Dash 2.0 - your files are just asking for it!

What's a "Dash" , brah? :
Dash is a C#.NET bassed UDP / TCP data transfer framework . Its main use right now is to power the currently available 2 twin wi-fi file transfer apps , DashWin and DashDroid .
Long story short - cross-platform wi-fi file transfer .
Dash is just a buzz-word I've come up with , but it basically defines the framework that's making both DashDroid and DashWin work . Dash consists of a variety of network protocols used together in such a way that it could deliver fast , reliable , cross-platform file transfers .
You will often see the expressions "Dash this file" or "Incoming / Receiving / Sending Dash" instead of "Send this file!" or "Incoming / Receiving / Sending file" , because the app is transferring not only the raw file data itself , but also the file information (such as name , size etc)
A dash is a collection of the file info data as well as the file data itself . This "dash" can be called an incapsulation of the file , that can only be understood and handled by the Dash framework .

What's the price?
The Dash framework is completely free and open-source . However , its implementations on speciffic platforms aren't necessarely the same - it's all up to the developer .
Both DashWin and DashDroid will remain free as long as I will be maintaining & updating them .
What about other platforms ? WP , iOS , Linux , Mac etc
I barely have time to keep the core framework and DashDroid & DashWin updated these days , so I cannot start another full-on project . But hey , the framework is open-source , you can do it yourself! I can't code it myself but I can give as much help as needed to porting enthusiasts .[/B]
OMG THERE ARE LIKE SO MANY BUGS , NOT STABLE ENOUGH , CRASHES ETC , Y U NO FIX THEM ?
Please bear with me . I've started this as a summer vacation project , but I am still a high-school student , and this year's schedule prooved to be one of the most hectic ones I've had in my entire life . I've barely got like 12h a week max to work on it . Development is going REALLY slow , yet I have SO MANY ideas I want to set in motion right now , but unfortunately I can't . That's another reason why I've opensourced it . If anyone wants to help me work on it , feel free to let me know! You can at least report the bugs you come across in this thread . But if you're just complaining and waiting for candy to fall from the sky , bad luck . I'm not getting paid in any way to do this , nor do I even ask for it right now . It's just a thing I want to do , but the pace I'm working at might not be so pleasant to everyone .

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Q : DashWin keeps crashing when starting or when I choose "Dash this!" , or if I choose "Dash this" the popup doesn't appear! What should I do ?
A : Make sure the exe is set to run as administrator . Right click on the shortcut - Properties - Advanced / Compatibility tab - check "Run as Administrator" - OK .
Or just disable User Account Control (UAC) , that's probably the reason this is happening .
Q : The "Dash this!" option appears twice in my Windows right-click context menu - how to fix it ?
A : Download and run this . Or use the "Disable context menu option" feature from DashWin 1.2.1 or lower .
Q : DashDroid is frozen / won't open anymore / I can't seem to get rid of some stuck notification from it .
A : Force-close it .
Q : I would like to translate DashDroid into another language that is / is not on your list , can I ?
A : Sure , PM me and let me know .

Translations are currently suspended . There are more important things I have to take care of at the momment .
Ignore everything that's written below , for now .

@ everyone :
I am looking for people who can help me translate DashDroid into different languages .
Those who are interested must both speak one of these languages at an advanced level , and also have basic Computer Science knowledge (so that you have a better interpretation of the stuff you'll be translating) .
I will be providing the XML with all the values needed to be translated . You just have to re-write the translation . No programming skills are needed .

I am looking not for one-time translations , but for translation maintainers .
A translation maintainer's job is to keep his / her translation up to date after every new app update that might require changes . You will be automatically notified via e-mail when your help is needed . Only the first translation from scratch will take time though , the updates will only consist of few new lines and / or tweaks that can be dealt with in roughly 5-10 minutes , as the app isn't really all that text-heavy .
You are free to leave your maintainer post anytime , but please let me know . Also , if you present no activity for 72h after the last update , you will be demoted . You will still remain in the credits in either cases though , in the "Past Translators" section .
There will be no payment for this . I am not looking to hire anyone , as it's not something very hard to do , considering there are only about 50 lines tops to be translated (right now anyway) . You WILL be , however , mentioned in the credits in the Play Store app description & this XDA thread .
If you think you can help out with this , please let me know by posting here or via PM .
Huge thanks to everyone who helped / helps / will help me with the translations!
Keep awesome .

I'll look into it . If it was a PC -> Device transfer , it was most likely a DashWin bug .
This week I'm concentrating on fixing and updating DashWin , since DashDroid right now is pretty stable .
I'm also planning to implement an auto-update function so that you won't have to go to my Dropbox and manually download the new version every time

Actually , it's on a JB hTC running a Sense 4 ROM . I will update the screenshots when I'll release the next version .

Correct . That explains the screenshots in the How-To if that's what you were reffering to . I'll be updating them as well .

downloading now...will surely test and report..

Nice App
Its really cool app. Can you add authentication like AirDroid

I will be adding device naming functionality instead of showing the IP . After that , I might add something like a white / black list .
As far as security is concerned for the momment , however , just make sure "Auto-Approve" is unchecked and you will be asked every time before saving any dash .
// Actually , now that I think about it , password-protecting clients seems to be an awesome idea! Totally on my to-do list!

