Hi Friends,
Have anybody tried to dual boot android with ios5. It will be great if someone can do this.
While searching came across this
http://code.google.com/p/bootdroid
http://bootdroid.blogspot.in/
Any solutions?
I don't think that's possible.

You can't run iOS as a rom because its closed source. It would be impossible to port because all the libs are different even though its based off linux
IOS is based off of Mac OSX which is based off of *Unix*

so the info on the links is just bull**** ?
BUT: it is possible to have your android phone "transformed" to look like ios with miui rom and iphone theme.
that still doesnt give access to the appstore but its as near as we can get to ios looks
Got none of the required devices I would have tried otherwise :/
i have a desire hd but i dont really think this is legit.. probably just some guy hunting payperclicks
This will never be possible. IPhone and android phones havedifferent processor architecture.

It IS possible to dual boot an iPhone with Android and iOS, the project is called iDroid (idroidproject[.]org) but some of the iPhone jail breakers (like @chronic) are creating a linux-based OS (called Magenta) that replicates iPhone OS 1.0, my source says that it currently runs on ARM7 hardware
Magenta is an implementation of Darwin/BSD on top of the Linux kernel. It is made up of a number of kernel and userland components that work together. It is fully binary compatible with iPhone OS 5.0 (as in, it uses the same binary format).

The final goal is probably recreating the iPhone OS 1.0 stack. I think this is a pretty feasible goal, considering the fact that there are so many open source libs that can be used to replace the proprietary libs used by Apple. Just as an example:
* CoreGraphics -> Cairo
-> FreeType
-> libpng/jpg
* Celestial -> Various open source media decoding libs.
* UIKit -> Chamelleon

More information about Magenta: ht.tp://bit[.]ly/Oo6eV4
Or this for the source code: ht.tp://crna[.]cc/magenta_source.html
The original ios firmware? ? I think its cool, hope they develop for the new ios though. Number one was pretty lame

I think so, they say the aim is to run iOS
The project does not wish to build a platform that can run Apple’s App Store apps; it appears to just aim at running iOS.

As you can see it isn't for running App Store apps, but if it has root access like a rooted android, then you can just put any app on the device..
Like a Cydia app (for the ones who don't know: Cydia is an App Store that you get when you jailbreak your iPhone)
Dual boot iOS and Android. Hm... why not to try Linux instead? iOS is not flexible as Android and what's the point of it? Also we can start porting Windows 8 and other stuff.

iOS 5 is designed to run only on apple's specified hardware design. It is next to impossible to have apple software running on android hardware, but there have been reports of android running on apple hardware. This all involves a lot of lib tweaking, proper execution of binaries, andjust plain coding genius.

Look at post #9 It IS possible if someone tries to get it on an android with a bit porting of the Magenta-project. And yes it is possible to run android on iPhone (post #9 as well) it is called iDroid (as mentioned in post #9)
here is the source code from cronic, who is an apple dev, who is working on porting it for us, http://crna.cc/ , if any dev is wishing to finish it off with his android intel
why doenst just buy an iPhone ?

That is exactly what's said in post 9! Don't people read the whole topic, or do you just post blindly and hope that someone before you didn't post that ?? Sorry for getting off-topic

For those asking "why?", I found this thread because I would like an Android tablet, but I'm worried I'll want the latest app or game and it will be only on iOS for too long before going to Android. I'd like the best of both worlds, someday (perhaps when iDroid is out of alpha).

If you want the best of both worlds, let me give you some suggestions:
Buy a jailbreak-able iPhone (4S or 4 recommended) jailbreak it on iOS 5.1.1 (if that's the current OS) and then with Cydia you can customize your iPhone as much as you want.
Buy both of them (which I have done) and enjoy
But do not expect iDroid to be stable anytime soon, for now..
That was a bit off-topic, sorry, but I hope this helps!
-possible?

Ubuntu? Yes. lOS? You'd have better luck getting Windows 2000 to boot on our phones.

iOS isn't a open source operating system so it is impossible to port to other phones.
possible

well at the xda login screen theyre showing ubuntu running on a galaxy nexus. We have android running on HTC Windows phones.....if you REALLY wanted it I'm sure it can be done, will half of the apps and settings work? No probably not. But anything is possible except stapling water to a tree......Check this out, I promise its not Rick Roll

Ubuntu like Android is based on Linux so that isn't a surprise that it runs on the Nexus. Linux OS have been dual booted on windows computers for a long time so seeing Android dual-booted on Windows phones isn‘t a surprise either. Also those are dual booted not really replacing your android OS. The pic your talking about is a Ubuntu mobile OS so it should actually replace stock android like a custom rom does. I will also add that iOS is closed source software so you risk legal action doing that. The thread you linked to is closed.
Q's go in Q&A
Thread moved
Even before Android was invented Google was working on something new for the market, a new OS for Netbooks witch they called Google Chrome OS. They temorary abanted the develoment of that OS due to there need to step forward in phones market.. now they sucseded and they are going back to finish what they started.. but now with android in there way, they wiil most likely stop Android development and drop copatibity with the new OS (witch is again Linux based).. i came up with this after some googling about the Google Chrome OS.. now is any of this true..?? if yes.. then how do we deal with this "thred"..? (and sorry for my very bad english.. ;P )
No.

Is there plans to bring a BlackBerry section to XDA? Or is anyone even interested? launchers can be used to basically run android on BB10 with the latest leaked software and apk's downloaded and installed directly from apk markets.

Yeah, it would be interesting, but Crackberry has everything BB users need I guess.
I can't help thinking that given the similarities between BB10 OS and Android, no-one has tried deconstructing and porting yet.

Hey everyone. I was thinking about this today.
I personally see the mobile phone/ tablet market going the PC route. you can install any operating system providing its compatable with the CPU and the hardware can run it.
That got me thinking. lets say for a minute Microsoft sold a copy of Windows phone O/S and you flashed it via Odin or some other way.
What would be the limiting factors? is it possible?
Its not only about the CPU, What about everything? you will break many stuff.
it would be a good idea to have windows 8.1 in note 3 if the windows phone os gets updated !
It would be a much better idea to buy a Lumia if you want WP 8.1......
1. Lol
2. Not gonna happen. Ever
3. You can't just install an OS like you would on a PC. Windows is windows, closed source, no device binaries for the hardware.

Dont even want Win8 on my pc, let alone on my phone.
Android is so much better, than all the others. So NO i'll fight this idea, with all my power (but that ain't much). :silly:
If it were a linux distro you were talkin about i'd say yes...
I think by the way samsung drive there TouchWiz android we will be like windows even Google courage people to root and miss with it's s branded phone's and nexus branch getting Ubuntu phone and maybe Firefox os I think In the future we will buy just the hardware and load whatever os you wish like DOS shipped laptop's
And regarding hardware I think even the Nokia lumia don't have hardware like our SGN3 so why not
In the end we will get all open source to drive the tech

Why would you want windows phone? Windows is good as a PC OS, but not as a phone OS.
