Phone is Indian MB865.
I have BMM installed with Numa on sys 1. I have others ROMs on sys 3 and sys 4 also.
Now, I am having no luck with kexec/JBX ROMs. So i have decided to go back to bootstrap to install Miui.
But I cant seem to find how to remove Boot menu manager, its components and cleaning system 3 and system 4. (I dont know if cleaning sys3,4 is necessary)
And do i need to take any precautions?

Its miui 4. Yes you can install it. But i cant seem to use kexec ROMs(Which are 80% of our ROMs), so there is no point in Multi-Boot.
So I will be running only 1 ROM. One Main ROM.

You'll probably have to fxz back to ICS.... And then root and install bootstrap... That would be the safest..

Yea, but fxz is a long process. I will fxz if there is no other way, a last resort. I just read in Razr forum there there is an option to uninstall BMM in the BMM app. I dont remember but I will download it and check if its there.
EDIT: Uninstall option Its there. Would it be safe? Added Screenshots.

It's fine, I've done it before because I'm not a big fan of multi-booting. The cleanest way is always going to be via FXZ, though. So, you can just uninstall BMM, but if you encounter any issues then FXZ and try again.
Brought to you by time and relative dimensions in space.
To remove systems, go to data then clockworkmod and delete the virtual folder... It will remove both the systems
Then uninstall the bmm thru the installer options in bmm and install bootstrap.

OK, i will uninstall it after 1 day. The main reason for me not going for fxz is that my OEM usb cable is loose and my connection gets disconnects if I touch/move the cable. I don't want to hard brick my phone while fxz.

Wow, I never thought it would be this easy without doing something wrong. Will removing the folder in clockworkmod remove all the components in my systems and give me back my 4.8GB?
I have 2 questions.
1) the ROM in my 1st system (Numa) will remain intact after I uninstall BMM?
2) My cable gets disconnected sometimes. So can I use some other cable like nexus 4 to fxz back or will it hard brick ?

1) Yes, it will remain intact.
2) It's a roll of the dice, so to speak, I have used the cable from the charger for my Skyrocket to FXZ successfully. However that is not really recommended.

1. I honestly couldnt tell ya, but if that virtual folder contains ALL systems, and it gets deleted then Numa will be gone.
2. any cable should do fine.
But I'd double check your USB port, clean it out, and make sure that with the other cable you dont have the same issue.

Virtual folder contains the system files of other systems...
So deleting it will not affect your main system..

Done. Thanks everyone for helping out. I havent seen a more clean, fast and beautiful Rom before.
I removed Systems 3,4 by deleting clockworkmod/Virtual folder, then uninstalled BMM via BMM installer, Installed Bootstrap, Reboot to Bootstrap, Wipe, Flash.
Yea, Virtual ROM contains other systems only as Ayush said (Not Main).
It has minimal bugs such as - cant edit lock screen or else bootloop, contact numbers change, and even with Settings-> launcher-> keep launcher in memory, the launcher reloads if i open 3-4 apps.

Pls help-
I'm not quite a noob, but def no dev... got my Atrix 2 rooted using mastermind's 1-click method, installed bootstrap & flashed clockworkmod recovery- everything went fine until trying to flash/restore the ROM itself. I followed the instructions to the letter (save ROM in cwm backup folder, wipe cache & data, do not flash zip... restore in recovery). Yet i've bricked 2 atrix 2's trying to install this rom. Luckily the store I work at was good about letting me switch out, but kinda scared to brick a 3rd device. It just errors on restore then goes back to cwm. I try to reboot and cant get past the moto startup screen.. I'm sure i'm doing something wrong, cuz I know it should work (there are screenshots in the thread)... any help?

Did you unzip the rom and then put the contents in the backup folder?
You do know that you are more than likely going to be charged full price of the phone if you are returning a bricked phone to the store.

Luckily I work for a phone sales store, so they didn't charge me full price, as I blamed the phone bricking on a "bad software update" (which is kinda true- if the rom had restored properly, I wouldn't have been bricked in the 1st place)
; )
and it was still within the exch. period anyway... But that's neither here nor there... Yez, I unzipped the folder into the cwm backup folder. Not sure about reflashing fxz, havent tried that yet... don't really know how, never had to do that? I've flashed dozens of roms on my HTC & Samsung galaxy phones, but this is my first exp. w/ moto. So any help u can give is appreciated.

I had a similar problem, found the unzipped folder nested 2x under clockwork/backup.
Like this
sdcard/clockworkmod/backup/myrom/myrom
What I did was move all the files from second folder to the first then deleted second folder.
Hope I am clear and that it helps.

So the problem is that you stuck on motorola dual core logo?
Just try to flash fxz,it's pretty simple. You just need the file you need and let the pc doing everything while you watching a tv.
I got this problem twice when i try to flash victory rom this morning, wich is caused by a corrupt file.
And everything is sorted out by flashing fxz.
Trust me,it works! (It sounds like commercials on tv )

The devs have got some roms from other moto phones to boot but have problems mostly with the radio and probably a handful of other things. I would highly recommend you not try to do this. We have plenty of good roms here in the dev section that you can flash that are good roms. Generally if you follow the instructions for each rom you would be fine but if you are afraid of bricking your phone make sure you read a lot before attempting anything and always make sure you have a way back to stock.

Well as stated in this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1560117
You will need to remove permissions then reflash for it to stick.
Since you don't want to purchase root explorer you can try opening terminal emulator and try this
su
chmod 000 /system/etc/install-recovery.sh
Should remove all permissions. Tested it myself.

ES File Explorer is free and you can change permissions. Root of course required. Check settings to make sure you've granted it Root Explorer and Mount System Writable.

I too have gotten this problem with saying different partitions aren't mountable...3 times since late last night. I understand very well how to Odin back to stock ep4, take the update to fp1, get cwm to stick then flash my rom of choice. I am just wondering what is causing this though. I literally just got cwm (0302) to stick and was going to restore a backup I made so I formatted all the partitions in cwm and went to restore my backup and bam! system not mountable again. I'm going to try the 4.x version and see if I still get this issue. Going through the process of repartitioning and then getting back to my recovery is a huge PITA and a very long process.

To get back to EP4 Stock go here
Then there will be 2 over the air upgrades from Verizon. Take them both.
You can just flash CWM and be rooted stock if you want but the best alternative is this. Use the Odin version "Tweaked v3.0 ROM + 0302 CWM recovery". It's one step to being rooted on the best available rom.
If you want to be on rooted stock get CWM here
If you want a pictorial guide to using Odin go here

My USB Port is broken, is there anyway I can save this device without using ODIN?
This is my first post so please bear with me. I searched and searched and tried everything and havent been able to do this.
After rooting atrix 2, went to delete some bloatware...think i accidentally deleted something crucial (as most noobs do I am sure ). Now the phone will not boot fully - it gets stuck at the moto emblem in a kind of boot loop. Just going to give you info about what I have done so far:
Once i boot after a hard reset- in recovery mode tried to install stock rom. Did not work. This is because it said E:Signature did not get verified. ALSO pls note that I do not have cwm or any other custom boot program - so I am unable to see any uncheck the e signature option. I tried to find any rom which might have a signature so i can get that and then put the stock on subsequently - no good so far - of the mere 2-3 roms I found all showed the same problem with E-signature.
I tried to see if I could install cwm. I installed sdk tools on my computer - however I dont know how to install cwm without phone being fully on. Nor can I find a file for the Atrix 2 to do it. The ones I found were the bootstrap ones in .apk files which i dont know how to install on bootlooping phone.
Spoke to some android pros - tried the suggestions above they gave me and nothing so far. I think it was android phone portal that I accidentally removed...
Also note that I am in India and my stock rom is the India version NOT the AT&T/Verizon.
Im a bit scared to use the RSDLite application as I am not proficient with the workings of that software and I dont want to cause any more damage.
Is there any rom for atrix 2 that has a valid E:Signature? Is there any way to bypass this on stock bootloader. I repeat I do NOT have clockwork..Only options are to Reboot, Install package from SD, Format and Clear Cache.
PLEASE HELP...as a last draw will take to the service center...this phone is only 1 month old so I dont want to risk losing warranty (
Have you tried flashing an FXZ as in this post:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1396650
Sorry just re-read your post see you are in India and not on AT&T version.
Your best chance is to use RSD Lite to flash the stock Indian ROM. Here is the whole list of known fxz's for the A2. The Indian Retail ROM is "5.5.1-EDEM-27-SEARET."
When you first try to flash, it might error out depending on if you are on the latest update for your firmware. If so, just post the screenshot of the error it gives.
Do you think maybe i can flash it to this at&t firmware and then install cwm and then restore to india stock flash as with cwm i would be able to bypass signature authentication?
Please let me know.
Thanks.

