I am a Newbie to android and tablets. I have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 P3100 and I am from India. Tab came with android 4.1.2.
One week back I have rooted the tab by flashing CF-Auto-root using Odin. And I also flashed ClockWorkMod Recovery.
By asking people in this forum I under stand that now I will not receive official Samsung updates without unrooting the phone.
Should I also remove ClockWorkMod Recovery to receive official update?
I dont know if there was a program that will launch when I do (power + volume down) before flashing CWS. If so How do I get it back?
Below are my samsung android details from 'About Phone',

By looking in sammobile.com I found below firmware,
Model: GT-P3100
Country: India
Version: Android 4.1.2
Changelist: N/A
Build date: N/A
Product Code: INU
PDA: P3100DDCMC1
CSC: P3100ODDCMC1
MODEM: P3100DDCLK1
Is it the official stock firmware for my tab which I can use to flash in case I want to go back to stock firmware?
Will flahsing it take care of unrooting and also remove CWM and replace it whatever was there?
Will it also take care of a complete wipe of my internal SD card?
I went to in to CWM and took a backup to my external SD card.
Is it the backup of my current running android (rom)?
WIll this backup contain my apps and personal files?
Is it possible to keep a copy of this backup in my computer?

Use Triangle Away first to reset flashing counts. Then flash the above firmware using odin (flashing official firmware will not increase flashing counts). You get everything as it was when you purchased.

Yes. You need to store a copy of cwmrecovery folder and blobs folder in your computer.

Which recovery are you using? Depending on the answer, you may have a couple of option:
1. Mount USBstorage in recovery, and copy the proper ROM for flashing (verify md5 to make sure it's OK).
2. Use adb to push or sideload your ROM (search for guides how to use it, if you don't know).
And of course, there is always an option to flash stock ROM in Odin, and start over.

Hi -
I'm trying to install the latest update from AT&T. I had previously tried rooting after going back to the default rom, and still have ClockworkMod Recovery v5.0.2.6 installed. When I download the update and reboot the phone, I get taken to this bootloader instead of giving me the option to install the update. When the phone finishes rebooting, the following message is displayed: "The software could not be updated at this time" My brother said I have to flash, but I'm not sure I know exactly what he meant. (is that just for the bootloader?)
Thanks in advance

how to Odin and stock firmware

And not to slam the OP but go to Sammobile to get the exact uckj2 Rom which is 100 percent stock
Read carefully and you'll be fine. I was new at flashes toi

Hello,
I am from India and recently purchased Galaxy tab 2 P3100 model with Jelly Bean 4.1.2 version built in on it.

I have tried to root the device two days back, here is what happened,
1) Copied cwm-root-gtab2.zip and Fix-Recovery.zip to external SD Card. Flashed GT-P3100_ClockworkMod-Recovery_6.0.1.0.tar using Odin successfully.
2) Went in to ClockWorkMod Recovery mode (power button + volume up) and Installed cwm-root-gtab2.zip and Fix-Recovery.zip using CWM Recovery successfully.
3) Rebooted the tab. ROOTING WAS NOT SUCCESSFUL.
4) Went in to download mode again and flashed CF-Auto-Root-espressorf-espressorfxx-gtp3100.zip using Odin and ROOTING WAS SUCCESS
5) But CWM Recovery was gone. So I went in to Download mode again and flashed GT-P3100_ClockworkMod-Recovery_6.0.1.0.tar to get CWM.
Now I have CWM and Rooting.
Question is will I be able to receive Samsung official updates whenever they are available?

U will not be able to update your tab over-the-air (from settings). Instead connect it to a laptop or pc and use samsung kies to update it. Make sure to unroot before you update using either of these methods or you might get a bootloop (stuck on boot screen).
Check out my thread if u want to root or unroot tab 2.

No on cos I was rooted with com and updated to jelly bean and 4.1.1update I was also rooted and all of these updates are oat
I went to Settings->About device->Software update->Update and I get below error message,
"Your device has been modified. Software updates are not available"
I opened SuperSu app and went to settings and did "Full Unroot" and rebooted the device. After rebooting verified in "Root Checker" app that root access is removed. Tried Software update again and still same error message.
What is the way to restore my Official Software update?

If I am correct, we should still get 4.2 by 2013 Q3 end. I don't want to miss that.
Btw, on top of unrooting, I also had to flash stock recovery to get rid of "Your device has been modified. Software updates are not available" error.
However now when I do, Settings->About device->Software update->Update I simply see a screen showing "Checking for software updates..." and that never completes. Could it be Samsung server error? or am I still being kicked out from Official updates? I remember that, earlier (before rooting) when I do this, I used to see some thing like "your device is already up to date".

So how about rooting via recovery mode?
Here is my observation. If you have ever rooted your tab 2 (using recovery or odin) in order to receive official updates you need to do the following,
* Use Triangle Away to reset the flash counter.
* Unroot the tab.
* If you have flashed CWM Recovery, re flash stock recovery.
* Finally flash stock firmware using odin (you can download your stock firmware from samemobile.com). When you flash stock firmware your flash count wont increase.
Does it even matter if you get updates from samsung?
You can easily get Odin-flashable updates from sammobile.com or samsung-updates.com (preferred by me).
Btw this is the easiest way to root gtab: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pAvze-VNzj8
Video is by me.

