Hi all,
As im new here i couldn’t post this on the development posts so have had to drop this here for now. I know there have been other related threads like this but my situation seems to be more unique and more annoying :crying:
After rooting my galaxy s3 I have had numerous call problems on both cyanogenmod and Carbon Roms. It started with cyanogenmod 9.1 stable and experienced problems where there was no sound at either end of the call, sometimes I could hear the other person speaking but they couldnt hear me. Other times when i answered the phone I would hear them speak but there voice would be distorted, sounding more like a robot. Theses problem would usually be fixed by either me or them calling back.
Thinking this had been fixed on a cyanogenmod nightly I tried them... however this seemed to make no difference, even on the newer versions.
Fed up I moved onto carbon Rom (despite this being cyanogenmod based) and have had the same problems with even the very latest build thou the distorted sound just became more common, even after a whole month of use.
I have now moved onto the liquid smooth Rom in hope i wont have the same problem... if this fails then its back to the old stock Rom
Has anyone else had the same problem or heard of this before??? Any feedback would be appreciated =)
Many thanks
Distorted sound on liquid smooth to.... =(
Yes! I have been having the same problem I think. I have looked everywhere and haven't been able to find a solution let alone another person describing the problem. About one in every 6 or 7 calls has a bubbly distorted sound but the person on the other end can hear me OK. I'm running CM 10.1 on a GS3 i747m. Did you find a solution or find anyone else with a similar problem?

If this is any help and I know its late, but carbon ROM is based on many cyanogenmod parts (the MMS app, many features and I'm sure the phone app). If you are having problems going to on cyanogenmod the problem is likely to ocurr in carbon, AOKP or Paranoid android are less likely to have the same problems though.
You have to go back to stock rom .. eliminate binnary status.
and then take it to a Samsung service center.
I think the galaxy s3 is no damage on the hardware you
sorry i use translate.google
I can't agree. I have the same problem and need to reboot each time. I've flashed about 10 different ROMS. This problem only exists on cyanogenmod. I have no clue, but I've been looking for an answer for some time now.

Hey!
I have been having issues with my microphone on my LG G2X - I have it rooted, and it's running Miui - not sure what version... I have completely wiped and gone factory, but when I talk everyone can't hear me..... I bought it from a friend - who said he had problems - but it seemed to fix itself out..... Not sure what I can do.
Does anyone know how to increase the volume for a microphone? Or how to take it apart and fix it manually?

Is it related to the ROM? Or have you tried other Roms? I know that the latest Nightlies of CM7 have that issue, but the stable release of CM7 doesn't.

That really seems to depend on the phone, also. I've flashed every single nightly since the 40s, and when the 'microphone issue' started popping up I made it a point to test my mic volume to a minimum of 5 other phones every nightly....and it's never been a problem on my handset. Not once...
Not saying the problem doesn't exist, it just doesn't seem to be present on all devices..
I had the same prob on cm7 around nightly 174 or 175. Try pushing the latest stable release of cm7.. i bet it'll be all set.

I totally agree, my phone has it where as my parents' doesn't. Wonder what could be the issue.
It's a known issue on some MIUI builds, some have suggested replacing files (for example: http://forums.miuiandroid.com/showthread.php?10200-Low-mic-problem) or playing around with mute/unmute (for example: http://www.galnetmiui.co.uk/landing/forums/showthread.php/2352-Low-Microphone-Volume). I haven't experienced the problem myself on recent builds from Whitehawx.
Hey all, brand new to rooting and flashing ROM'S, but yesterday i rooted my i747 galaxy s3 and flashed it succesfully with the most recent nightly of cm10... i dont know much about it and had a few questions that i hope people had answers for...
How can i tell what has been changed in each new nightly update? I cant find anywhere to see what bugs they fixed or what as added.
Should i be updating ever time a new nightly comes out or not?
I noticed google now is working, but not speaking back to me. is this a known error? or is there something i need to change- i have it set to always speak back.
Thanks for the help, i am incredibly new at this as i recently switched to android from iphone, and dont know much about rooting phones or CM10
anyone? the google now not speaking back is really annoying
you should be updating it and well google wasnt meant to run on it yet so it might be a bug for a certain ammount of time ...also update it when theres an update it will usually help with some bugs
I am thinking about buying one from AT&T. I did a bunch of searching on the web and xda but couldn't find much about problems with this phone. Is this phone really that good, or am I just not searching enough?
Even if they are fixable problems, it is nice to know up front.

