TWRP - RAZR HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

after having to flash stock 4.1.2 back to my droid razr hd, i installed TWRP. I made a back up of stock so i could flash custom roms again, checked to make sure it was there on the restore menu(it was)and flashed Carbon. When i found carbon wasn't to my liking, i wiped data/factory reset, and when i attempted to flash my back up of stock, there was nothing there. this was the problem i had that made me go to cwm and eventually oudhs. any ideas as to what's going on?

When you go to restore, look at the top and it should say 'Storage: Internal Storage (#### MB)' or 'Storage: Mico SDcard Storage (#### MB)'. In either case touch it and change it to whatever the other option is.

Can't format G-Tab, nvflash does nothing, all apps and settings are still there!

Okay I am super confused. I've successfully used FORMAT utility and also nvflash restore...but the tablet won't format!!! All my apps and settings are still there when I nvflash restore it!
I ran the nvflash_gtablet.bat from the Format utility..and it looked liked it worked: at the end of the process the tablet showed the red font with the kernel mismatch and bootloader not found, or something along those lines..
Just to be safe, I did it a second time. lol
Then I used nvflash restore to restore it back to original shipping.
I noticed right away something was wrong when as soon as it booted to the tap and tap home screen, the screen started to go dim after 15 seconds (that was the screen timeout time I'd set before formatting and all that).
But I thought maybe it was a fluke, so I checked the app drawer, and all my apps are there!!!! Not only that, it connected to my password protected wifi right away!!
Can someone please help me delete the f_ck out of this thing? I want there to be NOTHING left, so I can get a clean start.
The reason I wanted to format is because, I'm having a sound issue with my gtablet (whenever entering the volume control and adjusting the volume the processes always force closes...no matter what ROM I'm on). I wipe data, try to start fresh, but the problem always occurs after a few hours of use on any ROM (even the brand new TNT 5).
And I don't know if this matters or not, I'm on Windows 7, 64 bit...but I obviously have the USB drivers working because I'm using these utilities.
Please somebody? Today is my only day off work for a long long time.
I "THINK" I remember reading that you could flash CWM and from there wipe user data, then run nvflash to get back to stock recovery. Never tried it myself & I'm new here, so take the info for what it is worth.
Don't panic....
I don't think you have anything to worry about. If you read the post (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=974422), it states in rather large red letters at top :"This fully erases the ROM but this will NOT affect the internal SD card. You MUST be able to use nvflash to restore the stock firmware."
Since your apps are installed on the internal SD, that's why you see them when you reload the ROM.
Edit: If I were you, I'd run the Format and load stock, then reload Clockwork and format the internal SD. That should get you back to a rather vanilla slate.
You can also refer to the posting below as another source. If you go down to the Homebrew link found in the posting, it's is used to revert the gtab back to it's original TnT state.

format and nvflash do not erase personnal data, a full reflash of difference firmware might format your personnal data, if you want to wipe out data, use the Factory wipe in the CW menu

Thank you all for your replies. But I am a little confused still. AFAIK the apps aren't on the sd card...wouldn't I be able to see them when I mount the sd card on the computer?
ksc6000,
Storage devices on the G-Tablet are named as follows:
/sdcard -- main memory
/sdcard2 -- external mini-SD card
/usbdisk -- USB key