DashDroid BETA - your files are just asking for it!
♦ DESCRIPTION :
DashDroid is a quick and easy-to-use solution to wirelessly transfer files between your Android and Windows devices . It uses an innovative network data transfer framework exclusively designed to make the app fast and reliable .
So what's a "Dash" ?
The Dash framework is the perfect tool to have your files transferred over-the-air from PC to Android , Android to PC , Android to Android or PC to PC , as long as you have a Wi-Fi connection available .
♦ HOW TO USE :
By opening DashDroid from your app drawer , you will be welcomed by the main screen . To be able to receive files from other devices , make sure "Run as client" is switched on .
To customize the way DashDroid works , tap on the Menu icon in the top right and choose "Settings" .
To automatically allow all incoming file transfers without first asking permission , make shure "Auto-approve all dashes" is checked .
If you want to manually choose where the files will be saved each time , check "Always ask where to save." , but if you want all files to be saved automatically to the same directory , leave it unchecked and make sure you setup a "Preset path" by tapping on the respective setting .
To overwrite incoming files that already exist with the same filename in the selected directory , check "Overwrite existing files" . If this isn't checked , DashDroid will make sure both files will be kept .
After you've configured DashDroid the way you like it , you can dash files to your device from any other device running dash . You will be automatically notified about new incoming transfers .
To send files to other devices , just go to any file manager that has a "Share file" function and choose "Dash this!" from the app list . Then just pick a target IP and DashDroid will do all the rest . You can even select and send multiple files at once!
♦ FEATURES :
☺Quick and easy to use
☺Supports any file type , not just media files
☺Multi file transfer
☺Compatible both with Android and Windows (currently only Windows 7 has been fully tested and reported as working)
☺Customizable dash handling experience - choose how you want the app to react to incoming transfers bassed on your needs
☺Built-in file system explorer
☺Data loss-free framework - you won't loose a single byte!
☺Constantly updated , the way the community likes it!
☻BETA LIMITS - will be removed after the app is released :
*BETA : You can only send and receive files smaller than 20MB
*BETA : Only single-file dashes available
^ - BOTH LIMITS REMOVED SINCE 1.2
♦ DASHWIN - DASH FOR WINDOWS
There's of course a Windows client available , with the same features as DashDroid . It's called DashWin and can be found on my website , speciffically here :
http://www.officialuizz.co.nf/dashwin.html
Both DashDroid and DashWin will be updated simmultaneously when there are changes in the Dash framework . Thus , they will both have the latest features at the same time . However , version-speciffic updates might occour , fixing OS-speciffic issuses , GUI design etc .
♦ CURRENT AND FUTURE PLANS :
☺Find out and kill every single bug that pops up . You tell me what's wrong - I'll fix it
☺No size limit - 50% done - it can be expanded up to 2GB right now , but I'm first interested in the app being fully stable - Size limit expanded to 2GB since 1.2!
☺Multi file / entire folder dashes - it will be done , but same as above . - Multi-transfer implemented since 1.2!
☺Improved GUI - I'm doing it as I'm also developing , but when the app will be stable enough , I'm going to dedicate a lot of time solely for the GUI - Switched to Holo theme since 1.1 - this should be enough for the momment . It will pe updated with future features are implemented .
☺Wi-Fi Direct alternative module (exclusive for DashDroid , working on it)
☺Community suggestions - What do YOU want the app to do ? Please let me know!
IS THE APP GOING TO BE PAID WHEN DONE !?
☺I'm not going to lie , it WILL have a paid version when it will be fully stable , BUT there will also be a FREE version available , most likely ad-supported and with some little limitations on top of it . Right now I'm interested in things to work , and depending on the feedback and interest people have in the app , I will decide what the future of the app is going to be .
UPDATE : The app will NOT have both a free and a paid version , however it will have in-app purchases and / or will be add supported .
The app will be completely free for a while .
There will be NO limitations to things such as the number of files that you will be able to send , or to the size limit .
WHAT ABOUT OTHER PLATFORMS !? WP , IOS , LINUX , MAC ETC
-WP : I would really like to do this . The only problem right now is that registering as a WP developer costs 99$ , and before recklessly jumping in , I would like to know if people are truly interested .
-iPhone : Not really interested . Maybe if I run out of things to do and an iPhone + App Store license fall from the sky .
-Linux : When I will be getting a new PC (hopefully until the end of the summer) I will be looking into this . I'm an all-Windows geek right now , but I'm really looking forward to exploring the depths of Linux .
-Mac : Most probably , no .
-Others : idk , have I missed anything important ? You won't be seeing Dash-powered apps on Bada / Tizen / Meego / Asha etc , that's for sure!
If and when I am thinking of porting it to a new OS , I will let you know .
♦ FOUND BUGS ? I'VE GOT THE SPRAY!
As you can see , both DashWin and DashDroid are in Beta right now . That means they are NOT fully stable and some things might make them crash or might cause errors to pop up . But unfortunately , as the one who developed this , my brain is kinda locked on the way the app SHOULD BE used , so I might not be able to find some bugs that an ordinary user would encounter . That's where you guys come in . If you find any bug , just drop a post in this thread explaining what the problem was and trying to explain as best you can what were the circumstances and what might have caused it . I'll look into it and fix it . The problem is not a matter of not being able to , but rather a matter of figuring out all the possible bugs .
I already have a small list that I will be taking care off , but I'm sure I've missed some quite important stuff as I always do , so if you happen to run into any trouble with either DashDroid or DashWin , please let me know immediately !

Because I won't be getting a Mac anytime soon , and I also have no idea how Mac OSX behaves . Maybe in the future , if Dash will proove to be worthy , but right now I have no plans for it . Maybe I'll collab with some Mac developers though , who knows .

THANK YOU SO MUCH DEV. THIS IS THE MOST EPIC APP ON ALL OF XDA FOR ME. BECAUSE OF YOU MY LIFE IS COMPLETE. I HOPE YOU CONTINUE TO DEVELOP THIS
Sorry couldn't not write it in caps
OP you're just awesome

Is it the same as Airdroid? What's the different?

