I have already noticed a detailed discussion related to the toic but unable .to find out the solution to it. I have downloaded stuff for my kids but unable to play tht on my TV.
Can anyone have a quick and simple way to guide me.for that.
Their is an optional extra HDMI device for wirelessly sending video and such from your device to your TV.
This is a fairly costly device and not many use it.
The other way is to use dlna/upnp. In the youtube apps and media streamer etc you can select your tv as the display device.
I find this does not function correctly for video with my Samsung tv's.
I use the app imediashare, but there is many to chose from such as bubbleupnp, twonky, sempervidlinks etc.
It would be good to know what your tv is capable of and how you can connect to it.

Building on what has already been said, I find that the general rule of identification for the living room is if a device has wifi capabilities, then the HOX can usually push media to it via dlna.
If you have a device that is network capable, usually dlna will work with it too.
If you have experience pulling media from the computers around the house and displaying them on your television, then you're absolutely on the right track.
Sometimes, SMART TVs and wired network media devices have a YouTube app that is capable with YouTube Leanback, a service that lets you view YouTube videos on the big screen and control it with your Android devices.
If you lack all of the hardware mentioned above, there are three options.
1) HTC Media Link HD
All it does is receive media sent by HTC devices, via HDMI to the television. Very, very basic. If you want to buy this, try to locate the 2012 (for One X and One S, it's variants, and the Butterfly) model, maybe 2011 (for Sensation and Amaze series). The reason for this is this accessory existed last year as the flagship connector to the television for our device. It might be cheaper to buy one made for last year's devices, which we own, for cheaper, than to buy one created for the HTC One, and the Butterfly S. If I recall correctly, it's pretty expensive for doing only a few tasks. Although, if you're running HTC Sense, you'd already have three finger gestures for it built into the OS.
2) New TV

You could probably google more dlna accessories that connect straight to the TV, but if you're ever in the need for a new Blu-Ray player, or a new home theatre set, keep dlna in mind.

It pains me a bit to say this, but Apple TV is an inexpensive option that is near perfect for these needs. After setting iTunes to identify all media libraries in the house, head down to the TV and have it pull your desired content. It's so simple, and surprisingly, only $99.

I am sorry if this topic previously has been discussed, butI have googled it for some time and haven't found any solutions.
I need to be abla to beam music from one android phone to another, i.e. use the phone as media renderer. I have two old android phones which I use only for sound in my bed room and living room. I would therefore want a way to control these phones from my primary phones. There are some ways to use them as media servera, etc., but I cant't the solution.
So, please help wouldn't this be possible? I guess a lot of people out there have old phones, which could be awesome to control from remote.

It should do the trick... need to install it on both phones, then set one up as the library and the other as the output.
No, I have already tried Twonky player, but it does not allow me to beam the music from on android phone to another. If have two phones, A and B, I want to be able to control the music player on B, which is connected to the hifi in the livingroom from phone A, which is in the kitchen. Twonky, and other options allows me to stream music from phone B to A, but I want to control the B player, which I am nowhere close to. Does that make sense? It has to work like Gmote, where it is possible to control music from the phone on the computer, but here I want to control the music on B instead of a computer.
Ah, I see. You have a phone connected to your stereo playing music. You want to be able to control that phone with another one wirelessly.
I think you are SOL... I haven't heard of anything like that. You may be able to cobble something together with Tasker and gtalk/sms messages (ie. send a message like "next song" to the other phone that Tasker picks up and performs the action).
I've been looking for this as well to repurpose my HTC Hero and have finally found it!
An app called ArcMC Media Server and Player (market link) can turn any phone into a DLNA receiver. You can then use your other phone as the server with Twonky or similar. I almost made an additional hardware purchase for this but now my old phone does it just as well.
The app looks new which might explain why no one has found it and the bad review average so far. Also it requires 2.2 which may be a limitation for some. Installing a custom rom can fix that though.
edit: sorry, I may be confused. I want my new phone "play to" my old phone. For that my old phone needed to be a receiver, which Twonky does not do. The media lives on and is controlled by my new phone, I just use my old phone to receive it and output it to the speakers.

