Hi guys...my friend gave me his Tab 2 7.0 in order to root and flash paranoid android on it...but now something terrible happens it won't charge...but it recognizes if it is plugged in or not...of it is off and I plug in the USB cable it loads the battery sign and shows me a battery with golden "juice" but than the sing disappears again...could you help me please? I read on a lot of forums that it's might just the cable but I can't test...he gave me just the USB cable... One thing I recognized is the phone showed me before rooting a litte red "x" in the battery all the time I was charging.
I'd be pleased to all answers.
EDIT: I've just cleaned the usb cable and the female input and actually it charges but it doesnt show not even on cm10.1.2 stable.

Did you try using another cable? Samsung stock cables are the worst. Most of the problems with my galaxt tab 2 and my girlfriend's s3 were caused by the faulty cable.
Just make sure there is nothing wrong with the cable or adapter you are using then go from there if it still won't charge.

A couple basic things to try and consider to get you started:
Bad battery-try a stand alone charger to see if it will charge. If you know how to use one you can even try a multimeter to check voltage and see if battery is holding a charge
Bad usb cable/port -try a different cable...try several different cables and/or ports on your computer. Try blowing out the dust or debris that may have settled on your usb contacts.

I've had one thing happen in the past that I thought was a charging issue, which turned out not to be. When I went all the way back to stock Froyo, I spent days wondering why the hell it'd only charge when plugged into my PC. Turned out that for some reason, on Froyo, it'd only recognize the official Samsung cable, which happened to be the one I used to sync to my computer. On GB and anything after that, it recognized any cable I used.

Had the same issue with Tab 8.9. I have a 2012 Wrangler, with a built in USB port, also have a USB charger plugged into the power port. When I connect my 7.7, all I get is a red X over the battery icon. In the settings under status, it says "discharging".i have no issues with my Note2 using the same ports. Have tried different cables with the tab.
Any body have any ideas? The tab is stock, unrooted, running ICS.
The Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 being a tablet needs a 2A charger to charge, most smartphones need only 1A some even less

My USB charger is a 2 Amp, but is dual port. Could have sworn the package said it was 2 amps per port, unless both ports were used, then would be 1amp per port. Then my other is 2.5 Micro USB, BUT has a USB port in it as well.
The P6800 is picky for what charger you use. I got several chargers and tabs and phones. 2 of those are very picky, the 7.7 and the HP-touchpad.
Just get a real Samsung car charger and you will be ok.
maybe the thing (tab) needs to be powered) OFF before it will charge in your car's USB charge port...
I know at home with the USB plugged into the laptop.. it will NOT charge,,,...unless I power it OFF.. then it will charge...

I'll give that a shot, although would be pointless. Can't use gps, data or phone if it's off. I haven't bought the OEM charger for it yet.
Thanks!

Hi,
I spent a lot of time searching for good charger (bought at least 4) different types, and got allways the same results the red X until few days ago. I tried my Samsung I9100 phone cable (micro USB) with an adpter (P1000) bought from eBay (http://www.ebay.com/itm/Micro-USB-3...Readers_USB_Host_Adapters&hash=item484f20b751) for almost nothing. The result was impressive, on on hour drive the device charges at a rate of 10% progress (without having the red X).
Some thing else that may interst some of questioning the charge from the laptop, I had the same fantastic result (but the adapter does not allow Sync).
Cheers
Have a look at this thread here

there are ways to get this done.. you'll just have to buy a new piece of hardware and they are way cheap.
good luck..
Heyo guys, I've got a problem with charging my Nexus S.
When I'm using the ac adapter to charge my phone, but it is always showing in the battery menu "not charging". But if I use the USB cabel to charge it by plug it in the PC, it works.
Only sometimes it works with the charge kit, but I don't know why it does not sometimes.
Also, while it's charging with the adapter, the battery drains.
I hope that I'll get a quick answer

Try another AC adapter for nexus s and then check, may be your one is not working, if if does charge through data cable then one thing is clear that there is something in the adapter
same problems for me...
I have same problem.. the only way I can charge is to turn off phone and then insert power chord. Then phone starts off and charges. but when its already on, the phone does not charge with usb or wall chargers. I have tried multiple of them and I think its slimbeans 4.2.2 issue on nexus S.
Would it be better to go to ICS or other ROMS? or is this hardware problem for sure?
Regards,
Sachin

I do believe that for the tab 2 to charge via your computer's usb port, it needs to be off.
Normal usb do only have 5volts to use. And the tab 2 uses more than that when it is on.
i asked myself that when i got mine.
it says "discharging" ans shows an "X" but in fact it DOES charge, but very veeeery slowly. you can leave it plugged for hours and you'll see that. i tend not to charge it via USB but if you will be on the laptop for hours its a good alternative.
my P5100 also doesnt charge from the laptop, same cable that charges from the wall charger i got with the tablet
maybe needs another special usb cable to charge from computers
Thanks for the replies

i remember reading on a site not too long ago trying to figure out this problem myself. they were saying that usb ports are like 500ma and since our tablets have a 4000mah battery. the usb ports dont provide suffient power even with the screens turned off. only way to do it was with the tablet completely off and maybe it would charge. i know when i plug mine into usb it wont charge, even with trying the little trick to it.
The manual states the tab will not charge via USB and the provided wall chargermust be used to charge the tab. USB ports dont provide enough power to run the tab and charge the battery.

Hy guys, as you can read my phone suddenly started not to charge. One day i was chatting on whatsapp and suddenly the phone turned off with 5% of battery remaining. Since that moment the phone is not charging. I change the battery and the usb port board but it is still not charging. It recognises that the usb cable is plugged in but it doesn't charge... i tried to charge it while in bootloader, recovery or with the phone turned off.. Nothing worked. I don't want to factory reset it since i have 11% of battery holding at that level thanks to the charger. DO you guys have any ideas? thanks....

Try using stock charger and stock usb cable. I also had the issue stock usb cable fixed it.
I am using the stock charger but my stock cable is destroyed. I have another cable that is really good, I have always used it and I tryed also different cables but still not charging... It just can't stop charging from one moment to another because of the cable, that cable is perfectly fine. Thanks anyway Any other suggestion?

I know how these things works and I have already tried different chargers and cable and stock ones as well and it is not a problem of charger or cable. Any other useful suggestion?
Make sure that when you replaced the battery, all the cables were clipped back in right.
