Hi everyone!
I've been looking at making an a charging dock for my Xperia P and one of the things I would like to add would be a charging point. I was thinking about a micro usb terminal which connected with a terminal on the dock so it would charge without having to keep connecting and disconnecting them. I apologise for the lack of any major keywords but I have no idea what they are called.
Any help about anything that is around or any projects that people have already done would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks in advance,
Chris

Hello all!
I am looking for an awesome dock for my SGS, it's the GT-I9000 from Europe. I am in the USA and I am not familiar with the compatibility / interchanges on the various models.
If anyone has any suggestions for a dock that would be cool!
Would like to have one by my bed and one at my desk. So I need to be able to connect to PC while docked and if possible access 3.5mm port as well, for TV out.
Thank you for your help!
Did you check ebay? there are various cradles for SGS
Yea I did most I find won't let you sync while docked, or use the 3.5mm, only charge.
And I don't want to use a dongle, I just want to plug it into the dock.
Thank though
Just get the official samsung dock, it's pretty nice, lets you do all of that. Automatically puts the phone into the home dock mode too, which is nice.

~Edit - Sorry that one looks like it is for the epic 4g, which is thicker than our phone due to the keyboard, but the dock might work, it depends on whether the USB is on the lower or upper half of the epic if you know what I mean. This one would work for your phone and it's only a few dollars more:

Thanks Nirvana388,
I do however need to be able to sync my device with kies and use the mass storage feature through the USB of phone while docked.
Correct me if I am wrong but, as far as i can tell neither of those cradles allow syncing while docked, and for me that kinda defeats the purpose of the dock/cradle, it is instead a glorified charger. The ads are very deceiving and the only reason I know that those features are not available is by reading the customer reviews.
Thank you for the suggestion though

As you can see from the pics there is a microusb connector on the back, just make sure the cable you insert there is in fact connected to your PC.
I've bought a cheapo cradle off of ebay, works fine for sync and charge, has a usb cable and also a charger! But it does not have the 3.5mm connector so not sure if it would be any good to you. http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-Sync-Dock-C...393647?pt=PDA_Accessories&hash=item45f84ac72f

Dear all,
I tried to charge my Transformer with USB extension, and they are not working as i thought. reason i extend the USB extension due to the OE usb charger are short... as i back to normal connection, it works. i am suspecting voltage drop along it. any great answer from community are highly appriciate
thx in advance

make sure your usb extension is usb 3.0 compatible. The transformer uses the extra pins for extra power.

So I was thinking a bit here... Is it possible to charge and sync the tablet at the same time?
Im planning on making a charger port on the PC like this
But, wouldnt it be possible to attach the data cables from a USB port as well, basically making it a 12V USB port?
Or, does the tablet shut off all USB data when it receives 12-15V? Or is the charger cable wired in a weird way that it sends 5V to a different pin on the tablet than the 15V charging voltage?
Also, would it be possible to make something similar for the USB Host Dongle, making it possible to use USB stuff and charge the tablet at the same time? That would obviously require modding and adding a special charging port though.
What do you guys think? Am I thinking completely wrong here?
Sorry, Im just gonna try a bump on this.
If I could figure out a way to charge the tablet while using the USB Adapter it would be awesome, since then I wouldnt really have any need for the keyboard dock (even though its very nice, its still quite expensive when all I really need is a USB port).
Well guys, since youre all chickens ( ), I went ahead and tried charging and syncing at the same time myself...
I'll let the screenshot speak for itself
edit: fix'd the picture...
As this is my first post, I'd like to say hello to the community!
I'm thinking about building a (lap)dock for my a510.
First thing I'm looking for is a way to get the special microusb plug other than buying a new charger, but i think nobody has found a supplyer for just the plug.
Second: Does anybody know if the usb host capabilities do also work if the tab is charging?
Third: As the charging connector has 12(?) pins I am curious which signals are are led out of the plug other than charging.
So if you have an answer to any of the above questions please give a feedback!
Thanks in advance.
Hi.
I recently got an old computer set up that doesn't have Wi-Fi, or an Ethernet cable running nearby. I was delighted to find that I could instead use my Note 3 to provide it with internet. The problem is that the phone doesn't change nearly as quickly on usb, and it appeared to be discharging when I was using it.
The question is, is it possible to make a micro usb cable with two usb male ends, one that goes into an adapter to charge from the wall, and the other to go into a pc to transfer data?
I looked around and apparently no one shares this twisted fantasy, so I figured someone on here can tell me whether it's at all possible.
Thanks in advance
Hi
Thanks for writing to us at XDA Assist. It's probably possible, if you split the cable correctly then theoretically it should work. I can't find anything relating to this on XDA though, but you should be able to find technical schematics for USB cable wiring conventions pretty easily on the interwebz.
Good luck!
Thread closed, thanks.