AirDroid is more like an interface to manage your device from the PC . DashDroid is only for remote file transfer .
In simple terms , it's like Bluetooth file transfer between your phone and your PC , but via your Wi-Fi connection

Descriptions:
1. This is a "little clean" ROM for HTC Universal.
2. Free RAM is about 24MB with PIMs loaded (25-26MB without PIMs loaded), amount of free RAM will varry depends on how much PIMs (contacts, messages, softwares, etc.).
3. Free main storage is about 35MB.
4. ROM contains only standard packages from microsoft and some additional tool/software, so I think screenshot is not necessary.
If you need additional applications, please install it by your self.
5. This ROM is XPR compressed & I applied a file system filter taken from Raphael into this ROM (the function is similar to harddrive write cache on your windows PC), which has advantages & disadvantages (considering that it was intended for Raphael).
This only affect main storage. So if suddenly the device stops responding (hang up), the data that will remain is only the data saved after device entering the last suspend mode.
This means the new data will be written after the device entering suspend mode.
If you want to manual softreset your device, make sure to enter suspend mode for about 15sec & turn it on again before you do a softreset.
6. This ROM has been tested for about two weeks on a 64MB G3 & G4 device.
ADDED:
- Office 2010 with OneNote => Only on Release_v2 ROM..
- Macromedia Flash Player 4 plugin
- .NETCF 3.5
- TwCen font
- Some ringtone from Tomal's kitchen
- Advanced Configuration Tool v3.3
- Arcsoft MMS 5.0.27.63R1
- Battery percentage
- BT BPP 1.6.8.0
- BT FTP 1.2.33281.91
- BT SAP 3.1.0.0R2
- hc4_inbox
- HomeScreen++ (without clock)
- Added some DLL package from Diamond, Elfin, Mega, & Raphael
- SD Settings
- Performance applet
- PPC PIM Backup
- Oxios Hibernate
- PocketRAR
- RegEdit
- SmileySMS
- SRSWOW HD
REMOVED:
- Autoupdate
- Catalog
- Entertainment
- FirmWare Update (replaced with a dummy)
- RemoteDesktopMobile
- SampleMusic
- Software Quality Metrics (replaced with a dummy)
- Transcriber
- VoIP
- WelcomeCenter
- WindowsLive
- WindowsLive IM
*Known problems/limitations:
- Power point & Share point isn't work..
- The Auto kill process feature on HTC Task Manager default threshold is set to 9MB, could be annoying for some people.. To disable or re-adjusting threshold, open the Advanced Config utility then enter the desired threshold (or disabled it) under HTC Task Manager menu.
- If you experience problems with this new build eg. GSM stop responding (it's not totally hang up, but something like no signal, or you have a good signal reception but you can't make a call/sms neither connect to inet) please do some experiment on changing your radio ROM until you find the version that can work flawlessly with this OS build. Because both of my device has a problem of this, one of it can only work with 1.09 radio and the other one can only work with 1.17 radio.
*Additional info:
- If you aren't use the kitchen and you wanna change the PP, simply convert the "NK.NBF" file into "NK.NB" file via 'HTC64', then use 'PPCH' to program the desired PP, then convert it back to "NK.NBF" file via 'HTC64'.
- If you are using the kitchen, simply change the value of "PP" into your desired size.
- When building ROM using this kitchen, don't forget to check "Real WM6.5 AKU" option, & change "IMGSTART" value from '0' to '350000' under "OTHER" tab..!
- Just ignore whatever error messages that 'HTC64' gave you...
- WPA encryption is now supported.. See post #46 for details...
Instruction for flashing:
1. Make sure that your device is CID unlocked.
2. Fully charge your device by using AC adaptor.
3. Run "ROMUpgradeUt.exe"
4. DO NOT do a hardreset after flashing.
5. DO NOT do anything with your device while it's booting until you see Welcome screen (in fact, don't touch your device at all).
6. After calibrating the screen, now you can do anything.

Tutorial on using Ervius Visual Kitchen with HTC Universal...
Tutorial how to use the kitchen
Using this kitchen is quite easy (although may be a little bit confusing at first try).
OK, don't have time to talk nonsense. Here we go....
Start the kitchen by double klicking the exe file.
Next you have to do is activating all options in the drop down box:
1. DEVICE
2. LANGUAGE
3. EXT Build
4. SYS Build
5. XIP Build
6. ROM Res
7. ROM DPI
8. Real WM6.5 AKU
9. Other
After clicking on "OTHER" button, change the "IMGSTART" value from '0' to '350000'.
Then if you wish, you can change Pagepool size by changing value on "PP" (default is 6MB).
Next, click "CLOSE" to go back to main screen.
If you wanna enable/disable package included from building process, simply double click on package that you wish to include/exclude from ROM..
Click "CREATE" button.
Wait,,wait,,& wait... Just be patience OK!
When the kitchen is finished creating "OS-New.NB" file, the HTC64 window will popup.
Click "ENCODE" button.
Select project file (nk.prj) to open. => It's located under "%path%\EVK_182\TOOLS" folder.
Next, a warning message window will popup.
Just IGNORE that warning message by clicking on the "OK" button..!
Don't worry, it wouldn't harm your device (if you have the right ingredient on XIP part.. Otherwise, you guess it..)..
Next, click "Encode".
If there're no somethings wrong, a message window saying "Encode Successful" will popup.
Click "OK", then click "EXIT" button.
Well done, you've just created your own custom ROM..
Next, close the kitchen and start flashing your device...
OK, time to sleep now.... Good night..

