[Q] Custom ROM: Device without hw keys, apps think i have hw menu button - General Questions and Answers

I have Samsung N8013. Installed PACman rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=43446709
In apps like Play Store, Google Now or Skype I don't have software menu button (three dots). I guess thats because "ViewConfiguration.get(context).hasPermanentMenuKey()" is true, which is false. I wonder what should I do to tell rom that I do not have hardware menu button.
EDIT:
Ok, I have found a setting under AOKP settings: Settings > ROM Control > General UI > Show Menu UI Overflow.
Maybe it'll help someone in the future.

Remove Settings Tab from Home Screen Tab Slider

Question: how do I remove the "Settings Tab" from the Home Screen Tab Slider?
I can get to the Settings by pressing the Windows-Logo physical button at the bottom of the phone and then choosing Settings... hence I don't need the Settings Tab on the slider. In Settings > Personalize > Home Screen Tabs ... can un-tick all but Home and Settings ... I want to do the equivalent of un-ticking Settings.
tried searching but get lots of results on how to get rid of everything else but the settings tab.
ANSWER: found it
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > HTC > Manila > Configuration > # (where # is a number from 0 to 16 based on where you have the Settings Tab in the Home Screen Tabs slider order)
Name-----------Data
================
Enable..............1
PageName.........Manila://settings.page
Title.................Settings
Change the Enable to a 0 (00000000)
WARNING: will need to re-enable this flag to add and remove tabs to the Home Screen Tabs slider ... but good way to stop someone from playing with my phone and adding the twitter addition.
You cant get rid of it (and it makes sense). Tell me p.ex. how you would access the windows-settings without the tab (unless you didnt activate "show normal settings in startmenu" via BSBTweaks or similar). Thats the reason why HTC made in untickable.

Click to collapse
Couldn't you just click start and select Settings, even with a stock HD2?
Hi there.. How do we make the icons under Settings screen to be in alphabatic order..?
Ooops
I thought I have a smart idea...
The hint with removing the settings tab in the slider brought me to an other point.
I was always annoyed be the Home-Tab. I dont need it, since I can reach the home screen with the Home key (hardware key). So it is redundant. At lease I thought so.
I removed the Home-Tab - it worked immediately! And from that moment on the I couldn't reach the homescreen anymore.
Conclusio: Good Tweak - with unexpected result.
At least I am no longer annoyed by the home tab.

Enabling USB Debugging mode

Hi guys,
I guess my question is so basic - I can't find an answer to it.
but here it goes:
I got a brand new Transformer Pad TF300T.
Obviously root is needed.
I have an android phone (Galaxy S) so I'm used to this OS (pretty much).
on my TF300T I cant find some "settings" options.
I don't have Settings --> applications
I only have Settings --> apps
and that leads to running/downloaded/all apps and nothing more.
so I don't have Settings --> Applications --> Development --> ...
I'm sure I'm missing something.
can anyone please help and tell me how can I get to the Normal settings?
(or at least to the USB debugging mode)
also, I have NO idea where the "menu" key is. only "back", "home", "recent apps" available.
where can I find the "menu" key?
I added some photos to better express myself.
thanks!
Forgive my Ignorance!
but I have found a solution to one of my problems.
to Enable USB Debugging mode:
Settings --> Developer options --> USB debugging.
still 1 problem remains:
where is the "menu" (middle?) button?...
thanks!
USB Debug: Settings -> Developer options; It's the top option
Menu key: This is being deprecated in Ice Cream Sandwich in favor of an in-app menu button. For apps that require a menu button, 4 horizontal lines will appear next to the Recent Apps button in the task bar.

[Q] Spreadtrum how to back in app

Hellow,
I Have a Chinese Spreatrum with Mocordroid
I have a great doubt and issue, when i enter in some app, like appmgr or settings, "I can not go back in menu"
For example, I go to
"Settings" > Applications > Development > USB Settings
Then i change some option
So how i can back one step? Like:
"Settings" > Applications > Development
Because Sound Buttons, not, menu button no, center button no, right button not, two taps in touch never,
So the app stay freezed on running process,
The only way that im in is Kill Task in Running Services :crying:
Maybe there have some app or someway to do , but how?
Another question, there is a easy way to exit an app ?

[Completed] [Q] How to force Overflow Menu Button

Device: Nokia XL
Android Version: 4.1.2
Current ROM: [miniROM Kitkat Wannabe
My device has only 1 hardware button (back button)
Along with Xposed Framework and Xposed Additions, I managed to use Home and Recents with that only key.
But still can't manage to get the Menu Key function.
On other ROMs, when I enable Navigation Bar, I get Overflow Menu Button automatically, but in this ROM, I didn't get it... Also this ROM is better than others
I've tried the following things:
1. UDN [not satisfied, because it's tricky and takes alot time to operate(in my opinion)]
2. GravityBox (as I said, Navigation bar doesn't make Overflow Menu Button, neither that Miscellaneous Tweaks >> Force overflow menu button >> Force enable worked
So, I just want to know how I can get Overflow Menu Button on my ROM?
I'm a Newbie, I don't understand those difficult steps
Hi, thank you for using XDA Assist. The best palce to ask this question is here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/nokia-x/help They are the experts on your device.

[Q] CM13 - Feature missing? Long-press-action for home button

Good Morning!
I managed to flash CM 13.0-20160705-NIGHTLY on my xt1032 (11.0-2014-09-04 before ) yesterday, everything seems to be working fine for now.
But i am missing one feature (or maybe i am too blind?): the long-press-action for the home button...
Here how it was before on CM11: Settings > Buttons > HOME BUTTON - Long press action
Problem is, i do not have any options to define a long press action to any button in the buttons-menu.
Could somebody of you please check if its the same on your CM13?
A screenshot of the menu Settings -> Buttons would already be helpful
I placed that question on the CM-forums, which resultet in a solution:
Long-press-action on homebutton has been replaced, now gets you to Google now. Not modifiable. And crappy.
