I was just porting a ROM for the HTC Pico/Explorer. Everything went well as I followed the instructions. Now when it's the time for installing I got the following error in TWRP recovery:
symlink: some symlinks failed
then the Status 7 error and then it showed that the installation failed. I went through many threads and I can guess that the error is related to the updater-script file in META_INF/com/google/android folder.
I have attached the file in "txt" format. If anyone can find the error then please help me with that.

Thanks for the reply but that's definitely not the issue here. the zip size is already lower than internal memory available. Try to judge the error through updater script.

Will try that for sure :good::good::good::good::good:
Unzipped the internal memory must be less than 235 mb for pico ( preferable below 200 ).. Try using an another meta inf and just check if you have all the files of the busy box and binaries .. Just to make sure the symlinks can be done.

You need:
Framework-res
Twframework-res
SystemUI
Where have you found the file?
In the 2.3.6 thread? If yes thats the reason why it isn't working
This one is for 2.3.5

There is no "stock" CWM. Have you installed FeaMod Recovery?
If you have the stock recovery-mode, then its completely ordinary, that it wont work, because this is no CWM.
EDIT: You can find twframework-res.apk under /system/framework/.
ok..
and is it a lot work to install FeadMod??
I thougt it would work becouse i can root mu device with this..
EIT: just tried to flash the zip file, and it says completed.
rebooted my phone, but nothing changed
So... i need feadmod.
I saw a topic about this and it's a little much for me have blicked my phone one time so.... little scared.
i think i just wait for rom manager and that stuff.
Makes everything much easier

+1
you do need a custom CWM.
That's the reason why you get the error
Sent from my GT-I9001 using XDA App
did you use the in-build recovery or the CWM version? The zip file comes from the kitchen doesn't work in the in-build recovery. You have to update the updater-script file
If you go to the recovery and find it shows"Android system recovery <3e>", then it's the in-build recovery
WORKAROUND if flashing doesn't change anything:
1. Reboot into recovery (CWM Recovery!)
2. Manually mount /system and /data from recovery menu ("Mounts and Storages")
3. Flash the UOT file
Can you just flash feadmod with odin as a one package or is there more to do?
I saw somthing as you need to make a backup and stuff?
In the FeaMod thread every of your questions was asked before. Please read a bit in the threads and think about it.

I don't think that will help.
I flash the zip file from UOT on my GF's 9003 in CWM and also aborted.
The CWM is the one comes with CF-ROOT-DXKP9-Ext4-With-Extra-06-11-2011.
Later I update the updater-script and then it works.

Do i need something to do with the script?

For updation of binaries->Just extract any CWM File of Galaxy R at your PC/mobile. It will show 2-3 folders. Go to Meta-info folder->In the end of Folders you will see 2 files. one is Update script & second is Update-binaries. These Wrong update binaries become problem of Status 0.
For flashing CWM 6.0.1.1-> Flash This file using CWM
Just click "Show Content" if you think you are Newbie.

Buddy, I have given then CWM 6.0.1.1. extract the inside files. Just follow the above process ( Copy paste of Update-binary file).
MJ buddy, I think we must create the Status error thread with solution coz its so hard to make understand "HOW TO" for the same.

Mj asked me to flash the CWM zip that u gave me so thats exactly what i did. I flashed the zip via CWM and then tried flashing the other zip files(which had failed earlier) and it didnt work. So to be clear - u want me to extract the zip u provided and replace the binaries in the zips(whose flashing failed) with the one from CWM 6.0.1.1 ? and then compress it into zip format (via winzip or winrar). Am i right ?

Yes buddy, so instead of compressing it, just use Winrar. open both files (i.e. error one & CMW)-> Delete update binaries file from Error one-> extract File (update binaries) from CWM.-> Just Drag & drop using mouse the extracted file to Error Ziped file-> Just press ok whatever Winrar says(it will add it in the file)-> Flash that error file now & report.
@MJ, i think you have made a thread regarding CWM errors..??

Stock ROM yes but i use CWM recovery for all practical purposes. As all zips are given in CWM flashable formats including ones as basic as Superuser.zip . Currently I am on X-perience ROM and im using CWM 6.0.1.1. before which i was using CWM 5.5.x

When the recovery can't correctly open the file, it shows the "bad" error. This indicates a corrupted download. Please re-download and try again.

Try these Gapps. The normal Gapps package doesn't work, as the ROM takes up most of the space in the /system partition, and hence, no space remains for flashing Gapps, due to which you might get the "bad" error.

Make sure the file you're downloading is meant for the SkyRocket. Status 7 usually means that you're trying to flash a ROM from another phone.

I haven't looked at the assert lines in the rom, but it's possible since you have the "r" version the rom isn't letting you flash it. If you're sure the rom is for your device you could delete the assert lines in the updater-script.

I'm not sure exactly why you are having this problem. I have the I727R as well and have no issues. The updater script does have assert lines for I727 and skyrocket. So if you are sure you have a skyrocket then you can just remove those lines and then it will flash.

Thanks for the advice. I extracted the updater-script file to desktop, opened it in notepad++, removed the assert line, saved it back to desktop and added it back to zip file. Still doesn't work. Any suggestions?
btw, I tried editing it directly from zip file by drag and drop to notepad++ first, and that didn't work either. The error message in TWRP was:FAILED, can't open zip file.
