bricked Nexus S, Ubuntu tool doesn't work but home and search key are lit up

really wired.
i have tried that Linux tool under ubuntu , but couldn't find device in both Nexus S option and Galaxy S option because i saw someone who worked in Galaxy S mode with Nexus S phone.
somehow , i don't know why , i have search key and home key lit up, but when i try flash bootloader via fastboot , it keep saying "waiting for device" in both windows and ubuntu. i couldn't get into download mode becuase i try Odin , still non-responsive as screen is dark i have no idea where am i...
i have no idea what to do next. only thing i haven't tried yet is that hardware modification , but i don't have soldering tools around.
i am not fully comprehended how to modify it ...
is just connect the first and last one , and then remove the middle one that connects thoes 2 points ?

well ... sorry , i thought i have made myself clear , but obviously not ...
i have a 9023 , it works fine for long time about year, recently i updated bootloader and to 4.1 JB version , but after a little running of JB , i decided downgraded to 4.04 as i would be waiting for AOKP JB come out.
then one day , i killed my first battery and i replaced it with my second battery , suddenly it just doesn't boot up anymore , nothing at all , not even google sign , unable to download mode, recovery mode , nothing happens but phone will heat up without running.
then i went here and some other forum that lots lots users say that have same problem and some of them gave a solution is that use that unbrickable tools which runs under Ubuntu.
after hours of downloading , installing and configuring java, i finally managed to get it work, but unfortunately it doesn't work out as instructions indicates , UnBrickableResurrectorR40 keep report device not found.
ok , i don't know what to do , i send it to a mobile shop which repairs mobile , days later i took back my phone and they say they couldn't bring it back to live...
so i decided to do that hardware modification to see if it works or not , because things couldn't get any worse or better by replacing motherboard ...
but somehow , i found it that search key and home key would light up and i took it back , they don't do so before i send it in ... so i thought they may do something to my phone , i went to Ubuntu again , still no detected. and both fastboot and Odin didn't work ...

could you tell me how to modify hardware ?
just like i said, connect those 2 point of first one and last one in attached picture and remove the middle one's connector?

yes remove the resistor circled and connect the 2 points you circled

Yes removing the resistor xOM5 will disconnect the two points. use a small wire to connect the other two points.

still no good... may be he did wrong thing ...but who knows ... it's really really too small inside there ... this isn't a job for humans ...it is for machines ...
i guess know only way to bring it back to live is replace motherboard ...

device is not detected by unbrickable?
I have been debating if the reason i cannot get into fastboot nor download with nexus S sbl is because the power button has also failed.

[Q] HTC One E8 QHSUSB_BULK after OTA

Hi,
I bought my HTC One E8 second-handed. Model( OPAJ300 M8Sn ).
the phone was not rooted and i didn't mess with it.
last night the phone download an OTA(inside android, it just downloaded OTA. didn't ask me to install, reboot or anything) and in middle of updating(downloading) screen gone black(with backlight on ) after few minutes (5 or so) , i held power button for 30 seconds and it restarted, now it's completely unresponsive. nothing happens. even when i connect charger no LED lit up. ( Hard bricked)
but when i connect it to PC, windows recognize it as QHSUSB_BULK.
I think it's hard bricked.
i suspect this phone was carrier locked and previous owner unlocked it some how. but there is no obvies sign of carrier logo on the phone or on the box.
any suggestion ? :crying:

First thing, check for your model no (M8sd or something like Mxxx) on the back cover of the phone at the very bottom in fine print....
Then search this forum for help regarding your problem.

Sorry dude, i don't know about QPST so can't help you there...
But try raising your query in this thread and maybe someone can help you.... many other models are listed there but your model no isnt there.. so maybe they can guide you more....

status update:
i contacted HTC. it turned out my phone wasn't locked. also i contacted previous owner. he said he didn't root or install anything non-ordinary on it. but they(HTC) refused to repair it under warranty. (previous owner bought it in another country)
also i contacted some local repair shops. most of them said they don't repair any htc one series. some of them said they have to open it and 'hope' to use JTAG on it.
i'm really confused.:crying:
tomorrow i will contact HTC and ask them to repair it outside warranty. hope they accept.

HTC accepted to repair my phone outside warranty. but they said repair cost depends on situation, between $30-$100 . also they said they wouldn't open the phone.
i'll post the result.

Will you please install these drivers according to your operating system ? Then we will see which service port your HTC is giving us.

Try to drain your battery completely, and then charge it again.
No led light doesn't mean hard brick

I shipped phone to HTC last week. they contacted me today and said it's beyond economical repair. they said they have to change motherboard...
now i don't know what to do.. salvage parts and sell them individually or sell it as a broken phone...
or wait until someone suggest a way to repair it... :crying:
i'll never buy HTC again.

Just received it today, so first impressions only
Looks VERY nice, and strong
smooth as hell and very nice screen
Connects fast to wifi, 4g, and my BT devices are ok (BT2.1 & BT4.0)
So right now... Cool for the price
Device looks to be rootable with kingroot...
Any1 knows how to go to recovery ?

The seller sent me a new ROM (2016-01-07) but I can't flash it...
Then send me a new phone...

