What are some of the easiest phones to make ROMs for?

I'd recommend to start with a popular phone which has been released about 1 year ago and is still supported by many developers and the manufacturer.
Press Thanks if I helped you

Are any brands easier than others (Samsung, Motorola, htc)?

Cool considering you can only "build" roms from source. They are all the same pretty much. Will need to learn some Linux and java.

Android Visual Development

Hi All,
Is there any way to develop ROMs using software like VISUAL STUDIO/
Thanks!
I'm asking because I am not so good in Coding
Did you try the currently available tools? I feel that open source tools for development in Linux or cygwin are usually only text based.

Can you please provide me the link which you are talking about?
Thanks!
I am still waiting for someone to help me out ....
you can google for "UOT Kitchen". I haven't tried, but I heard you can make your own ROM online using the tool.
if you want to build from scratch, you need to know a lot about programming. and I don't think there is an integrated visual tools for that.

Hey guys, I am new to THRiVE development, but not new to development in general. I have a CM10 build that boots.
WiFi and External storage are not working at the moment, but overall it is functional. I'll let you know when I have more. Also, head over to thriveforums.org for more information.

Yes I'd say it is far too early to request such a thng. It has been 24 hours, give devs a chance to read the news. You can bet yourself there will be devs flocking to this phone now so its merely a matter of time before we get all the great ROMs. Be patient though, we haven't even gotten a custom kernel not designed using kexec yet.

I will be setting up a build environment too soon. There are a few guides around in the internet on how to compile.
It is recommended you have Ubuntu, but not the latest version because of back compability issue compiling. Also you need 50-100 gb of free space and a decent processor to handle all the work.

Help PLEASE

Hello everyone,
I would like to start by saying I'm totally new to this world, so I ask that you hang in there with me. Ok
So I just rooted my Samsung sch-r820 (galaxy admire 4g) with metro pcs.
I want to update my software. I install clockworkmod but it seems not to be working.
I tried cyanmod but my device is unsupported. So my question is can i even update anything. Or am i stuck with gingerbread til i buy a new device.

By doing a quick Google search I couldn't find any development for this device here at XDA. So probably there won't be any CWM recovery/CyanogenMod ports for this model. Also don't try installing CWM recovery or CyanogenMod mentioned for other devices, as doing it so will brick your device.
I was wondering if I could use the Samsung admire info do you know?

Not sure what you meant by Samsung Admire Info?!
I know your device is Samsung Admire 4G, but what exactly do you want to modify in it? If you are looking for ICS ports, the chances for it will be quite less considering its not much popular device.
Yes i want ics

Samsung Admire, or Galaxy Admire ... both should be same.
Samsung Galaxy Admire has 800Mhz processor and Admire 4G has 1Ghz, so as there is a change in hardware most likely it won't work. You may need to port the ROM to Admire 4G in order for it to work.
I have no idea what port is or how to do it. Thank you for taking the time out and helping me.

Yeah, porting is something beyond the scope of what you've asked. Anyways if interested you can always have a look for Tutorials in XDA University, as there are tons of them. Good luck and have a nice day. :good:
