Hi all
I bought HTC J Butterfly from Tokyo and now trying to get it working in Finland.
We have tried the x920d RUU, but the 2G does not work properly with that.
Now we are thinking that maybe we could install the x920e RUU and test if it can be the solution.
Could someone share the x920e /dev/block/mmcblk0p5 and RUU ?

The phone is SOFF and rooted with cwm recovery and su_buzybox.
It seems that x920e ruu is needed for proper 2G function.
Maybe droid dna ruu might help but the model id needs to be changed first and therefore the block file is needed.

If you have new hboot (2.00.002) and you are S-OFF, it means your phone has hardware S-OFF, using XTC clip. You don't have to unlock it. You can do right about everything with your phone without unlocking it.
So why is this

Try 'fastboot oem unlock'
Some first gen phone's were s-off to start with. Don't quote me on that, I'm guessing.

Because s-off/s-on and locked/unlocked are 2 different things. Trust me being s-off'ed by xtc clip is more then enough, you can install anything you want. I have a phone like that. Don't unlock, there is no need for that. You can flash any RUU if you want so and still stay s-off and then flash any custom rom, and then RUU again... I've done that all more then once.

Since your phone already is s-off,
You can root it now using a tool like superoneclick or something else.

Agree with the above.
What I personaly did is installed latest RUU 2.10.401.9 just to have the latest hboot and radio (since I have xtc clip s-off, I stayed s-off). Then rooted it with one click tool, flashed latest 4ext recovery and installed my favorite custom rom.

Is it necessary to take nandroid backup before rooting or we can simply backup our appz

Are you kidding?? Already told you.
If it's already s-off, root it with superoneclick, install recovery like 4ext or cwm, backup everything and flash roms like it's going crazy.
Search the forums, it's written a hundret times everywhere!#!

Maybe you will not lost S-off, but even if you lost it, you can repeat s-off steps as u did before.
But what I'm sure about you have to root it again and lost OTA update