Here's one for ya... i went from an iphone 4 to an Atrix (woo hoo!) and would like to control my iphone music from my android. it is jail broken.
I know it's a long shot but figure'd it's the XDA forum, ya never know.
I can push YouTube videos from a phone that has Twonky Beam installed to a phone with ArkMC installed. I tried it with Samsung Infuse and Samsung Captivate.

Of the apps mentioned so far in this thread, BubbleUPNP is the one I found the most stable and most useful.
I'm using it to stream from my PC, from foobar with the uPNP plugin. Winamp is my preferred music player but foobar just works so smoothly as a control point for uPNP that there's not even a choice!

ArkMC now supports YouTube as well. It's possible to subscribe for YT channels and share them to DLNA/UPnP device in local network.

Anyone had any luck with media sharing via DLNA?
Running the Connected Media App I've not had any success with a PS3 or Google TV (Logitech). I did have some success with a 3rd party app, but the pictures were down-sampled when viewed on the TV (thumbnail res nearly).
In terms of the network, my girlfriend received the Galaxy S2 today, and its AllShare app worked fine with the PS3 (the phone appeared on the PS3 as soon as AllShare was started), although as usual it didn't like the phone's videos being 3GP. (After spending some decent time with the S2 I can't say I prefer one over the other, but I'm seriously looking forward to when I can root this Sensation to uninstall the myriad crapware, plus the S2 allowed uninstallation of Vodafone's apps out of the box, weird).
So I wondered if anyone else has had any success sharing photos or videos to DLNA compatible devices?
My TV is DLNA compatible, although I'm not 100% sure if what I did is DLNA as I don't know all that much about the protocol, so forgive me if I'm wrong.
My TV is connected to my router via an ethernet cable and my Sensation, wirelessly.
With my TV on, I went into gallery, hit menu, select player, it searched and found my TV, I picked it, and then the TV started showing pics in 1080p, was pretty neat.
Even music streaming worked to the TV. I have also successfully got the phone to stream over bluetooth to my cars ICE, with the same method.
I was not able to do any of this with my Galaxy S.
is it possible to dlna to ps3 ???

could you select media from ps3 itself to be shown on tv or did you clicked a file on the phone on galaxy s2 and after that it was shown on tv ???
@alex Good to know, I think my DLNA devices (Google TV and PS3) are a bit too simple, they don't support streaming content to them (like with Apple's AirPlay), but only let you browse the phone's content. It's just weird that the phone wasn't showing up with the Connected Media app running...
Anyway I used DoubleTwist's AirTwist feature and the phone now shows up, I can view photos in full-res, play music, but not video due to the codec used, so that's pretty strange again but at least I have a 3rd party solution.
@B-Man I think so yes, but like Alex I'm not sure how much of this is pure DLNA standard protocols, and how much is proprietary or reverse engineered (like with DoubleTwist's AirPlay support).

Yes DoubleTwist is my media player app. AirTwist is a built in feature to enable media streaming across devices.
Another cool feature is AirSync (paid plugin) lets you sync your music, podcasts and playlists with PC/Mac over WIFI.

Once I get mine, I'll have an interesting test.
I have several 3D streams from various sources in 1080i, 1080p and 720p, SbS and TaB (Side by Side, Top and Bottom) and several DLNA enabled, 3D TVs at work. Will be interesting to see what happens when I playback one of those 3D streams over DLNA to a 3D TV. Will have to see if I can find out how many of them support 3D source over DLNA.
Not obsessed with 3D or anything. Have been working with it since Aug of '09 about 50% of the time at work. Have a US$500k lab setup. Love the source clips I get. 16GB for a two min clip. 8 for left eye and 8 for right eye. 1920x1080 @ 23.97 4:2:2 eats hard disks for lunch.
Just out of curiosity, how is 3D doing in the UK? TV manufacturers here did not get the sales they expected for 3D TV in '10.

Looks like there might be a 720p limit on DLNA streaming. Not sure if it's a Sensation limit or DG H100.
I have had success streaming music, photos, and HD video to my Western Digital Live Hub using the connected media application..
I am quite impressed with the quality... Pics come up slow, however video was very good looking...