Always nice to have another ROM to test

@ phezthie
Let us know more about this ROM!
Cool!!!
test on g3, thanks!
its definitely working with G3. fast n stable too wit spb ms. one problem encountered thou, wifi asking for predetermined number of key and cant connect with pre-configured wireless router...
Ya you're right, & thank you very much. But unfortunately I don't have enough spare time to find solution for that. I don't even have time for continuing make EVK to work with universal. Too much office work lately, & less sleep time too.
Perhaps I'll upload the kitchen (based on Luca's kitchen), so everybody can build his own style ROM, & hopefully will find solution for that. How about that?
Sounds good, please let us know any advance on your work
I regret there is not flash disk
OK,,kitchen attached...
Check out 1st post for download link, and 2nd post for tutorial using this kitchen...
@teddybear3k: Yes,,there is NO flashdisk. Because I don't like it..
Great!!! Thanks!!!!
I'm trying to cook a 23518 build and i've a question...
you say that 6.5 nk is in the kitchen... can i select modules instead of files selecting SYS packages to the compilation?
3 days test, feedback
with kitchen uploaded (wit big thnks to Shadow of course) i think more chefs will be forthcoming making this feedback moot nonetheless, for those who want to know, here it goes....
overall performance, commendable.... no freeze/hang experienced. fast and stable though a bit lesser ram (11-7Mb) compared to other light/vanilla roms available.
tested with add'l apps installed:
spb ms 3.5
ezmoney
fingerkeyboard2 (w/o arrows)
pbar
PIM's status:
581 contacts; 2397 appointments; 189 call logs & 2698 messages (i keep it available for ready reference )
on the otherhand, some minor glitch observed...:
wifi key as earlier reported - solution? i reconfigured my router
battery status (both on pbar indicator and system setting) indicates low but changes after a second or 2..
wit smiley sms enabled, it will cause not to open other messages..
cheers..

Can`t download it.
Ok... here's my report.
I'm using T-Mobile MDA PRO.
1. Boot up are fast.
2. Running apps. are fast too (big 'page pool' ?)
3. Never happen to hang up.
4. Error when try to manually change the Band from GSM to WCDMA, I have to use apps . call 'BandSwitch' to force it so it can switch the Network Band from GSM to WCDMA or opposite.
5. The Sim Tool Kit Service are work too (first I thought it can't, but then when I change the SIM Card, it works, and then I realize that my main card are not supporting this Operator Service ).
6. I never try WiFi, so I can't tell anything about it.
7. I like the Home Screen ++ (more like 'Battery Status' ?), but why do you remove the Clock?
So far this is the best ROM I ever used, think I'll keep using it.
So, keep up the good work, Juragan !
Ok, that's all..

1. What for? It's already configured to auto mode. So the device can be automatically switch beetwen GSM & UMTS.
2. Because I don't like a clock filling my desktop..
And thanks for your report..

Not the Auto switching, coz I prefer to do it manually (which is to set my Network Band to WCDMA always, WCDMA is most faster in download rate than GSM - apalagi gw pake Matrix yg cepek/month pelan banget dahhh... ).
And I try it manually in the Phone Setting menu, then it says 'Unable to switch...' so I decide to using 'BandSwitch' apps.
Added new build of WM6.1 (build 21057)...
Added the new build of WM6.1 (build 21057)..
Overall,,fells better than the 21056 build..
Tested for about two weeks on two G4 device only,,because I don't have any G3 device..
*change log from my old ROM (21056):
- PP changed to 6MB
- Small adjustment on XIP part to get it work with this new build
- Something I can't remember (I love to forgot something)
*Known problems/limitations:
- WiFi can only work with Open/Shared/WEP (64 & 128bit) encryptions only, no support for WPA/WPA2 encryption
- If you are using the kitchen, before convertion process from "OS-NEW.NB" into "NK.NBF" via 'HTC64' tool, simply cancel the convertion and use 'PPCH' to change the PP and convert it to 'NK.NBF' file.
- When building ROM using this kitchen, don't forget to check "Real WM6.5 AKU" option, & change "IMGSTART" value from '0' to '350000' under "OTHER" tab..!
- Just ignore whatever error messages that 'HTC64' gave you...
Please go to #1 post for download address..
Thanks..

would love to try this out, please help if possible!
It already is an .apk file... please just rename it to apk and then install it (apk is nothing else then a standard zip-file with a different ending...)!
Some Browsers (especially Internet Explorer) are doing crazy things when you download files...
PS: Thx for your feedback in advance
PPS: 0.3.6 is online - New Feature: EPG-Search (via menu or hardware-button).

Does this allow remote streaming from a dreambox? That would be awesome
Oh,
hi, dreamDroid can be found on the market for quite some time now.
As there actually is no Streaming-Client capable of playing MPEG-TS... no sorry, it doesn't. But as soon as there is a possibility i will implment streaming!
Can you do like this, i see that is possibile

First of all thank you for this great app!
I have two minor remarks:
1: I can't stream recordings. I have read this problem is caused by a problem in vPlayer. Is this correct?
2: If a stream over 3G/H with a VPN connection it takes some time to load the stream and when the stream is playing you see a lot of squares. Is it possible to change a setting to fix this?
any plan on future version to support Enigma 1 as well?

Correct, vPlayer has some problems with blanks and special charcaters like the german umlauts (äöüß...).
On Way to solve this is to change the filename-scheme for recordings on your box (future recordings should work than) to anything else than the default value.

3G is just not made for streaming high-data-rate videocontent... i don't know anything u could do to solve that (besides the fact that every data-plan i know would be used up within minutes or at most several hours of streaming).

Well, originally dreamDroid was designed in a way that allowed adding support other protocols pretty easily.
While at some point there would be some more work to do than just a "simple protocol implementation" it would still be possible to do so.
But there's some other issues:
1. I do not have any enigma1-based STB anymore
2. I do neither have the time nor the motivation to implement a second protocol
3. Until now no one else felt up to implement enigma1 support
dreamDroid is an open source project and everyone is welcome to join it, as long as he's sticking to some rules and conventions . Just contact me.

It's called "Timers" .
That part will get a major overhaul with the next version (released in about 6-8h).
You can see a screenshot of the new timerlist here:http://reichholf.net/files/dreambox/dreamdroid/timer_list.png

It's good job. Now stream function working. It's little bit laggy but it's okay. Maybe you can improve the performance with next releases.
Best E2 tools in market, thank you, well done.
Great app but unfortunately when trying to stream a channel via vPlayer, the stream closes after 1 second. Any ideas what could be causing this?

