[APP][Testing] Area Calc - Android Apps and Games

Hello guys!
I'm pretty new to this forum, and I'm also new to developing apps. I'm only 13. I've been learning Java, and I've been learning Android development.
I've been messing around with layouts and supporting multiple screen sizes as I have no clue how to support different screen densities and sizes but I'm learning how, currently I have to create all the layouts for all screen sizes.
It is a complete app, even though it's pretty useless to some but helpful to others, I've developed and published this simple app to get an understanding on the concepts and ideas of programming in Android.
This app just calculates the area of a shape, soon I'll probably be adding calculating the volume, etc. But developing this app has helped me learn how to gather user input, deal with it and then output the modified information.
I'm kindly asking you to download my app and check it out, I would've put this in the beta testing area but I'm really just asking you guys to check if the app works fine on a range of devices. I currently don't own a variety of different Android devices so I can't test the app out, and the emulator isn't always reliable, nor is relative layout.
-
So if you guys could please test the app out and give some feedback (possibly on usage, functionality and layout/formatting) that would be great!

Thank you everyone! I know this app probably won't even help you, but if you guys could please give some feedback I'd appreciate it a lot!

You're doing good - I like the look and it works perfectly on my HTC One (1080x1920). Both the layout and functionality are great.
Keep it up - you might have a development career ahead of you

Thanks.

Wow, thank you so much. It means a lot to me, the app is probably useless for you, but I guess it's aimed at a younger target audience.
There are a few additions I need to make to improve the answers given when you try to calculate the area (scientific notations -> double -> result).
It's a big deal to me, especially because of your high status. You've made my day, .
Enjoy the app if it's any use to you.
Thanks a lot .

I like it. The color scheme could be better, but it's a great app. Thanks for keeping it educational.

I thought it was pretty attractive, a variety of bright colours look awesome. I mean it's going to be used for children.
Of course you won't use the app, but I'm still learning how to develop apps so thanks for downloading.

Hi! Nice app you've got here. It looks pretty nice on my Sony Acro S. The main screen looks a little different, so I've attached a screenshot. It's not messed up, just a little different.
Great start!

Hiya
Thanks a lot for testing it and giving feedback, someone else noticed this and I'll be fixing, it's not too messed up.
I'm guessing the layout also looks a little weird inside each activity.

[GAME] RunMan

Hey guys, let me know what you think about this game. Any suggestions or ideas are welcomed. This is my first game I made for Android. I'm not a graphics designer by any stretch so the graphics and animation looks kinda bland. But please give it a go and tell me what you think.
Thanks!

I like it. It reminds me of skifree. Night mode is pretty cool. Works well on my HTC Aria. Lol I think I saw Ikuzo xD
Thanks! The next update will make the game more engaging, I promise.

Thanks for the support guys, it really means a lot. The next RunMan update has just been released. I'm hoping with this update it'll make the game a lot more engaging. Let me know if i broke anything
Added a new scoring and bonus system, so 30k+ scores won't be uncommon.
Looking to integrate with Facebook and adding achievements next.
Holaaaa. Just downloaded the game:
It's actually pretty fun once you get used to it. It's a GREAT time waster, and night mode ftw.
Keep up the good work, you're gonna go far, kid.
Hey there!
Downloaded and installed your game as you can see mine is a Kaiser and an Android port so I cannot do the shake thingie for getting the dog off me or instruct it to fetch me something.
Had LOTS of fun with it! As I was telling a friend, a simple but very entertaining concept, also addictive.
I know my limitations in hardware but would it be too much to request some hardware buttons for those less fortunate who can't shake?
Thanks for the encouraging words GoCkillaz, I'll be doubling my efforts for the next release.
WarByte: Absolutely. It never occurred to me that some phones didn't have tilt sensors, so this is great info. I'll look into some gesture recognition to play the game solely by touchscreen (changeable in settings or something). Thanks for the valuable info
One thing if anyone could tell me is how the game runs on 1st generation phones it would be greatly appreciated, I know it's almost unplayable on the G1 because of poor framerates... thinking out making it Android 2.1 and above only.

Woohoo! thanks man! This is a really great game. Well I have a second request before you start making changes and some feedback:
I'm on 1.6 and due to something silly that I did I will never be able to use 2.1 and above and though I understand your reasons I'd say my old Kaiser with a ported Android would be less than a G1 however it runs amazingly well, no frame drops at all, fluid, no sound glitches. I have no idea how many Kaiser users install Android and drop Winmo but as I see thousands of views in those threads I am pretty sure we would all be more than happy to be able to run your game, it is just amazing. So basically my request would be to stay on 1.6 if possible. Interestingly enough I thought of getting a G1 and stop using my Kaiser as I wanted a "real" Android phone.
By the way, I can always test and report. Anything that I can help with please count on me.

[REQ] Looking for a android developer to realise my concept.

So, I'm a graphic designer by trade and while working on expanding my portfolio, I started thinking about an app concept. Slowly I worked out the concept for a honeycomb app, this included UI, functions, visual identity, uses, targeted user base. The main idea was to create an app that was both visually appealing and useful since most android apps around frankly look like ****.
Now what I'm looking for is a dev to translate this concept into an actual app since I'm a lowly designer and my programming experience doesn't go beyond jQuery. Now for all I care the dev interested can sell it or distribute it for free, all I want is credit for the design and initial concept.
Now because of this I'm not going to just post the idea for the app here since I put a lot of time and effort into it, but any dev willing to help can PM me and I'll give detailed information. I must tell you that it is a relatively simple app.
Also to prove I am not just talking out of my ass,
here's the logo design:

}
and here is a screenshot of a part of the app:
I must note again that I'm not looking for profit or money, just credit.
EDIT: please fix the title.

