iBolt xPro Dock - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 4 General

Be cautious when purchasing this iBolt dock for automobiles if you plan to use a Google Edition ROM.

There is no option to enable music to ouput with the supplied cable. It does work with TW and I have done everything that I know to try and get it to work. Just wanted to save someone the headache that I have went through.

I have the xPro Dock and previous dock series. I have not tested with the Google Edtion, but the audio out DOES work with LiquidSmooth ROM.

If you still want AOSP, CM10.1 supports dock audio. I had to enable it under Settings-Advanced-Sound: "Use Dock USB Audio". Works great with my iBolt X-Pro dock.
This setting also made the iBolt Dock and Drive app start working automatically when I plug it into the dock. Previously the app wouldn't auto-start.

Hello Snakecharmer 23, Is there any way you can make a video for us showing how the CM10.1 works and describe the whole thing, including showing the USB audio? We here at iBOLT would love to share this as the Google Play phones are indeed stripped of "DockMode" (no clue why...). It works best to film a phone shortly before sunset so the contrast in the car is good, see our video here for an example... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oKu-8nSD_Ro&feature=c4-overview&list=UUf8Ah8orl0Ek3XcjC7sWWOA We'll give you some free products too for helping Thanks. You are correct in that the Google Play store phones have the DockMode removed. However, it appears that our iBOLT dock's are working again when you install the Galaxy Dock Sound direct, see https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.muteheadlight.dockredir Can you check and report back to us if that is indeed the case? Thanks! MikaelPe - iBOLT

After a few more days of use, I've noticed that even though I can route audio through the iBolt cable, the app isn't 100% compared to when I used it with TouchWiz.
1. When I press my home button, it brings me back to my regular home screen instead of back to the iBolt app.
2. While I am in the Dock and Drive app settings page, pressing the "HTC/Samsung Dock Settings" button causes the app to crash. This is likely due to there being no compatible setting within CM10.1.
If I find the time to make a video, I'll reply here in this thread.

Splashtop

Hey guys. I just downloaded Splashtop and am pretty excited about the possibilities this thing potentially creates with the Xperia Play.
First of all: can anyone point me to a guide that will tell me exactly how/which ports to forward in order for me to access my desktop from a network other than my home WiFi one?
Second: is there any way to program the Xperia Play's buttons into something like Xpadder? Splashtop will run anything that supports a windowed mode, so if I could get the controls mapped, I could play my ICEnahnced GTAIV on my freakin' cell phone. Anyone know if this is possible?
Any other applications for the Splashtop app you'd like to share? Thanks for the input guys.
i am interested to.

Dude, this program looks awesome!
EDIT: oh there's a solution for the local wi fi thing...hmmm
I was checking it out on the market, reading up on it....and was literally about to buy it---- until I saw that it only works on local wi fi?
That gives me pause....I don't know if it's truly worth a **** if thats true...
Do you think they're going to enable non-local wi fi or 3g in the future?
---------- Post added at 01:57 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:01 PM ----------
Okay, I bought it off the market and have it loaded up...
And I have no freaking clue where to start. What types of games work well with this type of "remote-gaming" setup? Do the Xperia buttons work? Dpad? Analog?
Should I get a ps2 emulator? that seems like a really fun test but is it too much? Should I stick to browser games and old PC games?
You can bypass the local wi-fi thing with port forwarding. The problem is using the Play's hardware controls on this thing. I can map the directional buttons to a gamepad's analog stick with Xpadder, but none of the other buttons will register. And circle is the same as "back" so it just exits the Splashtop app. Hmm.
I wonder if this is doable at all. I can get Crysis 2 to load up, and look around with the touchscreen. It looks honestly quite smooth - you just can't do **** except look around haha. Such a tease.
that looks VERY good, hit me up with a pm if u get it working and i'll download it, would LOVE to get a bitta gta going on the phone. gta 3/vice city ftw

how did you get it so the screen was a 1:1 of the computer screen? i had to zoom to get mine to fit, and even then it'd move around/be a nuisance