Now I flashed the phone and it's working again on 2016-01-20 update.
It's a GOOD phone.

My IMEI has disappeared too, i loaded all tools from LEAGOO website,
but when using the flash tool for replacing the ROM, theres no way to access the phone
Support from Leagoo is a mess, but the phone is quite good !
So, in what state should the phone be, to be recognized ?
I used "normal" mode of booting, just into the operating system, having USB for data transfer on, usb debugging on - phone isnt recognized by flashtool.
Sholud it be in recovery mode or fastboot mode, when yes, how to access it ?

The way to flash is "quite" simple:
You have to
-switch off the phone
-plug the usb cable
-press vol- and power at the same time
- The phone will turn on BUT the update software will recognize it
-release both buttons as soon as the soft sees the phone or it will turn off again
- And be patient: flash took 12 minutes for me but you'll see the progress
Had to find this by myself because the support people are VERY kind, but I'm not sure they want to tell this

What version of ROM do you have? I have MY_LEAGOO_Alfa_5_OS1.1_20160120 from Leagoo.com.my but is so lite ...it has no ringtones no sounds no themes .Do you have any rom with the previous goodies?

Sorry, same version... But there are ringtones and sounds... I don't know about themes, as I don't use them

Hi Guys, although (ring)tones seem not to be the most important for using this lovely phone, i would suggest to use one of the uncountable apps who provides ringtones and others.
Go to GooglePlay and search for "ZEDGE". There is advertising included, but for testing ist more than enough.

Hi There, another note to flashing ( also had to find it myself, didnt have a look here to note this fine advertisement
My way to flash:
- Switch off the phone
- Hold Volume - button
- Plug in the usb cable
- The phone will turn on AND the update software will recognize it
By the way, does anyone know a custom recovery for the Alfa 5 ?

note: updating via wireless updating menu from leagoo os1.1 lite 2015.12.xx (i dont remeber of the day) to leagoo os1.1 lite 2016.03.22 is SAFE! i just now did it and everything is fine.

Alcatel Onetouch Flash (6042D) Stock ROM
Installation:
1) Download here 6042D_Stock_Backup.rar (768MB)
2) Extract ROM
3) Download SP Flash Tools
4) Power off your phone
5) Open SPFT and click on "Scatter-loading", now choose the scatter file in the ROM archive
6) Uncheck Preloader.bin
7) Click on Download button
8) Now plug in your device with USB. Download should start. Wait till it finishes flashing (5 to 10 minutes according to your computer speed).
9) Unplug the cable, go to recovery mode (volume down + power till you see alcatel logo); wipe data & factory reset; then wipe cache partition.
10) Now reboot.​
Troubleshooting:
- If your phone is booting and reboot (infinite loop) and so can't be powered off, just click on Download button and plug it in; SPFT will detect it when it turn off. It won't turn on when SPFT initiates the flashing proccess.
- If you're stuck on bootlogo or bootanimation (bootloop). Just click on download button in SPFT, then plug in your phone. Now press the power button for 10s (or less) till SPFT detects it. Now release the button, flashing should start.
Notes:
- NEVER flash with "Preloader.bin" checked ! Unless your device is already HARD BRICKED! (Tip: If you still can boot to recovery, then your device isn't hard bricked. It's just soft bricked)
- You need MTK VCOM USB Drivers installed first! You can find plenty of tutorial on Google to do that

Does this rom is stock or backup of any device.

It's Backup of my device.
Manufacturer didn't provide a stock rom because Alcatel guys are LAZY :laugh:

Reflash stock rom again. It's the only way to restore your IMEI. Or use MTK Droid Tools to restore your IMEI if you previously made a backup.

Since i know my imei's i tried to apply it using Chamelephon app from playstore and it fixed the imei problem.

Not alot of details here.... Can you boot into recovery, if so did you try factory reset? Will it go into download mode, have you tried restoring with mobile upgrade Q?

Does it complete the download and install of firmware with mobile Q or does it get interrupted?

I download from Rom Mobile Upgrade and sigma boox The same problem

Can you describe exactly what steps you have taken? Is it stock Marshmallow or Lollipop? Can yoy get into recovery mode by holding power and volume up?

Try using the panasonic eluga firmware... If you can get into download mode that is...

Both mobile upgrade Q and Panasonic Eluga Switch firmware installers will put the phone into download mode if device is powered off, in the event something is currupt you can put device into download mode manually by holding volume up,volume down and power at the same time until you get red screen rhen release all, tgen hold volume up until screen goes black, then you are in download mode and can run either mobile Q or Eluga..... If that fails you probably have defective hardware..... Try removing both sd card and sim prior to running either firmware installers see if that helps.....

Looks like drivers not installed have you installed latest mobile upgrade q, that will take care of driver issue

The device is repaired as i look just reboot it and you will get message like Your device is Encrypted just reset and wait to boot if the device is not repaired use mobile upgrade q

I dont think his Eluga install succeeded, normally you would see the com port status change and info populate, then progress would go to 45% before failing, he is not getting that far, i don't think he has drivers installed its not going into download mode(or the pc is not picking up the device in download mode) which leads me to think drivers....

Yes i looked again screenshoot him device is not repaired....Maybe he will must to install drivers and then go to downlaod mode