I have gotten 2 responses, and it's a productivity app aimed at people who enjoy drawing.
And no it is not a drawing app.

sadface bump ):
that logo looks like a electrostatic tablet pen for drawing. I'm guessing you're trying to make a tablet driver for Honeycomb?
Or, probably you're tying to make a simulated pressure sensitive drawing application with one thumb on that slider on the side controlling brush size.

From the Logo, I thought it was smoking related... like smoking a big ole reefer or something.
In all seriousness, if I may critique the logo. The colors are working great as red black and white always seem to harmonize nicely.
What I think could work better is if you got rid of some of that negative... actually empty space around the stylus. In other words, crop in closer to the actual tool. It will put much more emphasis on your focal point, the pen.
Also fix the sinuous lines coming off the tip. Right now, it looks as if you're tyring to illustrate smoke.
I think those are the only issues that I personally see. Good luck and keep us posted~

You need your own ROM to make it work. Got a calculator already? Pull the ROM and load it into Graph89. Don't have one? The ROM is located on THEIR website. Here.

Very nice and welcome app.
For an alfa it works quite well in my SGS2 although the size of the calculator is a bit small.
The developer is aware of that and it should be solved on next releases.
The rom can be downloaded directly from the ti site:

It's like that for everyone I'm pretty sure. Hopefully screen space can be better used.
Do we use the titanium(v3.10) or just regular (v2.09) version?
so this will not work for the ti-84 right?
nvm i completely missed the point lol
Been using this for a few weeks now on my touchpad.
Friend of mine wants to use it in her tutoring job. She says that in actual use it is very slow. Is there any chance that there will be upcoming speed and performance improvements?
Sent from my HP Touchpad.
Awesome
I had the emulator on my old MDA like 4-5 years ago, and my teacher flipped out back then. I just graduated this summer so I won't be using it everyday but i already downloaded and gota dust off my TI to get the rom files, this brings back so many memories. awesome
this is the best news I got today. Been using Andy's 86 an making due (rarely carry my calculator into the field) Was hoping someone would make an emmy for the 89. btw, if not mentioned, the Titanium Rom appears to work. I haven't tried all of it out, of course, but the basic stuff does fine. Some thing's I'd change, the UI - the letters are a bit hard to read in purple. And the haptic feedback, I'd like to be able to turn off.
Been looking for someone to do this from a while works great, get more use out of my Elocity A7.
Great work
Would this app be capable of running assembly games? I know there are a million better games to play right from the android market, but just for the nostalgia of it all, I would love to load up some assembly games onto the calc emulator.
Anyone tried this?
The screen area on the Galaxy Nexus is really small, but the other UI components are normal sized. I'm guessing this is a resolution issue?
Really nice app, ima give it a shot.
Thanks for sharing!
It works great on my Kindle Fire running CM9. As others have said, it's not the best use of screen space - on my phone it's hardly usable, but on the Fire it's a big enough screen to be very nice, just like the real thing.
I was waiting for this since I own my Nexus S. Thank you so much for doing this.
Do you think it would be possible, to make this emu Voyage200 capable? It is the same hardware like the 89 but with a bigger screen and especially more keys.
This is a great work! But the resolution is very small on my Desire HD.
Great! It would be nice if it fills all the screen.
wow this is a nice app. no need to bring calc anymore
This is not my app. XD I am just posting this so people know its out there.

[APP][2.2+][Free] Starfield Live Wallpaper

Hi,
for the last couple of months I've been spending my weekends developing a retro-style starfield-themed wallpaper. Now it's finished and I'd appreciate if you could take a few minutes to check it out. It is free, does not contain ads of any kind and it does not require any permissions.

No, I tried that during development and it wasn't very spectacular. But if the interest is big enough (decent amount of dowloads) I would like to add other 3D shapes like stars, spheres, pyramids etc, maybe an option to load your own custom 3D objects.

You guys sure like your Windows 95 Well, if the app is downloaded by a reasonable amount of people and I know I am not doing the work in vain, I will do a poll or so to let the communitiy decide what the next feature should be.
Sorry to bump this again, but I'm noticing that quite a few spanish-speaking people are downloading the application. I'd be really happy if a native spanish-speaker could take the time to translate the preferences menu. The whole text is about one screen page. I attached the strings.xml file below, so you can have a look. I will mention you by name or by alias in the google app store, if you like.
P.S.: You don't have to translate words like "Starfield Live Wallpaper", of course
Edit: other languages are welcome too!

Not too sure about the colour scheme though. White background and a material design would make it a lot better.

Hi,
Thanks for giving it a try and for your feedback.
Actually the color scheme is dynamic, it will change according to how much you used your phone (from green, yellow to red).
But I could easily add an option to disable the colored background! Will bear that in mind for future updates.
Cheers

Thanks for the feedback. Now you can keep track of which are the games you spend more time on!
And I think it's pretty interesting when after some time you can have a look of how much time you spent in those games, I remember reaching 2 our 3 days of active gameplay within a couple of months!
