No signal issue with cm10.1 - Samsung Galaxy SL i9003

I just flashed the latest cm10.1 by dhiru on my i9003.Everything works fine except for no signal from my carrier.
I checked my imei and it seems to be intact. What could be the issue. Please help

This is what LoLaTiOn said (original post here):
it may come with the modem LF2
you have this problem on an original Alpha 8 ?
your country ?
your operator SIM ?
check your APN setting
you can also replace your modem.bin in ROOT / radio with root explorer access

Also check your IMEI, fake IMEI (0049XXXXXXXXXXX) might be the problem.

how do i replace radio.bin
I checked my imei with the one behind the battery and it is the same. How do i replace the radio.bin file and where can i download the file from

To get your baseband version of modem.bin, you have first to get your baseband stock rom; for example, if you are from india...DDMF1 is your baseband rom...if you are from china...ZCKPL is your baseband rom...if you are from UAE...JPKPH is your baseband rom...etc
check this link to figure out your baseband rom (type I9003 in the search bar).
Now when you download your baseband rom, your rom archive should contain a I9003XXXX_I9003XXXXX_I9003XXXX_HOME.tar.md5 file or a MODEM_I9003XXXX_REV_XX_CLXXXXXXX.tar.md5 file (for exemple I9003DDMF1_I9003ODDLF2_I9003DDLE1_HOME.tar.md5 or MODEM_I9003DDLE1_REV_00_CL1149304.tar.md5).
Now remove .md5 file extension and open the file with winrar for exemple...you will see your baseband modem.bin file there...just replace it with the modem.bin file in /radio and give it R/W permissions (of curse root access is needed)
don't forget to backup your modem.bin original file.
You can use ES explorer (free).
Hope I helped you

take a backup before to replace radio/modem... trust me you dont want to end up with no IMEI... take a backup and then proceed

Yeah, and don't forget to backup your efs folder...it's more important than any other thing in your phone.

I have try it...but not working...sometimes have a signal and off...emergency call

IMEI Null, have nv_data.bak , not able to overwrite :(

So,
I tried the Galaxy S unlock software from the market, and now I am getting null/null as IMEI and I am not able to use it on any network..
Now, I saw in my sd card, there is a file nv_data.bak , that is around 20mb file...now I am trying to overwrite the one that exits in the efs folder, but its not letting me do it, saying I don't have enough space...
I am not even sure if the nv_data.bak is the actual file, I mean its like 20mb..is it supposed to be this big?
Would really appreciate if someone can tell me how to proceed from here...
I am currently on 2.2.1 Froyo.VUVKD1 kernel and 2.6.32.9 firmware.
Thanks

I've actually had that happen while flashing ROMs before... I crapped myself.
I fixed it by flashing to another ROM then to stock. Not promising a fix, but it worked for me, hell, its worth a shot eh?
Thanks...so should I try and flash back to Stock?

I would, yeah. When It happened to me I was flashing to a GB ROM, so I ended up flashing to another GB ROM and it was the same so I flashed back to 100% stock and it was back to normal. No clue on how or why it happened XD
flashed stock again...still NULL IMEI...I think I should flash one other rom before stock? Can you tell me which one you did?

To be honest with you man I haven't the slightest clue. Mine may have fixed itself by random chance, or the reasons behind the problem are different. I just flashed a few times out of frustration and blind hope XD
Also, can you tell me what is the size of your original nv_data.bin?
I have a backup on sd card, that is like 20mb...and the one in efs folder is like 2 mb.... strange

Im not finding a .bin titled nv_data. I've got an nv.log in my efs folder, thats the closest I see, its 400-some bytes.
It should be in efs\root\afs\settings

do you have an nv_data.bin file in your /efs/ folder? Can you copy and email me the one in your /efs/root/afs/settings/ folder? I think IMEI NULL/NULL is different than the all 0's problem.

Rename nv_data.bak to nv_data.bin
I think you used a bad unlocking program.
Anyway, it created the backup, so rename and push.
But, delete a duplicate from efs if there is one.
also, try adb push, or repartition your phone if nothing works.

re-partition would restore everything back? cause I think the backup is not working..
Try this
I had the same thing happen to me and this is how I solved it.
First check if you have any baseband version in phone settings -> about phone
If not your modem is not starting and this causes the null/null problem because of corrupt nv_data.bin.
1. rename your nv_data.bak to .bin
2. get root explorer and go to the efs/root/afs/settings folder
3. mount r/w if folder is r/o mounted
4. delete nv_data.bin and nv_data.bin.md5
5. copy your nv_data.bin from sdcard to this folder and reboot.
this fixed my screwed IMEI.
To get your unlock code just open the nv_data.bin file in a hex editor and look at adsress 1460 for something like 00 01 00 00 00 the text after this is your network lock code in PLAIN TEXT (if you use HxD free hex editor your code is in the ansi column in the right field) so just enter this to the phone and your phone is now unlocked.