Evo Shift Problem

Hello XDA Developers,
First off let me say thank you for all the information always found on your forums, however I've run into a snag with my phone (HTC EVO Shift 4g) and need some help. I was doing a factory reset of my device using the tool in the Clockwork Mod Recovery (v5.0.2.0) and I went to wipe some additional data off my SD card, and inadvertently chose to format the /system, and pretty much every directory in the storage menu, which I later realized I probably shouldn't have done as now I can't get my phone to boot. Where the snag falls into here, I had made a backup of all my data on my SD card but have misplaced my full backup made through the clockwork mod. When I try booting my phone it simply comes up with the white boot screen with the "htc" logo in green. I have tried about everything I could possibly think of to get my shift working again, since it won't fully boot, the only option I've been able to try have been trying to get a ROM to install from a .zip, but I keep running into errors, did I manage to wipe out some sort of critical data when I did those formats?? Any help you guys can offer me will be GREATLY appreciated!!! Thank you in advance for your expertise and input on this.
NOTE: I have tried to download one of the STOCK RUU's that you guys have posted, I have yet to find one that will actually download or resolve my issue!
Sounds like you wiped and formatted everything.. Including your sd card.
Download a ROM to your pc - In clockwork go to mounts and storage - plug your phone into your pc and select mount usb. Transfer the ROM onto your sd card, unmounted your sd, wipe then flash.

Alright man all that happened was when you hit format system, you wiped the ROM from the phone, so download any ROM of choice go into recovery then mount as a storage device and transfer the ROM to the SD card, unmount then format system, data, cache and dalvik cache and flash the ROM and you will be fine

Ok but does anyone have a stock RUU Rom I can download to do this? I'd kind of like to revert to stock in this process and I can't find one that works properly, thanks!

Can you boot into clock work recovery? That's all you need.

What will format SD?

I've been waiting for a rooted, flashable ICS to flash on my wife's NS4G.
Now that I have that I want to make sure that a factory reset/wipe before I flash will leave data on the SD? I want to leave all her pics and videos on the SD when I flash the new ROM.
Thanks.

A reset/wipe shouldn't delete anything from the SD card, there's a funtion in settings for that. You're safe.
But here's a thought, why not just remove the SD before you wipe? That would probably set your mind at ease...
I would if I could but on the NS4G it is built in. Right?
Yes, the 'SD-Card' is just a partition on the internal flashdrive.
As long as the NS4G is already unlocked and you don't select to wipe the USB-storage you should be good to go!

sdcard/ blank in CM9?

Hey guys,
So I flashed my Rogers i727R to CM9 a4 and found that when I installed ROOT browser to get to my files on my internal sdcard it was completely blank yet the files/apps/back ups are there still for sure. Is this a known problem or is mine just messed up?
Thanks
External SD is emmc not /emmc/SD card. Internal is /SD card. That's how it is with mine on cm9 a4

The standard mounting in CM9 on a SkyRocket is for the internal sd card to be mounted in /emcc and the external sd card to be mounted in /sdcard.
Thanks guys, I figured that out. It looks like the problem is MUCH deeper. When in CWM recovery I can not back up or restore at all. I can navigate to "clockworkmod/backup" and SEE the folder but it says it's empty (it's not). I get "E: can't mount sdcard". I've tried the CMW Touch version too and I get the same outcome. I've formatted the card through stock, I've odin'd back to stock, I've done everything. "E:Can't mount sdcard" has plagued my fu**ing life. I have googled and searched my fingers off yet nothing works. I can see the card, the card has data, I can backup and recover through the ROM Manager with stock firmware but no matter what I do I can't do sh*t through recovery. What makes things worse is when I was using CM9a4 I couldn't back up or restore anything at anytime and when I went into storage I would have the memory greyed out (no colors indicating pictures/data/music/etc.) yet I could access all my data.
I'm ready to pitch this thing out the window. I try ONE ROM, follow instructions to the T and this happens...

I just now restored to CM9 a4 using touch recovery. I go back and forth between this and Sky ICS. Not sure what your issue could be.
I have no idea what to do next. I've tried everything.
Here's one thing...
when I navigate through ROOT Browser the sdcard is showing in the initial folder AS WELL as in mnt/sdcard
so the same card is at:
/sdcard AND mnt/sdcard
is this weird?
have you resolved this?? it just happened to me, can't mount internal sd
Isn't the internal sd mounted at /emmc on cm9?
Edit that's what I get for only reading the last 2 posts... NM, I guess.

I don't know which recovery you're using, but you'll need to pick the wipe internal storage option. As you've found out the factory reset doesn't touch your internal storage partiton. (even though one might expect it to)
