[SF COATED] SPIGEN SGP Samsung Galaxy S4 Case Protective S View Cover - Galaxy S 4 Accessories

UPS just dropped this off 5 minutes ago. My first impression is that this is the best case for the gs4 for people who want a cover style case. This is the case that Samsung should have made for the gs4. It definitely mimics the curves of the gs4 very well. It has generous port openings that looks to even fit third party adapters. It also has the it blaster port opening. The headphone opening fits all of my headphones such as the vmoda m100, audeo phonak pfe232 and velodyne vpulse. The hinge is made of plastic but this case definitely feels high quality.

My recommendation.... Buy this case immediately. It can be broken down into 3 different styles of case.

I have the white version of this case and completely agree with everything you said , highly recommend this case to anyone looking for a flip/sview case

Can you flip the cover backward so you can hold the phone nicely? If yes, are the camera and flash still exposed? Thanks.

Yes you can fold it back all the way. The screen on the case exposes the camera. If you want the camera totally unblocked, then hold the cover halfway open.

actually, im not a fan of that clip thing on the cover and how the hinge sticks out...makes it catch on clothing when removing from pockets
So i just use the normal samsung S-view case with the Spigen backplate for the s-view case

the hinge ..not the clip.....
the hinge sticks out just a little bit, so if there are any lose threads in your pocket ,or suit jacket, it will pull at them
I wish they could have made the hinge more flush

Got the black one yesterday and loved the way it looked but shipped it back immediately. I thought "smooth black" would actually feel smooth but instead its kind of rough and almost sticky. Dust and lint immediately stuck to it before I even got the chance to pocket it. The texture was similar to the way the inner casing of otterboxes used to be (after enough complaints about dust and lint sticking to it they finally changed the material to a smoother, more dust free material).
Based on the reviews it seems like that white model is different? If so I may go for that instead. Otherwise the case is pretty slick.

Mine gathers a lil lint but its not nearly as bad as the silicone from otterbox cases or untreated silicone. It wipes off very easily.

I prefer the case having the clip todue to the fact that it keeps the case closed. I dont use my samsung s view case due to the case flapping open.

I have both the spigen sview and the samsung sview with the spigen cover, the samsung and spigen combo Is nice but the case would constantly open in my pocket due to lack of latch and their for was draining my battery, with the spigen sview dont have to worry about it opening and it looks alot nicer and offers more protection, ive had mine since release and it have never once gotten cought on anything

Just noticed you have a screen protector and a flip cover!
Paranoid much?
Seriously man, ditch the screen protector. It takes away from the screen beauty and screws up the tactile smoothness between your finger and screen

Rearth Ringke slim REVIEW

Hey guys,
I got the chance to review this case and made the video as usual. It is very thin, very light, however I am not comfortable leaving the top and bottom exposed.
Here it is! If you have any questions please just let me know
http://youtu.be/KIRwjBtI7L4
Just slapped mine on, like the raised corners for face down safety but agree the front of the top and bottom are pretty exposed. Nice fit and what I was looking for though. Nice review
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
whiel i like how slim it is. on mine, even with it face down, it'll wobble and it seems the screen is still touching because it slides soo easily like it does without the case.
the case without the phone doesn't wobble and it doesn't slide easily. maybe i have crooked one? doesn't feel like it though since there's no squeaking with the case on.
Just got mine and I'm liking it a lot, all we need is a case exactly like this one but covers the top and bottom as well, but yea this one is very nice
Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk 2
Odd I put mine face down in the dark and can see light all the way around except the corners. I am fairly positive it's not touching screen. The second case I got isn't as good of a fit though it is loose on the volume rocker side.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
I've had mine for a week or so.
Pros:
Thin
Light
Cons:
Moves around too much directly over the volume controls. Not enough material there to be stiff enough so it tends to flex in that area.
There's an annoying ridge around the edge closest to the screen. Sort of like a line for the mold used to form the plastic. This makes it feel cheap.
I've got the "Ringke Fusion" case on order and hoping I like that better. If so, this one may be going back.
-Brett.
I was just wondering...to address the 'top and bottom bezel uncovered' issue, could we not apply one of those full body shield protectors, i.e those that protect the sides? Or would the case not fit with that on?

I have this case and love it. I don't like to put cases on my phones but wanted to protect the glasses back so I got this. Protects the back while barely being noticeable, which is perfect for my tastes.

Got this case a couple days ago in white. So far so good. Thin and low profile. Dropped the phone yesterday, hit the corner and not a scratch or crack on the phone.
To those who have this case on, is it a snug fit or kind of lose? I'm asking because I just received the Spigen SGP Slim and it has a lose fit. Like you could shake it softly and feel the phone sliding around..kind of disappointed and if the Ringke Slim is snug, then I'm considering ordering that.

