Nexus 4 or HTC One Google Edition - Android General

May seem like a straight forward common sense answer but I used to own the Nexus 4 but plan on going back to Android all together. Is there any real difference between the HTC One Google Edition from the Nexus 4? I prefer stock android. My downfall on the Nexus 4 were the speakers, it didn't have that much output is tthe HTC One significantly louder?

Go down to an AT&T (Or preferred carrier) store and play with the sense skinned one. Then you'll get a sense of the sound output from it and see if it is a significant enough upgrade for you to make the jump.

HTC Google Edition.
Better hardware. No difference between the OS. Same stock android .
So the point of comparision is of hardware in which HTC wins.

[Q] Google Nexus S and HTC Desire HD

Hi guys. I am planning to buy one of those phones listed above. Please help me decide. I dont know what to buy. I love Samsung google nexus S but ive seen so manyy nega feedbacks about it. what are the pros and cons of HTC desire HD and Samsung Google Nexus S. Please help me guys. About the software, is there any issue on google nexus S? and is google nexus S gonna get every update on android? and how about desire HD?
THANKS IN ADVANCE!
CHEERS!
For me the Nexus S is the more desirable of the two because it is stock Android. I just don't see the need for Sense bloatware...but that's just me

yes but the desire is very easy to root and S-off so you can get it to stock pretty easily using a rom like cyanogen 7
my friend has a nexus S and i still like my DHD better even if it is from a purely aesthetic point of view, performance is pretty much the same @ stock but i think the nexus responds to overclocking better than the DHD thats if you actually plan on overclocking.
The HTC Desire HD has HTC Sense HD.... its great!
And you have SOFF and Root so you can put plan Android on it.
U can do this at the Nexus S too but i think the Desire HD is the better Phone! Just because of Sense and its look
thats a touph decision, they are both great phones.
buy them both.
I cant afford to buy them both.. im still a 16 yr old student andd i have two phones. i am planning to sell them and buy nexus S. andd have another with a black and white screen :|
Im thinking rly hard for these, i like the design of Nexus S and its pure android. i can get each and every update that will be released on the next months. i also like DHD but its design is a no no for me.typical rectangular shaped phone and im also worried about its updates because DHD might not get future updates.
Naaah, im really confused.
Thanks for your replies sir *salutes*
EDIT: and also ive heard that the battery of the HTC desire HD sucks. what should i do? help please. thanks!
Nexus S = no sd card
Is it true that the Nexus S has no SD Card slot? That would be the deal breaker for me to not get that phone.
Get a Hd2, the most customizable phone going, you can then use a desire or froyo or gingerbread rom, or even wp7 if you fancy it.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
If I could choose between Nexus S, DHD and HD2, i would definately take the HD2! Hardware of the DHD and HD2 are nearly the same and it costs only half of the DHD. You can choose out of many OS's and the Android-feeling on the HD2 is native.
If you want a short answer:
There is no big difference between these phones, only the price matters.
First I wasn't sure if I should by the DHD or HD2 and I took the latter. A used HD2 but in very good condition for 180€ is a fair price. And DHD for 450€ is too expensive for me as a 17y old student ;D

suggest me android smart phone

i got 3 option
HTC Desire
HTC Incredible S
Google Nuxes S
i am from pakitan so the price for desire is 42K, Nuxes S for 44K and Incredible S is available for 46K
please suggest me, which cell should i buy.
The incredible S without doubt.
It is larger than the Desire (similar size to Desire HD). The Desire is just "old" compared to the other two and the Nexus S is a Samsung and I don't like Samsung phones (hardware and software, the former you can't do much about).
It depends really. Is this your first android phone?
One thing you might take for granted for example is that it will display Arabic characters but it doesn't. It is the top problem on Google's issue tracker at the moment but I have no idea of when they'll fix it. It is possible to get browsers such as opera that can display the characters correctly though.
On another point the Nexus S is a pure Android phone and as such is quite bare compared to HTCs. I have one myself but I did miss the selection of widgets that HTCs come with by default such as the mobile network on / off one. The last time that I looked none of the ones in the market worked on gingerbread.
If you're a new user I'd probably suggest the Incredible and perhaps something in the Nexus line for your next phone after that
thanks baz & jmm
yes this is my first android phone but i don't need Arabic support coz i can use set in english. so u guys suggesting me HTC Incredible S....
Absolutely, no question, HTC Incredible S.
Incredible S!
well HTC now is one of most popular brand, i think same like the others,HTC Incredible S

