Hi,
I've read a post regarding the stock clock/weather and it not being able to run through another launcher, with finally the alternative to install One More Clock Widget, but....
Would someone out there be able to mod the original widget so that it can work with other launchers (currently running Nova)?
I have an issue with OMC being that it has difficulties with the geo-localization (only through WIFI???) and although the developer is more than reactive (a real pro - thanks!), if there's no evident solution on his side, I'm stuck....
thanks for your hopefully positive reactions,
Cheers:good:

I too switched to Nova and missed the stock widget. I have OMC but am currently using 1Weather. I know this isn't answering your question, but once you get use to an other widget, you won't miss the stock.

I was wondering if it would be possible to port the widgets from the Samsung Galaxy S over to the Nexus One?
If there is anyone that would be able to do this please let me know (wltnkyl at gmail), I would be very interested in using these widgets on my Nexus One.
**as .apk please since my Nexus is not rooted and would prefer not to root at this time**
Thank you.
same wishes here
most likely it's a no. 99% of the time nothing can be ported from a custom UI.
or not
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=709763
mm..i don't know..for me this is possible..
The launcher is ported fine..
certain, the social's widget no...because social hub is integrated in the rom, but watch and weather yes..
Was hoping to be able to use the news and weather one as it is the best I've seen. Would also like to use the contacts one, not sure about that one though as it might be tied into the custom contacts app.
If someone can get the news and weather to the Nexus One, as well as any others I would be very appreciative.
-also, downloaded and trying the Touchwiz launcher linked above, thanks for that. Just need widgets now!
edit: Installed the Touchwiz launcher ported by 'rolle3k' (great job), and it is working perfectly, no bugs that I have found yet. I recommend this to everyone out there that likes the look of the Touchwiz Android Launcher...
Hey everybody, I have tried to search around and I have found no luck, but does anyone know if they have ported the sense ui and can you load it on the captivate? maybe a dumb question i dunno but i figured i would give it a try.
Not yet. Mostly everyone has been working on the gps issues and lag fixes.
just use Launcher Pro and then find a .apk file for fancy widget (a copy of the clock), it's not sense, but its much snappier than the stock captivate launcher and it has some HTC like widgets in the paid version, I find it very functional ^_^
Ive tried several different launchers including launcher pro but i found that i like adw launcher the best. You can download a sense theme for it from the market. I previously had samset 1.5 & 1.8 installed which includes the clock widget. After i synced to app brain i was able to reinstall it after i flashed a different rom. This is pretty much my ui of choice. It has been running great, plus you can enable horizontal swipe in the app drawer via adw settings which i find to work more smoothly. Hope that might have helped some for the time being.

Thank You! I too have been looking for a version of sense for the Captivate. This does a good job of pulling off the over all look and feel!
Another vote for the paid version of Fancy Widget. Very customizable and can be made to look just like Sense.
Sense UI isn't just a skin or launcher like TouchWiz. It actually replaces a lot of stuff in the ROM and has its own framework. You can't just "add" it to a ROM. It IS the ROM. I don't think you'll have it running on Galaxy S phone anytime soon.

Not working:
1.camera
2.phone service
3.HTC usb menu (can be fixed with a script made by dexter, and smali to some jar's)
4.Turning of the device
5.HTC's hibernate mode
6.Lockscreen( pressing power to bring the phone from standby will not get a lockscreen after like 5min, plug the device to usb cable and it should bring the lockscreen up)
7.Other things i might have forgotten.

You don't get it do you. I posted the link where this was being looked at. I never stated it worked. Don't be so hung up on being right when in fact you aren't. This question is unnecessary and will be locked by a mod because the question has been answered.

Hi, I'm quite new to putting a new rom on my phone, but so far loving the results but just have a couple of questions if anyone can help??
I have just installed an ICS rom, and I quite like the simple weather widget it comes with as stock, is there a Digital Clock widget to match it, I cant seem to find one, but I am sure I've seen one somewhere.
And secondly, is there a tweak somewhere that will allow me to have Wake On Volume keys?
There is not one in the settings maybe there is a downloadable one somewhere?
Thanks

Widgets in ics are more or less a problem right now. There are only few, because until there is a stable version it will be held as clean as possible. You can use any widgets from market not made for a special launcher. Try Android widgets pro, even if it had no digital clock though.
I think cm9 is the only ics ROM with volume key screen on, even if I'm not sure whether it's supported or not.
But there are other non-ics roms supporting that feature. I'm using endymion 3.4 and always waking up my screen with volume keys. On cm7 there was the same feature for sure.