Jelly Bam is one of the most powerful ROM that ever existed for our device (all thanks to LoLaTiOn) and even I am using it till date and have never got this problem but it might not be the same case for everyone..
DAMN for NO BACKUP TAKEN
now lets solve your problem and lets fix your baseband and IMEI,take a deep breath now and copy the files that you see in backup/efs folder to your PC... now there are two possibilities that this might be the corrupt efs folder and it can also be the efs folder that have the correct data of your IMEI.
Once done copying those files to PC.,now copy and replace(if asked) the same folder on your internal storage of your phone... reboot in recovery, wipe data/cache/dalvik and reboot... is your IMEI fixed now???
If its still not fixed then download ODIN V1.85 and flash any stock gingerbread ROM(PDA only).
This should fix your problem and still if its not fixed then download a CM9 based (4.0.4) rom and flash via CWM.(this have more chances of restoring your IMEI).
if you any more doubts then feel free to ask here.
GOODLUCK
Thanks

Anyone using this backup has to remember to change the phone marker folder to the serial number of their own phone or TWRP won't recognize it. When you press restore it'll be completely blank. Once you make the phone marker folder your own phone's serial number, it'll work like a charm with no issues.

Make sure you do a Factory Reset, Wipe Cache, Wipe Dalvik and do the restore again. Should boot fine after that.
This is nice to have. I made a Nandroid of my stock setup but I had already removed a ton of bloatware so it wasn't really a STOCK nandroid. I'm downloading this just so I have it.
But, could you post an MD5 sum of the zipped file that way I know I got a good download? It failed several times before downloading completely and I wanna be sure it's legit.
Thanks

Nobody is gonna yell at you... Lol.
This is a Nandroid backup of the full stock rom that comes on the Verizon M8 out of the box. No modifications made to it at all. It is the exact software you would get on your M8 if you just bought it at the store (minus stock recovery and radios of course) If you don't know what a Nandroid backup is, it's a backup of the software on your device using a custom recovery like TWRP. Say you flashed a custom rom and were having problems with it but didn't have your own backup of the stock software. You could download this and use TWRP to restore it and you would be back to stock again. AOSP is something else. AOSP is Android without Manufacturer skins like Sense (HTC devices), or Touchwiz (Samsung devices), the only devices that come with AOSP installed on them are Nexus devices. Everything else is Android that's slightly modified. Hope this explains it.

Thanks for helping everyone out. I tried to make the instructions as detailed as possible.
Again if the link goes down let me know so I can add a new one.
Making a Pure Stock Rom as we speak. Keeping it close to Stock as possible but with all of the unneeded Files removed (Verizon/Amazon/Keyboard Language/ect..... Adding a small amount of tweaks/files to the system and thats it. I not sure if anyone has use Scotts Roms in the past (CleanRom) But it is going to be like that for each update to come. Should have it up in the next couple of days.

So you download the zip. Open zip it an go find the folder with build keys in the name. You extract that to downloads folder then place the file you just extracted in your normal twrp file path. You still have to rename? If you do it correct there is nothing to rename to match your phone. Not saying your wrong. I just never have had to rename anything when restoring someone backup.

So is there away to use this as an upgrade to the new firmware without destroying all the apps and settings?

N920TUVU3DPG1 Flashable modem?

Hi,
I was wondering if anyone has a flashable modem for N920TUVU3DPG1? I ask because I've not found it on the forums here.
Thanks
I'm guessing you're on the new Note 7 ROM? Are you having issues with data syncing? Can't believe no one has repacked the modem and baseband into a flashable zip. If I knew how, I would.

Do you have the baseband by chance?

I'm guessing you're on the new Note 7 ROM? Are you having issues with data syncing? Can't believe no one has repacked the modem and baseband into a flashable zip. If I knew how, I would.

I was on it. But I went back to Stock for now. I didn't like the constant disconnection between my smartwatch and the phone. The accessibility services kept shutting off which annoyed me enough.
As for the modem, I restored it via TWRP since I'd backed it up along with the stock software but I don't know if the TWRP restore worked cause the accessibility still glitched (someone told me he flashed the modem and it fixed this).
The data syncing wasn't bad if I remember correctly.... Mind specifying?

No notifications that requires data would sync once the app was closed and swiped from recents. Only texts. When I opened the app I would see the new email, FB notification, etc.

Now that I think of it, this happened for me a lot with the messaging app I used. Also, I use Textra as my default messaging app and out of no where, texts stopped coming in so I didn't know until 4pm that someone texted me at 12:30pm. lol...it was crappy.

link is down anyone have a mirror?
Has anyone flashed just the DPG1 modem and not upgraded the baseband? Can you flash just the modem and still function OK?
If so, does this fix the issue with notifications on the T-Mobile Note 7 port?

I flashed just the modem but it doesnt help with notifications. The only ones that still pop up are sms. Me personally im ok with that until we get a new kernel and fully working tmobile rom with wifi calling and volte.

Hello,
I've been looking to accomplish the exact same thing without having to completely install stock firmware. I followed your guide and it worked perfectly. I wanted to say thank you for taking your time to explain the steps. By chance do you have a kernel you would recommend? I am currently running TEKXodus Ultra Hybrid 13.7 with arter97 build 22. Thank you for any help or advice in advance.

Decided to get full firmware. Been trying to download for a week. Can't get the downloads to finish on any computer I use.
