[Q] Rooted HTC One S

Hi
I have a rooted HTC One S with ViperOneS v1.2.1, yesterday I tried to upgrade to the newest update of ViperOneS but it just got stuck in the HTC logo and didn't get any further, then I tried with the same version I had installed and the same issue. Then I tried with another ROM and waited for 45 min and still same issue. A co-worker then told me I might have to SuperCID and S-OFF it ??? But is it really necessary when the phone is rooted and I already have a custom ROM on it ?
I've tried to read several threads on the subject but nothing that really gives me a straight answer
My phone works, cause I'd make a backup, but it is starting to act weird and I wan't to upgrade or try another ROM. :fingers-crossed:

Have you tried to flash the boot.img with fastboot from the comandline?

Also make sure to either use clock work mod or twrp 2.3.3.0 for recovery...nothing newer.
And yeah, you must fastboot the boot.img or it won't boot.

Hboot restrictions

Does anybody know if hboot 2.15 has fastboot restrictions? I am s-off and when I try to flash a radio via fastboot it denyed me access and when I was looking around online some people were relating this to the hboot. So If anybody has anything they would like to share I'd be happy to read it.

Flash them through recovery using the zips in the dev forum.

Thats exactly what I did but It still is throwing that error right when its about to write the img. Could it be the rom?

More likely recovery issue. Change that to lower like 2.3.0 or older.

I mean, do not use fastboot to flash radios...out don't work, S-OFF or not. Use the radio collection thread in the dev forum. Download the collection zip, then flash it in recovery. and follow the instructions on the screen through the aroma installer.

On a related note, what are the benefits of having the 2.15 boot over 1.14? Are there any improvements in terms of stability, etc? Before the reason not to upgrade was because of S-ON, but now that we are S-OFF, is it worth upgrading? Thanks!

You did not by any chance re-lock your bootloader, did you? that would explain why you can't flash.
If you're unlocked and S-Off, you can try the flashable hboot zips in my bootsplash thread. --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1777223 Look at posts #148, #212, #274 there.

[Q] Need order process to fully update Ville

Hello again,
I am attempting to get my phone fully updated and had a few questions regarding the update process.
These are the things that I need done to my phone in order to use $droyd$ cm10.1 instead of the downward slope "official"
SuperCID 1111111
Kernel 3.14 through RUU
S-OFF
It is my understanding that SuperCID is required to S-Off so that order is apparent, but the RUU update and anything else I may be missing I am unsure of.
I am running a TMOUS Ville (S4)
HBOOT 1.09
TWRP v2.4.2
I dont really care about the contents of the phone as its all either cloud based or backed up already.
What is the best course to take to do all that I need?
Am I missing anything vital to this process?
Also, this is the RUU I found doing a search, can someone verify this is the correct/most recent RUU I need :link:

Just super cid, then soff

He (apparently) needs to install a RUU to get the latest updates over OTA - otherwise the new 3.4 kernel for AOSP roms won't work (very well).
I'm trying the same thing, (hboot 1.06, s-on, unlocked, TWRP) but i'm pretty confused right now...
1. do i need s-off / stock recovery / something other to install a RUU exe?
2. if i successfully installed a RUU, should i update via OTA? or is it enough to install the latest RUU exe to get the firmware required for the 3.4 kernel?
3. some people mentioned big problems after the OTA update if you have super cid / s-off...... BUT
4. some people mentioned you can't get s-off AFTER you install the latest OTA update
so do we have the choice between not using the 3.4 kernel and not having s-on (therefore having to flashboot boot.img everytime), or am i missing something?

If wont to flash ONLY RUU, just install stock recovery.
If you want to get OTA, chanche super-CID to normal , 'coz YOU CAN FINISH WITH BRICK!!

When I try to dump the partition onto the SDcard, I get "Permission Denied"
I can't wipe the stock rom with TWRP or with Superwipe.
I just got a new phone under warranty exchange and realized that it is running 4.1.1. I'm not a noob but definitely feel like one. I tried searching the boards and all I can come up with is that maybe this can't Super CID yet. Is that true or am I missing a step for this newer build? Is there some other way to flash a ROM with S-ON and no Super CID? Any assistance would be appreciated.

