[Q] Please answer please - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Hi xda developers , I am pleased to be here
I have only one question and hope to get an answer for it
you know the Samsung Galaxy S4 came with new Smart features like Smart Scroll , pause , etc ...
is these features related to the S4 hardware itself , or just something is concerning with it's software?
if that related to it's Hardware , so no way to port that to another android device like S3
but if that related the the Software , so all android devices will get the smart features which is the S4
the S4 android version is 4.2.2 as you know , and S3 has now 4.2.1 and 4.2.2 , so the software is the same
so why the smart features is not working on S3? I know the 4.2.2 is just leak for S3 and not official but at least has the same features of S4 except the smart features
the second thing is if tat related to the S4 front camera and the proximity sensor , so it must work on S3 because S3 has the two things
I sow in android 4.2.1 which on the Samsung update site GT-I9300 ILO I9300XXUFMB3 after I flashed it on my S3 when I long press the smart stay icon I get 4 features :smart scroll , pause stay and rotation
but scroll and pause is not working , why that?
and I found a custom rom in this nice site called "Glamour S4" with all S4 features , but just icons and text , not working.
so is that features will not work in S3 or what? because if it will not work , I will buy S4 , but if it will work, then when that and with custom rom or official ?
please help me because I am from long time ago I am searching for that
by the way!
some developers in Israel name" Umoove" talked about Eye Tracking technology and I watched a video which shows the eye tracking seems to smart scroll working on s3
and some other teal developed same technology called "TheEyeTribe" but nothing is out yet
so please answer me if it will run on S3 or it is not available now?
thank you

your post makes me think youre in the wrong forum. do you have a verizon S3 or an international version?

OK your post is confusing as you don't specify if you have the international S3 or the US version. All those features are for the S4 and possibly the note 3 so they won't work on any version of the S3 without a third-party app.

Well he's on the international s3 cuz he flashed the 4.2.1 ROM from Samsung and obviously didn't brick.
This is the wrong forum, but to answer your question, yes that is mostly hardware limitations.

[Discussion] Note3 REAL developing

Hi there ,,
this is just a discussion thread to talk about Note 3 developing stuff ( Share thoughts , ideas , info's ... ex.. )
We all know that our beloved Note 3 is (currently) the most powerful device on the market ,, however we didn't see any really developing ROM till now ,,i mean AOSP ROM , or big names ROMs like CM , MIUI , AOSPA .. and so on ..
no offense to all Note 3 ( current ) developers , but all available roms are based on Stock sam. firmware with mods ,, i know alot of people like stock samsung firmware and the way the pen communicate with the system ,, but Heey! we are on XDA PEOPLE !!
anyway , i know the difficulties and the knox 0x0 problem is holding a lot of developers from doing anything :/
any way ,, what do you think guys ??
Regards
ps. any new about knox 0x0 ??
I'm no developer but I'd trip Knox to rid this beast of touchwiz.

Like you said yourself, it's difficult.
But they are developing, you can't just build an entire system in 2 months... It would be buggy as hell and would probably not support anything.
What I've read they are still waiting for Samsung to actually get a decent running system as well before they do anything big. Samsung is crapping out updates now for the Note 3 and it takes a lot of time to actually rewrite a ROM to support the new system.
The development is good on sd800 but not enough on exynos. Its not bcz of knox alone, the note series always have slow development as I saw this with note 2 but it paced up with time. A lot of developers are still on note 2 so wait for them to jump in.
I quite like the Touchwiz based roms, it's a brand new device though - an expensive one at that.
I'm sure in 2 or 3 months there will be loads of Roms.
if you didnt know CM has been working on something =o

[Completed] [Q]sprint s4 s5 style rom

Can someone make a s5 style rom for the sprint galaxy s4 sph_l720t that has things like the system ui and the ultra power saving mode i know those features and many others can work on the s4 because ive seen many s4 roms for verizon like that i just want one that is for sprint because i dont want to mess up my phone by installing a rom i know you can install verizon rom on the sprint s4 but i dont like it that you have to go to all this trouble including getting a aftermarket sms app i want a rom that works for the sprint s4 without all the trouble
Hi,
Then perhaps you should take the initiative and create your own rom? Anyone can do it with a little homework first. This section has many guides and tutorials that will help you from beginning to end,
Chef Central > Android
Then you'll not be inconvenienced like you are now.
Good luck! ?

I was wondering about z5....but so many people are compaling about that device. And I have had a z5 in my hand, and it took awfull photos (low light). I was breaking my s6's back panel, BUT I re purchased the s6 yesterday again. I have tried the 6.0 with it, and looks promising ( I love the manual camera shutter sped control).
come back. this is a cheap device already, ($300-350), and there is non better on the market what have this huge amount of features like s6 (with 6.0 )
Why would you go back to a device where your main issue is the OS? That's just wierd.
Get a Nexus if you want AOSP.
The CM13 you are referring to in your OP is a TEST build and should NOT be used as a daily driver. Bugs, things are broken / not working.
Sounds like you might wanna research some other phones / brands before jumping back to a device your not comfortable with IMO.

im asking what about new firmwares, have them fix major galaxy s6 issues like ram management?
Samsung will release the gs6' sourcecode after the marshmallow release. This will make the custom rom community much more effective. Looking forward
Edit @renolzSry: I meant kernel sourcecode

Link to this statement please? I only heard they will be releasing the kernel source code like they allways do.
Cheers!

Different firmware for a Samsung tablet

Hey there, I recently found out Samsung Galaxy Tab S4 will get a DeX mode and thought about how to get it on the previous flagship tablet of Samsung - Tab S3. I have one and I really think that DeX mode will be a nice thing to have on a tablet with a pen. We all know, that Samsung can add that feature later like it did with S9 camera functions on S8 with last firmware update. So there is the question: is it possible to install a Tab S4 firmware on a Tab S3? They have different screen ratio but that must be all differences out there. Maybe hardware home button also. I read about installing different firmware on Android tablets but often people said something like "the devices must be nearly identical to use the same firmware" and all that stuff. But really, the only thing that is really alarming me is the software buttons on Tab S4. I think they will float there for no reason if it si possible to install Tab S4 firmware on Tab S3. If you know something about a different firmware on Android device, please, tell me. Thanks.

It is possible to flash a firmware from a different device but they have to be of the same hardware chipset. For example, some models of US versions of Galaxy S3 can share each others firmware, but the S4 cannot use the S3 firmware.
But, generally speaking(95% of the time or more) flashing a firmware from a different device results in a hardbricked device. This is mostly due to differences in bootloader and modem. I have a Galaxy S3 SCH-S968C(Straight Talk) that can use the custom ROMs from the SCH-I535(Verizon) because they are virtually the same device BUT the SCH-S968C CANNOT flash the SCH-I535 stock firmware, it results in a hardbricked device, even though they are the exact same device.
There is no definitive answer to your question other than it is "possible" to use another firmware. But it is ALWAYS a special case scenario because you have to research the devices in question to see exactly how similar they are or are not.
There are cases of devices from one country being used in another country by flashing the firmware from the country the device is being used in, but it is not possible on ALL devices.