It's taking a similar path to HD, actually slower IMHO. No-one is really going out of their way to get one yet. Two reasons I can think of:
1. The major 3D TV provider, Sky, charges a lot of money for their packages but has very little 3D content (they already charge £10/mo extra for HD versions of 3 non-FTA channels). PS3 3D gaming is pretty niche.
2. There was a huge push to buy new large HD TVs with the World Cup 2010, literally everyone I know was upgrading their old sets (at this time 3D TVs were still in the early adopter price range). That surely puts a dampner on sales for a while after.
Everyone knows it'll be standard in sets soon, and without loads of compelling content, and still having to wear expensive glasses, there's just not much of a push yet.
I didn't know this existed until I was playing with the music app and noticed the device selection part.
I clicked, and there was XBMC running on my HTPC! And it worked!
I can stream audio and view photos on my new 55in Sony Bravia. Video is in the wrong format - .3gp isn't supported. I tried Twonky for Android and it's only capable of the same photos and audio. I may try to set up a Twonky server and serve the video from the Sensation to Twonky and then use Twonky's transcoding to view it directly on the TV.

XBMC had no issues with video either.
I work for T-mobile and attended the launch event in houston and HTC said that DLNA was still being fine tuned for the sensation, don't know if this helps.

My only problem with xbmc is that it supposedly doesn't play nice with Sony dlna.

You could use Twonky's android app.
Looking for an app that will stream all system audio over airplay (example would be airport express).
An example of why this would be really great would be for Apps like Rdio and Spotify. By having an application agnostic way to stream it would work for numerous apps. I know there are players out in the market that do play to airplay speakers, however the audio has to come from them (IE would not work streaming based applications).
Anyone have any thoughts or know of any apps that could do this?

I would think not. I honestly don't know what's so good about airplay. I have bluetooth and my ipod touch can play music to that with no problem!
Anyway, you probably could find a way to do it however, since it isn't cooked into the OS, you probably don't have a hope.
Oh, and Air Play doesn't work with every ipod touch app either, unless you know a very special trick (and perhapse a jailbreak).

What i like about airplay is the integration into my home theater system. My home theater has numerous available sources and 3x sets of speakers for different sections of the house. This allows me to play what i want where i want it.
If I could get some sort of bluetooth device that has a range of 150 feet (as i can be on the deck or anywhere in the house) then that works. Any suggestions?
I thinks its a very low likelihood that anything exists now.
The base parts are there: the bluetooth audio redirects system audio, and other apps stream to airplay. So its a matter of combining them.
aibo: I was under the impression that doubletwist will play to airplay only if the audio plays through it. IE music local to the device. If doubletwist would allolw music played from the rdio or spotify app that would be what i want.

Your stereo probably has DLNA support, so you could try finding an app for that. DLNA is almost identical to AirPlay. I don't know why Apple made their own system instead of just implementing DLNA.

DLNA poses the same problem. There is no method of pushing *all* sound through DLNA only sound from the DLNA enabled apps. I too would love *some* systemwide method of streaming other than bluetooth, but I have yet to find one. One that does audio and video would be perfect. The HDMI cable works great, but I have broken 1 cable and 1 adapter because the point where the mini HDMI goes into the wire/adapter is the weak point in the event of cable flex.
As to the question of why Apple made a new system it is pretty simple. Apple gets a royalty from every iDock device sold as it is their patent, the same holds true for airplay, they get a royalty for every airplay device sold. They feel they have the market share to force users to purchase these devices. And let's face it, for whatever reason the Android manufacturers missed the boat on this one. If Android had established a standard A/V port on every device we too would have a mutitude of docks to connect our devices to, but it never happened. That is the one and only thing I wish we had from the Apple world.