I would buy the Nexus S in a heartbeat, It would be the best of them. It is Google's version of the iPhone in quality and superior hardware. Those others don't really compare to it. The Nexus S is the only one with Android 2.3 (Gingerbread). The other two are still on 2.1 or 2.2. And the Nexus S is the only one to have a genuine gyro.
@MartyLK
thanks for reply
dude if u r just talking about OS then incridable S is also getting Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) in June so no big deal for me to use 2-3 months old os there is difference of FM radio, camera and sound ......
and incredible S also getting Sense UI 3.0 with Gingerbread
I would buy Incerdible S absolutly
thanks guys.....
i just unboxed my Incredible S.....
Incredible S for sure !!!!!!!!
Why the incredible s but not the desire s?? They are very similiar!! The community is too small for the DS...

I find it to be the most overrated phone out there.
Good, maybe great, but nothing amazing.
+1 for the Incredible S
I love HTC and I'm a big fan of Sense as well (assuming that you root the phone and run sense 3.0 or a 2.1/3.0 mix)

Nexus S vs Desire S vs Motorola Defy ?

I want a new Android phone with a single cpu and slightly smaller package:
1. Nexus S seems to pack a 4" screen into not such a big package
2. Desire S is the nicest construction and nice and compact but the screen is a bit dim
3. Motorola anyone ?
Anyone had the first two, or all three, (or any other recommendations) and can comment ?
thanks

I would say get the Nexus S. I don't think the Desire S is worth it with the Desire HD and Z out (but the HD isn't exactly a "small package".)
Stay away from Motorola. Motoblur will make you want to pull your hair out and their designs and build quality are subpar (Aside from the OG Droid).

I have a Nexus S and love it. It is a no-nonsense phone that is simple in operation and packs in the latest user tech...FFC, NFC, Gyroscope etc. The feel and build quality is very good. But I did have to exchange one out for a common fault in the display.
Think of the Nexus S as Google's version of an iPhone. I also have a few HTC products. And though they are fine and well made, the Nexus seems to excel on design and simplicity.
I don't like the Defy so I wouldn't consider it. A Droid, I would consider.
Of the 3 you list, the Nexus gets my vote. But that's because I already have plenty of HTC phones. It might be different if I didn't. Nevertheless, I love having the FFC, NFC and gyro, whether or not I use them.
Nexus S. Definitely Nexus S. I have a Defy and am very happy with it (I immediately flashed it to remove Blur of course), but if you have the money for a Nexus, go for it. Played with it again today at a store. Man is that thing sleek.
Though if smallness is important to you... the Defy is the smallest. It really makes good use of the real estate, it's pretty much all display. Flash it with Cyanogen and you're golden.
if you are the type of person who wants official updates right away, nexus s is your type of phone

+1 HTC DESIRE S All the way
great phone, great feel, right size, can be rooted and S-OFF'd
(But then again, I'm biased!)
Nexus Prime, if you can wait.
One other thing to consider is the Nexus S is extremely easy to root. The only issue I had with mine was getting the drivers installed for it in Vista. After that the rooting process was simple.
I have the brother (SGS) and I prefer Nexus S instead any HTC.

None, go with the One S. HTC has the best UI and the One S has basically the same hardware as the Galaxy Nexus, plus it has a better sized screen.
Galaxy Nexus
ONE S !!!
Galaxy nexus for me. I like the fact that you can have the updates before everyone else because it's a google phone

Haha, yeah sure. My nexus s was on 4.0.3, while galaxy nexus was on 4.0.1... I would advice you the one s!
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk 2
the galaxy nexus is $400 from google unlocked which is only $150 more than the htc one s
so you get to stay off contract and cancel whenever you like.
However the htc one s has a much better camera, not only MP but also because htc added some tweaks and stuff
The one s also has sense 4 which is good if you're a fan of UIs.
The nexus is a google device which means it should get updates quicker than most phones unless you root and flash a custom rom
The htc one s also has a better feel because it's not as plastic-y AND COMES WITH WARRENTY FROM TMOBILE (which is very easy to claim)
EDIT: nexus has a better screen but one s has beats audio
nexus has nfc while the one s doesnt
if you like to mess with phones, i recommend the one s because of the easy warranty exchange with tmobile