Wow, this app is absolutely amazing.
Works very well here.
I've tested streaming only via WiFi. Sometimes it loses the stream.
Please do not try to stream any HD Channel. I think, this wont work.
Thanks to the dev.
One Bug:
sometimes my timer.xml is away after make a new timer.
I think, it's because Ä,ö, ü or something like this.
Hi
Great app except cannot install vplayer to my htc wildfire. Is there any alternative?
I presume it is because of Froyo on my htc?
Thanks

Hello xda-developers,
I would like to present you my app ShareDownloader.
ShareDownloader is a new Android app, which combines the various 1-click-hosters in one app. Share Downloader offers among other things, like file-, download- and upload-manager. Further accountinformation can be requested over the app, suchas points, credit, traffic etc. Share Downloader can also decrypt and process DLC - Container. The download manager will resume the downloads after a connection crash automatically or waits as long as WLAN is not available. Of course you can process usual HTTP-downloads with ShareDownloader.

PS: Feel free to post your feedback
This app needs more attention!
With that out of the way:
a) Where does the app save the account data? Could other apps read them?
b) Is there any chance of getting a glance at the code of the app?
c) Do you create user statistics? If so, please add an option to opt out
d) Are there other ways of buying you guys a beer, besides PayPal? A donation app (1$+googles%)? Many people like bitcoins, too
e) I: How about a sharing function, so we can sync the already downloaded files with e.g. JDownloader, so they don't get downloaded twice? (Local wifi network)
e) II: While we're at it: Pushing links/containers from the PC (Linux, Windows) to the device (via wifi/ethernet) would be an awesome feature, too, for all those people with an Ouya (and other such devices) :fingers-crossed:
f) Do you plan on implementing features like router reconnect, (password protected) archive extraction (and options like auto deleting the archives to save space)?
At the moment I am very pleased with the app. It uploaded my nandroid backups correctly and downloaded them correctly again. Pausing and resuming downloads works perfectly. Big files, small files, everything works just fine. :good: The only problem I have: not enough space.
This app is another reason why I need expandable memory on my devices!
Cheers!

Hello IRKONIK,
a) the app save information in internal memory of the phone, in secured section. No other app can access it, except it have root access e.g. Titanium Backup. Still access the information is not enough, because the app have to know where and how information is saved.
You also can save your account information on your SD card (export) so it could be easier to import information later if you have multiple accounts. There is an option to encrypt the data with custom password you enter.
Your account information won't be sent to any servers except your hoster for authentification. So i would say your data is pretty save.
b) Since we invested much time and effort to create the app, we won't release source code of the app.
c) We don't create user statistics, for us privacy is very important. If we build in such stuff one day, we surely will create option to deactivate it.
d) At the moment there is just paypal. In future there might be another options, but not at the moment.
e) Well sharing it with jDownloader could be pretty hard, since we could need jDownloader plugin for this.
We plan to build Chrome/Firefox add on later, which will make it easier to send links directly to the phone over LAN. But it will take some time.
f) We already checked posibility to implement automatical router reconnect, but it would be to much work, since there are tons of routers and we couldn't be able to support them. So we decided not to implement such feature.
Archive extraction is for sure on our to do list, but since it is pretty complicated area (e.g. some formats require license etc.) it will take some time. Once this feature is implemented app will be able to delete extracted archive files.
We are happy to hear, that you like the app and we open for feedback or any new ideas. We consider every idea and every feedback.

Hello Nighteagle82,
seems like it is a bug. Is it possible that you send me the links and password via PN? So we can try to reproduce the bug and try to fix it.
Also please send me information about your phone (Model, version of Android etc.)
Also can it be, that you are trying to extract it to external SD card and you have Android 4.4.x? If yes, that could be the problem.
Wow,, that was a very quick reply. I will send you the links with PN. Sometimes he found the pw automatically, i type it iin the pw list. It is allways the same pw. I try it with my Tronsmart A928 witch Android 4.2x and with my Tronsmart S89-H with 4.4x.
Hello,
Really like your app, can you add support for remotes? I can't start the download without a mouse on my fire tv or ouya.
And why can't I download to my nas, I typed smb://192.168.0.12 but it can't connect ?
And can you implement the feature that you can open dlc files from Dropbox ?
Thank you
Hi,
Do you think it is possible to add pyload Server Support? It would be very easy to manage downloads trough this app. Maybe you could add a switch to select where the downloads will be downloaded. Like “local“ and “pyload server“

Desktop Store
(didn't habe the brains to come up with a nice name like "Subvert", if you have something good in mind, tell me, but I still would be glad to merge with toxickills project, even if it's only for the cool name )
Screenshots
Program Download Links:
RT Desktop Store Installer
Features
50 apps packaged
install/uninstall packages
all items on the startpage get shuffled
tile creation
start apps directly from the store
Todo
sometimes uninstalled packages are still displayed as installed (restarting the store currently fixes this)
tile management (delete, check for already existant tile)
add store tile to the start screen
add screenshots to existing packages
pack the remaining packages
distributed repositories
package/installation updates
and much more - if you have ideas, tell me
How can you help?
If you would like to help me with the packages until I release the package manager: send me screenshots from the packaged applications available in the store, as this is hard for me to do (I don't even use every application myself).
Here are some criteria for screenshots I would like you to check before sending them to me:
make the size exactly 1366x768 or 683x384, so that they don't scale bad in the screenshots control
If the app can't run fullscreen or maximized window, its always nice to have the pc property window in the background showing the Windows RT logo text
you can also make only screenshots from the application window itself and place them on a canvas complying to point 1., maybe applying a nice dropshadow
don't edit the screenshots in any other way, let them look natural
and if you can: screenshot them in a productive/properly used scenario, that's always the best to see
Mail adress should be viewable in my profile, just sent it there, or if you have mailbox space issues, sent me a link to the screenshot(s), Thanks!