Yes, you can do it that way, but it is rather indirect way of doing it. The easiest thing to do is flash the Indian firmware with RSD Lite.
yes i tried that but for some reason rsd lite does not detect my device (yes i have downloaded all relevant drivers).
And now whats worse :
I used moto-fastboot to flash the system files and i got the dreaded low battery fail. As expected this has caused Flash Mode (S) Flash Failure - is this mean its beyond repair by me? If there is a way please let me know.
As of now i have connected it to the wall charger hoping that by tomorrow morning I should have battery for me to try again (I tried again after a half hr or so of battery charging and it didnt work - gave the same error)...
Worst case Ill take it to the service center - would they be able to repair it does anyone think? Is this something they will do? (I understand warranty might be void)...
Please tell me I'm fretting big time...I cant afford a new phone
Oh and I tried with the Indian rom too but didnt work again coz rsdlite didnt register my phone connected despite drivers being installed.
Tutorial videos were hard to find but atrix 4g and original atrix show the boot mode as RSD protocol boot mode....this is not to be found on my atrix 2 boot mode - only thing is AP Fastboot - maybe its the same I do not know...
Also another question - will my phone battery charge when phone is connected to wall charger while the persistent flash failure Fastboot is showing on screen...
If all fails I really hope the service center can repair this...this is possible right?

^^ this is your best bet at a fix. Once your battery is high enough, RSD Lite should detect your phone (I'm assuming that that's why it doesn't show up in RSD but it does in fastboot).
alright seems a bit mechanical...probably a last resort...
are you saying the battery will not charge when connected to the wall charger though?

Its always best to freeze unwanted apps, rather than deleting. Also, if you re-root, there's several roms that are de-bloated already.

It is best to just freeze anything with something like eazy freezy in market, and backup everything with CWM.
TIB was great, maybe 3 years ago before CWM was the thing. It has not innovated and the things it does can break things a lot... I bought it a long time ago, and I have not liked using it in over 2.5 years now. I stopped loading it last year, when it would give erreranous errors about incorrect permissions, and fail to restore things correctly, and using it to remove and "freeze: things tends to cause more FCs than I care to count.....
There are several on the Atrix2 forum that have seen these same issues, and have even been soft bricked by TIB.

I didn't realize there was such issues with TB... I haven't really used it for freezing, but new it held that option to do so. I've used to backup apps so as to not have to re-download my apps each time after flashing new roms. Is there something better for this purpose?
CWM backs up everything, like rom and apps and so forth, right? What about just backing up apps only?

Backing up and restoring apps can be risky when flashing ROMs. You are best to use the option with the market/play to backup what apps you have installed, then when you install a new ROM, and sign into the market/play, it should download and install all the apps you had before. I have had the best success with this.

REALLY? Man, i'm kinda with apex on this one. I have never had any issues with TIB.
Guess the primary reason I like it over the store restore is that it restores all apps. Even the ones not on the store. IE: Cheesecake. It also restores all system settings like text messages, settings, stored passwords. wifi/bluetooth settings. Everything.
However, I trust your wisdom Jim. I will be wary of its usage in the future. Just saying I haven't ran into it... Yet.