Are you planning to stick with stock firmware or root&flash something else?
With stock firmware, as far as I could gather, these are the main issues people had:
Internal SD too small for installing large amout of apps and especially games
For some people there is an echo when using the speakerphone
A whole lot of annoying AT&T bloatware, but that would be with every phone you get from them
But I havn't really ran it(stock) for more than an hour. I flashed CM10 unofficial port by ktempleton almost immidiately(these are nightlies, there is also CM9 Stable port that I havn't tried myself). As far as I know these are the only issues with that ROM:
Occational silent calls(the call connects but no one heares anything on either side)
A bug with the phone display rotation, that comes and goes as nightlies progress
More severe echo issue than stock has been reported
Music playback from external SD could get choppy. Could be due to low-quality microSD card as not all people expirience that(I do). This has also been reported with stock ICS but strangely not with stock GB.
Overall I could say I'm pleased with the phone, only major issue for me is the occational silent call issue that could catch you in an inconvinient situation. It might not exist with CM9 stable, but I have not yet checked myself. You should not have that issue with stock as far as I know.
EDIT: don't know how I forgot to mention this, battery life is not great. Would last you a full day only if you turn off LTE&NFC. otherwise might leave you hanging(obviously this depends on many elements, such as how often and for what you use the device for. You could run it on 2G and probebly use it for two days straight). Coming from Nokia this was somewhat of a shock for me at first but got used to it eventually.
Been using Cyanogenmod for a week now. Very dissapointed in the fact that my bluetooth audio sounds like AM radio. Also I get extremely bad echo during calls. Tried CM10 and 10.1. Both have the bluetooh issues.
Sure its a little bit faster. But, I rooted and installed a custom rom in hopes to IMPROVE me phone experience and I got just to opposite.
I'm considering going back to the rooted stock rom but I can't seem to find the link to the original latest verizon rooted rom. I didn't make a backup. Can anybody help me locating it?
On another note, I'm willing to try another custom rom if someone can vouch for it and ensure that there are no major bugs like CM10.
Should've bought an iPhone o_o but really the developers spend there personal time making these roms not for money but for us and themselves so if you're "disappointed" in them then make your own or try others, read threads and find out bugs before you flash.

Don't use bluetooth so can really comment about it, however there are some great touchwiz roms in the Android Development section I stay away from the Original Android Development just because I have found too many issues.
As for some suggestions Synergy is pretty cutting edge though you may have to play with voltages if you install ziggy's kernal. Clean rom is another nice option. Hyperdrive and Delta have also run solid for me. Currently running Beans 12 and it is almost everything I can ask for, if a 5x6 launcher were included it would be perfection for me.
I would say to install twrp as your recovery, if you haven't done so, and install a rom and run it for a few days and see how it handles. Make a backup, twrp lets you rename them so you can easily restore to your favorite rom, and install something else for a few days. Also you may want to try different kernels as well, KT runs good for me but there are many more to choose from.
Finally just remember that each user runs different apps and has different needs and that while we all hqve the same phone minor variatikns n hardaware and just the way the rom flashes can have different effects such as bluetooth audio interferance or poor battery life or app abc will not work for one person but another has none of tjese problems.
Good luck and just remember that the perfect rom is out there waiting for you. You just need to flash like a madman until you find it.
Check out mastamoon's CM 10.1 rom. His latest 2-28 rom is near perfect. BT audio sounds great, signal handoff isn't as good as TW, but it's good enough as a daily driver. I've had little problems with it, to the point i don't even notice it. Try that and your mind will change.

A. If you have issues with a ROM either post in the ROMs thread or in the Q&A section. Not start a thread in General bashing a ROM developers spent countless hours on. Just a respect thing.
B. Go to original development look for yourself, see what has features you like.
At this point, my phone is just one big tweak.
I'm sorry you're getting echo in calls and problems with BT. Would probably be solvable if you had asked since echo has been fixed for a long time.

responses are laughable
I think its funny, this guy has a valid complaint about how CM 10 is making his Bluetooth sound bad, and weather it's true or not, members just bash the $hit out of him, lol.
To the OP, if you don't like the ROM or something is glitchy, I've done two things in the past when I've experienced this.
1. make a backup (I use my backup root), and then boot into recovery, wipe (cache, davlik, system, and Format), then reflash your ROM.. OR
2. Find a new ROM and try that out. Currently I'm running the latest CleanRom with Morphology 1.5, and Ac!d audio..I have no issues with sound or bluetooth.
I hope that helps man, good luck and remember. Keep Calm and Flash Roms.
There are at least two threads where a total noob can seek help to fix the two issues he has, and one more where he can read how to fix his issues. Perhaps there are better ways to address his concerns?

Plus, it's free. Beggars can't be choosers. Please don't condone his actions - he came across as very rude and ungrateful, whether intentional or not. You shouldn't complain when people give you free stuff. Period.

To the OP I say I hope you find a solution to your problem. Keep flashing and find what you need brother. To everyone else I am pretty new to this particular medium (xda forums) but looking at almost every topic I've seen I gather one very singular feeling. Please xda take away the "post new topic" option. Its pretty obvious that every single question that can possibly be asked has already been answered. So why ask any question. They are apparently evil and the world wide web has only limited space so lets please not clog it by asking a question twice *gasp*. There is a section for every device and build for developers only that by all means should be kept as streamlined and clutter free as possible but in general forum questions should not be so vehemently discouraged.