Pretext
Hey guys, so i have been sitting some hours and tried to take up what djboo (thread) had no time to continue on.
I've build a little RT Desktop Store based on his idea on getting a repository to present packages and let you download them via a custom store client.
If you are confused: No this is not the store called "Subvert" build by Toxickill, which he posted on this thread.
So what's the reason for this "duplicate" ? Well i wrote my own store during the same time Toxickill did, but when i released my first screenshots, i saw he had released his first beta only a few hours earlier. We used the same UI Framework it seems, so our applications even look similar. I wrote him asking what to do, if we could work together, etc. because it would be dumb not to use our resources together, to make this work for you even better. But since he hasn't been answering my PM and I don't have the permission to post in his development thread as of yet, I thought i could at least release what i have build so far, let you review it and maybe even Toxickill will notice me And if not? Well i don't mind doing this alone since I already spent all this time doing it this way, and im so glad of being able to give back something to the community (This is my first ever publicly released application!). If you like my store (or don't like it), please comment so that I can make it better
And while I'm on the road, i can as well earn my 10+ posts, so that i can post in the development threads
If you are interested in working together: i have setup a TFS on my server which we can use for working on this project.
Ok now for the application.
Concept
Basically, it's the same concept djboo originally pointed out: have a repository with packages, let a store client download, unpack and install them. So far so good.
I've gone a bit further and tried to make the client look & feel like the normal windows store app (still a lot to be done, but it really looks alike).
The current repository is hosted on my server. While i have plans to release my the package creator too, i will first release the client, because the package creator is not that, erm, user friendly right now. In fact i have, because of my store client design, divided packaging and the repository, because the basic packages that can be build contain more that what is needed to simply install the application. After building a package you can add it to a repository (using a repository manager) which then will unwrap all that is only needed for the store client presentation of the package (tile images, screenshots, etc.) and present the rest of the package as downloadable file for the store client.
If you want to see it, here is a screenshot from my package builder application that I will release once all the applications available have been packaged and added to my repository (thinking of a simple package creation service that spawns new guids, so that ppl creating packages for the same application will get the same application guid to prevent presentation of duplicate entries by the store client)
Installation & Files
First and foremost: you need to jailbreak your device (Windows 8.0 only, hopefully 8.1 will follow soon)
To install the store client, simply download and run this Installer from my server.
The store client will get installed under your Program Files folder, creating a new Folder named "RT Desktop Store". Installation consists of 2 steps:
The Installer downloads and then and runs the launcher for the store client
The Launcher downloads the latest store client files and starts the RT Desktop store (this will happen every time you start the store client)
Packages that you install from the store will not be installed under your Program Files folder, but a Folder called "Program Files (RTDS)" (same parent directory as your Program Files folder). This is for not confusing the packages installed from the store with any existing applications in your Program Files folder. Uninstallers for all all installed packages will be held in the "__storepackages" folder of your RT Desktop Store installation directory (like C:\Program Files\RT Desktop Store\__storepackages).
If you install an app, the store client will also create a Tile on your start screen, using the command line interface of OblyTile - if a tile is supported by the package. If no tile is specified by the package, the application will start after installation, so that you can at least pin it directly to your task bar. Unfortunately, programmatic removal of tiles via OblyTile is not possible as of yet, so you would need to unpin them yourself. The same goes for checking of already existing tiles. The same tile will just get created a gain. But the will most likely be pointing to the same file, so just delete all but one of the tiles.
Shortcuts
As long as i dont release a proper installer that creates shortcuts, start menu entries and/or a live tile, you will have to pin the store client yourself. I recommend you to create a shortcut to "RTDStore.exe", not "RTDStore.Launcher.exe", because the launcher application may get renamed during an update process. That aside, it doesn't matter if you run the launcher or the store client directly, the launcher will be called either way to check for updates.
Packages
I have yet to package every application that has been ported already, but i got roughly 1/3 of them already packaged (they may not all include screenshots, tiles etc, but that will follow this week, along with the remaining ported apps i think.
Finally
Have fun and i hope everything works well. If you experience any errors, please comment here or sent me a PM, so that i can fix them and let the new versions get pushed to you by my launcher as soon as possible

NICE WORK BRO!!!
Question) after installing an app though your store, could we specify the desktop-shortcut-Icon in your package Manager? (Im asking this because some of my Projects use a cmd file to start the app, and the Icon is pretty boring)[subvert has NOT this Feature]
Cheers
Blade
EDIT:
Just tested it. it Looks AWESOME
Notes:
-No Settings available (how to add own repo-URLs?)
-We Need your Package-Manager
Improvements:
-small visual bugs while going through. Perhaps you can include a "wait-till-loaded"-function, this will solve all visual bugs and make it all soo much smoother
-Possible to add "touch-scrolling"? that would be soo cool, if we dont Need to use the scrollbar at the bottom and are able to also scroll via dragging in the middle...just like the real store
(also the scrolling brings visual bugs while moving. Bug disappear on stopping...)
I think this has got a HUGE potential! Please Keep it up the good work.

Hi Blade! (Cheers from Cologne)
If I understand you correctly, you use some kind of launcher for some of your programs, which in turn starts your program (i guess you mean something like ClassicStartMenu, where you need to restart the explorer after launching the start menu, because otherwise it won't show up in the taskbar). And because of this, you pin, of course, your launcher to the desktop instead of the program that's getting started - makes sense. In my package manager you can specify a list of applications that are included in the package and, as of now, a small and normal sized tile for OblyTile to generate the start screen tile for each application. I guess i could extend this to support desktop shortcuts, but would have to look into the windows shortcut file format (.lnk) - which I had planned anyway, because I need more control over the created tiles than simply creating them, and they're essentially .lnk files, too. Currently you can put a launcher in the package and run it via the tile that will get created for it - I will show you how that works once I've released the package manager.