I've seen a lot of discussion on here that relates to this, but I can't find a direct answer to my specific question.
I have a Note 10.1 (8013 w/JB 4.1.2) and a Samsung TV that has "AllShare".
What I want to do, and don't seem to be able to, is have whatever is on my Note screen mirrored onto my TV screen. Specifically, I want to watch NetFlix and have the Netflix content (video and audio) come through my TV. From what I've read on here, I can do that using a Samsung AllShare Dongle - but then I can use the dongle to view my content on any TV with an HDMI input. (my TV has AllShare, but it has no other "apps" built in, so I can't just have the TV pull directly from NetFlix)
What I don't understand is why I would need an AllShare dongle when I have a Samsung TV with AllShare built in. Sure, if I'm trying to use a non-Samsung TV, but it seems like if the TV has "AllShare" built in, it wouldn't need a dongle in order to do what the dongle does.
So, the question is, is there a way to have my NetFlix player on my Note show its content on my Samsung TV that has AllShare?
FWIW, what I CAN do:
- start a video that is stored locally on my tablet and have it play it to the TV. It takes a few seconds to get started, but then my movie plays through the TV itself.
- use my laptop and run Windows Media Player and pick a video that is stored locally, and have it Play To the TV. That works just like it does when playing from my tablet.
- on the TV, I can go into the AllShare menu and it shows both of the laptops on my home network, but not my Note. I can click into either PC and watch movies, listen to music, or look at photos - anything that I have chosen to Share from that PC.
So, I also don't understand why I can use my Note to Play To the TV, but the TV doesn't "see" the Note. And, if I go into the AllShare settings on my Note, it searches and says No Devices Found. But, then it will let me Play To the TV from the Video Player.
At the end of the day, I don't really see what the point of AllShare is or the AllShare dongle. Before I bought an AllShare dongle, I would just buy a Roku or similar device for the same or less money.
Depending how old your samsung tv is depends whether you need the dongle or not. Mine is the UA55D7000LM model which was supposed to be supported but that has since been withdrawn. I had to get a dongle.
Contacted samsung and got no help, would've been less painful beating my brains out with a gold brick wrapped in a slice of lemon...
They claimed it should work and gave me a heap of suggestions, none of which worked, and then told me I was doing something wrong.... I was, I was doing what they said....
Now with the dongle it works fine BUT as it connects with wifi you can forget browsing the web or streaming stuff through 3g. It is only good for things already on the tab..
If your tv can connect to internet, just use 'bubble dlna'.

I want the same thing, screen mirroring, but for the life of me cant get it to work, What's the point of Allshare cast?....I don't get it?....
The best I can get is an app called imediashare, but this still does not mirror the tab, but at least I can YouTube to the tv..
Folks does your tv have allshare play or allshare cast?

I don't see why I have to buy a dongle? I have a Samsung tv with allshare installed on it....
I can use imediashare to throw some apps on the tv, so the function for mirroring should be there already?

Nope nothing. I have the 2011 ua55d7000lm. It also only says allshare.... As I said, when the Note was released my model was on the list for allshare mirroring... Haven't been successful so I got the dongle. Works fine....
But I shouldn't of needed it by all the info presented by samsung. It was one of the major reasons I bought the note... That and the phone capability....
Yep, I'm having the same probs, cant mirror, I've connected via WiFi direct, and on the tv in menu there's an option that says Samsung wireless link (swl), its connected but not idea how to use it. It's given me another ip address too for the link?
Do the newer 2013 Samsung tvs have an allshare cast app installed?
Same reason i bought the notę, for all the compatability reasons....suprise suprise Samsung been telling fibs again....wont be the 1st time though..... The old ue46d6000 series would not display 3D in HD even though they were advertised as doing so......I got an upgraded set the 7 series in the end, and some strange calls from solicitors saying they needed to speak to me.....no doubt to keep stum

Understand what you mean.
Like you i just spent $50 to get the dongle. Now i have what works with any hdtv. Its better than spending $200+ for this feature alone on a small set of samsung TVs for me!

And boy the dongle rocks... i can take it with me to office.. i can connect it to my desktop monitor, and take it with me when i travel so that my kid does not have to look at the tablet for watching a movie in hotel rooms.