Need root after stock rom
I have seen threads being spammed with people not being able to upgrade to 4.4.2 and asking for help so i thought it would be better to make a thread for that purpose.
There is no need to root the polish stock rom if you want to move on to a custom rom after you have updated the new 4.4.2 bootloader!
You Know the deal if anything goes wrong then the blame is on you not me...
In this guide the links are for the older 4.4.2 stock polish rom "N9005XXUENA6_N9005OXXENA5".
For the newest stock rom N9005XXUENB3 and newer when available click here and put N9005 in the search box and download what ever country closest to yours that is available.
ODIN 307
Download Polish stock 4.4.2 rom "Mega mirror" and flash via Odin 307 in PDA tab and remember to tick Phone Bootloader Update.
Download TWRP for 4.4.2 and flash via Odin 307 in PDA tab. I didnt like the other recovery so i use TWRP and it's much better in my opinion.
Now you should see if the phone boots up the 4.4.2 polish stock. If it does then go to step 4. If it doesnt then move to Odin 309.
Now flash you chosen custom rom via recovery. Enjoy :victory:
ODIN 309
Download Polish stock 4.4.2 rom "Mega mirror" and flash via Odin 309 in AP tab and remember to tick Phone Bootloader Update.
Download TWRP for 4.4.2 and flash via Odin 309 in AP tab.
Now you should see if the phone boots up the 4.4.2 polish stock. If it does then move to step 4. IF it doesn't then move to step 5.
Now flash you chosen custom rom via recovery. Enjoy :victory:
Download 4.4.2 bootloader and flash with Odin 309 in BL tab. This is only done if the stock 4.4.2 rom dosn't upgrade the bootloader. Let it boot so you can check if it worked. If it did boot into 4.4.2 stock then go back to step 4. Last resort if the above didnt work is to try the SamMobile way below.

Does it have to be Polish ? Can we use other ones ?
Also, do we have to tick Phone Bootloader Update ?
I didn't tick this earlier, so it kinda screwed the phone. Softbricked it and then "kinda" fixed it.
And BTW, Phone Bootloader Update in 307 is disabled, greyed out.
But I'm running into some problems. Now I need to re-flash it.

If you follow the guide it will work and if 307 didnt work for you then 309 will.
Yes just go with the polish version to be on the safe side. I have only tried the polish version so i cannot speak for the other versions. If the 309 dont work eather then download the separete bootloader i have provided and flsh it with 309 and tick the Phone Bootloader Update.
Well, this one requires to update the modem. Not really sure I want to do that.
But, should I update Bootloader via Odin ?

md5 hash please
Hi
Can you please post the md5 hash of the file N9005XXUENA6_N9005OXXENA5_XEO.zip
MEGA does not provide hashes. The file is long and, I think it is worthwhile to check it before flashing it.
Thanks for your excellent guide.
i dont have a md5 but i checked with md5 checker and the file i have on my harddisk has - 7730BABC7713DFBE5934278FD653B3F7
Hope you can use that.
MD5 correct. Thanks.

I confirm that my N9005XXUENA6_N9005OXXENA5_XEO.zip file downloaded from MEGA had an identical md5.

Is it not better to install one of the final 4.4.2 by now ? any recommendation of those ?

Doesn't matter if you are gonna flash a custom rom after you get the new bootloader on the phone.
So it all depends what you wanna archive.

This is what you need:
1. ODIN at least version 3.07
2. Recovery, personally i recommend TWRP (google, and download the latest for EDGE)
3. The update Super SU files
Here is a good link for the guide:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/note-edge/general/easy-steps-stock-odin-n915tuvu1anjl-sm-t2943993
you can just jump to step 5 (forget the rest).....and just go straight flashing the recovery. Basically after installing recovery you are ready to go......just boot to the recovery, and install the SuperSU files, and you are done.
PLEASE BE AWARE: make sure you download the stock firmware (ROM) for your phone, just in case if anything goes wrong. You can download and find one in sammobile site. ALSO remember by rooting, you are voiding your warranty, and agree to take your own risk.
I got a T-Mobile S6 from a friend, and I'm trying to do whatever I can to enable using it on AT&T. I think a custom ROM might be nice, but I'm stuck on this CSC business.
It was weirdly flashed before, so I flashed it back to stock using Odin and a recent image from sammobile.
The image was G920TUVU5FQG3_G920TTMB5FQG3_TMB
Device: SM-G920T
Android Verson: 7.0
Baseband: G920TUVU5FQG3
Kernel Version:
3.10.61-11187574
[email protected] #1
Any advice is appreciated. I'm confident enough to flash TWRP and other things on the phone. (I've done some NAND hacking in my day.)
I'm just lacking some concise instruction/direction.
I assume I need to
1) Flash TWRP using Odin
2) Root the phone by flashing SuperSU or Magisk
3) Flash AT&T compatible ROM using TWRP
What am I missing with the CSC stuff? Do I need files from somewhere? When I tried to go through the install for "Ultimate Nougat 2.0" I got stuck on the which CSC, because it didn't appear to have a CSC compatible with AT&T/USA.
The goal is to use this phone on AT&T, hopefully with a decent debloated ROM that is as close to native google android as possible and doesn't have any vendor nonsense.
Thank you for your time.
You don't need to do anything regarding to CSC stuff.
Just flash TWRP and do whatever you want to do.
