FXZ version of 9.20.1 and 9.18.79? - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

so last night i decided to try CM 10.2 initially it worked great, but after i restarted it that was a different story. it wouldn't reboot and it would hang on the unlocked bootloader logo (my bootloader is unlocked).
does a fxz file exist somewhere for these builds i've searched high and low but couldn't find them.
here is what happened. so i tried flashing it again clearing all the necessary stuff like dalvik cache etc. still nothing, of course before this i made a back up through clockwork but unfortunately that back up wouldn't install either. i checked the logs for clockwork and it had logged that it couldn't read the internal memory and couldn't flash the data folder/partition.
oh boy i felt screwed lol but i had an idea to fastboot and fxz file! now i couldn't find one with the most resent release (mainly build 9.18.79.)
i couldnt flash any other older version fxz because the bootloader would say it failed because of a security feature of not letting you downgrade.
i assumed that it was talking about downgrading the bootloader, so i went in to the xml file of an older fxz and deleted the commands that were causing the problems. and it finally flashed and i got to boot up my phone. then went in to recovery and flashed back my backup perfectly.
what i kinda want to know, since i flashed that older version, all my radios have changed back to an older version. so now i have 9.18.79 but with 9.16.6 radios.
maybe i could cook something up using the OTA, but honestly i really want to know if there is a fxz version for either 9.18.79 or 9.20.1

I think if you Do what I did you'll get out of it. Do you know how to use fastboot? If so what build did you have for your razr hd 9.20.1 or 9.18.79? I could most likely walk you through the steps to edit the xml file, or just send you the full zip already edited.

fxz files can be found here:
http://sbf.droid-developers.org/vanquish/list.php
The first one is 9.18.79.
RSD Lite 6.1.5 is here, in case you need it:

Thanks so much man! That helps a lot!
Update: unfortunately the top one was 9.20.1, I'm not sure what the difference is between 9.18.79 and 9.20.1 but it flashed fine. I have a twrp back up of 9.18.79... hopefully the radios and kernel that came with 9.20.1 are the same as 9.18.79.
All these damn build numbers are confusing the heck outta me lol. Any who you still helped me out, thanks!

I can't remember which version I was getting the update notification for. I flashed the official CM nightly 2 days ago and I never took the update. I have the Razr HD Maxx. I should have taken a screenshot but didn't think about it until it's tool late.
What are the differences in the versions?
I want to say it was the .18 version.

I'm not sure on the difference on the two. To be honest I think they exactly the same, is your razr XT926 though And not XT925 right?
I'm getting both, 9.20.1 and 9.18.79 updates so I could see if I could extract the radios for you give me a min.

Will Nexus S Unlocked bootloader and custom kernel update OTA to ICS when it's out?

My gf got a Nexus S last month and loves it! She just needs BLN to work... so we unlocked the bootloader and installed a custom Kernel (Matr1x I believe). Will the OTA come through? If so, will it wipe out anything like CWR or the unlocked bootloader? I saw Matr1x already released a ver for ICS so it would be an easy install...

How would I go about updating the device? She's pretty excited for ICS.
It will fail the verifying stage of the update. All the original files of the previous version of the update your flashing needs to be there.

So if I restore the Kernel (I'm not sure how I would go about doing that though, can someone provide instructions? ) would it apply the update at that point? Or do I need to re-lock the bootloader? Relocking would be a pain........

If you have a nand backup of stock restore it, Otherwise download one of the stock roms from here and flash it in recovery.

That depends on what kind of update it will be ... The update from 2.3.3 to 2.3.4 on my i9023 nexus was a full rom and could be flashed without a problem.

Go back to latest available stock version. (Rooted with Superuser.apk in /system/app is OK) & Keep your Custom Recovery or reflash it.
Put a Superuser flashable zip on your sdcard.
When you have the OTA update.zip somewhere on your sdcard ( Copied from /cache) boot into custom recovery
Flash update.zip manually and directly after it flashes, flash the Superuser.zip right on top of update.
Wipe /cache
Reboot
Download Joeykrim's flash_image gui from the market.
Place custom-recovery.img on root of sdcard. (Rename it to recovery.img)
Flash custom recovery in flash_image gui
Change permissions of /system/etc/install-recovery.sh & /system/recovery-from-boot.p to "000"
I would just wait till ics is out and then youll find a flashable .zip here on xda and you can just flash that like you did with the matr1x kernel... not shure if full wipe would be nescesary but if yes then you can backup your apps through titanium or sth similar!
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA App
Edit: what i actually wanted to say that theres no need to go back to stock now because you can get the update over xda and just flash that!
while we're on the topic....would editing the build.prop keep an OTA from installing? For example, LCD density??
Why not just wait like one day for someone to post a rooted stock ICS rom? I am sure one of our wonderful devs here will be all over it. It will probably show up in one of those REF threads pretty quickly. Then you don't have to mess around with setting root up again. That's what I always did with my EVO Shift so I'll probably do it with this phone as well.
If you hadn't modified your build.prop or removed system apps, you'll just need to flash the stock kernel. Theres no need to flash the whole stock Rom.
What if your bootloader is unlocked and nothing else. Will it get the OTA?
Question since we on the subject when will ics be released for our phones or is it still unknown as to when is gonna be released?