As I've written in my todo-list above, distributed repositories are yet to come, I just have to find a way to make the packages unique - maybe by providing a packaging service for the package manager, that spawns a GUID for a given application name, so that the same package doesn't get listed twice in the store. But that in turn would create a new problem: how do you decide from where to get a package? As there is no real server behind an application that could work as some kind of load balancer. I would display a message from which hosting the package is being retrieved upon installation, but rather not show them as separate repositories in the store. But I think it would be reasonable to give the user the opportunity to select from which repository to get the package if he wants to install it - if a package is broken, or not available on the repository automatically selected by the store.
But furthermore, what about a package where someone includes a nice launcher and someone else doesn't? Need to think about it.
Today I will try to get over with packaging most of the remaining apps. After that's done, I will take up getting the package manager ready to release accompanied by a distributed repository mechanism, as those two go hand in hand.

Yeah I did most of it with the new async-feature of C#, for the smaller installations that works perfectly, but larger ones make the application hang - that was to be expected because async just executes on the GUI thread too, just does lazy evaluation. I already moved a part of the installation to background threads, but will move the whole thing. And the last few days were just dirty hacking, so i don't have a centralized installation overview as of yet, that's why the installation messages start bugging once you switch to another app page.

I daresay that's an issue with the not-so-lightning-fast ARM processor, as this runs perfectly fine on my desktop pc. Surely GDI+ related, but i guess there is something that can be done for some smooth animation.

For the repos:
Adding a Settings-tab with a list of repos, where only your repo is listened, but where users can add/delete custom repos.
For the "not duplicated" and the "from whom" problem:
Custom-repos could get their own tab like:
[Available(perhaps rename it to "Main") | Custom1 | Custom2 | Installed | Settings]
And Custom-Titles could been set in settings to make it look like:
[Main Apps | Blade's Apps | xda-Apps | Installed | Settings]
Totally off topic:
On the 12.12 I write an important exam in the uni. But after that I would like to meet you for a coffee, if you want. Since we both live in cologne, perhaps we can share some ideas or/and learn something from each other. I would love to help you with your store, and perhaps i got some cool stuff for you:
(ps3-hacking, Android-app-development, Micro-controller-programming, home-automation, and many many more....)
Your idea for the different repositories is quite nice, I will implement this soon, as it will be quite easy I think. But for the long run I will still be looking for a more integrated solution.
Offtopic too:
Sure why not! Just PM me the details of the approximate when and where and we'll go for it You can also write your PM in german

You didnt do the jailbreak then. the jailbreak works on RT 8.0 only, it does not function on 8.1 and the lumia 2520 comes pre loaded with 8.1.

Just as SixSixSevenSeven mentioned: if you didn't downgrade your lumia to Windows 8.0 (don't know if it's possible), it won't work. Maybe you ran the jailbreak, but it failed for sure. If not, this would be breaking news for Myriachan and the others xD
Short update:
I'm currently working an a packaging modification. I'll package the apps directly as .appx files using the windows store package builder shipped with visual studio. Toxickill told me, that despite this, the Original Windows store won't install the packages directly, so I'll be building an appx installer afterwards. And if we ever get the Windows Store to install our custom .appx packages without a custom installer, we will already have the correct package format Furthermore, the windows store package format is quite convenient regarding structure of package information and files. And in any case better than me trying to reinvent the package-format-wheel.
For the store client/repositoriy, the packages will be wrapped with additionaly info (images and other stuff, and I'm modifying my package builder to be a combination of the visual studio built-in package manifest editor and the devcenter web page for publishing windows store apps (some of you may know what I'm talking about, the others will just get to see the new package builder in a few days^^). This way, ppl can create packages of ported apps, without needing their own repository to publish it, but send it to someone hosting a package repository, who can simple import the package, which then gets unwrapped and put into the repository, presenting it's information to the store client.
In my opinion, microsoft has done some nice work, streamlining the app creation and publishing process for the windows store. And by trying to comply to their application, packaging, redistribution standards, I hope we may be able to get something out of them regarding jailbreak and such, making them see, that, if correctly managed, desktop apps are not lowering the user experience on windows rt at all, but are an enrichment instead

I can't install this app on surface rt 8.1 jailbreak.
when I want to run this app it sez "this app can't run on your pc to find apps on this pc, open the windows store."
and then I tried to open it using the x86 emulator and then the notepad opened. at the last line it seas :

(I don't known if this in the emulator error or D.stores error.

Anyway, I did get the installer to launch after signing the file using the 'signtool', however it looks like the dependencies aren't available (probably dead server). Stuck at 'Downloading Launcher' ... 0/0B
Windows 8.1 Jailbroke.
Happily, the 2017 community edition of Visual Studio still let's us compile apps as 'Any CPU', so at least I can still build stuff.

Hi, thanks for your interest, I'm huge xda{news} fan (everyday congrats), and was referring to
-GSFid https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-fix-device-not-certified-by-google-error/ , this app throws a json on screen with finger touch copy/select/share; so users can copy it, also if Firefox is installed ( Fennec or Klar), on Lollipop and up, the share button to Firefox will straight open Google re-certification page (1st link in json).
-Widevine real level : https://www.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-poco-f1-widevine-l1-netflix-hd/ (and others Oneplus5...) thanks to Kaltura prim-origin, the app tests all possible drm inclusions.
-cpu soc64 without arm64 support: (thx to @mattwhite7102) some low cost oem provide devices with arm64 cpu without arch64 support https://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=77789093&postcount=859
EDIT v2
-Treble detection https://www.xda-developers.com/project-treble-android-oreo/
-A/B seamless update https://www.xda-developers.com/how-to-check-android-device-supports-seamless-updates/
I will do my best to get this app auto-built by F-Droid, thus before buying a low cost device (example Treble project), buyers can ask sellers to process it, and send them this json by email. ( ? same for each new xda forum's device heading ?).
Finally, every (closed source) app with <internet> permission can leak this data to the net: it just visualizes this.
In that same purpose I'm also on releasing an upgrade of ApplicationsInfo with multiple additions, and without <internet> or other "excessive" permission : https://bitbucket.org/oF2pks/android-applications-info/downloads/ . (but untested on new Pie Update Inactive Apps screen to show buckets )
Awesome I will add this to my apk stash!

