ANDROID 4.3 OTA Update Coming To Google Edition "Soon". It was announced today at the Google Breakfast event.
Samsung is in charge of the update so hopefully it will become available soon.

No yet about it, Google aren't hosting factory images for the GPe phones, that's up to Samsung & HTC
We've had the JWR66V build floating around for a while now though. So i'm assuming this build will offer nothing new.

If that was the case wouldn't the build be different? The build on the nexus 4 had the same build as the 4.3 "leak". I would assume a finished build would differentiate itself from a leak build by the build number.

Nah I think it will be here very soon. The leaks were kinda finished, Suckwiz probably needs more work. All crapware needs to be ported to 4.3 lol.

We won't get it until after the Nexus 7 is released in "the coming weeks", then the Nexus 4, and then Tue GES4. 2 months is probably a good guess and I'd be pleased with that.

The images are already up for existing Nexus devices, and I believe the source code is available. I can't think of any reason to wait.

Do we have the 4.2.2 factory images for the GPE yet? I've not been able to find them if we do. Right now I've got 4.2.2 with TWRP installed and really didn't think that through about how to get stock recovery back to flash any OTA. I hope they at least give us a factory image for 4.3. Come on, Samsung....

I think you are way too optimistic. I was quite surprised that it officially got 4.1.2, I really can't see it getting an official 4.3 release, but I was wrong before so take that with a grain of salt. Having said that, I'm already running 4.3 on mine...

Yeah I've just rooted sooooo many phones and when I went back to this one, I just lost that loving feeling of rooting or just lazy ya know but again I know there are so many reasons to do it just have to get my laptop back and thanks for response

We won't see 4.2 let alone 4.3. For either of those android versions aosp is your only hope
This is a legacy device, no chance will Samsung or the carriers release any future official updates for the phone. They want you to upgrade and buy the latest hardware to get that type of support.

I guess we will have to wait for further info
We can still have 3 more weeks to wait...
And let's not forget Samsung was forced to update the s4 to 4.3 as to not fall back to HTC One (which has 4.3 for a week already).
Otherwise this android version would be kept just for the note 3, to boost is sales, while the s4 would get the "premium suite" based on 4.3 in December.

For all who are going to flash a leak version with Odin.
You maybe stuck with a leak bootloader for ever and not be able to upgrade with the real thing official firmware.

On the ml baseband with Scots clean rom 8.1.
Also wondering if someone can see if the new ART vm is in it. Sure would put some sand back into this aging phone.

Does not exist yet on Verizon. We're still on 4.3 TouchWiz officially with no leaks for KitKat.

KitKat ROMs would probably give you even more problems because until Verizon releases KitKat we are stuck on the jelly bean kernel. Well that is if you took the update I just assumed you did.

According to Mo Versi, the update is on track to be approved and hopefully released within the next couple weeks. Yes we already have lollipop roms but none of them work like a proper ROM with the correct firmware. If nothing else, the release will be a boon for custom ROM makers too! Anyone else getting excited?

I believe you need the source code. You have to wait for the final release that Google makes available, the most you can do is a dump and catch the apk's

Should be very likely.
There were ports of ICS and Kitkat for my old LG P350 device. Why wouldn't there be ports for M. The S4 should run it just fine.
I would be satisfied if s4 gets all L updates cause android M wont be released almost 100% for s4...or maxbe samsung has some other thoughts [emoji14]
After I saw that Google released the source code, just do not know if it is 100% platform ....It would be nice at least be able to use part of the optimization of ART and battery (doze project). I'm using the GearCM (optimized version of CyanogenMod) for i9500 ... is that changing the manifest can do a partial port?
I might try build it, see what the crack is.

He is talking about official manufacturer release.
Generally, after 18 months the manufacturer drops update development for a phone. It's been 2 years since the S4 released. Samsung already has 2 devices on which they have to work + their next flag ship.
I doubt they are going to spend more time on our 2 year old device.
We will surely get AOSP versions of M but official samsung version might be unlikely.

I'm pretty sure there won't be any official Touchwiz M for the S4 and considering the fact that 5.1 isn't even out for the google play edition S4... i'm pretty sure the GPE model will not see M either.
Yeah probably s4 stops at L,s5 will probably get M too.
Android 'Biggest update ever' failed badly, now Google should get serious about the quality of updates.
