Wait for 4.3 ROMs to come out. I'm peronally using slim 4.3 alpha and quite satisfied with it's performance.

I've tested so much 4.2.2 ROMs for a while but as a result, I also returned to the latest factory image. Now I'm happy with stock 4.1.2 + marmite kernel. That's the first time I could use an uptime session for more than 3 or 4 days. To not support 4.2.* on Nexus S was a smart decision of Google—sorry for the truth, the fewest of us will accept this.
I've also tested this "direct inject" tweaks, but to be serious again: did you really felt the turbo? In my opinion it's a real placebo on our Nexus S.
Maybe I will try 4.3 in the future but I don't really trust the hype today.
4.1.2 + a new kernel, to get more RAM and a lot of great features (like voodoo sound, BLN,...), that's really enough for me. We all forget that new features will also be released in "older" Android versions. A 4.1 from 2012 isn't comparable with a 4.1 from today (e.g. updated Gapps, or features like the new Android Device Manager).

I have tried a ROM, or two, and I agree that 4.1 ROMs run smoother than 4.2.. the battery and performance are nearly the same.. But Slim ROM 4.1.2 is the best balance of features, battery and performance; combined with the newest kernels..

Personally HellyBean 4.1 and 4.2 are my fav...but then again I'm what you call a flashaholick and CM10, BlackBean 6, or Slim 3.1 work great for me, all of them coupled with marmite kernel

I'm happy with stock 4.1.2 + marmite kernel.

Using 4.3 slim bean alpha as well. work much much smoother than 4.2.2. The only issue I have is that when I try to open "developers options" in the setting menu, it causes the app to crash. Besides that I am very happy with it.

Where could I grab the stock 4.1.2 rooted ROM?

[Q] Change from official JB

Hi everyone!
I need some information about custom roms like CM10/10.1,MIUI and Paranoid Android because i want to replace my official JB rom with one of them.
So,my questions (please compare to the official JB if it possible) :
1.How about the battery? Now it can last a day (11-14 hour) with heavy use (5-6 hour with screen on,some gaming and browsing,5-7 hour on 2G and other half with wifi.
2.The custom roms are noticeable faster and smoother, how about games?
3.How much stable for daily use? Is the camera bug solved?
+1 What's your opinions about the official JB builds?
Thanks,I can keep compromise for the usefull functions but i hope there will be someone who build a great CM build based on official JB .
1: Yes, battery is a little bit better.
2: I don't see differences between stock and custom rom. Games runs very smoothly even in stock.
3: Is stable, and the camera bug isn't solved yet. Flash don't sync with the shot. You can't take photos at night (PS: Only the CM have this bugs. MIUI, SCV7 doesn't)
JB builds are better, 100% working.

The 4.2 chineses is basesd on the 4.1.2 official JB. I mean, it's a rom for the JB official.
But, it says 4.2 when, in fact, is 4.1.2. It's just a modification of the build.prop. It's not real 4.2.

Best Android 4.2 based STABLE rom?

As the title says. Had it but haven't unlocked for a long time. Looking for 4.2 rom.
My Nexus 10 is better than your tablet. Hah.
Cyanogen mod 6.1 is what you're probably looking for, fastest and most stable rom on the market!

Ive been running pacman for a while and its going really well as a daily driver for over a week now.

Also interested in this, had pacman but would loop crash system ui with some settings conflicting I guess. And then I couldn't find the "sweet spot". Tried liquid but had notification problems, some apps wouldn't appear in the status bar.
So for now back to CleanRom till I get time to test more.

I will have to try this, I am running Jellybeans 12 atm because I acutally like Touchwiz themed to look like AOSP, never really liked using the launchers like Nova etc (not sure why). I may try it out just to see what 4.2 has etc.
if it's the AOSP look you thrive for but ejjoy the TouchWiz ROM bean is perfect for that. however, if you decide you want to give another TW ROM a try, I personally run my own rom with my own theme, but I ported bean's theme to Team Synergy's ROM, and also CleanROM.
but for a 4.2.2 ROM my personal favorite is Liquid-RC1, Very stable for me good battery life, and has the most features from what I've ran.
If you would like to run a nice 4.1.2 AOSP ROM I highly suggest, either AOKP nov27 build. or ParanoidAndroid 2.5.6
Paranoid Android also has kick ass 4.2 ROM out, along with PAC ROM it's called, it combines the goodies from CM, Paranoid Android, and AOKP ROMS and put's it all into one. Great ROM, but since there's so many features, many are overlapping eachother, or simply are not enabled yet. BUT I still think it's a great ROM!

Hi guys just had a question that i hope some of you can help me with. I flashed PA 3.10 about 2 days ago and can't find my titanium backups. I have been unable to find them. My internal sd has had some crazy changes to the folders as well. Any Ideas?

