Micromax Bling 3 now available for Rs 9,599 - General Topics

Micromax Bling 3 A86 comes with a 4 inch display, Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system, and 1 GHz dual core processor
Micromax used to sell Swarovski encrusted phones under its Bling series long ago, and now it has launched a new handset under the series, called as Micromax Bling 3 A86. This time it is a smartphone based on Android 4.1 operating system and is priced at Rs 9,599.
The new Micromax Bling 3 comes with moderate features such as 1 GHz dual core processor, 4 inch display, and a 1600 mAh battery. The Bling 3 comes with a 5 megapixels rear camera with flash and a 0.3 megapixels front camera.
The Bling 3 A86 also features 3G, Bluetooth v3.0, WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, USB 2.0 and Gravity Sensor. However specification is not the highlight of the phone; it has crystals as the home button while the back panel is designed to appeal to women customers.
However we feel that the phone is a bit too overpriced, as phones with similar specification sell for as little as Rs 6,000. Also even if we consider the design aspects, we feel Rs 9,599 is a bit too steep. The phone is currently available on Snapdeal.

If this is a Mi500 then chances are it has a MediaTek, not Snapdragon like X6/Mi410/clone, CPU. There is another thread in XDA about it. Hope you guys could confirm this. Would however be cool to get the official ICS version. Anyone figured a download link?

Better go for karbonn a18 or a24. Better specs and support. micromax sucks when it comes to support.

Right on the money mmaacc. Just a thread that caters to indians shouldn't be there. There might be other places where such things could be discussed.
Is Micromax A90 a single core device?
A price tag of 13k for a single core device is a waste of money (even if it has Super AMOLED display and an 8MP camera) when we are getting Micromax A100 for 10k and it is a dual core.

?!?!?
I am getting conflicting information from all places...
Micromax website says both are Single Core
However i have also read Micromax officials confirming a100 will come to market with dual core!
;
Igyaan.in has posted hardware reviews for both phones......
A90 is Mediatek single core with PowerVR gpu
A100 is qualcomm single core with adreno 200 gpu
Guess we will have to wait and watch.....With Karbonn a24 dual core and Spice Mi500 dual core right round the corner in same price range . Micromax will put their foot to axe with Single core devices...lets hope latter of above rumors are TRUE!
Perhaps you guys should ask the company to come out with the specs, as well as the software release.

Its a single core device
Even Spice MI 500 is going to be a single core Phone if it ever comes out, Just wait and watch
Unfortunately! yes even Micromax A100 is single core

Yeah....I came to know about its Qualcomm MSM7627A chipset today (from Igyaan Review)
Its the same 1GHz CPU as that of Karbonn A9 and Spice Mi-425. (However the benchmark results are worse than A9 and Mi-425). Probably because of more screen resolution FWVGA (854x480)...
A9 and Mi-425 have WVGA (800x480). So the load on adreno 200 GPU might be marginally less compared to that on Micromax A100.
Its so sad to have expected something and to get something less.
I was about to buy this device....But.apparently I might have to wait for some more time for Karbonn A18 or A21 or A24... :crying:

It is so sad that we have to wait till somebody buys the device and runs hardware tests to determine that the specifications are. It is pathetic on Micromax's part that they are unable to reveal the full specifications without ambiguity. I have never encountered such contradicting specifications and ambiguity upon a release of a phone.
C'mon guys all these devices are not built in india. You guys want the companies to deliver goods as per your own specifications. Its not xiaomi per say, they have to get the device manufactured from oem outside india and whence upon imported to india paying the regular customs duty of more than 30% if i know about it. At the price point how many potential buyers would want to make themselves aware of the specs of the device. Consider asking to a local dealer a question such as what gpu does it have and see how accurate an answer you get. The company probably does not even have the technical expertise to fine tune their specifications on a perticular device. If the company claims officially that a particular device will be dual core then probably they are at a fault by not making it to be, but still at this price i don't think that they can give us a qualcomm dual core unless theay manufacture almost everything within india. Its quite possbile for them to provide mediatek dual core probably but even that would take it to more then Rs 12000 i think.
There is no problem if they cannot provide but the only thing people saying or expecting here is they should not advertise so then...
Well....
All in all comparing these 2 to our mi410...i dont see a value for upgrade....
Same Ram, Similar Processor..
Summary .
A90 : 4.3 inch Amoled Screen however Proccy letdown, 8mpx Camera Let down No HD Video Recording!, RAM Letdown 350 MB user available
A100: 5 inch LCD screen, However Proccy letdown, RAM Letdown 350 MB user available, Only 480p poor recording on Camera....
The Only Positive is a working ICS with a possible upgrade to Jelly Bean which also not sure how good will be with 350 MB RAM.
Looking at above..with all custom ROM and kernals our MI410 is giving much better performance atleast on GB....
I am waiting for Spice mi500 and Karbonn A24 (Hoping what we hear is what we get in hardware specification)
Guys you should check out Alcatel OT995 being sold by Reliance Group at Reliance Digital Stores under the name ReConnect
Sold at 13900/ +/- 100 bucks. Good specs. Lots of interest generated in XDA though it does not have own thread as yet. Already rooted and CWM support on. WIP AOSP / CM9 floating around fr it.