That's exactly what I was looking for... but where would I find the stock Kernel and can I overwrite it while the system is in use? I downloaded the entire stock ROM for her phone so I should have the file somewhere in one of the IMG files (yes, I have mounted them before in Windows)

What's My Course of Action Here?

Yikes, am I in a predicament.
So, here I am, with my Nexus S I9020A on Koodo in Canada, rooted with TWRP v2.2.0 recovery and stock 4.0.4; well, with all the JellyBean buzz going about I figured, hey, why not, and I made a nandroid backup using TWRP, and copied said backup onto my PC for an extra copy.
Well, after playing around with an AOSP rom of 4.1.1 I want the stock OTA, but restoring the backup I made yields no results, touting "no recovery or img" as an error. So now I have no idea how to get to either stock JellyBean (which is where I want to be) or at least stock 4.0.4 for the I9020A so I can get the OTA.
What do I do?!
Try flashing twrp again. I had this problem on my ns4g awhile ago while running one of the older twrp recoveries. If memory serves, I was able to reflash twrp, reboot recovery, then restore a twrp backup. If it still won't restore, try wiping & flashing a ROM of your choice. You may have to adb fastboot flash...

I'm trying to reflash TWRP and restore again - fingers crossed.
What happened to that list of all official OTA variants for the Nexus S?
I'm referring to that list that had for instance :
Nexus S - I9020A:
2.3.4 - Download link
2.3.6 - Download link
etc, etc.
I just want to get back to stock 4.0.4 so I can get the 4.1.1 OTA :S
Or have any way to get to STOCK 4.1.1 for the I9020A Nexus :S

[Q] Flash Just Modem? [ROGERS/CND]

I'm running a XT925 on Rogers and went through the JB update months ago. Things didn't go smoothly and it looks like my modem didn't get the update. Current info:
Version:
4.1.2
Baseband:
VANQUISH_U_BP_1045.711.53.62P
Build Number:
9.8.2Q-8-XT925_VQL_12.2
Rooted but bootloader is locked
Does anyone know if it is possible to flash just the JB Roger's modem? Or an recommendations on how to wipe and apply the JB update properly?
Thx in advance!
Zimzum
You could flash back to stock JB using RSD or you could download the fastboot files and flash the modem manually using fast boot.exe from the android SDK but with the locked BL you might not be able to only flash the modem

Yes with RSD. But it will wipe your device and you will have to remove the lines that have the "getvar" command in the XML in the zip

[Q] Q phone will not flash, unable to open partitions in recovery

im new to this phone and unlocked and rooted, cwm, problem is it wont flash to partitions inside recovery, nor will it flash is fastboot, says cannot load????
any thoughts would be very helpfull
I don't understand. What are you trying to do? Flash CWM, it fails? Or do you already have CWM and you can't flash a ROM...?
Please explain in detail what you are trying to do, what you have attempted to fix it, and what error messages / info you get back.
Already have cwm after motochopper root method after bootloader unlocked, downloaded slim bean for sprint photon q, booted into recovery wiped partitions and flashed thing is it sticks at the bootanimation, so I waited for a bit after a fresh flash to no avail so I downloaded rds lite and necessary files to flash deleted the 2 lines in yhe xml file, went to flash comes up unknown flashboot command, tried a few times before I tried to flashboot flash twrp, but when I type the command to fasboot flash, error cannot load.img. either recovery or boot

[Q] Upgrading/Downgrading Unlocked MAXX

Just unlocked the bootloader on my MAXX and installed TWRP/Root. I haven't tried upgrading or downgrading versions yet. I'm hoping someone can give me some insight to doing this.
My MAXX is still on 4.2.2(Jellybean) cause I didn't want to risk losing root when my bootloader was locked. Now that that's a non-issue can someone answer these question?
1) Since I'm still on 4.2.2 can I take the 4.4 OTA update even with TWRP installed?
2) If I can't take the update, then I would have to RSD up to 4.4?
3) Once on 4.4 can I go back to 4.2.2 (jellybean)? Seems I've read you can but you can't downgrade the bootloader or a bin file?
I've read differing opinions when it come to this and would like to try 4.4, even though it sounds pretty buggy (email active display, home button double, battery life, etc.) but I'd like to be able to go back if I didn't like it. I've seen a lot of people regretting that they went to KitKat because of these issues.
Thanks,
Mike

1) no, you need to be completely stock with stock recovery
2) RSD is an option
3) you can "downgrade" from 4.4 to 4.2.2 by flashing all the files except the motoboot.img and the gpt.bin. just don't downgrade to the pre-camera update (12.7.7) and then take an OTA because you will hard brick
Thanks for the info!
Mike
I also had a similar question. I unlocked the bootloader and am on 4.4 stock rom. If i want to relock the bootloader and return to stock 4.4 without root can i just rsd lite using the 4.4 fxz? Hoping that brings the recovery to stock as well, in case there are future otas

Yes, a full fxz will restore the stock recovery and unroot you. You can relock just not sure why you would want to plus it will always show that the device as status code 2 which means it has been unlocked at some point