Ok so since ive fixed my s 4g from soft brickdom i rooted it and its installed with a cwm-based voodoo lagfix recovery v5.0.2.7, now im looking to install a custom rom but im not sure what one to use, id prefer an ics based rom since in order to go online i need wifi on this phone and the jb roms seem to have wifi issues, so i would like to have working wifi and better battery life, which rom would be best.
Ultragen FTW
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2034855
Ultragen has everything you need. Smooth, fast, and easy on the battery. It's ICS based with some of JB-esque looks.
Misconception about jellybean
4.1.2 is jb and wifi works
But
4.2.2 is also jb and on those jb needs a script to function....so far

Is that so? Well then would a jb rom be better? Im looking for something to increase the functionality a bit, i like playing games and whatnot on it, but i seem to get a serious slap of lag on some of the games now and again, like i said though im running on just rooted, i used titanium backup to remove a bunch of the bloatware, so im not sure if i have to flash in another rom then upgrade to a jb rom or whatnot, the last phone i did anything this deep with was a g1, lol so with these newer phones im kinda a noob
I really liked cyanogenmod 9.1. It was smooth, nearly bug-less (most of the bugs don't really effect the daily users). The lag on games was gone unless you're playing a really demanding 3D game.
This is what I'm currently using:
AOKP ICS
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1733097
An ICS ROM where most stuff seems to be working (even auto brightness!). The AOKP features add some neat stuff like a "Slide" lockscreen followed by a PIN lockscreen (the way iOS does it).

By the way Every Android 4.2.2 ROM is Better then Google Stock ROM Android 4.1.2
Benchmark of Stock ROM Android 4.1.2 is Just 1500+ .. So, i am Very disappointed..
I agree that there is no best ROM, I just wish I had the problem of picking a best 4.3 ROM for the NS4G... there are like 3 choices, maybe, and they don't handle data well, if at all.

Benchmark doesn't mean anything. I mean even if the do, there more than a benchmark number to the every day use.
It's also about stability, smoothness, memory management, multi app use.
I truly think 4.2.1 stock is the most stable of all of them. Add a good kernel to it, and it's like google on steroid. Again, we are talking 512ram here, so don't expect too much. People expect different things from their phone. I don't play games at all, but I stream music via bluetooth constanly while I use navigation. Imagine these 2 memory hogs running at the same time and someone is calling you.
4.2 for me personally was a bit buggy. 4.3 is much better, still not as good as 4.1.
Does BlackBean-9 to Nexus S?
Sorry folks, best rom threads get closed, why? because history shows that almost all of them become arguments over what rom is "better" and essentially, that is something that can only be determined by individual users.
Members are expected to read the thread in development to determine what is "best" for them.

Chose stable custom rom for my sis

Hello people
My sister is considering flashind custom rom on her SGS Advance. And because I'm not familiar with Samsung devices (I have two Sony :>)
I would like to ask you to help me chose the most stable and fully functional custom ROM.
At the moment she has stock JB installed but it has some freezes and doesn't run very well.
What can you recommend? It doesn't have to be the nevest android.
I think I would chose between SkimKat 4.4, CyanogenMod 11 by Team Canjica and VanirAOSP 4.4.4. I know those are very good custom roms.
Can you tell me if there are any issues with those? like reboots, not working features?
If you say custom ROMs, there is no ROM which is bug free but there are stable ROMs.
Stability depends on how and what you use. All 4.4 ROMs have reached to a state where you can use them for daily use.
I am Using CM11 nightly 20140614 and dont have any problems.
All the ROMs have their dev and Q/A threads, you can check them for the most stable builds and the working/non working functionality.
Try the latest vanir aosp its fast, fluid and stable...
For me its the most stable rom yet
Well SlimKat seems to be bugless.
VanirAOSP has some bugs with SystemUI
Go for the slimkat(final). It's the smoothest, fastest rom for our phone.

Test all roms to see which rom fit for you
CM 10.1
Wysłane z WOO-Phablecika 4.2.2...
Vanir is the best!
AOKP 4.2.2 by PV after uninstalling and reinstalling calendar is stable.
Wysłane z AOKP-fonika 4.2.2...
I'd have to go with Vanir. Everything just works and lag is virtually non-existent. The only downside I can see is slightly shorter battery life (could be just my phone though). One advantage that i love is it has it's own updater so it's not much of a hassle to get the latest fixes and improvements!
Another option for her would be to stay with stock JB bit change her kernel to CoCore.

Yeah, you should try this. Cm 10.1 is awesome!
I think u can choose between VanirAOSP or AOSP from j.team.. The last one is disscontinued but its 90% finished and 100% stable.
U can choose one of them, or, simpli, test both because testing is the only (exactly) way to know if ROM is for you (or sister).
See all!