Karbonn S1 Titanium vs Micromax A116 Canvas HD

For those who are looking for performance oriented handsets at affordable price points, below is a spec comparison of Karbonn S1 Titanium and Micromax A116 Canvas HD. Read the comparison below and decide, which new quad core market entrant is worth buying.
Display: S1 Titanium boasts a 4.5 inch qHD multi-touch capacitive touchscreen display with a resolution of 960 x 540 pixels, whereas, Canvas HD packs a larger 5 inch HD IPS capacitive touchscreen display with 1280 x 720 pixel resolution.
Processor: Both the handsets come equipped with a 1.2GHz quad core processor under their hood. The quad core chips mainly offer up to 50% greater performance than dual core processors, better multi-tasking, increased efficiency and reduced average system power consumption.
Operating System: Again, both the devices head against each other with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system that comes with features including Project Butter for more responsiveness and smoother navigation, improved Android notifications, live wallpaper support and more.
Camera: In this segment, A116 Canvas HD scores more with an 8MP rear camera and VGA front camera as compared to the 5MP rear camera and VGA front camera in S1 Titanium.
Storage: Both the handsets come with 4GB internal storage and a micro SD card slot supporting up to 32GB additional storage.
Connectivity: When it comes to data connectivity, S1 Titanium and Canvas HD come packed with features including Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, 3G and micro USB 2.0.
Battery: While Canvas HD is powered by a 2.100 mAh battery of undisclosed backup, S1 Titanium is loaded with a 1,600 mAh battery claimed to deliver up to 4 hours talk time.
Price: Micromax A116 Canvas HD is estimated to be priced at Rs 15,000 and Karbonn S1 Titanium is priced at Rs 12,999.
Verdict
Both the Karbonn and Micromax offerings come with similarities in the processor and operating system fronts, however, falling into different categories, these devices are quite different from each other.
When it comes to S1 Titanium, the handset comes with a lesser price tag as compared to the Micromax offering.
On the other hand, A116 Canvas HD comes with a larger display being a phablet and improved battery spec alongside better camera.
I don't know why this comparison exists in the first place. I just went through the review of Micromax Canvas HD and it seems to be a better device in all aspects. It is definitely better than Carbon S1 Titanium.
See the detailed review here: http://micromaxfan.com/micromax-canvas-hd-a116-review/
Canvas HD
Micromax Canvas HD is better one compared to Karbonn as it has more support on xda :highfive:
Micromax is good coz of better gpu n hd resolution n obviously better support on xda....
Sent from my Micromax A116 using xda app-developers app
Awesome support on XDA!
I have a A116 and I would say no use in comparing it with S1 as the specs are way better on the A116 and the support as mentioned is too good here. MegaStarkHD V3 ROM rocks :good:

