Just curious why you'd disable the apps that are just as easily uninstallable (ie.Hangouts, GP Books, Games, Music, Drive, Earth)?
If you don't plan on using them....ever....why not increase your storage capacity?

What's the process of uninstalling them? Can't seem to do it in settings?

Are you using a custom ROM in which they're baked in? If so, the process for removing system .apks is a bit different, and you may in fact want to simply leave them disabled rather than removing entirely so you don't encounter any potential FC's or loss of functionality.

You removed facebook ? so you downloaded it and then uninstalled it, madness man madness.
I remove these every CM flash :
STK-SimToolKit ( PoS junk )
Terminal Emulator ( No need if you have a custom recovery )
MMS ( not hangouts )
Movie Editor ( WTF what is this a phone or a PC ? )
All Live wallpapers ( Saves some space, and i don't know anyone who uses them )
Email client and exchange ( don't use exchange because of pin entry swapped to gmail on Android 1.0 )
Any non-google camera related gallery(s) ( for AKOP / AOSP builds )
Sound recorder ( useless for me personally )
Any Browser that's not chrome ( always use linked devices to follow links from home / work )
Google+ / Magazines / Books / movies ( never used these and why bother magazines and books / movies are all integrated into play store, if GAPPS includes these )
You disable Drive? Dang son that's how/where my schoolwork gets done haha.
I'm on stock, rooted.
Disabled:

Exchange services

That doesn't make sense I'm pretty sure. Disabling an app has the same effect as uninstalling the app. The apk is simply not accessible to the OS, as it doesn't run. So you wouldn't prevent any dependency problems by disabling than by simply removing.

(shrugs).... you may be right. I would still play it safe before deleting them though, or @ the very least make a backup of the app first.

Hey guys, I've been a longtime member of xda-developers and I've been working on this app for the past few months with a team. I'd love to get your feedback on it.

You're absolutely right. Also, Aviate has changed a lot since the acquisition by Yahoo. This project looks great.

Can you try going here http://www.bentoapp.com/ and clicking join the beta? We've changed the sign up a bit. You should be able to immediately access the beta google group from there. Once you've joined the google group, you should see a link to the beta. Let me know if this doesn't work for you.
There is no link shows up for me also. Just a blank Group Page.
Blank group for me as well. Also tried to use desktop mode. Brings me to the welcome message in the group with a playstore link. Playstore link does not work.
Download link not working
Download link after joining beta from your website is not working.
edit: Works after manually copying and pasting link!
can't download from play store, item not found
edit: downloaded, some playstore or phone bug
Looks promising.
Signed up but it's just an empty Google groups page. Um, what do I do?

We're really sorry about the blank google groups page. This is the link to download the app. https://play.google.com/apps/testing/com.bento.launcher . There have been multiple issues with the way play store beta membership groups work and we have tried to fix all of the issues.
If clicking on the above link takes you to a page that says "App doesn't exist" or "Page not found", you could try a few things:
Please wait a few minutes and open the link again.
Ensure that the default account you used to sign into your browser is the same as used to sign up for the Bento Beta Google group.
Ensure that your play store account is using the same email you used to sign up for the Bento Beta Google group
If all else fails, please email [email protected]
Joined beta group from site without at hitch, got from Play, installed and ran. Playing with this, looks quite interesting. Later, google+ did not have me in the "community" so requested that as well.
First and second reactions:
1. Intriguing concept. Looks like it belongs in Ubuntu.
2. Weather card should be location-based (maybe it is). Default units should be locale based. How to set up?
3. To facilitate testing, might be better as a launcher overlay rather than a full launcher. But it is very easy to switch homes from settings (was not always the case). Actually, it will run as an app except that the app-drawer or screen from which it is run remains visible behind the app folders.
4. App runs as app from app-drawer or folder. Runs (and labeled as) Bento Settings from Bento's app drawer. So found how to get my Celcius and km. Cannot place Bento Settings on the folders.
5. A refresh (or "more") button on cards pane might be in order. Can be mostly blank for long periods of time.
6. Got a "tomorrow" card. Never got "today."
7. Quickly learned how to arrange the folders, add, remove apps. More-or-less just like current stock launchers.
8. Like it or not, we are still part of the Google universe (though Cyanogen/Microsoft and Rational would like to change that). So normal calendar, maps, google+ will be around and should fit in. Google Now should also fit into this scheme.
9. Problem on my ArmV6 dinosaur: Cannot use Google's off-line speech recognition which will crash. I get text into Google Now using a voice search wrapper widget which links with older VoiceSearch on-line recognition (that app also did phone searches like Bento!). Voice input to keyboards, most apps crashes. There is a settings->language&input->voice-recognition choice which should be polled and respected. When Bento has more traction, might persuade the wrapper's dev to do a version that feeds Bento's searchbox intent.
10. The thing has no clock. On other launchers I use chronus so took the clock off status bar. Bento runs immersive mode anyway. (Another reason this is more and app than a launcher.)
11. Getting typed text into search bar is problematic sometimes. KB comes up but does not enter.
More to come ...
Hi,
I have both installed on my phone. I was wondering what's the difference between the two? Should I use APKPure to download some apps because they are not coming from Google Server,, so less safer(?). While Aurora Store I heard is linking directly from Google Play Store..(safer?) I can also go to Play Store but which means I need to unfreeze using Icebox. Which is extra 30min of work every few days.
Cheers
Apkpure seems to be where most the apps are recommended even by Huawei Petal Search
At least search for apps using petal search (via app gallery)
Then let Apkpure do the updates
Having looked at options, I mean with app gallery there is an app called petal search which will eradicate the need for alternative apk platforms, its a hub which searches all other hubs for you, kinda like toys R us
With the latest app updates, some G-app (like Duo, Keep, …etc) got this message “App won't run without google play services, which are missing from your devices … INSTALL”, even though "Google Play Services" is installed with the latest version. Sometimes games are stuck at the loading screen like “ActionTaima..” because the game can't access Google Services correctly. The workaround solution was to find & revert back to the proper/previous version & Uninstall/re-install them, whenever G-store updates them automatically. It's kinda annoying
After research, trailer & error, I found that updating “Google Services Framework”, does solve this issue. I presume, latest G-app deals with “Android 11+”, therefore, Google Services Framework must be updated in order to match with it.
1) Download Google Services Framework 11-6684105
2) Install & enable Autostart & Reboot your system.
I'm glad to hear any other methods or solutions
I'm not sure if this will help, I recall getting the same problem on my emulators some time back, and was able to resolve it by downloading Google Play Games, and in doing so, that forced the Play Services to update. Maybe it will help?