Just be aware that the dongle uses wifi to connect. If you have 3G then that gets turned off to accomodate the wifi connection, all other wifi connections seem to be dropped so you can't stream movies from the net to your TV as it only allows 1 wifi connection at a time....
Pain in the bum as a use a wifi HDD to store most of my movies/TV shows.... Can only stream to TV what's on the tablet. But with a 64Gb sd card that is plenty of choice.....
I have a samsung tv also. But like many have said its older. So doesnt work. I have The galaxy note 10.1, Galaxy note II and a HP Laptop with WIDI Build in. I got the Netgear PTV3000 its a push to tv device. Its smaller than a pack of cigs. HDMI out and can be powered from the usb on the tv itself or comes with a outlet plugin adapter. I updated the Firmware to 2.2.4 Which u can get off the internet and this also adds miracast for the nexus devices. Everything works AWESOME. I can stream netflix from all 3. When i stream a movie it goes to FULL screen. I can Stream From VUDU, Hulu and also Stream a blueray movie from my laptop to my TV. Everything just works. The tablet and phone mirror from device to TV. So if i turn my tablet or phone landscape or longways it does the same on the tv. With the laptop u can adjust screen size from the settings of WIDI. The thing is awesome. I take it everywhere. I travel alot so handy in the hotels. Hook it up and good to go. Have any questions i can try and answer. Forget the allshare device this does that plus adds more for other wireless display devices not just samsung. I do admit there is just a tad of lag. Maybe 1/2 a second if that. nothing u can tell while streaming anything. just notice it more when flipping thru screens. Neat to play games from the tablet to ur screen.

I am not buying another, smaller and lower resolution, TV so I can get a feature that was supposed to work with my current 55" Full HD 1080P 3D TV...

I am looking to ditch my cable TV. I don't want to pay the monthly $90+ for a lousy selection of channels, most of which we either don't watch or that we can stream live online. I watch a lot of pro sports and I am able to stream them from various websites free.
Can anyone suggest how to best set up our 3 household TVs - and with what equipment so that I can make the transition to getting rid of our cable a reality? Currently we simply use HDMI lines to connect a laptop or phone to a TV to stream whatever we want on a big screen. Would it be best to designate 1 device for each TV in order to stream whatever we wish to stream? Would it be best to buy an Amazon fire stick or cube? Or what about a Roku? Apple TV or Google Chromecast?
No idea how to best sort this out. I do know that there are some very inexpensive Internet cable option available these days. For example: XXX

I'd say get an Android TV device like Chromecast with Google TV or those Onn Tv boxes from Walmart for each TV. Since they're just android at the core (fire tv is also but they don't have gapps) you can do a lot more with them and you usually get the extra Chromecast functionality. If you have OTA TV channels nearby, you can get a USB TV tuner and hook it up to a computer or raspberry pi with Plex installed and it'll let you access and record shows from any device with Plex. You'll need to get Plex pass but it's not too expensive. (Not an ad for Plex I just use and like it a lot)

I haven't had cable since I lived at home with my parents. I use Netflix, Disney+, and Hulu (through Spotify). I also use the below mentioned setup.
My setup (which I don't condone unless you're a scumbag) is a Raspberry Pi running a Plex server in Docker, connected to an external 8TB HDD. I then have a Nvidia Shield connected to my living room TV and use this to stream all the media I have downloaded on my Plex server. The cool thing about Plex is that you can also connect to your server with phones, tablets, laptops, Firesticks, Rokus, etc. You can also connect to it remotely; I can stream my home server to my work laptop and watch all the Media. With Plex you can also share your "Library" with friends/family. You can create an account for them and give them access.
I don't use Cable TV any more complete on Online streaming for all of my devices.
There is always the Tivimate app on CCwGTV, combined with a (preferably legal) lPTV provider of your choice.
(I normally don't condone piracy, but if you are a person in the world with very limited income, and TV is one of the few things that gives you happiness in tough times of your life, for example, I'd understand why one would do it when the global wealth has been redistributed to the wealthy 1% of the 1%...)
Good luck finding a solution that works out for you.

Have a look at an Android streaming box or as you said a Firestick 4k Max.
Install Kodi and visit https://www.matthuisman.nz/
Matt Huisman is a legend for what he brings the IPTV community. All my TV is via the internet and I couldn't function without Matt's awesome work.
A good place to start anyway.
I'd start with a Chromecast w/Google TV or a NV Shield. If you have a smart TV, it may be OK on its own (my Sony 900e is getting pretty slow compared to an external Chromecast). Easiest solution is YouTubeTV, but the price per month keeps going up. I dropped it when it went above $50/month. I have Prime, Netflix, Peacock, etc

My suggestion as well, however streaming from most iptv providers ISNT legal period. They stream illegally to paying people. Buying Tv from the source such as Comcast or Spectrum etc is the only truely legal way of doing so.