I am also disappointed in the CM rom's performance...but I think the blame (for my issues, at least) resides totally with Samsung.
The rom itself works great, but when you're in the middle of a town and everyone else in the restaurant has 4g and you've only got 1x (not even 3g)...well...that's an issue.
Wish they would release the friggin RIL so I could just stick with a 4.2 rom. Grrrr!
S3 Radio
I don't know if this is the right place to post this or not. I recently had to return my phone to stock because my phone needed to be re provisioned to activate it again. This happens when you flash multiple roms apparently. I got my phone working and commenced to do everything to flash back to CM 10.1. I noticed I can make calls however, my 3g data will not come up. So, I have flashed back to stock and everything works fine. Anyone know of a tip that might resolve this issue. I was using the nightly from yesterday.

Me too, my only real issues with CM (or any non-TW ROM) stem from the fact that the radio interface has not been released by Samsung and therefore the reverse-engineered AOSP RIL will probably never be as good as stock. It's not limited to signal strength issues, you also can't take full advantage of the phone's World Phone capabilities with a non-Touchwiz ROM. Unfortunately for me, that's a deal-breaker, my phone needs to work as a phone first and foremost and if Touchwiz ROMs have a better and more functional radio, I have to stick with that.
I have been using the latest nightlies of Cm and they have been running great. phone works great except in some areas where I can't get a signal with TW roms either.
I had CM running on my Dinc2. Since getting the S3, I've been running CleanROM with mods. (when I was on CR5.6 I was using KindaCrap Mods and now that I'm on CR 6.0 I"m using Andy Bones' AOSP Theme, which gives it a lot of the feel of CM).
Q&A for [ROM][LP 5.0] Beanstalk Rom 5.0009 Unoffical KLTESPR builds 1/10
Some developers prefer that questions remain separate from their main development thread to help keep things organized. Placing your question within this thread will increase its chances of being answered by a member of the community or by the developer.

BeanStalk Rom calls
The rom works perfectly The only thing that i am having a problem with is calls i know that a known bugs was ending the call but that is not the problem I can not figure out how to answer a call could you give me an idea of how to fix this issue
Problem with ROM
I just installed your ROM last night and absolutely love it! However, I think I may have found an issue. I've had a few people call me this morning and nothing comes up. It rings as if I'm getting an incoming call, but there's nothing on the screen for me to answer it. It just keeps ringing until I reboot the phone. Afterwards, I went to my incoming calls and there wasn't anything there either. Outgoing calls work perfectly fine though. Is there a bug, or just something I did wrong?
no SIM card
Mine reads No Sim card on the lock screen and also does not like to hang up on or answer phone calls. Otherwise this runs like butter.
i am still having trouble with receiving phone calls my phone will do a soft chirping noise when a call is coming through but never notifies me who is calling and after the call is ended by the other user the chirping continues until i reboot my phone. I have applied the newest update as well and still no fix please help if you know how to fix this anyone
My phone keeps having a subtle ring. It only turns off when I restart and then starts after awhile again. Is this happening to anyone else?

So mine stopped some how. I think it was after I installed whatever the equalizer thing. Its in the beanstalk options in the settings app.
I'm not a noob to ROMs or flashing.. but im not too advanced and just more of a lurker. been flashing roms since the galaxy s. I am however getting horrible battery life and performance stuttering on the newest build of this super sweet ROM. everything works, but the lag is bad compared to the previous build which was butter smooth, just had the incoming call issue. I tried all the performance profiles and it only seemed to worsen the drain. any suggestions?
1/16 build flashed fresh today, ran battery down in 4 hours. Going to revert back to CM11, although BS ROM had rock solid radios
REALLY want this to be a daily driver.
This ROM works in G900M?

the 1/29 build
The NFC on the 1/29 build does not work does anybody know how to fix this? It just goes to the play store and says item not found
Flashed 2/1 version and expressing random reboots and my phone doesn't always answer incoming calls. Battery life is amazing! Also, MMS won't function unless on WiFi, tried adding APN manually with no success, thoughts? Super appreciate your work!
Home Key Stopped Working
Just flashed the newest version of Beanstalk 5.00050 and lost the function of my home key. It will still turn my screen on but will not function after that. I reflashed the 2/11 version and still have the same issue. Any advice? I love beanstalk.
galaxy s3 sph-L710
can i flash this on a galaxy s3 sph-l710
Flashing Beanstalk
If I flash this, will I have to clear cache, and factory reset just like flashing a new ROM? Im just wondering about this particular ROM because since I came from the CyanogenMod and when updating we didn't have to do all that but this one is different so I just need to know