Hello everybody!
I'm interested in buying the Mate 8 but still have a few question I weren't able to find answers to.
I currently own a Nexus 5 and like the clean look of stock Android.
First questions are in regards to themes.
1. Do they still apply when you change the launcher or this somehow linked to the EMUI stock launcher?
2. Can you change the dropdown menu (notifications and quick settings) with these themes, too, in order to make it more like stock Android? Screenshots of the dropdown menu are rarely given.
3. How easy is it to create themes by oneself?
All in all I'd like to have a clean stock look as especially these bubbles around the icons are a pain to my eyes.
I would prefer to NOT have to flash a custom ROM.
The second part of my questions is in regard to Google Now.
1. Do you have the Google Now cards available?
2. Is Google Now on Tap working?
I hope you guys can enlighten me
Thanks in advance! :fingers-crossed:

1. Do they still apply when you change the launcher or this somehow linked to the EMUI stock launcher?
EMUI themes still apply when you change launchers. You can set your custom icons on the launcher desktop, but the themed icon will still appear in other places like the recent apps screen or in notifications. So you will still see ugly rounded square or circle boarder with your icons outside of your launcher desktop. Fortunately this can be solved by installing custom EMUI theme with stock icons, which you can find here: http://foerster.io/hack-huawei-enable-pure-icons-with-no-borders-backgrounds-etc/
2. Can you change the dropdown menu (notifications and quick settings) with these themes, too, in order to make it more like stock Android? Screenshots of the dropdown menu are rarely given.
Themes can change the dropdown menu to a certain extent, mostly changing the shortcut icons. I've yet to see any theme that can make the dropdown menu look completely stock, I don't think it's possible because they operate differently. To me the EMUI dropdown UI looked decent enough (albeit in a different style) so I don't mind it so much.
3. How easy is it to create themes by oneself?
Don't know, never tried it myself.
1. Do you have the Google Now cards available?
I have the international version of the phone (L29), most google services are pre-installed including google now cards. If you get the Chinese version you'll have to install google services yourself, which I heard is a fairly easy process.
2. Is Google Now on Tap working?
You can turn on the now on tap function in google cards settings, but it doesn't seem to work when I long press the home button.
Please note that I'm still on an early EMUI build (B103) and have not yet received any OTA, I don't know if later updates changes anything.
Overall I did get a fairly decent looking UI running on my mate 8. Some UI elements will remain in EMUI style (most notably recent apps and notification dropdown and settings screen) as you can't change those without a custom ROM or at least some root hack, but I don't mind those too much, in fact I liked some of the EMUI design. The worse part of EMUI 4.0 is the launcher and the forced icon background on 3rd party apps, but like I said earlier these can all be averted with 3rd party launcher and custom theme. If you're a diehard fans for the "stock-look" who won't accept any non-material design element then this may not be good enough for you, but it is good enough for me.
@beachletter
Thank you a million times, Sir!
So did I get this right and you also tried to achieve a more or less stock look?
If so, could you please provide screenshots of your dropdown menu and maybe of your homescreen?
Did you own a Nexus phone before the Mate 8, too?
Regarding the dropdown menu of notifications: if I understand it correctly it's more or less working like a timeline, not like on other phones. This can't be changed, can it? I guess I know the answer as themes are supposed to only change the look and not the way things work, but yeah...
This is what my ui looks like after getting custom launcher and material design icon theme.

I like stock icons and stock recent apps screen, but for notification and quick settings drop down I actually liked EMUI's implementation. I used CM and other near-stock rom in my previous phones.
See the post above for screenshots.
Alright, thanks again!
Now I have most of the information I can possibly get to make the right decision. Hopefully I will
Okay, so I've bought a Mate 8 to test things.
While it is really well designed, is nice to hold and snappy as well, I still can't get myself to like the software that much.
I have tried to apply the theme @beachletter provided but it somehow doesn't apply correctly and therefore many icons still have that bubble around it (e.g. Chrome, Play Store). Dialer and Contacts are still the same icons.
Regarding Google Now on Tap: this functionality was added with B152 firmware update which immediately showed up while setting up the device.
Additionally I have to say that the horizontal scrolling in the recent apps menu is even more unintuitive than I've thought it would be.

That's strange, on my phone the dialer and contacts have separate icons (although I usually don't use contacts because I can quick dial any name in dialer to search my contact list) , and I don't see any icon background/border for chrome or play store.
Maybe you should check out the newest version of the theme here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/general/rooting-roms/hack-enable-pure-icons-borders-t3315731
and FYI the launcher I use is NOVA Prime
Good to know google now is back in B152. Unfortunately my phone doesn't get any OTA update above B103 yet. But at least there's no camera focusing issue on my phone, even with B103.

It's not that bad anymore. I installed Nova Prime as well and added icon packs to fit my preferences.
But with the new theme it's working, even in the status bar! Thanks for providing the link!

Actually I just switched to this theme which seems to have a more comprehensive set of material design icons:

You may want to give it a try.
Hello! I cannot get the Quick Dial widget to work at all! It works if I use the stock launcher, but not when I use Nova Launcher. I'm running the latest version of Nova Launcher (5.0.2) on a rooted Huawei Mate 9. I can create the link/icon but when I try to click it, it says "permission denied." Is there any way to fix this? I would hate to have to switch back to the stock launcher because of this!

I'm going to repost this in the Nova Launcher thread, just to see if maybe someone there might know something.

Hi,
To circumvent this problem with the direct-call widget some people recommended Speeddial.apk. The free version only lets you create dial-contacts while the pro version also allows sms-contacts. But since SMS widgets already work (they use a different app to actually direct-text) the free version is sufficient. The only problem of Speeddial is its big storage requirements and the regular nagging to obtain the pro-version.
A much better alternative IMHO that is completely free is Quickdial.apk. This is widget-app is only limited to dialer-shortcuts but it only requires 384kB instead o/t +2MB of SpeedDial. Beware that some people might not like the look of QuickDial's widgets.