Ons S is the best! but poor batteries
according to reviews in my country, one s has very good camera (high quality foto). Very hard choise You wanna have support from google, take nexus.
i would prefer one s
The CPU in the one S is much much faster then the one in the galaxy nexus. The 2 Krait cores perform as fast as or faster then the 4 tegra cores of the tegra 3. The Adreno 225 is also a powerful GPU.
Galaxy NEXUS FTW!!!!
Get the nexus
Here's why
1.The battery
2.NFC
3.NO UI
4.THAT GODDANG AMOLED
5.Updates and ROMS
Sent from my U8150 using XDA
In terms of physical looks, the ONE S looks better to me.
I guess you have to try it out, maybe read reviews too.
OS-wise, I suppose the Nexus would basically work like maybe a Galaxy S2 with CM9, the stock ICS experience.
Then on the ONE S theres Sense 4.
Theres the feel of the phone, is it comfortable to hold, the weight.
Does it feel good in your pocket.
Or you are the tweaker and have the knowledge to bend any of the phones, within its limits, to your liking.
For ONE S there should be less custom stuff to play with as its new.
And if you are an accessory fan, consider if the phone will be popular or not.
When I got my HTC Desire, no shops seem to be selling any case for the phone locally.
Luckily theres a free case from the telco but its 'barely there', in the end got one from eBay.
If you're ok with online shopping then its fine, I suppose.
It doesnt matter that HTC is the best or Galaxy Nexus is designed by Google its all about the Hardware and Software combination of the phone its advantages and disadvantages its performance and other things needs to be watched. So my choice is Galaxy Nexus.
Prefer one s. seremic body and UI will give you a perfect experience. Basically nexus is great. You will get the latest update and great camera shutter speed etc. But android growing fast. Time to feel new thing..

[Q] Looking into buying the Nexus 5 next month...

Hey guys,
I'm looking into buying the Nexus 5 as I feel like I want a much faster and more responsive Android experience and I also want to get a phone that is very well supported by the developers of XDA...
I have had both of the following handsets previously:
-HTC Wildfire(Buzz)
-HTC One V(PrimoU)
My biggest complaints about my previous handsets are that the Android experience is very slow, sloppy and HTC Sense'd meaning that to get an acceptable level of performance out of them they had to be rooted and flashed with 'close to Google' ROMs and because of the lack of developers that were interested in these devices they were relatively unstable even with their best ROMs.
My real question is pointed at users who currently have a Nexus 5 and had a relatively comparable phone to the HTC Wildfire or HTC One V, am I making the right move (based on what I've said) to buy the Nexus 5 and do you think that it's worth its money or are there better phones available in your opinion?
Absolutely get the N5.
I don't think there is a better option for a phone right now than the n5.

Well my mom had the One V. And that phone sucks if you compare it with the N5.
The Nexus5 is soooo much faster and better. And for this price you cant get a better phone at the moment.
It's almost perfect
I have had;
HTC hero
Nexus one (HTC)
HTC one X
Nexus 4
Getting my nexus 5 tomorrow.
The most comparable ones for me are going to be the htc one x to the nexus 4
The one x was a better phone than the one v that you have but still the jump to the nexus 4 was a massive upgrade in terms of performance and stability from the one x.
So you are going from a slower phone than I had to a faster phone than I have and I was happy with my upgrade so you should be very pleased with your new phone.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using xda app-developers app
I haven't had your exact previous phone, but I had a Droid 1 and GSII and I promise you, you'll love the N5, it's just an amazing piece of machinery, especially for the price.
If you're a tweaker/modder or someone who enjoys exploiting the android OS for all of it's open source worth then the N5 is by far the best device you could ask for as of right now in my honest opinion. If not, there are other devices with better hardware on a more powerful platform. For me.....I had to get the Nexus.

Absolutely get the N5. There's a world of difference between old non-Nexus phones like the HTC Wildfire and the Nexus 5, not to mention the Nexus devices are made to be modded. There's literally no device easier to mod than a Nexus, and if you don't want to mod, the Nexus's stock firmware is still way better than HTC Sense or Samsung TouchWiz.
I have had the GSII, Galaxy Nexus, GSII before. Ok, the last step from the GSIII was not that, but I am still very happy with the purchase.