For android emulator on PC, I believe it should be just fine. If got any issues , just enabling root feature, & try to manipulation with system on emulator or add 3rd party app to modify. FYI, I was using MEmu on PC.

As far as I know, google play services is updatable and google MAP can be used normally.
However, accessing location/map with 3rd app party (such as WhatsApp ...etc ) has multiple scenarios;;
- View "received map" from other == Perfectly Working !!
- Locate your current location == Working ( but a black screen, just point GPS and send ) !!
- Navigate the map to select different location == Not working (Just black screen)
I suggest you open a new thread, so people can hopefully share & react to the issue.
my google services is updated to latest version. still encountering the play services error. google keep and google pay keeps looking for google play services. even mcdonalds app is looking for it.
Hi,
I have a new Ulefone Armor X9 Pro. I am personally annoyed by all the preinstalled Google Apps like Google Play (I prefer free softwares available in FDroid for example), the Google search bar on the home screen, etc...
The first thing I did is disable and force exit of all the google apps and now, whatever I try to do I have notifications telling anything would work with Google Play disabled...
Even writing a sms or search something in Google Chrome is not possible because the keyboard does not appear...
I think I could solve this problem by
- enabling Google Play back
or
- download apk files for fdroid, aptoid etc. and install them manually
or
- root the phone
or
- install an alternative android version
But I am a newbie and I am afraid of broking my new phone...
Could you help me find the better way to use my phone without being force to use google services ?
Thank you for your help
PS sorry for my poor english
You can replace the pre-installed proprietary Google apps basket ( read: GMS ) by an aftermarket suite called GApps as provided by different developers.
BTW: Google Play is not part of GMS.
Thank you for your answer.
But I cannot uninstall the google apps, I can only quit them and disable them.
And the final goal is to not use the google apps.
Fortunately, I succeeded in manually install the alternative apps I need.
First of all, when I first started the phone, I did not connect the internet.
Then, I exited and disabled all the google apps and services I found.
On my computer, I downloaded the apks :
- Fdroid package manager (for free/opensource apps)
- Fennek browser
- K9mail client
- Simple Contacts (Simple Mobile Tools)
- Simple Camera (Simple Mobile Tools)
- Simple Gallery (Simple Mobile Tools)
- Simple Phone (Simple Mobile Tools)
- Simple Keyboard (Apache)
I transferred them on the phone by USB and installed each manually.
After that I installed Aptoid to install Telegram.
Everything seems to work, google apps and services seems to not restart automatically and after I disabled all apps saying "App xxx cannot work without Google Play" I dont have notifications like this anymore.
By default pre-installed GMS - what you call Google apps for whatever reason - are installed as system-privileged apps hence they are part of Android system and not any ordinary user app. You need a rooted Android to uninstall system-privileged apps, same is with Google Play components.