[APP][2.2+] CheapCast. Turn your Device into a ChromeCast Dongle

Ok, here it is. The first public beta of CheapCast, an App that let's your Android Device emulate a ChromeCats Dongle. I decided to put this up for free since I believe it could potentially useful to a whole lot of people. If you like it and it works for you, feel free to just use one of the Donation options within the App.
I will also make the Source Code available in the near future (I'm still cleaning it a bit up). Just watch this space: https://github.com/mauimauer/cheapcast
I hope to further improve the App and welcome anybody who wants to contribute.
In my first PoC-Video I've showed CheapCast with YouTube, I've just uploaded another video showing Google Music streaming to a Nexus 7 running CheaCast: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2ktmrXgj9qQ&feature=youtu.be
As this is the first public Beta please expect things to fail. I appreciate your feedback. Please log your issues/bugreports here: https://github.com/mauimauer/cheapcast/issues
Hope you enjoy it.
Get it on the Play Store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=at.maui.cheapcast
or download it here: http://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23060877489999237
Awesome thanks. I'll be testing as soon as I get home.
very handy!
n4 > cheapcast > note 10.1 attached to sony bravia :highfive:
Awesome concept, but I cannot get my Revue to cooperate at all. It force closes every single time I try to start the service. I've tried multiple reboots and re-installs. Blah this Revue is a POS.
Awesome. Planning to try this on my Nexus Q running CM. Finally give the Q a purpose in life once again
Thanks!
Works on my SGS3 and my Xoom.
Not on my HPTouchpad or my Ouya but I haven't tried very hard yet.
Like it a lot!!!!
Works OK so far. Great concept for sure!! I can get all 3 of my Samsung device to connect but can only get you tube to play. I keep getting errors when using Google play music. Says unable to play requested song.... Anyway, I have my galaxy note 8.0 and also a galaxy s4 connecting to a galaxy s2 skyrocket. I've even tried connecting just the note 8.0 and s4 and have the same issue. Hope to get this fixed soon... Would love to stream to my surround sound when I feel like jammin!
A explaination on what this does exactly would be nice.
concept
i dont know why people are using both sender and receiver as mobile devices i think the concept of this app is that your suppose to install this app on a android tv hdmi dongle and transfer content from your mobile device to you tv
This is really awesome can anyone recommend some good dongles? works great with my gnex via MHL, but still a bit troublesome

Try https://github.com/dz0ny/leapcast/
Both seem to have the same problems at the moment though, single channel? Loses connection with the sender after one or two tracks of a playlist.
Very much looking forward to seeing how this develops.

Same problem here, losing the connection after a song. The only way to get it working again is to either disconnect and reconnect the sender, or to restart the service on the receiver. Bar that, this is class

Had this issue as well. I found out, that CheapCast is registered as another device for Google Play Music. I already had 10 devices attached, so killing some of the old and not used ones fixed that problem.
Maybe you got the same problem, if its only Music that is not working?

How does this fare on Aosp roms?
You need to test it. You defenitly need to install a Quickremote SDK but anyway. For me it wasn't working because the SDK I used wasn't able to send raw IR pattern..
You need to test it and if it doesn't work search for a SDK that support it. (I didn't find one so I'm back on stock) [emoji53]
Is there an updated link for the fixed apk? Would like to try this out

I'm in the US and i cant seem to find the Spotify App either, this shouldve been a day one app in my opinion.
Have the t-mobile frontier, spotify is not in the app store for me either. Again probably the top reason I bought the watch. Hopefully coming soon.
Looks like December we will receive it.
Response I got from Spotify Support today:
"Hey there,
Thanks for your email. We're happy to hear that you're interested to have your music with your Samsung Gear S3. We'll look into this for you.
We've taken a look at the advisories about partner devices and confirmed that the integration between Spotify and your device is being tested at the moment. As announced, we're looking to launch it officially soon.
It will be released globally through the Samsung Gear Store and the Gear S3 should be rolled out globally, as well.
At the moment, work is being done by Samsung on developing an offline caching update to the Gear S3. The aim is to have this released by end of the year.
This integration will support remote and local playback at launch as well as offline in the future. It is not live in their app store as it is yet to be tested and certified by us. The aim is to have it live globally in their Gear Store by 1st week of January, at the very latest.
Hope this answers your question. If you have other things in mind, you know where to find us.
All the best,
Stephenne
Spotify Customer Support"
Dang, this was theeeeeee sole reason I bought a Gear S3, so I can jog with my music and not with my phone. I hope they come through soon, I may return the watch under buyers remorse until the app proves to exist and work well. Otherwise, I couldn't care less about step counters or seeing texts on my wrist..
Same disappointment on the lack of Spotify, my only issue with the device.

Actually it has offline mode. In the settings you can select Stream over Wifi, and then it can work independent of the phone.
I justed tested. It stutters a bit first but then it works fine.
Awesome. Finally we have Spotify!

I love having Spotify on my watch a lot!
But it seems like there are some bugs in the app.
Once I selected Stream over Wifi, I cannot go back to Remote mode anymore. It says "BT disconnected" although phone connection is working fine.
Anyway, this is a good start and I hope they will release a fix soon.

Dish AirTV and Adapter, post your findings! Here's mine...