Hey folks, CM10.1 is amazing.. But has some bugs.. So its not a good idea for having it as a daily driver yet..
But still we all want to use it.. maybe just for testing.. so what to do?
well why not dual boot CM10.1 and other ICS roms?
for that you need
1) whirleys BMM (look here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2115715)
2)Of course the CM10.1 zip file (here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2121029, thanks Wanggighost and hankbizzo5)
3)the patch I have attached..
4) reboot into recovery, change system, install CM10.1.
5) Once done, just install the patch I have provided..
reboot and select your system..
Enjoy!!
NOTE: MAKE SURE 2nd-init IS ENABLED IN SETTINGS OF BMM OR IT WONT WORK.
EXTRA BENIFIT: NO MORE TRIPLE BOOT SPLASH SCREENS
What is happening here?
Simple, bmm (and probably safestrap as well) look for the 2nd init files in /system/etc/rootfs. But the standard boot menu keeps files in /system/bootmenu/2nd-init. Well, so when I install bmm on cm10/cm10.1, the necessary ramdisk files cannot be found and your phone bootloops. So all I do in this is copy the 2nd init files from cm bootmenu folder to rootfs folder.
trying now .... hope ill succeed..
Edit: ... cant go beyond bootanimation of CM10.1
Edit 2 : installed successfuly on 3rd system .... i think i done something wrong with 2nd sys.
Thanks a lott buddy
When i reboot into 2nd system, it says, CDROM partition is not setup and then boots into 1st system..

You haven't set up bmm properly.. Tap on the green android. Select settings. Select system 2. Select partitions. Tap on activate. It will format CDROM partition to ext2 fs..
I have given it in the link on step 1..

Can you get me a log? Try destroying all the images and create them again.. Keep system a minimum 500MB.. And 1st boot takes a bit long.. Wait a little..

Great.
Worked 1st time flawlessly
Yeah, so i was taking a break from some hospital paperwork and decided to do this, i had already flashed cm10.1 on the 2nd system, So i thought, 'lets start this from scratch', so what i wanted to do was format 2nd system and data.. and dunno SOMEHOW i formatted my /ext and NOW i have a fully formatted 16GB micro sdcard with everything gone, GONE ! my photos videos ! such a stupid *** thing to do !!! F*** !!!
i do have my back ups on my laptop but all my photos and videos are gone !! thanks to evernote i have my notes though.. I tried this recovery sw to get back a few files, got a few videos back but somehow off the 1000+ photos, it could recover just <50.. :crying:
Sorry for being way off topic.. feel free to report.. i just wanted to type some frustration out
Yea buddy .... I knw hw it feels
I lost my all fotos while partitioning the sd card through BMM ..... some were way too important
& I succeeded bootin 3 ROMs with this
1) Stock 2) MIUI 3) CM10.1

A quick question - this only allows you to boot the 10.1 rom, right? Can't go on and dual boot the other CM room?
Sent from my MB865 using XDA Premium HD app
Well I did install it with the 4.2 cm10 ROM, but it seems the bmm is gone.
Am I having some troubles with the 2nd init.d?
Edit: just switched back to my good old ICS, the BMM is alive and kickin, It works!
Can enjoy now from the jb&ics goodness together.
Thank you!

You mean CM10? Well you can.. Just replace the 2nd-init files from that ROM and flash it.. I didn't think someone would want an older version.. So I didn't make a zip for that.. If you need, I ll make it.. Its pretty simple..

I suppose I don't need it, I was just wondering since the camera isn't working in this release. I also should have phrased the question better, I was wondering about flashing something like the PA rom on a system as well.
Can this be used if you are on cm 10.1 and want let's say SCV7 as second?

Did this last night, works beautifully. I too am curious as to whether or not this will work with any other ROMs that state they don't work with BMM?
Regardless, patch does what you claim, and that's all that matters really

Soft format actually didn't erase your data. It only remove a file system reference. You will only lose it when you start writing a new data.
Try disaster recovery software like recuva.
Hopefully you haven't write a lot of new data on your freshly formatted sdcard.
I am currently on Cm10
I am looking to install BMM on my phone. I currently have Cm10 ROM installed and looking to add MIUI or ICS rom as dual or triple boot. I have the Att version and currently out of warranty. Last time I did some updates I ended up with a hard brick because I installed Bootstrap on top of CM10 and don't want to run in to the same situation again. Do I need to go back to ICS and then install BMM or can I install from CM10. Also what do I do about the patch and finally how do I install MIUI. Any help would be appreciated.

