[Q] working on phone and hptp from Linux - General Questions and Answers

Hello All;
It seems Linux has had a file handling change from init to systed or something along those lines so the tools I want to use don't work now. Is anyone using 64bit Debian 7, that can help me set up for working in the HP touchpad and Verizon galaxy nexus?

How do I install Android SDK tools?
I am trying to setup a build enviornment to build from source. It is freaking confusing to setup, anyone willing to help me?

Ubuntu and P3100

Hello. I want to ask is it possible to run ubuntu on SGTab2? I mean pure desktop ubuntu, not mobile one, nor as virtual machine. All instructions I found deals with Nexus 7. The best will be installing Ubuntu as dualboot to Android(I'm using NEXT kernel, it supports dualboot). Does anybody know how to install it? Or maybe somebody even tried it?
Thank you for answer

Is there a way to make P3110 run Linux natively [chroot free]

The title says it; Is there a way to make P3110 run Linux natively [chroot free]?
P3110 is ARM and there is allot of Linux distributions compatible with it like Ubuntu or arch even kali linux, but the problem is with the kernel, some devices received official Linux like galaxy note 10.1 got an official kali, some were successful installing unofficial builds to other devices but the Internet failed me when I searched for P3110....
Does anyone know if some was able to do such a thing? If not does anyone know of a good reading materials to do so? I think it's a good project if some expert can adopt it!
Thanks in advance

[Completed] Looking to run Linux distro alongside android?

Dear XDA,
So I have a non-rooted Galaxy S7 Edge (exynos varient) and a Nexus 7 2012 (grouper) rooted running CM 14.1.
I am looking for away to run linux, specifically something debian related to run some arm based software and to interface with my linux partion on pc via ssh or direct connection. I plan on running hpc applications such as openfoam, paraview or blender to visualize (if possible) and analysis software like octave and scilab along with c++ and python scripts. I want to be able to also use my devices camera or usb port to passthrough usb devices and sensors.
I have gnuroot debian which is a p-root of debian jessie running on my s7 edge while I have linux deploy on my nexus which is a chrooted environment. I am wondering if anyone knows if p-root and chroot are the same and can they do what I need to? if not is there a way to natively "dual-boot" android and a linux distro?
Thanks for any assistance!

Hello,
I think this could work. [APP] Linux-on-Android project (Complete Linux Installer). It isn't exactly Dual boot but it may suit your purpose.

What phones can you install Fedora on?

Hi,
Besides PinePhone what other mobile phones are there available where I can install Fedora instead of android rom's?
I heard someone did it with Volla Phone + Fedora. However, I can't seem to find anything on installing Fedora on mobile phones. I can find Ubuntu Touch website where they detail whats supported, that's cool and all. But how to install it on mobiles for other linux distros such as Fedora? surely you can compile some kernel and install other linux distros like Fedora right?
Please help me understand.

pmOS may interest you. I have never seen Fedora on a phone. pmOS is based on Alpine, but anything supported by it has a better chance of running Fedora than anything not supported by it. Some of these devices have mainline kernel support, which helps a lot with getting stuff running on it.