I got my navy blue Ringke Slim (version 2) this morning and although the fit is superb and getting it back off if a challenge i am a little cheesed off that "soft touch" doesn't equate to grip like it would on a Case Mate Barely There.
Great case but i am tempted to put my 95p S Line jobbie back on.
Cheapo case back on and the Ringke Slim sold on, it needs to be more grippy.

Is a case really needed?

I can see the point in a screen protector for piece of mind as the screen is so important. But can not see why people buy cases they seem to cause more scratches with the dirt trapped in them then anything else?

Yeah.. I've never had a single case cause a scratch? It's usually cheap hard clip cases that cause scratches or some aluminum ones and such. A screen protector is going to do absolutely nothing for your phone when you drop it out of your hand onto the concrete and your screen shatters. Cases actually protect your phone and the screen from otherwise phone ending scenarios.
Screen protectors are just so your pen or your keys in your pocket don't scratch your screen. A case is vital to keeping your phone safe.
If you've never dropped your phone, go on living the hardcore risk taking life,
I'm not breaking my phone I just spent hundreds on. Or messing up its perfect screen.

Use a micro-fiber cloth and clean off your phone and the inside of your case every now and then, and you can eliminate trapped dust. Make sure the micro-fiber cloth itself is relatively clean before you apply it, as you could end up rubbing a dirty cloth filled with sand and debris right into your phone. It sounds more annoying then it really is. At least once a week, spend a few seconds, and your phone will be in good shape and you'll have a TPU still that will save your phone should you drop it or it falls.
if you ever drop it though, the case is kind of needed to help with the impact. i personally rarely drop my phones but this time around im actually paying full retail for it so i figured spend $25 and get a really good thin protective spigen case.

Yes, I personally care more about scratch than impact.
That's why for all my phones without removable battery I did a full body plastic lamination instead.
But I might wanna try the S View Cover when more color comes out. Neo Hybrid seems too fat but I'll use it for a while.
I've never understood cases, people whinge about the design of phones, and then stick them in a even cheaper bit of plastic so you cant even see the design of the phone. Bonkers
I think for this phone it will be required to protect the camera glass/plastic from getting scratch. Unless you can put a plastic shield on it

ive never put a case on my phones.. but they've always been thicker, and smaller screens than this beast.... thats why im going with a case this time. as the screens get bigger they fall harder and im more worried about breaking it
If I'm in the office or around the house, I'll take it off, but generally always leave a thin tpu on.

I didn't have a case for the GS2 since I liked the feel of the back cover, it wasn't slick plastic but textured.
The GS4 has the same plastic cover as the GS1 vibrant and I dislike the oily feel that accumulates over time. So like the Vibrant I'll be putting an ultra thin case like the Spigen Ultra Fit to just cover the back.
Of course, someone had to ask It

I spent $700 on this phone, so I may as well keep it in good condition! Right now I'm using the S View cover, and it adds so little bulk that there's little downside to using it, apart from the cost
Isn't adding little bulk good? Neo Hybrid fattens my phone and might actually make it heavier... I'd get S View if it had other color and wallet slot.

I've seen a Youtube video that shows that's not true. A glass screen protector WILL keep your screen from shattering.

Dropped phone = new case (pics)

so a few weeks back i dropped my phone in a parking lot with small, lose gravel rocks. i like a naked phone but this damage made me want a case. i don't like bulky stuff so i went with this slim case from ebay. its 0.5mm thin.
what i love about the case is that its fingerprint and smuge free. and i just like the look better.
pics of the damage.
ouch
ouch

Ouch indeed. But that case doesn't protect top and bottom from those little rocks!

Sorry bout the damage. I use to think I wouldnt like a big bulky case until I got one. Its alot easier to hold I dont know how many times ive dropped my phone laying in bed. Not to mention my hands dont cramp anymore either. Something that small I would be worried about the shock from dropping it would transfer right to the phone. Will save from chips and whatnot but a hard enough drop I think it would transfer to where it counts, the screen/glass. I dont know how many times I dropped my s3 onto the concrete. Using a case with a silicone core and a hard skeleton definitely saved it. Still looks brand new right out of the box. My .02
Edit:
Check out the seidio convert. You might like it. It has the active I think its called at its core. A minimalistic case much like your but its also has a silicone you can wrap it in and then a hard skeleton on the outside. Nice because when your at home you can take off the rugged elements and have it in the slim case. Once again my .02

Nothing, you don't have to. Won't interfere with anything.
If you can't stand the look of it: take it off.
If you want some added protection: leave it on. I'm with this camp :good:
I have one of those cases as well. Don't you feel that its too slippery? Kinda makes me scared of dropping it.
I actually use 3 different cases for different occasions.
1. Spigen slim armor if I'm outside all day
2. Regular tpu for around the home and office
3. Wallet case when flying (folds into a stand and has pockets for id cards)
Buy a few more cheap case types if you can so you wont be stuck in one particular type
I'm using a desmay case which I think is 0.4mm thin, looks similar to the one you got