1) You never hardbricked your device when you installed bootstrap on cm. You softbricked it.
2) You can install bmm on cyanogenmod10(theoretically for sure). But until you install the patch, your phone will bootloop. If you are unwilling to take risk, get back to stock ics. else keep your fastboot files ready.
3) As for getting bmm and doing dual or triple boot, there is a thread by me in general section. SEARCH.
This is the bootstrap recovery for atrix 2 based on clockworkmod recovery 6 [CWM 6] to be used with MIUI v5
Steps to use bootstrap cwm6:
1. Install the Atrix2Bootstrap.apk in the rooted leaked jellybean #3
2. Select "Bootstrap Recovery"
3. Superuser will prompt for permissions. Give access to it
4. Select "Reboot Recovery"
5. Then flash latest MIUI v5
6. With this recovery ie CWM6, Direct OTA update will work, the phone will flash the OTA and automatically reboot. Earlier Bootstrap based on CWM5 threw an error if we tried to auto update from system updates. This is the recommended recovery to be used with MIUI v5. Now you wont get any error messages while OTA update.
If you find the post useful...plz hit thanks.

Is this useful since 98-99% of our latest ROM's are based on BMM? No disrespect just stating the facts. I'd personally like to try it out since Multi-booting is not my thing really anymore... Nice find either way. Thanks for the share. I'll give a thanks when I try it out

I'm wondering the same thing since I don't care much about multi-booting. My guess would be that you would have to flash the ROM first, then uninstall BMM, then install this but don't take my word for it yet. I'm going to play around with it once I get home and charge up my A2.
@arnab, thanks for this.:thumbup:
If I had a dollar for every time I said that, I'd be making money in a very weird way.
It works perfectly...U don't have to worry a thing...Personally I like non kexec based custom ROMs...But be sure to remove BMM before installing it.
Are we able to cwm at boot?

Good point out that IS one thing I like with BMM. Forgot CWM doesn't really work that way without an extra mod probably.

Wish we could boot kexec with this
seems like alot of extra work required to get a recovery that you cant boot directly into, and that no still worked on ROM actually support this anymore.
So from a BMM ROM, must remove BMM recovery by using the BMM application, then remove the app, then install this and then use it to install the recovery that we cant get into at boot.
Is that correct?
Not purposely coming off as an ass, can just see alot of problems coming from it.
You will not be able to boot any kexec/2nd init based roms using this.. @OP, I recommend you to take a look at the cmdefy recovery in altered's github or wang's.. If you want to get them working..
In short your recovery must start on every boot (look into Cwm on every boot) and then run a script that loads kexec or 2nd init..

Yea i checked it out and will only use this if i want to stay on ics. Pretty kool tho! :good:
I am not sure of how relevant this is but out of my personal experience, if you have already installed BMM make sure to search for the logwrapper.bin file being altered (or was it deleted, don't recall) issue in the forum before uninstalling BMM, else it may cause you grief.
EDIT
Just looked it up, the issue was :
Quote
DO NOT INSTALL BMM IF YOU USED A2 BOOTSTRAPPER BEFORE. THAT WILL MESS THINGS UP WITH YOUR LOGWRAPPER.BIN. THERE IS A GOOD CHANCE YOU WILL BOOT LOOP AFTER REBOOT. NOW IF FOR SOME REASON YOU DID NOT READ THIS, AND GET A MESSAGE ABOUT BMM ASKING YOU TO GET HELP, BEST THING FOR YOU TO DO IS RECHARGE YOUR BATTERY FULLY AND FXZ BACK. OR THERE IS A GOOD CHANCE YOU WILL HAVE TO USE MCGRUVYER METHOD OR ANOTHER A2 BATTERY. USER RAD7 RECENTLY HAD QUITE A LOT OF TROUBLE WITH HIS BATTERY DYING AFTER BMM MESSED WITH LOGWRAPPER. YOU HAVE BEEN INFORMED.
I want to thank all those who replied. As you all gave me a clear & concise understanding of the issue being discussed. And I will be staying with BMM for all the reasons that were very easy to understand.

If I am not mistaken you can uninstall BMM from within the app itself and it will automatically clean all of that up for you. It's been a while since I've had the time to experiment with my A2, but I'm almost positive of that at least.

Yeah you are right in what you have stated but what I wanted the guys to be wary was installing BMM after previously having installed and uninstalled A2 bootstrap in which case the logwrapper.bin issue crops up causing boot loop and battery cannot be charged until fresh fxz via rsd is done. Even I have not been experimenting for long but strongly contemplating getting aboard jbx :fingers-crossed:
