Restart boot loop error - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Verizon Galaxy S3
SCH-I535
I535VRBMF1
4.1.2
It's rooted. Previously have run some custom roms, but I've gone back to stock since then.
Problem: Phone randomly restarts. It seems like it's only ever does it when it's plugged in and charging. Still, it happens just once every few days, and I can't recognize the pattern. It loads "Android is upgrading, starting apps." It vibrates for a nanosecond, and freezes, then restarts, and loops from there.
I don't know what to do, and fresh starts, factory resets, wiped caches, etc...do nothing
Thanks for anything guys. It's becoming quite annoying to change my settings and to rely on titanium backup every night to make sure that apps and data are there if something happe

If you're completely stock, it leads me to think it may be hardware related.
I would try to odin a stock image again and see if that fixes the issue, just in case something bad happened during the flash, if that still doesn't fix the issue, send it into samsung and see if they'll replace your phone.

Did you do something with your phone or did this happen all by itself?
Try flashing STOCK ROM via Odin.
Put your phone in recovery, Try wiping user data but it'll delete you contacts. If nothing happens then reflash.
Hi All,
I am facing the same issue. I upgraded my firmware from stock 2.2 to 2.3.3 GB around 6 months back and it was working fine till 2 days back. Suddenly 2 days back it started restarting itself and it ended in a boot loop. When I tried removing battery and started the phone, it semi resets the phone(like contacts and other settings getting deleted). I tried going to recovery mode and did factory reset/ Wipe cache and restarted my phone, but it was of no use. Today I tried to flash my phone with XXKPQ firware for which I flashed XXKPE first as per the guidelines given in Misledz's post. Flashing was successful, but it again ended in boot loop.
Guys, Please guide me on how to proceed with this. Its really irritating to see my phone in boot loop
Thanks a ton in advance.

I think this is a problem of psuedo reset...flash the stock firmware and take it to the service centre. They will replace the motherboard (you might even get 16GB internal memory )

Damn!! I am having the exact same problem and it also started a few days back!! Plus the phone heats up a lot during this with a massive battery drain.
I have tried hard reset, but no good so far and the phone is completely in stock condition DDKP3. Any Solutions??

It all started by itself...I am running the stock ROM only...I have tried clearing the cache and dalvik too..
Now i have flashed the recent ROM by Aditya (Titanium V3) and its having the same problem..!!
One more thing
One more thing that I have noticed is that whenever I press the home screen button after the phone is idle, the screen lights up and then the phone restarts suddenly resulting into boot loop..!!

[Q] Stuck on background

I'm not sure how best to describe this which has made it difficult to search the forums for someone with a similar issue.
I was using CleanROM 5.1 on my rooted Verizon Samsung SIII for months. Just yesterday it decided to stop responding so I pulled the battery and turned it back on. The screen it showed me after booting was that of my background with the apps button in the middle and the clock and battery in the top right. My menu and back button were lite but I couldn't do anything.
I flashed the CleanROM 5.6 thinking something might have become corrupted but the same issue happens when I boot.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
** Update **
I'm doing a factory reset as well. Hopefully that will do the trick. It actually it booting up and doing something now
For starters just try wiping cache, and dalvik. Are you doing clean flashes every time?

[Q] Bricked for no apparent reason

I rooted my phone back in December and have been using it without problems since then. I've rebooted it tons of time, haven't installed anything unusual or tried to modify anything. I just followed the normal instructions for rooting and flashing a custom rom. Today, I rebooted my phone and now it's hanging at the Galaxy SIII logo screen. Taking out the battery didn't help. I have no idea why it would do this out of the blue. What are my options for fixing this? Can I recover my data?

Should be easy to fix. Common issue.
Try booting into recovery. If you can then clear cache and dalvik. Try rebooting then.
If that doesn't work try re flashing the rom,
If you can't reboot into recovery but can get into download mode then you can easily fix it at the cost of losing all your data.
Let me know how it turns out.
At this point, my phone is just one big tweak.
Wiping the caches didn't work, so I ended up having to reflash the rom. Everything seems to be back to normal now though, thanks!

Stuck at "Samsung Galaxy SII" boot screen.

My phone was working just fine before I went to bed. I woke up this morning an my phone was stuck at the "Samsung Galaxy SIII" boot screen. I can't seem to get my phone back to a working state Here's what I've done so far:
I rebooted my device - didn't work.
I rebooted into recovery, wiped everything and installed clean rom 7 - no luck.
I've tried to ODIN back to stock and ODIN freezes immediately after it starts (for periods > 30 mins).
I've tried ODIN with two different USB cables.
Any idea on how I can get my phone back to a working state?
I am seeing the product name in download mode, so I don't suspect the "sudden death syndrome" that I've read about with the S3.

When you flash a new rom in recovery, what exactly happens? Does it completely finish, and when you reboot it gets stuck at the boot screen? Also have you tried restoring a backup?
You might have a bad rom download, but that doesn't explain why odin keeps failing. Try to do a factory reset without flashing anything and see if it'll boot up.

When installing the rom, it completes and reboots like normal. I've tried three different roms (and they've worked in the past) with no luck, so I don' think I have a bad download. Restoring a backup fails every time - I have multiple backups.
I've also done the factory reset - no go.

This should fix everything. It sounds like a data writing issue.

Stock rom keeps corrupting, advice please.

Sorry if its been asked, i tried a search but couldnt match my problem.
I bought a used samsung s6 for my son, it seemed fine when we checked it.
But its got an odd bug where if it restarts it gets stuck on boot up.
I've used smart switch to reinstall the offical samsung stock rom
The re-install all his apps.
The phone works fine and re-boots fine.
But after a few days, if restarted it wont boot and just gets stuck on the boot loadung screen. None of the special boot options helps, clearing cache or reset.
The only fix is to use smart switch to do a complete wipe and reinstall official software. It has never had Knox tripped, and the guy didnt seem to be the type to run a custom rom.
It getting to be a pain as he cant turn his phone off and if his battery runs down gis ogone will become useless until i re-set it and wipe all his data and settings. Which I have to do on an almost weekly basis
I have a few questions...
Is it a hardware issue? (It the stock rom on a phone thats never been modded afaik)
anybody know whats causing this to bomb in stock firmware?
Any idea how to fix it?
Would a custom rom fix it?

I had this problem with my brand new S6 when I first got it. Yes, random reboots were occurring every now and then, which I could live with. Then one day it just got stuck at the boot logo and didn't boot no matter how many times I re-flashed stock firmware with Odin. Turns out it was an issue with the Main Board inside the phone. Once I got it repaired it's been fine ever since.

The reparations involved replacing the entire Main Board with a new one.