You can flash whatever ROM you want without soff...just need to fastboot the boot.img.
For super cid, start on step 2 of that link using terminal emulator right on your phone.
Also, use twrp 2.3.3 or 2.2.2, people have been having issues with higher versions Or you can use cwm.

Attempted, was able to pull the mmcblk0p4 file, changed in HEX editor...instead of appearing as CWS__001 as the line to change, mine says T-MOB010 before my IMEI number. I changed it to 11111111, pushed the file and when I "fastboot oem readcid" it still reads T-MOB010. Tried in on the desktop and terminal emulator a couple of times. I just can't get the CID to stick!!!
Any other recommendations? I changed from TWRP to CWM 6.0.3.1 touch. I doubt the recovery has anything to do with it. Fully rooted...stuck on S-ON until I can figure out why I can't Super CID. MUST FLASH CUSTOM ROM!

I gave up for a little bit. I achieved s-off with moonshine but have yet to attempt again. I'm on vacation in two weeks and will devote a full day to it then.

If you have s-off, you don't need this. All you need to do is fastboot oem write cid 11111111

And what if we have S-On? I have S-On and can't get s-off because (I think) my hboot is causing USB connectivity problems when booted into the OS. I cannot get SuperCID to stick.

Can't Supercid with HBOOT 2.15.
It's vacation time, so I'm trying again. About to switch to an older recovery and just start messing around and seeing what kind of damage I can do...

FIXED
I wasn't able to flash TWRP to 2.3.3.0 so I just updated to the newest version 2.6.0.0.
I was finally able to wipe the system and data and everything and flash a fresh new rom.
TOOK LONG ENOUGH!!

If you are S=ON then you can not get scid with 2.15. The only (known to this time) way to get the s=off is moonshine script and then you can write the scid.

Yes you can. At least some of us. I am on 2.15 and used facepalm to get s-off, and that requires scid first.

I have the same problem as everyone I can't do SuperCID and S-Off.
I am HTC One S T-mobo10 HBOOT - 2.15.0000 Radio - 1.13.50.05.31 S-ON TWRP 2.6.3.0 recovery I've used every means possible I'm tired of reading all the forums, if you have a video how to make s-oFF moonshine upload or explains the community will thank:

Did you have any issues with moonshine? Tried doing this last night and it hangs on "Test 3" forever. I know it says not to touch your phone but after watching 2 shows on TV had to stop. Thoughts or suggestions?

Solved
So I followed someone else's directions and installed LinuxMint on a USB and was able to successfully run moonshine. I'm not S-OFF!

Hello,
I have the HTC ONE S and i am looking to put it back to stock to get it sent away for repairs, but i can't seem to find a way to do this
My HBOOT version is 2.15.0000
and my radio version is 1.11.50.05.28
Also S-ON
Is there any way to restore this to Stock and what RUU will i need, as i cannot find an RUU with my HBOOT.

This is for Norway, unbranded. Also evident from your info, you already have updated to latest jellybean software.
You can use the RUU in the following post, the method to verify thay the specific RUU supports your phone is also described. Follow it and hopefully you'll be back on stock.

Check the MD5 hashes of the File. Maybe a corrupt download.

Match both, if they match your download is good. Otherwise you have a corrupt download.

What are you doing when it tells you its corrupt? When you run it on your pc, or what?

I use Winrar to open the archive
I am sure i do, i have used one before for the att HOX

You don't open it, you double click it when in ruu mode. It's an exe. It not corrupted it's encrypted, lol

remember to flash stock recovery first if your not s-off.
and you might need to lock it after flashing the stock recovery. (back up your files for safety first)

Just need to relock for ruu. No need for stock recovery, the ruu will flash that.
To flash ruu or firmware zip, you must first:
fastboot oem lock
Then:
fastboot oem rebootruu
Then if ruu, just double click the ruu from windows. If firmware zip, then:
fastboot flash zip firmware.zip

A s-on device needs the recovery (as far as i know)
The OEM reboot...... line is a step thats not needed perse.
The ruu will take you there automatically.
Just set device in fastboot usb mode, and doubleclick the ruu.

Recovery is present inside RUU. Doesn't need separate flashing.

Hey, my HTC ONE S has a CID : GLOBA001. I just got S-OFF via rumrunner. What steps do I need to follow to revert to stock?
