I'm running 4.1.2. from AOKP on a Captivate. Recently, while online using Maxthon browser, I intermittently get a distorted screen. Everything freezes and the phone reboots.
The screen distortion is like a double image with vertical stripes of broken lines. All functionality is lost and after about 10 seconds the phone restarts.
Is this a hardware issue, a kernel issue, a Maxthon issue or some other problem?
Thanks.
Joe

Are you overclocking at all? It's either that or your phone doesn't like the voltages provided by the kernel.

Kernel doesn't allow voltage changes. The CPU is set for 100 min, 1200 max. Are you thinking I should back down that top end? Maybe 1000 Mhz?
I'll do that and set the governor to conservative.

At least see if that fixes your problems.

What the Min CPU load and Max CPU load do?

What governor are you using? Check that out in the performance section under settings.

I think CPU Sleeper Dual Core makes the 2nd core turn off while the screen is off but I'm not sure
We tried different governor s but both cores are still on. custom kernel is kt747

Are 2 cores online by default because my phone is heating up

Have you tried restarting your phone?

2 cores on is the default for almost every Governor, excellent for Abyssplug and Pegasusq, they hotplug by themselves. Although you can turn on Auto Hotplug with any governor

If the phone is getting hot for no reason then there is something else going on that needs to be addressed. Have you looked into battery usage or checked for wakelocks?

Heat and battery consumption are related to how long the CPU runs and at what speed. Not whether 1 or 2 cores are in use. If yours is heating up, either you are using a app that requires lots of graphics and real time like a game or you have a renegade app that is misbehaving.
is there any way to find out your current gpu clock speed..? Thanks in advance..
I believe stock is 200mhz

Thanks but.. What if you overclock the IC of the board (cpu+gpu) what if i LiveOC..?
I'm not sure if LiveOC affects the gpu , but I know certain kernels do! For instance, trinity overclocks your GPU (I'm not sure specifics, but you can look that up over in those forums). Marmite over clocks your CPU and GPU! Its super stable at 1096mhz/220mhz with a decent noticeable speed boost

What are you guys using to under clock the cpus? I'm using rom toolbox but the lowest minimum I can go is 1036.