Very nice app. Useful to gather inventory info from Android devices (similar to my Android port of system-report).
I just wonder why important data didn't make it into the resulting JSON? (namely `df`, `meminfo` etc.)
If the reason is privacy then a separate file could be created with `private` word in the filename...

Android10 finalized RC8 should be on F-Droid next checkupdates|build|deploy, unfortunately I couldn't find any Pixel4 user for testing latest Q modern changes like getPhysicalCameraIds or getKeysNeedingPermission. (but thanks to @seh6183 for multi-screen testing on LG G8X ThinQ).
The primary goal of this DeviceInfo app is to help purchasing devices by asking seller to send json to buyer (or run it directly in shops for powered-on devices when connected to wifi... or via bluetooth), and to provide straight full anonymous reports for rom developers (especially for project Treble); without any misses concerning deep defined characteristics (exception to Bluetooth version identification which even doesn't really exist in android (?)).
I use the alt button for private (or wip functionalities) or interactive dynamics data that could change in the lifetime of the device. Sometimes these also failed on alternative roms custom implementation.

Was lucky to test a Pixel4 and indeed 1.3.1-7 & 1.3.1-8 crash , but 1.3.1-6 ok; unfortunately I was not able to get an adb log. @cqibhfkx , can you push a logcat of the crash sequence (if any ?) on latest uploaded RC9 debug post#1 ?

Sorry but doesn't gpl part spoil the whole project to gpl? Need to check the GPL text

The headings in sources are normally sufficient ("fair goal") to identify distinct licenses & author from the global one. Check example : https://github.com/linkedin/qark/blob/master/LICENSE ; I will add missing LICENSE.md in sub projects :
- gplv3 for BinderProtocol ( @hackintosh5 )
- Apache2.0 for xml decryption (webView providers extraction) ( https://github.com/MajeurAndroid/An...ter/app/src/main/java/com/majeur/xmlapkparser)
Original app came without any license : https://github.com/kaltura/kaltura-device-info-android , that is why I choose "fair" Unlicense

I just wonder why important data didn't make it into the resulting JSON? (namely `df`, `meminfo` etc.)
If the reason is privacy then a separate file could be created with `private` word in the filename...

All these can be copied to clipboard via longPress + selection and paste anywhere.
Will also change app/Launcher name KalturaDeviceInfo to kDI (related to ˈkadē: caddy, help purchasing devices by asking seller to send json to buyer, or run it directly in shops for powered-on devices when connected to wifi... or via bluetooth... )

It's not enough. You're violating GPL by statically linking it. Read the licenses

So, what else should I do; I already added:
-gpl license to re-distributed [cpp] from your repo: https://bitbucket.org/oF2pks/kaltur...d1a3b7cd0d8f6d4a7fac/app/src/main/cpp/LICENSE
- boarded reference to your work (check attached screenshot/end) : https://bitbucket.org/oF2pks/kaltur.../app/src/main/res/values/strings.xml#lines-31
with, of course, your original headers in the code:
- https://bitbucket.org/oF2pks/kaltur...c/app/src/main/cpp/BinderDetector.cpp#lines-7
There are 17 chapters in gpl license (Version 3, 29 June 2007), which one should I read carefully ? (https://www.gnu.org/licenses/license-list.html#Unlicense)

Thanks for the link.
Did you read carefully the 2nd answer pounded 7 (just after 1st answer pounded 33, as today...): the third section of 2nd answer clearly disambiguates when licenses are GNU-compatible by liking to the same GNU reference ( that I did put in my previous post) ; check header there: GPLv3 is compatible with many licenses including [Unlicense] (and [Apache2.0]).
Code:
[URL="https://www.gnu.org/licenses/license-list.html#Unlicense"]Both public domain works and the lax license provided by the [U]Unlicense[/U] are [B][I]compatible[/I][/B] with the [U]GNU GPL[/U].[/URL]
As you link in your code to GPLv3, GNU/Licenses starts expressly with :
Code:
[URL="https://www.gnu.org/licenses/licenses.html"]To make it free software, you need to release it under a free software license.
We normally use the GNU General Public License (GNU GPL), specifying version 3 or any later version,
[B] but occasionally we use other free software licenses.[U] We use only licenses that are compatible with the GNU GPL for GNU software[/U][/B].[/URL]
Please, let me know if you have a different approach of GNU GPL license (Version 3, 29 June 2007) compatibility.
New Release (v2.0-20) lightweight ~350kb

The primary goal of this DeviceInfo app is to help purchasing devices by asking seller to send json to buyer (or run it directly in shops for powered-on devices when connected to wifi... or via bluetooth), and to provide straight full anonymous reports for rom developers (especially for project Treble); without any misses concerning deep defined characteristics (exception to Bluetooth version identification which even doesn't really exist in android (?)).

In that purpose, kDI is now ultra lightweight (~350kb) to help fast download (or Bluetooth transfer) in shops.
Also embedded are permissionsInfos (Chairlock) and applicationsInfos. Both of them will individually switch to heavyweight AppCompat/androidX/androidTV upgrade (+2.5Mb), but I will maintain lightweight library flavored editions in kDI: https://bitbucket.org/oF2pks/kaltura-device-info-android/commits/