After searching around, I couldn't find any place people were really talking about these things... So here we go.
After finding out about the AirTV player and adapter from Dish, I purchased one. Here's what I've learned.
The adapter is a Hauppage WinTV-HVR-955Q. I tested it on my laptop and it works just fine. Best Buy sells that model for $59. Dish sells them for $30. Bonus.
I haven't tried sideloading the Amazon VOD app, but that's next on my list. Also, hoping that AT&T will release a DirecTVNow Android TV app soon. My question is, when they do, is there any way for Dish to block it on their AirTV box? Considering it is their direct competition. Or can we just root this thing and do it anyway? I'm thinking about just keeping the AirTV adapter and getting a SHIELD and going that route.
Anybody else messing around with these things?
Can you tell me what chipset it uses and how much RAM and storage space it has?
CPU: 4x ARM Cortex-A53 @ 1200 MHz
64 bit ARM
Ram: 1GB

They don't have any factory images available, but I got word that they are planning to push an update OTA by end of February.
We'll have to grab that when it's downloaded.
You can access recovery by plugging it in and holding down the "find remote" button.
Android recovery
Technicolor/uiw4010ech
6.0.1/MUF05/1.0.2.111816
Then you can reboot to bootloader, which then just starts up Android.
You can disable the sling app in settings and it won't then auto launch.
I like the remote of n the device. It automatically integrates with your TV using infrared. I am going to try it on the Nexus player to see how compatible it is.
Can one of you pull the sling apk from your airtv box? TIA
**edit
Guess that was too difficult for you guys, thanks for nothing

Haha, I didn't see that you replied on here. If you still want it I can try and grab it. I'm not at home right now, but I'll look at it later tonight.

haha no worries. If you have a time that would be great. I'd like to take a look at the APK. And if sling ever gives you guys the promised update with full integration, I'd like to have a look at that one too. TIA

Could you get the sling apk for this. I'm having scaling issues with SD content on Android TV version. Want to see if this is any better.
Stock Rom option
I'm curious if it's possible to get rid of the built in interface and move to stock android tv. And still allow us to use the OTA dongle
Has anybody been successful at rooting this device?

I was wondering the same thing, and how close this is / can be to vanilla Android TV. Thinking of taking advantage of the SlingTV promotion to get one.

I have been using it for about a month and purchased because of the Sling promotion (Model UIW4010ECH). Works pretty well and has a good tv guide interface that combines the Sling and OTA channels. I am very annoyed that it blocks several apps including xfinity and amazon video. I'm trying to get amazon to work. I have ES file explorer installed and pulled the amazon apk from my nexus. Tonight, I plan to spend some time tinkering. If there is anyone with advise, I'm all ears.
I downloaded the Amazon instant video for android from API dot.com and side loaded it. it was version 4.1.20 which I think is the apk for Sony smart tv and after reset of airtv player , it has worked fine.
DirectTV app for tablets works, until I click on a channel to watch....lol

No sir, I have never ventured down that path of knowledge....lol
Has anyone figured out how to record OTA channels on the AirTV? I got the tuner through the Sling promotion and it pulls in all my local channels fine in both the Sling app and the Live Channels app. I put a 32gb USB thumb drive in the second USB to test if I could record anything but there does not seem to be an option to do that. My understanding is that in the Live Channels app guide shows that can be recorded should say something like "DVR recordable" in their listing. I didn't see that for any of my OTA channels.
I also tried sideloading the Plex Server app from a ShieldTV just for ****s and giggles but that wouldn't even install.
Has anyone had any more luck than me?

I'm also curious about this.. I have seen a couple reviews indicating they have disabled any kind of external USB support.. however, they do say on their website, "OTA DVR coming soon". That leads me to believe that they are looking into allowing external storage but that that haven't made it that far yet, which makes me sad.
I'm going to try and see if it can locate my NAS drive and get a 3rd party tuner app to record shows to it over my network. Other than that I don't think there's any way to get it working unless someone roots it and gets USB storage working natively.
Sorry if I am not knowledgeable on these things. I want to download and enable the apk for setvnow on the AirTV. Right now it only allows apps from the play store. I need to access the apk via a website. If i can then this box might just be what i need to combine IPTV and OTA TV.
Maybe the wrong spot, but I was trying to get the USB tuner to work on my Nexus. No such luck. I plugged it into my window 10 comp and had to manually download the drivers to get it to work since it's a Haupaugge (sp) adapter. Any idea to get it to work on the Nexus player. Those adapters are cheaper than it's own ones. Thanks
Edit. Just a thought. Been playing with it (Xbox one, etc) I wonder if dish blocked any device from Auto detecting it to find drivers??
