[Q] (TOTAL newbie here) after I do 1 click root, how do I go about downloading CM 10? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Hi, sorry I didn't post this in development...but I don't have enough posts to do so.
Anyway, I came from an iphone, and just got a galaxy s3, and I want to run CM 10.
After using this guide (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2332825),
How would I be able to run CM 10?
Thanks guys!

This is a question so you don't post this in development you post this in the Q& A section.

He meant make a post in the development thread. Not create a thread.

And just to answer your question there are stickies in the development section that help you with all your flashing needs. The only thing different from flashing a TW ROM than an AOSP ROM is that you need to flash the Gapps. But basically you need a custom recovery, after that download the ROM and Gapps and place them on your SD card. Not sure if the one click unlocks the bootloader (too lazy to check) but if it doesn't you need to unlock your bootloader. Once all that is done you boot into recovery, make a backup, wipe data, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, format system (OPTIONAL but RECOMMENDED), then install ROM, install Gapps, then reboot and you should be good to go.
Please note this is very basic guide and I don't go into much detail. So if you're confused check the stickies. I actually HIGHLY RECOMMEND checking them anyway. Lots of good stuff.

try using their website. it has all the information on there. if you want some of the unofficial builds you can pull one out of one the deverlopment thread sections. i hope you know how to flash a rom if not they got directions for that under the general support section or you can read through the threads on here. Beans is amazing for modifying the casual root method but i liked it so much better when odin was involved. there was just enough steps to keep people away from trying because they was afraid they would brick the phone.

I would recommend an app like goomanager where you can flash cm and gapps all at once and it appears to also give you the options to wipe before you install which is very handy and you can do it from the app which is great for beginners.

I follow the guides accordingly but can't require root. After unlocking bootloader do I need to s off first then root please help I can even pay
wrong section, you n00b.
flash a rooted custom rom via recovery, and you have the root access. you don't need to root until you want to keep your stock rom
read more, follow guides and watch this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JmvCpR45LKA
delete this thread.
thread shouldn't be here and there's tons of noob friendly guides to show you.
but to answer your question yes S-Off first

It is the wrong section because unlocking the phone or rooting it belongs in Q&A as you are asking a Question and need an Answer to get your problem solved.
It isn't a collaboration of people finding a way to make a s-on phone permanently s-off or unlocking a bootloader or giving it engineering capabilities for all of XDA. Therefore nothing is being developed.

as kohr-ah said it is in wrong section
and coming to the topic
as you are htc-dev unlocked
try my one click root tool..from my soff guide (link in my signature)
if you've unlocked your bootloader it should say (unlocked) at the top of the bootloader screen. you dont really need to s-off your phone just yet, if your phone has updated to ics it will already have the latest firmware already installed, so if i was you id install adb/fastboot then just use fastboot to flash your recovery instead of jumping to s-off you dont want to be messing that up
I think your in the wrong place if you have questions there's q&a part that you need to go

This is from the very first thread stating the rules for this forum
[MANDATORY] RULES FOR DEVELOPMENT Updated 21.03
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
THIS FORUM IS ONLY FOR RELEASING AND DEVELOPING ROMS AND KERNELS.
SOME GUIDES REGARDING S-OFF AND FLASHING WILL BE ALLOWED BUT MOST WILL BE LINKED IN A REFERENCE THREAD
•Try to keep the development forum CLEAN! No offtopic posting and no questions.
•Use the report button in an offending post to let us mods know we need to take action. Dont take matters into your own hands!!!
•Sources need to be posted for all kernels!!!
•You need to use TAGS like [ROM] or [KERNEL] and so on as used in all dev forums throughout XDA
•Any disputes between developers should be handled by pm. No public posting in a dev thread regarding these matters
•Rom issues should be discussed within their respective threads
•Thread titles should ALWAYS coincide with ROMS ALREADY AVAILABLE FOR DOWNLOAD!!! No advance notification of incoming ROM through thread title. A changelog for the yet unreleased Rom can be included in the OP or in another post CLEARLY MARKED as EXPECTED CHANGELOG
•Posting in the development section means automatic ACCEPTANCE of the above Rules
All posts that are NOT about ROM development, or development in general will be closed or deleted and posters that will choose to disregard the previous guidelines will be infracted.
As you can see only roms and kernels should be allowed in this thead. If you have a question it needs to go into the Q&A section or if it is about a particular rom that has been posted here it needs to go in that rom thread.
ok ok sorry
Ok I'm sorry if this post hurt your feelings because I posted in the wrong forum, I'm truly sorry ill take it down soon as I get home

[Q] Dual Boot - Using previous Nandroid Backup to Restore 2nd Rom?

