I mean the function when you press and hold and it cuts a portion of the screen. I can't find a way to turn it off, it's really annoying when using other apps.

+1
This really sucks in apps like Papyrus because you can't have the eraser tool on the button.

I'm still for a widget to turn the screen off once the icon is tapped. this is handy as i do not have to move my hand all the way up to the power button. I'm thinking to develop my own app on this if the API has this option.

Is there anyway to have it so the button back light times out if the Burton's aren't pressed or something like That? It is very distracting while watching Netflix or reading an ebook.

An app called Screen Filter from the Market allows you to turn off the buttons. I run this app right before I launch the Kindle app.
I have a Note N8013 and the only use for the S-Pen that I know of is hold it down and it'll take a screen shot. Can someone please let me know if there are other uses for the button besides that?
In the app quill, you press the button and then you can delete something you wrote.
that's pretty cool.. I never really check out that app yet. Need to go install it and check it out.
Also if u tap the home screen twice it brings the s note. Another one is tap the screen on the right and slide it left on the browser and goes back to an earlier page. Prety sure that it has more functions.

Cool! Thanks for that tip! Always find it funny why such functionalities are kept non disclosed. But it's fun to discover them like. Almost like small bits of treasures.
the whole GALAXY to NOTE about...counting down from 10 to 1.
Thanks all for the tips. II'm surprised there isn't a thread giving us all functions of the S Pen considering it's a the selling point of this tablet
Here you go...
Back: While pressing the S Pen button, drag the S Pen to the left to return to the previous screen.
Menu: While pressing the S Pen button, drag the S Pen down to open a list of options available on the current screen.
Screen capture: While pressing the S Pen button, tap and hold the screen to capture a screenshot.
After capturing a screenshot, you can draw on it, write on it, or crop it.
Quick note: While pressing the S Pen button, double-tap the screen to launch the Quick note function

I have noticed since yesterday's Jelly Bean update (4.1.1) that if you have an app open (say a browser for example) and you let your screen timeout, when you press the home button it will turn the screen on screen up and take you back to your home screen. Used to with ICS it would just turn the screen on and you could continue in the app. Now it takes you all the way back home and you have to re-open the app to continue in it.
I was wondering if everyone is getting this same result or if it is just me.
Thanks!
I just tried it with Google Now and it returned to the app. I tried the Android browser and it returned the app as well. You might want to power down, pull the battery, then restart. Updates can sometimes act a little wonky at first. Occasionally (and unfortunately) a hard reset can FINALLY make an update work correctly.
Fixed this issue on my phone. The solution for me was to set up S-Voice, then go into it's settings and check the 'open via home key' option. After this, pressing the home key once simply wakes up the screen instead of also taking it to the home screen. Hope it works for you too!

Yea, that fixed it. I don't like S-Voice so I had that option turned off. Apparently it works different with this update then it did with ICS.
I've actually went in there and enabled that option then went into Application Management and disabled S-Voice. Now, if I accidently double tap my home button it just goes to a black screen for a second then back to the home screen. (Better than opening up S-Voice)
Thanks for your help!
I've found if you use a pattern password the home button "feature", to go back home works like how it used to

Nice find! Now my dilemma is, whether the added "lag" when single tapping the home button is not as annoying as being taken to the home screen when pressing the home button after the screen times out. Having the double tap for S-Voice setting disabled speeds up that home button responsiveness.

I find the lag to be to annoying when s-voice is enabled. A fast press of the power button will wake up the phone without closing the app you are using and you can keep s-voice turned off.

grr, I couldnt agree more. I turned off that feature to reduce home button lag in ICS, now it closes any app open. Hopefully theres a fix
We'll find out. I dislike these small, unnecessary changes that Samsung has implemented. Horizontal pinch to expand notifications is another unnecessary change on VRBLK3.

That has been removed. The menu button will appear only if necessary and needed by the app itself. If you don't seem to find the menu button, it might be embedded in the app itself. The menu button on the navigation bar will appear at the left-most corner. A 3 horizontal line with a small triangle.
So it seems like..it has already been removed..and also the screen grab shortcut aswell hmmm anyways thanks for the input though

Any idea how to flip the multitask and back buttons ? Isn't it weird that the back button is now on the right ? Why would Samsung do that ?
My menu button on GT-6210 hardly ever shows up no matter which app I'm using & it's totally random when it decides to show back up (using stock honeycomb.) I got so annoyed by not having it when I needed it so I bought an app called called button survivor from the market. I think it needs root permission but now I can use that to open the menu whenever I need it.

So did they remove quick launch options in the display settings removed on jellybean?
Settings/display/quick launch
I don't have jellybean so I can't check but if they they removed the quick launch option & removed the screenshot shortcut that is very disappointing and makes no sense at all.
