Since this phone is getting really old and it has had a lot of ROMs in the last few years, I would like to ask you all what your favourite ROM of all time has been. Each person can choose a maximum of 1 eclair, 1 froyo, 1 GB, 1 ICS and 1 JB ROM.
Here are mine
Eclair: G-ROM
Froyo: PuruKisad Hybrid
Gingerbread: MIUI
Ice Cream Sandwich: MPics
JellyBean: Killer G3
Froyo - Styloo's AOSP ROM
Gingerbread - AOSP
ICS - CM9
JB- CM10
I never used a custom ROM based on eclair.
Sent from my T959 Galaxy S powered by CM10.1.2
Mine:
Froyo - Purukisadhybrid
Gingerbread - CM 7.2 alpha 9 mtd version
ICS - CM9

When I was on Eclair I didn't even know about XDA and custom ROMs
Mine...

I had to thank you just because you mentioned indroid. IMHO the best most unique froyo ROM ever. The indroid team were awesome. My first ROM was indroid v4 though which was after the honeycomb remix.
Hmm..

Sorry to say that i had v6, but its not as good as v3.2 or v4. in v6 i cannot change theme neither using theme chooser app nor manually.
and it is not as smooth as earlier versions.

here is the link for indorid v4 rom.....http://mediafire.com/?h18a5vor5g20u2x
and the password for the file is khoc24h
it took me a day to findout the password. i dont have a time to check this rom. but i will do that as soon as possible...
Guys,
You are right. Indroid was the pioneer of custom ROMs for our beloved G3. In fact, it was the first one I used.
Thank you all for rekindling old memories.
My Picks:
I used only Froyo on my G3. My best is a tie btw Indroid, Kyrillos n PKH

If I remember correctly, the kernel was G3mod.
CWM was included in all Indroid ROMs I think, no need to flash the kernel separately.
Themes no idea.
Edit: themes were able to be downlaoded from Indroid OTA app/server.

Which is the best ROM to use right now?
The Cyanogen 9.0 ICS is pretty buggy.
I used the Beta 3 version.
I didn't really like the Cyanogen 7.5
I might try Fit droid 3.2, that looks nice.
I'm currently using the Chocobread.
I kinda actually like the Chocobread, but I don't like the colour in system.
Any suggestions?

Vish's CM 7.2.0 RC0 with Squad's 801 oc is the best for me and my Fit XWKT3. I haven't found any bug, with missing UKW-Radio I can live. Perhaps there is in a next version a data-connection-icon and a radio. But more important for me is the Vanilla-building without strange 3rd-party-apps - and without these (boot-)animation, which are often not changeable with my knowledge. Nevertheless I'll try Cocobread, there is a lot of good opinions. Can you make a specific difference between Chocobrad and Vish's CM?
i would say cm 7.2 rc0 by ty_style. included 844 oc kernel. evrything works. eaven radio.

Hi all !!
I'am back here and would like to create a more or less stock samsung ics rom !!
I have downloaded the stock Samsung galaxy S2 ics rom.
My aims in making it:
-Stock Samsung theme
-Porting TouchWiz (if possible!)
-Providing both odexed & deodexed versions.
Something more ??
Post your views of what can be added!!
This ROM can be a base ROM for other custom builds !!
Firstly, which ICS build should i take to build this ??
Serenity by hilleast
(or)
Rubelsollie's AOKP/CM9
(or)
icsforg3's AOSP
(or)
any other build which i forgot ???? (sorry if forgot mention your build !!:silly
On the other hand, i really cannot download the full git repository with a 60 kb/s connection. Also, i'm a noob in building things from sources !! That's why i'm using other dev's build to make this !!!
Your comments are awaited the most !!
I strongly believe that we'll get a fully working ics from our beloved, hard working dev's !!! :victory::highfive:

Serenity at top because it is active on forum!
Sent from my GT-I5801 using xda app-developers app
you can give it a go, but i'm not sure if its possible without fully working fimg gpu drivers
also i;ve tried aokp and serenity both. they're both good. but AOKP has fixed phone.apk while in serenity it crashes which was fixed.
I suggest: AOKP build 2 (camera works) or AOKP build 4 (camera doesn't work but there is a theme chooser)
Thanks for your replies !!
Currently AOKP build 2 and Serenity looks good.
So, which one should i finalize ??
Serenity is based on CM9 RC1 so camera, phone.apk and much more stuff doesn't work. A lot of people can't use serenity as daily rom. AOKP build 2 is 4.0.3 and "not working list" is the same as ICS forg3 build 4.

I think AOKP rom! That is the best rom! ....already has build 3 and build 4!

I think Serinity is better.
I dont really like AOKP but i would use Serenity providing you fix the phone.apk from crashing
I think that not working camera eliminates serenity. Serenity brings only theme chooser, but this rom will have stock samsung theme as default i think, so TC is useless. A lot of people want working camera, even without preview. On serenity it's impossible without kernel 3.0. So i suggest AOKP build 2.
I think you have to try MPICS 3.0. Quite stable and fast ROM:cyclops:

in hungary it is said that "for who the priest for who the clergyman's wife"
I think that icsforg3's AOSP is the best. Phone.apk and Camera are working. Try build 4 update 1.
It's true that in this ROM theme chooser doesn't work. For me this ROm can be used daily.
BTW Good luck with your project
AOKP is based on AOSP by ICS4G3...
Yep, and has a lot of tweaks, it's smooth, no Fc's.... perfect for a daily usage.
@OP
I'd suggest to go for Hillbeasts Serenity as he might solve some more thingys in future....he's looking towards JB
Well it's great that you are trying to port the ICS rom but personally i would suggest to try the GB rom. But yeah, it your choice so good luck! :good:
It is good to see another Samsung interface lover
I don't think you will be able to port stock touchwiz4 for our mobile. I think it can only work on arm v7 phones
But on xda there might be someone else who has tried to get it to work on arm v6 too
Sent from my GT-I5800
lots of recommendations... Thanks for that !....i have to finalize it soon so that i can ask the dev to make use of his work!!

Hello Developers! :highfive:
I have been flashing my device with new ROM's since a long time. I tried almost all type of ROM's. The basic query i have about CM9 ROM's is that why does the CM9 ROM start lagging and malfunctioning after some time? Most of the CM9 ROM's i used started lagging after a few days. Is it because I'm flashing it the wrong way? Or what? Is there a solution to this?
today i has flashed a cm9 without any bug, it's faster, but i will install various apps to see if it become slower than today

Indeed CM9 is laggy, but i encounter 2 of them to be very cool.
I recently installed KITKAT SANDWICH V 1.0 then installed the odex script from original link and full odex the rom, after that it is awesome
and for sd-ext i used Mount2SD.
PS: Sometimes flashing a good kernel makes the difference, sometimes a performance script....depends on the rom.