Received it today; first impressions...it fits like a glove, but it's easy to put on.
The silicone is the inner shell so it doesn't attract any dust. The plastic outside shell has a nice texture and isn't slippery. The only rubber parts which can be seen are the"enforced"edges, which serve the purpose of protection and makes sure that your screen never touches anything when laid down on its face and a narrow ring around the screen. The case however doesn't have covers for the ports(usb, camera, headphone and speakers) I had the idea that it would come with a screen protector, but my dead brain cells must have misunderstood the description. It comes however with a protective cover which also serves as a stand. It feels sturdy and with it on, your note is well protected, it makes however quite heavy like a brick.
The "phone"still fits in my hand, but that is without the cover attached.
All in all I'm quite satisfied with this case it will protect my note well and the design is not too shabby either.
I'll give y'all an update in two weeks.
Cheers my friends.

thanks for sharing your impressions and the pictures. i am very tempted to pick one of these up myself. I got a simple/cheap flip case to hold me over temporarily, but to be quite frank, I am too damn clumsy not to invest in more serious protection for my electronic devices.
Note 8 is my first case, so was curious how such a sturdy case felt on the device. Ballistic basically won over my loyalty two smartphone ago...had the equivalent case on my Atrix, and one day while running to catch a bus my phone fell out of my pocket and when flying, slammed into the asphalt of the highway/street i was running across hard enough to bounce three times and make it halfway back towards the other side of the street. I was horrified, went to retrieve it... not one single scratch, not one sign that anything had happened, just nothing. Those massive corners do their job, is all I have to say...
Hoping the case for this device is as reliable.
I can highly recommend this case, after two weeks of using, it has been nothing but good to my sweet note. The case and the stand feel sturdy, and when the note is my bag, the cover protects the screen...good stuff and a hell of a lot cheaper than the otter box.

I like the life proof name more personally. I'm just being biased to the brand however I will add that I'd rather have the flat black design too
Life proof

I hv a cheapo lifeproof knockoff but if I would got an expensive case (and I may still do) prob would get the lifeproof with screen protector fre ver..
I bought the Nuud for the S4. I personally really love it. Not because the **** is expensive but lighter than my Otterbox Defender AND it's such a better design than my prior LifeProof for the iPhone 5. If you have anyquestions please ask. Tag me in the question so ill see it.

How is the sound? During a call and the back speaker? Do you think it would work with a thin class screan protector?

I bought the obex, and it is awesome. I prefer it to any other case, but I have never had a life proof to compare it to. The obex comes with a gasketed extention to keep the phone water proof while using the headphones

During sound playback you can tell a difference from not having the case in but it's not a huge let down like it was with my iPhone 5 Life Proof. As far as voice feedback in the ear goes it does take the noise canceling a second to catch up so on the first ring or so it sounds distorted but it quickly fixes itself. It's not making calls or listening to music. No more opening the bottom hatch to make sure someone can hear me. And as far as the plastic cover goes if you're meaning a screen protector like invisible shield then it will fit. They provide you an optional screen protector to put on (I used it). I do intend on investing in a better one later, probably Ghost Armor. Lmk if you have anything else

Thank you, and I'm asking if you think a tempered glass screen protector would fit on there with the case and still seal? I have the mime feather glass on my phone and its very thin for a glass protector, not much thicker than the usual plastic ones.

I wish the same way on the other side. The OPEX is the same price as the Life Proof Nüüd which I have. I seen your post and I started looking for side by side comparisons unfortunately non exist... The LifeProof are awesome as well.
Long Live the IR Blaster.

Whichever you decide get one that isn't nuud and has a built in screen protector, otherwise there's is a risk of leakage. My iPad lifeproof is nuud and it leaks if you are too rug with it in the pool

Yeah that's smart. I got the warranty through Best Buy that covers water damage. That's another thing that kept me from the Frè

Why can't they make the whole phone water proof? Oh... They can. If they can send the space shuttle to the moon with the computing power less than my Moto Droid they can make it water proof damnit lol

I just purchased the version without a screen protector built in. The nuud I believe. I have a Mime glass protector (not the thinnest one, but the one with rounded edges) and it fits. Now, I havent tested it because Im not going to submerge my phone just to find out on purpose, BUT it appears to fit and seal normally. ill try to get some pics for you later when I get off work,
Short answer, yes it fits.....

The Obex is good at waterproofing. It's got some cons tho. I reckon the LifeProof will be less bulky. The Obex makes the notification bar hard to pull down cuz it covers the part above the screen. I don't really like the plastic screen protector of the Obex case also. But it's still a good case to consider!

I'm not to happy with my obex anymore. The screen protector is pretty crappy, the case scratches fairly and the colored parts get dirty. I had it on for a while and I'm very careful with my phone and its all marked up case and screen protector. And the protecter isn't that clear either. Yeah it's good that tue case is scratched and not the phone but my otterbox commuter has been on my phone for a lot longer and still looks good.