Hi XDA,
My first post so I hope I have followed the correct procedures.
I have searched for this and haven't found anything that solves this.
My question is this:
I have a Nandroid backup of my PACMAN ROM on my SDCard (It has everything set perfectly to how I like and runs amazing).
Now I am going to fully wipe device and Dual Boot my device using a TW Rom (not sure which yet) as primary and PACMAN as secondary.
I wanted to know if I could restore my secondary rom (PACMAN) using the backup I have created previously?
If I need to do something specific (updating scripts or such) I am wiling to do so and i am not afraid of getting a bit deeper into this.
I have been following rlorange's thread, chenxiaolongs and Graraks also but nothing seems to address this.
Would it be possible to use rlorange's backup tool before I wipe (creating a 2nd backup of the same rom and its state) then use it to restore my 2nd ROM after flashing/dual booting?
Something tells me I can't but I just cant find enough info on this to answer this myself so I'm hoping you bright sparks could help me?
I hope thats not too n00by and thanks for reading

If you have a i9505, you should post in its Q&A forum, as someone may be able to give you better answers in that forum, due to their experience with such a device. IF you have any other device, you should mention details of it, even though your question is about using a Nandroid backup . posting in general discussions may not be wise IMHO or you can PM the member whose thread you are following or wish to follow for some guidance or doubts that you have.

Many thanks for the advice. I was under the impression as I'm very new I had to post here until I had 10 posts.

its only limited in development forums, to reduce spam and already addressed questions, that are found in Q&A forums for your specific device. SO you can always post in any other forum and mostly advised to post in your device specific Q&A forum for best answers
BTW you only have few more posts and post limitations are gone

Hi there!
I found this thread that should help. Has full instructions and the files you need.
Please read everything very carefully before doing anything. Good idea to read through the thread a bit too to see feedback from others.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1552792
Good luck!
---------- Post added at 12:13 PM ---------- Previous post was at 12:08 PM ----------
And I'll add....if you have further questions it would be best to ask in that thread. They know the device best. The instructions make sense to me, so just read carefully and follow the instructions to the letter.
You need 10 posts under your belt to post in it, so I suggest looking through your device section and commenting and adding "useful" posts where you can to get to you 10 post minimum, so you can post in the first thread I linked you to.
Here's your device section. http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-ace?nocache=1&z=674755906220525
If you have issues following the root guide, you could post a thread in the q&a section for your device as well. Will help get your list count up.
Just be very detailed, like the exact issues/errors you got trying to root.
Didn't work

That's the way it needs to be done. So more details would help to know what the issue is.....however, XDA assist is here to show people where to find what they're looking for....not technical support.
You will need to ask in the sections I linked you to, and/or get your posts up to 10 by contributing to the threads in your section, then ask in the thread for rooting I linked. But again, people need specific details to assist....."didn't work" doesn't give us much to go on.
The people in your phone section know how to handle issues on your device best. I'm sure you will find help there. ?

I'm not sure if you're rooted....but reading a few other things leads me to believe most 4.3 custom ROMs work with tethering as well. ?

Thank you for quick reply, my Galaxy is Root if i could give me a guide how to install a Rom you agradesere
This is the section for your device.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-note-2-att
Look through the Android Development and Original Development threads. Read the opening posts of ROM threads, see what appeals to you and read the instructions carefully.
My advice tho....knowledge is power with this stuff....and misunderstanding can mean doom for your device. I'd read some of the stickies at the top of the General and Q&A sections and learn about this stuff before you do it. (Stickies are the threads with thumb tack icons beside them)
Life will be far smoother if you understand what you're doing before you do it.
Enjoy!

[Completed] HTC One m7 here, no custom ROMs will work, no ROM installed, backups lost...

any tips on why every ROM I install crashes after boot or won't install at all? I've tried CWM and TWRP with Cyanogenmod, aopk, MIUI.
Hi!
I see you've already asked in the general Android forum. But you'd be better served asking in your devices section, found here...
> HTC One > One Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting
Just be sure tho that you've followed the flashing instructions exactly. Sound like you're missing a step perhaps.
Good luck!
yeah
all ROMs are a zip file with three sub folders and a boot.img, right? i've tried so many, i fgure there must be a partition that's not getting wiped or something.
Again, you need to ask in the correct forum as linked above.
XDA Assist is here to point you in the right direction, but not for support.
Ask in the thread I linked and someone should be able to help, that knows your device best.
---------- Post added at 10:44 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:39 PM ----------
Also....be very descriptive in your post....list any errors or what happens exactly. Will speed up the troubleshooting. ?