[Discussion] UMI x2 V/S Micromax Canvas A116 HD

Micromax Canvas A116 HD V/S UMI x2
Micromax was having a dream run with its Canvas series smartphone. While Canvas II A110 - the second phone in the Canvas series - put the limelight on Micromax, the Canvas HD A116 was a blockbuster even before its release in India. Micromax Canvas HD A116 was sold out within hours of its launch, making it perhaps the only smartphone in India to sell out so fast. Even the Canvas A110 was sold out from the market and is still being ordered. Canvas A110's price also soared from Rs 9,000 to Rs 11,500 as demand rose significantly. But amid all this brouhaha, UMI, a Chinese handset vendor, launched a phone that has such high end features that it could even put smartphones priced at Rs 35,000 to shame.
The phone in discussion is the UMI X2, which is priced at Rs 14,000 only. The UMI X2 comes with a 5 inch high definition display, quad core processor, 2 GB RAM, 13 megapixel rear camera, 3 megapixel front camera, 2500 mAh battery and a lot more. But the question is whether you should go for the Micromax Canvas HD or the UMI X2 as both are priced equally. We have already reviewed the Canvas HD so we are in a good position to talk about its performance, and we expect to review the UMI X2 soon. Here is a simple comparison of features of both the handsets that will help you choose the right phone for yourself.
Body
Micromax Canvas HD A116 is a really slim phone-elegant to be precise. It has a shiny yet non-slippery body. Unlike other budget smartphones, Canvas HD has a good build and does not feel cheap. Of course, it isn't the slimmest 5 inch smartphone; nor the lightest at 10.7 mm thickness and weighing 156 grams. On the other hand, UMI X2, which too has a 5 inch display, is just 8.9 mm thick and weighs 155 grams. In the pictures, UMI X2 looks good with a metallic strip around its sides. However, it is difficult to say about the exact nature of its build quality as of now.
Display
The UMI X2 comes with a 5 inch display. However, the UMI X2 has 1920 x 1080 pixel resolution compared to the 1280 x 720 pixel resolution of the Micromax smartphone. Of course, the pixel density is more on the UMI X2 and pictures look sharper and clearer on it. To be specific, UMI X2 has 441 ppi display resolution, which is a lot better than Apple iPhone 5's 326 ppi density and Samsung Galaxy SIII's 306 ppi pixel density. On the other hand, Micromax Canvas HD has 294 ppi pixel density. Both the phones have IPS panels, but UMI X2 scores over the Micromax Canvas HD as it has a Gorilla Glass 2 display which provides some sort of protection to the screen from scratches.
Camera
Micromax Canvas HD comes with an 8 megapixel rear camera with dual LED flash and auto focus. There is a 2 megapixel camera in the front. The cameras are theoretically able to capture high definition images and videos but as we have pointed out in our review as well, Canvas HD is like most other budget smartphones when it comes to the camera. In fact, we found a bug in the smartphone that prevents the camera app from opening. UMI X2, on the other hand, looks exciting with its 13 megapixel auto focus rear camera with single LED flash and 3 megapixel front camera. Figure wise, the UMI X2 anyway looks better than the Micromax handset, but it is a category where figures are misleading.
Storage
Where storage is concerned Micromax Canvas HD is a decent device as it has 4 GB of internal memory of which 1.77 GB is available for the user. One can also expand the memory up to 32 GB using a micro SD card. But when compared to the UMI X2's storage space, Canvas HD looks very ordinary. This is because, the UMI X2 comes with a huge 32 GB ROM, of which we expect that around 25-28 GB will be available for users to store their data. Besides, the UMI X2 has support for a micro SD card as well through which you can expand the memory by another 32 GB.
Battery
Both phones come with 5 inch screens as well as quad core processors so their requirements are similar. That is why the 2500 mAh battery in UMI X2 looks a lot better than the 2000 mAh battery of Micromax Canvas HD. As I said in the review as well, Canvas HD gives around five hours of talktime with one full recharge. We expect the UMI X2 to provide more talktime as it has a bigger battery, which should last around 6-7 hours at the least.
Processor, OS, RAM
Both the handsets come with the same MediaTek processor which has four cores and 1.2 GHz clockspeed. Also, both UMI X2 and Micromax Canvas HD A116 have Android 4.1 Jelly Bean operating system, and both the handset manufactures have promised to release Android 4.2 update for the smartphones in due course of time. What makes the UMI X2 special is its 2 GB RAM against Canvas HD's 1 GB RAM.
I would buy UMI x2 instead of Micromax Canvas HD after seeing the specifications !!

Videocon A55HD with 5 inch HD display

Videocon has launched its first smartphone with HD display. The Videocon A55HD has a 5 inch 1280 x 720 pixel display, and is based on OGS (One Glass Solution) which promises a wider viewing angle and visibility in bright sunlight. The phone has a 1.2 GHz quad core processor, 1 GB RAM and 4 GB inbuilt memory. It seems Videocon has used the latest Mediatek MT6589T chipset in the phone, which supports up to 42 Mbps speeds on 3G.
Videocon A55HD has an 8 megapixel autofocus camera at the back and a 3.2 megapixel unit in front. The phone runs on a 2000 mAh battery. Apart from that the phone supports regular connectivity options like 3G (speeds of up to 42 Mbps). WiFi and Bluetooth 4.0, and GPS/A-GPS is also supported for navigation.

Just5 Spacer - 139 eur Android 4.2 phone, 1,3GHz Quad core, 1GB RAM, 8MPx

I've found something really interesting - Just5 Spacer 139Eur budget Android phone.
The main difference from other China phones is that, this one is designed by Latvians and has a good distribution and support in EU.
Just5 Spacer technical specs
Dual SIM
5.0” qHD (960X540)
1 Gb RAM
Li-ion 1800mAh
Camera 8.0 MPx + AF
2.0 Mpx front facing

Runs on Android 4.2.2. Feels very smooth and snappy. I was able to run Real Racing 3 even on a highest settings without major issues. Here is a short video review.
