep in file structure.
Please fix this! Thanks for the player!

It's not yet implemented. You can expect a playlist importer / exporter and autodetecting playlists, as well as smart playlists, in the coming weeks.

I will look at this when I provide the ability to customize the library-tabs. Before that, the current library system gets an overhaul, which is then optionally completely independent of androids media scanner.
Should take a while but not all too long.

i hope you implement this soon..!The player is somehow inconvenient for people that only use directory view, like me.
Each time i open the player i have to:
1)open the app
2)scroll the default track's artwork down so i can reach the list views
3)tap on ''directories''
4)tap to ''device strorage''
5)scroll all the way down my files till i find the folder ''music''
6)scroll to find the category i was listening to
7)find the folder i want
8)scroll to find the track
9)press play.
You see,for people like me the thing that the player can't remember the ''directories'' last used folder or that it doesn t have the option to choose a default folder that the directories view open up to when you enter ''directories'' or even, like many players do,have the app open up directly inside the last folder you used, makes this player so much trouble.
Other than that the player is excellent, but you need to implement these options soon before exiting beta.
@korekore1
No, you don't have to go through all those steps, just tap the song info area (track name , artist name, album name) and it will bring you right back to the last folder, but that's more or less explained in the tutorial. (...Guess the wording needs to be clearer...)
With that beeing said, I have an update for the beta-branch planned for today-ish which has the ability to reorder any tab in the library and all that good stuff
Edit: It is live for beta users and if all goes well it should soon be pushed to everyone
Also, if the directory tab is in one of the first two spots, it will open directly to the last directory played from
Edit2:
Version 1.1.0 is now live for everyone featuring smart playlists, customizable tabs, a share functionality and of course fixes.
I feel like this is the most stable release as of yet and realize that this should've probably been 1.0...
Really nice app, used it for a while on my OP3 just some minor bugs at the beginning.
Will there be an equalizer where you can change the volume of the headphones?
Like giving the left one more volume than the right? Could be useful for people with messed up headphones.

A balance option.
Probably not, depends on how many people are asking for it.
Stuff that is on my ToDo-list however is:
Playlist import / export
Converting the artist list to have cards with artist images (similar to the album list)
Adding context-menus in directory view
"Now Playing" themes
More widgets
Sorting options for lists
Work on improving the visualizer
